Stephane

Thanks for your note. Can you provide some further details -- for
example, can you tell me any of the following:
which architectures?
what config options are required?
what determines the accuracy that can be achieved with HR timers?

Cheers,

Michael

This is actually with kqemu module, as -kernel-kqemu is used. You have
to use -no-kqemu to disable it.

kqemu doesn't work very well with 64-bit guests, and definitely doesn't
work with 64-bit guests using -kernel-kqemu. Please retry without
-kernel-kqemu.

Where at? I've just seen the bug log.

I do not think so. I think this is the right way to solve the
problem.

Yes. I dislike autofs as it prevents amd from being shut down or
upgraded.

> Does it actually fix the problem, or just make the error go away?
> What happens if you try to lock files on filesystems that have been
> automounted? Does that still work?

Yes.

Let me try to restate the problem:

When the kernel mounts an NFS file system, it tries to connect to the
NLM service on the remote host (NFS server), unless "nolock" is passed
as an option. Until 2.6.25, if the "remote host" was unparseable (for
example, [EMAIL PROTECTED]), nolock was assumed. Since 2.6.25, the
mount request fails.

The patch just passes "nomount" to the kernel for the "toplvl" AMD fs
type. That's just the amd-managed NFS mountpoint (for example /net in
the stock config). Amd does not provide any locking service for these
mount points. They just contain directories or symlinks to the actual
NFS mount points.

Does that make sense?

I'm using this patch in production servers, and NFS locking work fine.

Phil.

Oh, btw, sorry for this mail's title. I originally intended to
"reopen" the bug with it...until I discovered that it was "closed" by
an upload to experimental, which explains why movabletype-opensource
still shows up as incomplete in l10n stats while the bug supposed to
fix that is closed.

Anyway, I'm eagerly waiting for the fix to come in unstable..:)

Steve (Langasek) I think you're the one who can analyze that and

I think that having a translated Default here makes sense. It means
that French users would for instance get "Inconnu" (French for
"Unknown") as default value for that setting, which is correct.

That warning could, imho, deserve a lintian override.

Very often, translatable Default value do *not* make sense, that's why
the lintian warning is here.

That's indeed a valid claim, except that upstream having set it like
this, software using xulrunner 1.9 idl files might already fix that
themselves, which means fixing here might break them.

I'm currently swamped in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?tag=xulrunner-transition;[EMAIL

so if you have time to check existing packages building against
xulrunner-dev, that would be nice.

First, try to check if you are using EXA or XAA (check the Xorg logs, in
/var/log/Xorg.n.log where n in usually 0)

If you are using EXA, try switching to XAA, by adding:
Option "AccelMethod" "XAA"
in the Section "Device" in /etc/xorg.conf.

If you are using XAA, in the same section, add
Option "XaaNoOffscreenPixmap" "on"

Thanks Ewen. The first step in getting it into Debian would be to make
sure it gets upstream. Otherwise, adding it to etch means we either
need to maintain the out of tree patch for future releases or drop it
and cause a feature regression. Once its upstream it will naturally
end up in the queue for a future Debian release and we can consider
backporting it to current stable.

Given that sarge support has been discontinued, we'll not be able to
fix this in any way (not that we would have been able if it was
supported either).

Could you try if it works with later versions, like the ones from etch,
otherwise I'm tempted to just close this.

On the other hand from looking at the logs, it might just be that your
kernel is not properly configured? missing modules, you could try using
/dev/input/mice instead, etc.

guillem

Bug#484890: mc: 'Find File' box layout vague; which options apply to which fields?

Usability researchers advise that users scan an interface, (they don't
"read" it), hunting for what's needed given limited time. Users muddle
through, or "satisfice". (q.v. Steve Krug's "Don't Make Me Think", et
al)

Suppose that separating checkboxes with a fill-in-blank denotes
incompatibility. The first two fill-ins are:

 | Start at: /bin/_ [^] |
 | |
 | Filename: BASH__ [^] |
 | [x] Find recursively |

But "Find recursively" complements both the 'Start at' and 'Filename'
fields, though separated. (The verb 'find' applies to the 'Filename',
and 'recursively' applies to directories, or 'Start at'.)

This would be less vague, but looks ugly:

 +--- Find File --+
 ||
 | Start at: /bin/_ [^] |
 ||
 | Filename: BASH__ [^] |
 | [x] Find recursively |
 ||
 | +---+ |
 | | Content: __ [^] | |
 | |[ ] case Sensitive | |
 | |[x] Regular expression | |
 | +---+ |
 ||
 | [< OK >] [ Tree ][ Cancel ] |
 ++

...maybe there's some better way.

I'm not a new user and am credited in the 2003 'mc' changelog. Though
I've no means of measuring statistically how many users have been
confused by this particular layout, it's plausible that if it confuses
one longtime 'mc' fan, then it'll confuse others.

> Maybe they could be a second "case Sensitive" checkbox
> for the "Filename:" which would be usefull.

Are two "case Sensitive" checkboxes worth the screen real estate, (four
states: 00,01,10,11), versus one checkbox that could be made to apply
to both (two states: 0,1)? The {01,10} states might be needed less
often.

HTH...

Policy doesn't specify that Uploaders is an RFC 2822 From header. It's
not an unreasonable desire that it be so specified, but so far as I know,
nothing in Debian that parses those fields implements a full RFC 2822 From
parser, and Uploaders containing commas breaks other software as well.

I think this requires a Policy change before Lintian knows which way to
jump. If this is supposed to be an RFC 2822 From header, Policy should
say so. Currently, Policy says:

List of the names and email addresses of co-maintainers of the
package, if any. If the package has other maintainers beside the one
named in the Maintainer field, their names and email addresses should
be listed here. The format is the same as that of the Maintainer tag,
and multiple entries should be comma separated.

which if anything says that the current behavior of Lintian and other
tools is correct, as there's nothing there about it being possible to
escape commas.

This problem is new with Uploaders; since Maintainer doesn't take a list,
it was never ambiguous. Commas in names have never worked for Uploaders
since the introduction of the feature so far as I know.

Bug#484235: [Pkg-samba-maint] Bug#484235: panic-action called for /usr/sbin/winbindd

2008-06-10 Thread Jim Barber

I've got a couple more stack dumps from today as well that look a little
different.
Is it worth sending them through as well?

Once if very similar except for slight variations in a number of the hex values.
But at step #18 a different path down the functions calls happens.
So I'll paste that.
Replace steps #18 to #20 from the previous dump with:

#18 0x080b89ef in async_request_fail (state=0x8374cf0)
at nsswitch/winbindd_dual.c:208
#19 0x0808bc7a in rw_callback (event=0x834f1e0, flags=1)
at nsswitch/winbindd.c:389
#20 0x0808c6c9 in main (argc=) at nsswitch/winbindd.c:854

I've also got another one where at step #14 it's called query_user_list instead
of just query_user.
That walks a different list of functions, but still finally dies at
nsswitch/winbindd.c:854

Let me know if I should send full stack dumps of both or not.

Bug#485552: reprepro: Patches for portability to AIX

2008-06-10 Thread Carey Evans
After installing zlib 1.2.3, and configuring with CC='gcc -pthread'
CPPFLAGS=-DO_NOFOLLOW=0 LIBS=-liberty, the remaining changes I need to
get reprepro to compile are detecting big- or little-endian systems,
defining _D_EXACT_NAMELEN, and including stdlib.h. On a 32-bit
platform, having NULL defined as 0 doesn't matter.

This is a much smaller set of changes. Sorry for including so many
unnecessary modifications in the first patch.

by the way the commits are sent to pkg-scicomp-commits now

Bug#418757: Debian Etch: Patch: /proc/scsi/aacraid missing

2008-06-10 Thread Ewen McNeill
As noted by Marcin Owsiany <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> last year, with the
default Debian Etch kernel, /proc/scsi/aacraid is missing on the Debian
Etch kernel, even when the AACRAID driver is loaded and operating.

Amongst other things this prevents using the Dell afacli management tool
to monitor/manage the RAID arrays, since it checks for
/proc/scsi/aacraid and aborts if it is not found.

In the link that Marcin Owsiany provided:

http://lists.us.dell.com/pipermail/linux-poweredge/2007-January/029281.html

is a trivial patch for the aacraid driver which sets the necessary
elements in the structure which allow the /proc/scsi/aacraid file to
appear. Apparently originally from some Dell Engineers.

Would it be possible to have this applied to the Debian Etch kernel at
the next point release? (Etch and a half?) It's against 2.6.16
but seems easy enough to sort out for Etch's 2.6.18 kernel.

I've included it below to make it easier for you to get at.

Ewen

-=- cut here -=-
From: Patrick Boyd ,
  Bill Edwards

The problem that we are having is that on the current version of RedHat
Enterprise Linux 5 (2.6.16 kernel) the Adaptec raid management libraries
(AFALIB) no longer function. We were able to root cause this to the fact
that the /proc/scsi/aacraid directory was missing.

This directory is created if two properties are set in the
scsi_host_template structure: proc_name and proc_info. However, previous
driver version were not setting proc_info and as far as we can tell
this was just being set to uninitialized memory which was allowing the
directory creation to succeed. Apparently compiler or runtime behavior
has changed so that uninitialized entries in this static struct are set
to 0. Our solution is to simply create a function and put the function
pointer into the struct to restore the original behavior under the
new compiler.

Bug#485735: Can not serve images of help pages to other computers.

2008-06-10 Thread Charles Plessy
Package: emboss-explorer
Version: 2.2.0-5
Severity: normal

Hi all,

I installed emboss-explorer on my work computer, and wanted to use it
from the Macintosh of a colleague. While it worked well in general, it
did not manage to serve the emboss logo of the documentation pages. I
have the following error in the logs:

[Tue Jun 10 20:18:43 2008] [error] [client 10.64.135.3] client denied by server
configuration: /usr/share/doc/emboss-explorer/html/emboss_icon.jpg, referer:
http://anx159/cgi-bin/emboss/help/vectorstrip

/usr/share/doc/emboss-explorer/html is a symbolic link to
`../../EMBOSS/doc/html/emboss/apps'. Strangely, the html page displayed
for the documentation is also in this directory. It is however not
displayed directly, but through URLs like:

I am not sure is this bugs belongs to upstream or our packaging, and I
do not know enough of Apache to figure out what makes the localhost
requests different from the local network requests.

Any idea ?

Have a nice day,

This is already in the archive as a different source package, so the
two bugs could be closed now.

LaMont would you mind if I do some bug triaging on xdelta and close these
and the few other bug reports that are not relevant anymore?

This information is not under the control of the package maintainer,
it's handled by the debtags team instead. This tag is not present in
latest tag db (http://debtags.alioth.debian.org/edit.html?pkg=xdelta),
neither in the archive index files, anyway.

So this bug could probably be closed now.

Bug#485605:

2008-06-10 Thread Edjunior Machado
Hi,

this issue seems to be related to an exported symbol (flush_tlb_page)
deprecated into kernel 2.6.25 wrongly used. There is an '#if'
statement using 'defined(__SMP__)', which returns false for my x86_64
machine. BTW, here is my 'uname -a' output:

$ uname -a
Linux sister 2.6.25-2-amd64 #1 SMP Tue May 27 12:45:24 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux

This one-liner patch against file firegl-public.c (included in
fglrx.tar.bz2) seems to fix it.

Hope it helps :)

NULL is 0, as per C99 sections 7.17.3 and 6.3.2.3.3; defining NULL to
(void*)0 helps. The Open Group examples at
http://www.opengroup.org/onlinepubs/95399/functions/exec.html do
all use (char *)0.

True. This could also go into configure with AC_CHECK_DECL, but that
might be a bit dangerous.

It is, though I don't see dprintf. Of course, I only started looking
for getopt_long once I'd reimplemented mprintf(); I could have saved
myself quite a bit of time.

And for what it's worth, _D_EXACT_NAMELEN would expand to exactly that
in this case.

Thanks for setting me straight, I should have looked further first.
Now I get to see whether I can recompile zlib without breaking the
custom version of OpenSSH here.

I'll see how I go with libiberty and zlib 1.2. Thanks.

Sorry, not this one either.

Confirming.

That's why I'm wontfix-tagging this bug (for now). A late-patching might
be implemented though, as I mentioned in my first answer to #485172.

Indeed, the series is applied manually after an unpack round.

In that particular case, upstream ships its source code in a normal way,
but also embeds a .pak file, which then has to be tweaked, hence the
problematic patch.

> If your package only contains a single tarball, you might want to

Sadly, that's not possible here.

I'm tagging it wontfix for now (although I'm not the maintainer of this
package), because the only way I can think of right now would be to keep
the extra patch(es) out of the quilt series, and apply it/them manually
once the unpack round done. The clean target would need to be adjusted
as well.

That's why I think we should indeed postpone those modifications. I
guess that this tag will help you figure out which bug might need your
attention in the not-so-near future.

Bug#485711: dcut: Better handle GPG signing error

2008-06-10 Thread Nelson A. de Oliveira
Package: dput
Version: 0.9.2.32
Severity: minor

Hi!

dput could better handle this type of error, where GPG fails (in this
case, caused by entering a wrong passphrase):

=
$ dcut rm packagefo
(...)
gpg: [stdin]: clearsign failed: bad passphrase
debsign: gpg error occurred! Aborting
Error: debsign failed.
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/bin/dcut", line 322, in
dcut()
File "/usr/bin/dcut", line 318, in dcut
os.rmdir(tempdir)
OSError: [Errno 39] Directory not empty: '/tmp/dcut.VbQWKc'
=

Suggestion is to give a better error message and to remove the temp dir.

Thank you very much!

Best regards,
Nelson

and the 'standard' variant of the 'ro' layout doesn't seem to exist.
that's probably the problem here. looks like the variant is named

Bug#485705: lintian: doesn't properly detect comma in control file email address quoted strings

2008-06-10 Thread Adam C Powell IV
Package: lintian
Version: 1.24.0
Severity: minor

Greetings,

An email address in a control field, e.g. Uploaders, should work with a
comma in a quoted string, such as of the form:
  "Smith, John" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
See for example RFC822 Appendix A.1.3.

Unfortunately, lintian treats it as separate addresses
  "Smith,
and
  John" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
resulting in false positives for NMU and a bunch of related tests.

Meanwhile, changelog has never required quoting of names with commas
(that I know of), so lintian should be able to identify a match between
  Smith, John <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
in changelog and
  "Smith, John" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
in control.

Thanks,
-Adam

Is this whole process documented somewhere? Preferably within the
package? I really did look -- dpkg -L on qtnx didn't show up anything
that looked relevant.

Bug#485704: DVD burn very slow.

2008-06-10 Thread David Keegan

Package: linux-image-2.6.24-1-686
Version: 2.6.24-7

Using this 2.6.24 kernel burning a DVD with growisofs. is
very slow. I can't see any error messages. According to the
trace the amount of data being written is tiny. It's
unusable like this. A backup that normally takes 25m would
take days to complete.

When I revert to kernel 2.6.22 (changing nothing else) the
DVD writes at normal speed.

This was already reported as bug #463610 which has been
archived.

Regards,
David Keegan.

Bug#485703: ITP: libratbox -- portable runtime for ircd-ratbox and charybdis

Description : portable runtime for ircd-ratbox and charybdis
Libratbox is the portable runtime used by ircd-ratbox and
ircd-charybdis. It features an abstractable design allowing for
SSL support and high performance I/O.
 .
In Debian, SSL support is provided by GNUTLS and should be considered
 experimental at the moment.

Support may be added to allow for local users to rebuild using OpenSSL
if desired instead of GNUTLS. This is still being considered; the official
Debian version will always use GNUTLS.

Bug#485702: xorg: ctrl+alt+Fx doesn't work anymore (on an old install)

2008-06-10 Thread Eddy Petrișor
Subject: xorg: ctrl+alt+Fx doesn't work anymore (on an old install)
Package: xorg
Version: 1:7.3+10
Severity: important

Hello,

I suspect this bug is the same as 445100 and 484294, but it seems the
confusion around the cause is too big, so, although my gut tells me this
is the same bug, I am adding this as a separate BR, as suggested in one
of the ones above.

ctrl+alt+Fx used to work until about a month ago or so, but now it is
broken. I can't even switch via keyboard to another user's session,
ecept through GNOME's menu.

About my setup:
- I am using xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd from sid; I used to have fglrx,
but I gave it up in favour of radeonhd, and, although I still have the
fglrx-driver package installed, I don't have the kernel module
- I have caps and ctrl switched for my user, while my wife's account
doesn't have the switch --- ctrl+alt+Fx doesn't work for either of us,
no matter the log in order

I will tr to remove any trace of the fglrx driver, although I really
don't suspect fglrx being the culprit ... (about this issue).

Please ask about any information you might need.

P.S.:I think serious would have been appropriate, taking into account
that: this is a regression, access to text consoles is lost entirely,
upgrading xorg shouldn't prevent the proper usage of the computer;
still I'll leave this as important, just to avoid severity wars and to
hope for a fast fix.

Bug#485701: spambayes: Use patch for __future__ changes, transition to dpatch for unpatch

2008-06-10 Thread Iain Lane
Package: spambayes
Version: 1.0.4-5
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
User: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Usertags: origin-ubuntu intrepid ubuntu-patch

Hi,

The Ubuntu changes to spambayes, in Ubuntu version 1.0.4-4ubuntu1,
achieve the same changes that have been achieved in 1.0.4-5 in a more
maintainable way, specifically keeping the changes in the debian/
directory, thereby enhancing the maintainability of the package.

We've also simplified the unpatch target in debian/rules.

In Ubuntu, we've applied the attached patch to achieve the following:

  * Merge from debian unstable, remaining changes:
- Add debian/patches/fix_import_future.dpatch to fix all instances
of from future import not being at the start of the file.
- Simplify debian/rules so unpatch actually works.
- Remove dh_python from debian/rules (not needed)
- Add build-dep on dpatch

We thought you might be interested in doing the same.

Yes, this is how NX works, You'll have had to do this to setup an NX
server. It is very much not plain X and won't work without having setup
an NX server.

Ah, this is a bug, I will forward, thanks.

It's a _lot_ faster than VNC. Like, orders of magnitude so.

Whether you agree or not, emdebian-tools does not do the prompting so
there is no problem with your original objection to prompting (which
related to GUI handlers) and I see no other reasoning for any objective
problem. You don't like prompting in bug scripts, fine. I like prompting
in bug scripts and I think it is useful for me and those who would
report bugs against packages that use these scripts. I see no reason to
change the current scripts and you have not provided an objective reason
so far.

Well, I and the apt maintainers disagree.

Is that your only objection? I don't think it counts, sorry.

It is far simpler for users to answer 'n' to a prompt than to remove
dozens of lines from the content.

I provided examples of other packages in my initial reply so those have
at least been brought to your attention. I am surprised that the
behaviour of apt is unknown to you in this regard.

I see no reason to change current behaviour, indeed I think it is a
valuable feature that is in line with behaviour of other similar
applications.

>
> Is this a regression from previous poppler versions?

Yup. It used to use xpdf resources in etch.

I wondered why this is the case and looked a bit closer into the problem.

etch poppler used to look at /etc/xpdfrc for configuration, thus it
re-used xpdf configuration for CID etc.

sid poppler has the paths hard-coded somewhere.

$ strings /usr/lib/libpoppler.so | grep usr
/usr/share/poppler/unicodeMap
/usr/share/poppler/cMap
/usr/share/poppler/nameToUnicode
/usr/share/poppler/cidToUnicode

These are apparently configured in poppler/GlobalParams.cc,
GlobalParams::scanEncodingDirs()

It looks as if it's a trivial task to add the other dirs and make it
scan there also for backwards portability.

For full compatibility, parsing of xpdfrc is necessary, but that's
going backwards looking at poppler changelog.

There are probably 3 ways to fix this problem, and I think 1 has the least
impact.

1. make poppler look into the old paths again

2. make xpdf-japanese/xpdf-* provide the files in the new path (hardlinked or
symlinked)

3. get poppler-data into NEW (users will have to install packages with
duplicate data).

junichi

Bug#457305: Announce of an upcoming upload for the common-lisp-controller package

Continuing the package cleanup, I found a lintian warning about debconf:

=
W: common-lisp-controller source: translated-default-field templates: 13
N:
N: You should not mark as translatable "Default:" or "DefaultChoice:"
N: fields, unless explicitly needed (e.g. default country, default
N: language, etc.). If this Default field really should be translated,
N: you should explain translators how they should translate it by using
N: brackets. For example:
N:
N: _Default: English[ Default language name, but not translated]
N:
N: Refer to the po-debconf(7) manual page for details.
N:

It seems that the patch below is enough for lintian to be happy, but I'm
not a debconf/translation expert, so I'm here looking for help.

FWIW, I also included the removal of a trailing space at the end of a
line. AFAIK changing a debconf template requires new checkout for the
translations, I guess that combining both (lintian fix and removal) will
demand less burden for translators.

Bug#485699: cupsys: Transitional packages include redundant docs

I was surprised to see that several of the transitional CUPS packages
are larger than some of the "real" packages. This is because they
have copies of the changelogs and copyright rather than symlinks to a
common doc directory:

In that case, it:

1) Ought to make this prominent in the Description

2) Has no business installing in /usr/bin

Bug#485698: qtnx: Always wants to ssh as nx

2008-06-10 Thread John Goerzen
Package: qtnx
Version: 0.9-3
Severity: normal

There appears to be no documentation for this package...

It always wants to ssh to the remote end and log in as the nx user,
which I don't have created. I would rather that it log in to my
regular account. It also attempts to ssh even if the ssh tunnel
option is unchecked in the advanced tab.

Moreover, it is unclear to me what the point of a session given as
KDE, Gnome, etc. is. I thought the point of X is that you run things
seamlessly from multiple machines. If I wanted a nested desktop
remotely, I'd just use VNC.

The attached patch passes "nolock" to

It's a more fundamental problem than that, I think, Philippe, isn't
it?Have you seen the discussions on the mailing list? Your patch
might be a useful workaround though, until upstream fix the problem
properly. An alternative workaround is to make using autofs for the

backward compatible with previous behaviour.

The attached patch fixes the problem.

Does it actually fix the problem, or just make the error go away?
What happens if you try to lock files on filesystems that have been
automounted? Does that still work?

Phil.

Thanks for the patch - glad you're still keeping tabs on am-utils. :-)

connect the threads in general. [Possibly consider adding special

No, 2.2.8-3 did not have this problem (at least, to judge from my log
files). It isn't crashing at every connection, no, as I can still use the
site Apache is hosting if I make enough attempts... sometimes works fine for
a long time, sometimes takes many connections before one works. Sorry I
can't be more exact.

In your initial mail you said you have his problem with all the accounts.
You can enable password-less logins to all the accouns in your system that you
want to, so make sure in that tab you do not have enabled:
Enable Password-Less logins.

After you are sure this is not your problem, install gdm or xdm and check
whether you have the same problem with this display managers.
You can go to use kdm back again with:
dpkg-reconfigure kdm

I disagree, there is no value in prompting, whether you're using a
reportbug function or not. At least, there is absolutely no value in
prompting for checks of sensitive data, the user should either decide
they don't want to transmit possibly sensible at all, or review/edit the
to be transmitted data after getting warned about it.

Other use-cases for bug script prompting might exist, but (besides
installation-report, which is a special issue) are unknown to me.

Bug#485695: rlinetd:

2008-06-10 Thread Alexander Hvostov
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: rlinetd
Version: 0.6-3
Severity: important

The update-inetd script in rlinetd produces an error exit status when
/usr/sbin/update-inetd is not diverted, i.e. rlinetd is the only
inetd-like package installed.

When update-inetd in this configuration is called from a package
maintainer script, said package maintainer script fails, and packages
(in my case samba) become impossible to install, upgrade, or remove
without editing the update-inetd script. Hence the severity of this
bug report.

The problem is solved by adding a line "exit 0" at the end of the
update-inetd script.

Why am I not surprised that its related to the crappy sis chipset on this
motherboard? Anywho, thanks for the help. Now I can go on and test more of
testing.

Interesting note, although I have both modules in my Unstable install as well,
the kernel loads them both in unstable but never swaps which one is in control.
I dunno. If I see anything useful I will let you know.

Thanks!

Yeah, so thats a 32 bit userspace with 64 bit kernel - there must be an
alignment/size issue in the growfs ioctl. I'll let the XFS developers know,
there are games they play in the kernel to counteract this problem.

You will find that a 64 bit userspace will work fine (with 64 bit kernel).

cheers.

Bug#485696: rlinetd: update-inetd script may return erroneous error exit status

2008-06-10 Thread Alexander Hvostov
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: rlinetd
Version: 0.6-3
Severity: important

The update-inetd script in rlinetd produces an error exit status when
/usr/sbin/update-inetd is not diverted, i.e. rlinetd is the only
inetd-like package installed.

When update-inetd in this configuration is called from a package
maintainer script, said package maintainer script fails, and packages
(in my case samba) become impossible to install, upgrade, or remove
without editing the update-inetd script. Hence the severity of this
bug report.

The problem is solved by adding a line "exit 0" at the end of the
update-inetd script.

In the Control Center, go to System Administation->Login Manager. Once there
there is a tab named Convenience (it is the last tab), there is an option to
enable password-less logins. I'm almost sure you enabled that :)

Bug#484902: xserver-xorg-video-radeonhd: Draws some parts of application windows incorrectly

2008-06-10 Thread Ilpo Järvinen
I was able to workaround it by setting my screen size with xrandr.

By default it got bogus values:
(II) RADEONHD(0): Setting screen physical size to 1 x 257
...which resulted in some super bogusness:
resolution: 32512x101 dots per inch

After xrandr --fbmm 300x230 all is in order again :-). Yielding to:
resolution:108x113 dots per inch
