Bug#502140: restarting xscreensaver
Hi, probably I'm just dense, but why would (the admittedly gross hack) of looking at /proc/$XSCREENSAVER-PID/environ (for DISPLAY and XAUTHORITY), getting uid for that process, trying xscreensaver-command -exit, if the screensaver exited, start xscreensaver again with that uid and environ, otherwise (it will have been locked) killing the xscreensaver, starting xscreensaver, doing xscreensaver-command -lock not do the trick better than the current state? Presumably somewhere such as > /usr/local/lib/ejabberd/ebin would be correct. I'm not sure if it deserves a special option for that. In /etc/default/ejabberd config file you may find variable ERL_OPTIONS which is copied to ejabberd command line. Just add '-pa /usr/local/lib/ejabberd/ebin' to it and ejabberd wil search for modules it this directory. Though it would be better to add a note about -pa option to the comment before the variable in /etc/default/ejabberd and probably to README.Debian, so I'm not closing this bug. Bug#495127: Announce of the upcoming NMU for the gallery package
Dear maintainer of gallery and Debian translators, Some days ago, I sent a notice to the maintainer of the gallery Debian package, mentioning the status of at least one old po-debconf translation update in the BTS. I announced the intent to build and possibly upload a non-maintainer upload for this package in order to fix this long-time pending localization bug as well as all other pending translations. The package maintainer agreed for the NMU or did not respond in two weeks, so I will proceed with the NMU. The full planned schedule is available at the end of this mail. The package is currently translated to: ar ca cs de es fr ja nl pt pt_BR sv vi Among these, the following translations are incomplete: ar ca cs es pt_BR sv vi If you did any of the, currently incomplete, translations you will get ANOTHER mail with the translation to update. Other translators also have the opportunity to create new translations for this package. Once completed, please send them as a bug report against the gallery package so I can incorporate them in the build. The deadline for receiving updates and new translations is Tuesday, October 28, 2008. If you are not in time you can always send your translation to the BTS. The POT file is attached to this mail. If the maintainer objects to this process I will immediately abort my NMU and send him/her all updates I receive. Bug#389430: Commenting on the add-on debs issues...
Got back to looking at these bugs to see if you'd ever followed up and realized that you ran down a dead end: Frans Pop pointed out: >- You cannot add an override suite that is on a different mirror > >This seems relevant in your use case. I'd guess it would be nice to be able >to use a standard Debian mirror for regular components and an HP mirror for >the add-ons. May be a lot more complex to implement though. Actually, I implemented that with my original patches. So it's not that complicated to implement, at least using my approach rather than dann's. See bugs 405888 and 405886 in conjunction with this one. In effect, it becomes possible to invoke anna an arbitrary number of times with different network repositories. The crucial point was to invoke choose-mirror separately for each addon. This means you can't just iterate over "suite", you actually have to iterate over net-retriever-core. Notably, the udeb dependency system at the time I implemented the patch would rerun choose-mirror every time net-retriever-core was reloaded. (If that has changed, then I was relying on a bug...) This makes the run parallel in structure to runs of floppy-retriever, which can check for a new floppy every time. If nobody is willing to actually take a look at my patches, perhaps you'd at least consider the analysis I put into it. My approach works better than dann's because it was designed properly. Design first, then code, as Joey Hess wrote? -- Nathanael Nerode <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Bush admitted to violating FISA and said he was proud of it. Bug#503047: amavisd-new: false-positive matches on CLSID banned regexp again
Package: amavisd-new Version: 2.6.1.dfsg-1 Severity: normal It appears that the banned filename CLSID regex is still matching on what I believe are valid filenames. You can find a lot of history abount this regex in this old bug report. http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=373159 This site here describes the vulnerability. http://www.declude.com/Articles.asp?ID=107 "This vulnerability occurs when an E-mail uses a 'CLSID' as an extension." And another site here http://www.gfi.com/emailsecuritytest/faq.htm#clsid "Attachments that end with a Class ID (CLSID) file extension" So from those two sites, it appears that the CLSID is only a problem if it is the extension to the filename. Here is an example of what I consider a valid filename. name="{2CC67A0A-4693-4972-BEFC-50AC40B39602}.jpg" And here is an example of what I would consider a bad filename name="image.jpg.{2CC67A0A-4693-4972-BEFC-50AC40B39602}" # current strict regex '\{[0-9a-f]{8}(-[0-9a-f]{4}){3}-[0-9a-f]{12}\}?'i # suggested replacement to fix the problem. '\{[0-9a-f]{8}(-[0-9a-f]{4}){3}-[0-9a-f]{12}\}?$'i The replacement regex adds a '$' to the end so that it will only match when the CLSID is an extension Thanks. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-1-686 (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages amavisd-new depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii file 4.26-1 Determines file type using "magic" ii libarchive-zip-perl 1.18-1 Module for manipulation of ZIP arc ii libberkeleydb-perl0.34-1+b1 use Berkeley DB 4 databases from P ii libcompress-zlib-perl 2.015-1Perl module for creation and manip ii libconvert-tnef-perl 0.17-8 Perl module to read TNEF files ii libconvert-uulib-perl 1.11-1 Perl interface to the uulib librar pn libdigest-md5-perl (no description available) ii libio-stringy-perl2.110-4Perl modules for IO from scalars a ii libmailtools-perl 2.04-1 Manipulate email in perl programs pn libmime-base64-perl(no description available) ii libmime-tools-perl5.427-1Perl5 modules for MIME-compliant m ii libnet-server-perl0.97-1 An extensible, general perl server ii libunix-syslog-perl 1.1-2 Perl interface to the UNIX syslog( ii perl [libtime-hires-perl] 5.10.0-15 Larry Wall's Practical Extraction ii perl-modules [libarchive-tar- 5.10.0-16 Core Perl modules amavisd-new recommends no packages. Bug#503046: xen-utils-3.2-1: inadequate error handling for the case of a failure to use a loopback device
Package: xen-utils-3.2-1 Version: 3.2.1-2 Severity: normal When a DomU is defined as using a file: device the loopback driver will be used to make it appear to be a regular block device. The loopback driver will by default only support 8 nodes so this is a limited resource. http://etbe.coker.com.au/2008/10/22/kernel-issues-with-debian-xen-and-centos-kernels/ If there is a problem that prevents correctly allocating the block device (see the above URL for a description of how I encountered it when using a CentOS kernel) then it will not free the loop device. When the domain is destroyed with "xm destroy" it will leave the loopback device, if you run that a few times (EG you have a script to restart DomU's on error) then you run out of loopback devices for the system. The error handling code needs to deal with this case. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#503044: xen-utils-common: should make the loopback device default to supporting more nodes
Package: xen-utils-common Version: 3.2.0-2 Severity: normal When file: sources are used for Xen block devices the Xen system will use a loopback device for each one. It's quite common for DomUs to be configured with two block devices (one for storage and one for swap) and not uncommon to have a block device for each filesystem (which makes it easier to grow filesystems). Therefore the default of 8 loopback devices will allow an absolute maximum of 8 DomUs with file: block devices, 4 DomUs that have separate block devices for swap and storage, and 2 or less if each DomU has more devices. Bug#503041: update-menus shouldn't overwrite custom menu definitions in ~/.pekwm
Package: pekwm Version: 0.1.7-2 Severity: normal The new menu integration is cool but overwrites the ~/.pekwm/menu file, which may contain a custom structure, and also contains menus for window frames, etc... The correct way to generate the menus would be to modify a file as ~/.pekwm/debian-menu which would contain only the application tree, which would be INCLUDEd, or dynamically included (not necessary imho, a config reload is cheap for pekwm), by the default config. It would then be possible to maintain a custom menu config, while still including the automatic part. I think that a similar way is used for the automatic generation of pwm menus. I'm marking this bug as normal even if there is dataloss (and I can assure you I lost a fairly complicated and featurefull menu config, as I assumed that the autogeneration would behave as for pwm). -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (999, 'testing'), (555, 'unstable'), (55, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.26-ambre (SMP w/2 CPU cores; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages pekwm depends on: ii libc6 2.7-14 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgcc1 1:4.3.2-1 GCC support library ii libjpeg62 6b-14 The Independent JPEG Group's JPEG ii libpng12-01.2.27-2 PNG library - runtime ii libstdc++64.3.2-1The GNU Standard C++ Library v3 ii libx11-6 2:1.1.5-2 X11 client-side library ii libxext6 2:1.0.4-1 X11 miscellaneous extension librar ii libxft2 2.1.12-3 FreeType-based font drawing librar ii libxinerama1 2:1.0.3-2 X11 Xinerama extension library ii libxpm4 1:3.5.7-1 X11 pixmap library ii libxrandr22:1.2.3-1 X11 RandR extension library ii menu 2.1.40 generates programs menu for all me ii x11-utils 7.3+2 X11 utilities pekwm recommends no packages. pekwm suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#502657: netmaze: rendering problems and segfaults
The rendering problems are caused by trigtab.h assuming 32-bit longs. It's a fixed-point trigonometry table which encodes negative numbers as 0xff.. values. I bodged it with s/0xf/0xf/g , which made the game playable. However it appears to be a very basic death-match first-person shooter; and the AMD64 processor family suggests a PC that can run much more recent examples of that genre. Bug#503037: ssl-cert snakeoil generation completely broken in hurd
Package: ssl-cert Version: 1.0.23 Severity: grave Tags: patch Justification: renders package unusable When installing ssl-cert on GNU/Hurd i386, the package fails the postinst. Upon further inspection, I found that the bash script never actually queries debconf for the hostname parameter it needs to config the package. When that function is added to the script, it still doesn't work because the ssleay.cnf file is set up to use /dev/urandom to get random input. Because Hurd doesn't have /dev/urandom, the hurd version of this package needs to depend on a package called random-egd, which adds /dev/random. Then the ssleay.cnf needs to change urandom to random. Provided that random-egd is installed, the attached patch adds in the necessary lines to fix the issues. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: hurd-i386 (i386-AT386) Kernel: GNU-Mach 1.3.99/Hurd-0.3 Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages ssl-cert depends on: ii adduser 3.110 add and remove users and groups ii debconf [debconf-2.0]1.5.24 Debian configuration management sy ii openssl 0.9.8g-10.1 Secure Socket Layer (SSL) binary a ii openssl-blacklist0.4.2 list of blacklisted OpenSSL RSA ke ssl-cert recommends no packages. ssl-cert suggests no packages. -- debconf information: make-ssl-cert/vulnerable_prng: make-ssl-cert/title: make-ssl-cert/hostname: bearclaw diff -Naur old/usr/sbin/make-ssl-cert new/usr/sbin/make-ssl-cert --- old/usr/sbin/make-ssl-cert 2008-09-24 08:09:04.0 -0700 +++ new/usr/sbin/make-ssl-cert 2008-10-21 10:18:17.32000 -0700 @@ -64,6 +64,7 @@ exit 0 fi fi +ask_via_debconf make_snakeoil fi diff -Naur old/usr/share/ssl-cert/ssleay.cnf new/usr/share/ssl-cert/ssleay.cnf --- old/usr/share/ssl-cert/ssleay.cnf 2008-10-21 10:29:06.55000 -0700 +++ new/usr/share/ssl-cert/ssleay.cnf 2008-10-21 01:57:13.0 -0700 @@ -2,7 +2,7 @@ # SSLeay example configuration file. # -RANDFILE= /dev/urandom +RANDFILE= /dev/random [ req ] default_bits= 1024
Bug#503035: Should netmaze be removed from testing?
Package: netmaze Version: 0.81+jpg0.82-12 Severity: serious Hi John, I would like to tactfully suggest that netmaze is not suitable for release with lenny. :) I had some problems building it on sid to look at bug #502657. It looks fairly unportable to 64-bit architectures to me without quite a bit of patching (I haven't tested it on big-endian systems yet). There hasn't been a release for two years, and the packaging looks a bit antiquated (such as not supporting the 'nostrip' option). Would you agree with turning this into a request for removal from testing? -- Tim Retout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#502618: partman: /dev/mapper/vg0-home is apparently in use by the system
I can confirm that Colin's patch of Tue, 21 Oct 2008 22:57:45 +0100 fixes the problem for me on a test install on amd64. I tested by building parted and then putting the udeb into localudebs and putting it into the initrd. - Matt -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#485409: Serverity changing
Hey, because you are unable to recieve any message, the main feature of this package is gone, so I changed the serverity to important (its useless to have a logged-in client if you are unable to chat with anyone). Maybe it may even be fixed in lenny, or, be as soon as posible avaible in squeeze-testing after lenny release. I mean, this bug last for over a year (the release with the bugfix was released 16.04.2007), the wishlist-item for nearly half a year, and nobody looks here.. Bug#502657: netmaze: rendering problems and segfaults
wall_pcoll is the wall collision code. The player's x and y coordinates are stored in an int - the netmaze code assumes an int is 4 bytes. On 64 bit architectures, when a player hits a wall, everything blows up. It might be possible to change some int types for int32_t types, but given the rendering problems as well, I suspect a proper portability patch could be quite intrusive. -- Tim Retout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#494009: No loss without microcode
I thought I'd point out that the cleaned-up drivers available in linux-libre work just fine on my home server that has an ATI video card. I don't know whether its absence causes any functionality degradation (my video card requirements are pretty low), but it certainly doesn't affect stability. It might be the case that my particular video card doesn't require the microcode at all, but it shouldn't be assumed that removing any of this firmware will cause any loss to every user of this driver. -- Alexandre Oliva http://www.lsd.ic.unicamp.br/~oliva/ Free Software Evangelist [EMAIL PROTECTED], gnu.org} FSFLA Board Member ¡Sé Libre! => http://www.fsfla.org/ Red Hat Compiler Engineer [EMAIL PROTECTED], gcc.gnu.org} -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#503010: #503010 [G||] [gallery2] gallery2: fails to upgrade / fails to install - fwrite error
Package: gallery2 Version: 2.3-1 Followup-For: Bug #503010 Hi I investigate a bit deeper about the second issue (fails to re-install) : the problem lays down in the fwrite call in install/steps/CreateConfigFileStep.class line 127. For me this line returns false after is_writable and fopen succeed. Bug#503032: gcompris-data: missing people (and "girl-oriented") images in animation/drawing tool
Package: gcompris-data Version: 8.4.4-1.1 Severity: wishlist My kids love making little animations with the animation tool in gcompris. While my son, whose enamored with vehicles, finds plenty of images to work with, my daughter, who's more into princesses and fairies, is unable to express herself properly. The inability to create images for use in animations (at least in the drawing tool -- or so it seems) makes the problem worse. At first, I was just going to ask for "girl-oriented" images, then I realized there were just no people there, and its not just fair maidens that are missing, but also charming lads. The closest thing to human images are the Mr. Potato face parts. Is there an artist who will "think of the children" in the good sense? Bug#494308: Living without e100 firmware
I thought it might be useful to point out that the removal of the non-Free firmware present in the e100 driver doesn't have any effect on the (old) notebook I have that uses the e100 driver. Initially, when I first converted it to linux-libre, that didn't include that driver at all, enabling the eepro100 driver was enough to get it to work. Later on, linux-libre started replacing the blob with /*(DEBLOBBED)*/, making for an empty array of firmware code, and this cleaned-up e100 module worked just fine. So don't assume that the removal of the firmware will have a negative impact on all e100-using hardware. If my experience counts, it will have zero impact. That said, I assume the firmware must be there for some reason, even if it's just to update in-flash firmware or so. Perhaps I just don't have hardware that depends on it. Package: bluez-audio Version: 3.36-2 I have a bluetooth Philips a2dp headset that I can play music to using, e.g., mplayer -ao alsa:device=bluetooth music.ogg But there appears to be no way to adjust the volume of the audio. The bluetooth device does not appear in /proc/asound/cards, so alsamixer and friends don't see the bluetooth device. Mplayer's inbuilt volume control seems to do nothing either. I can't find any info on the bluetooth wiki or in /usr/share/doc on how to set up a daemon to listen to AVRP requests either, which is, I think, why the volume buttons on the headset do nothing. -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 2.6.27 (PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=en_US.ISO-8859-15, LC_CTYPE=en_US.ISO-8859-15 (charmap=ISO-8859-15) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages bluez-audio depends on: ii libasound2 1.0.16-2 ALSA library ii libc6 2.7-15GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libglib2.0-0 2.16.6-1 The GLib library of C routines ii libgstreamer-plugins-base0 0.10.20-1 GStreamer libraries from the "base ii libgstreamer0.10-0 0.10.20-1 Core GStreamer libraries and eleme ii libxml22.6.32.dfsg-4 GNOME XML library bluez-audio recommends no packages. bluez-audio suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". When I installed etch on my laptop and subsequently upgraded it to sid, I was without working wireless. I was getting messages on the console regarding missing firmware, but wasn't able to diagnose what the problem was easily, as I couldn't see a package to do with 'iwl3945' that was missing. In the end, I resorted to 'apt-get install iwl', to no avail. I was finally able to resolve the problem, but it took me much longer than was necessary. Isn't that specific to US copyright law? It will not become public domain in other countries just because of a missing copyright notice. Hi Patrick, Initially, I had submitted an unblock request for 2.4.2-1, which was acted upon. I don't recall sending in a request for 2.4.2-3, but I might have. No Debian users reported bugs, but all patches in 2.4.2-3 are bugfix-only patches fixed by upstream after users submitted bugs upstream. I have high confidence in the stability of these upstream patches, which are posted on the SourceForge download page as interim patches to fix issues before the next release comes out. You can see more details about each patch here: http://git.debian.org/?p=users/jgoerzen/bacula Clicking on "commit" for each one will show the log message from upstream. The patches in 2.4.2-3 address some bugs that could cause crashes of Bacula in certain obscure corner cases. 2.4.2-2 has some changes to translations that would be nice to have, but non-cricitical. I have been quite busy in the last couple of weeks and have not had the chance to evaluate the patch in 2.4.2-3.1, but from looking at the comments in the bug, it looks like it has been tested. I would recommend at least 2.4.2-3 into lenny, if not 2.4.2-3.1 as well. -- John -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

No, not that time. I'm used to sync devices via command line, but I tought that if a device is mounted with sync option tha data is actually written to the disk when any command to do so is given. The result of that is that $var never gets set which > results in the "incorrect number of arguments" error later. Although it is fast, it seems to me that using shell parameter expansion to split fields for preseeding is possibly asking for problems, especially given that a preseed string can contain any amount of weirdness. I also doubt we have any real chance to fix this issue in busybox before lenny. Therefore attached two patches for debconf-set-selections that change the parsing to instead use grep and sed, two commands which IMO can be expected to be better tested and more robust when it comes to this kind of string manipulation. I think that the slight loss in speed is justified by the increased stability. The first patch also removes any leading and trailing whitespace for multi-line definitions leaving only a single space between split lines. This will make the values in the cdebconf database more compact. Because of the way split lines are defined we do not lose any functionality. The second patch also adds a few sanity checks for syntax errors. It also adds correct support for the case where a user forgets to add separating whitespace after the template type when he wants to set an empty value; IMO it is reasonable to support that as it's an easy mistake to make. We could even strengthen that test by not allowing empty values for e.g. boolean and select templates, but I've not included that in these patches. I've tested the patches moderately and everything seems to work as intended. commit 14ac5e7cae1852cec284c300bdbf666297489fe4 Author: Frans Pop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Tue Oct 21 16:51:18 2008 +0200 Change line continuation handling diff --git a/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections b/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections index 3697d19..ad43451 100755 --- a/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections +++ b/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections @@ -23,11 +23,13 @@ SPACE=$(echo -en "[ \t]") for line in $(grep -v '^#\|^[[:space:]]*$' "$file" | sed "s/$CR//g"); do IFS="$OLDIFS" - if [ "$line" != "${line%}" ]; then - multiline="$multiline${line%}" + line="$(echo "$line" | sed 's/^[[:space:]]*//')" + if echo "$line" | grep -q '\\$'; then + multiline="${multiline:+$multiline }$(echo "$line" | \ + sed 's/[[:space:]]*\\$//')" continue elif [ -n "$multiline" ]; then - line="$multiline$line" + line="${multiline:+$multiline }$line" multiline="" fi commit f1bf9988f6b6bfb4da69541fc8a18aef2335a9c4 Author: Frans Pop <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Tue Oct 21 17:25:05 2008 +0200 Make parsing of fields more robust diff --git a/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections b/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections index ad43451..0b1ee46 100755 --- a/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections +++ b/packages/preseed/debconf-set-selections @@ -13,12 +13,29 @@ fi file="$1" +parse_error() { + echo "$1" >> $logfile + log "Error parsing preconfiguration file; see '$logfile' for details" + exit 1 +} + +# Returns the first field in the current line +first_field() { + echo "$line" | grep -q "[[:space:]]" || return 1 + echo "$line" | sed -r 's/^([^[:space:]]*).*/\1/' +} +# Returns any fields after the first field in the current line +rest_line() { + if echo "$line" | grep -q "[[:space:]]"; then + echo "$line" | sed 's/^[^[:space:]]*[[:space:]]*//' + fi +} + OLDIFS="$IFS" NEWLINE=" " IFS="$NEWLINE" CR=$(echo -en "\r") -SPACE=$(echo -en "[ \t]") # TODO: this squashes \r elsewhere in the line too for line in $(grep -v '^#\|^[[:space:]]*$' "$file" | sed "s/$CR//g"); do IFS="$OLDIFS" @@ -39,20 +56,24 @@ for line in $(grep -v '^#\|^[[:space:]]*$' "$file" | sed "s/$CR//g"); do var="" type="" val="" - while [ "$line" != "${line#*$SPACE}" ]; do - if [ -n "${line%%$SPACE*}" ]; then - if [ -z "$package" ]; then -package="${line%%$SPACE*}" - elif [ -z "$var" ]; then -var="${line%%$SPACE*}" - elif [ -z "$type" ]; then -type="${line%%$SPACE*}" -val="${line#*$SPACE}" -break - fi + if ! package="$(first_field)"; then + parse_error "Syntax error: unable to determine template owner" + fi + line="$(rest_line)" + if ! var="$(first_field)"; then + parse_error "Syntax error: unable to determine template name" + fi + line="$(rest_line)" + if ! type="$(first_field)"; then + # Allow for lines without separator before an empty value + if [ "$line" ]; then + type="$line" + else + parse_error "Syntax error: unable to determine template type" fi - line="${line#*$SPACE}" - done + fi + line="$(rest_line)" + val="$line"

But only on amd64 it seems. Upstream bug is already opened on this. I don't think upstream will have time to work on this (they are on freeze time for releasing 4.6, which squeeze is not part of).
That's the PTS, and I thought it was called like that by everyone? And ... if you would have left this paragraph in connection with the other one I wrote: | Same with me - I managed to get quite some of my upstream developers to | subscribe through the PTS to some keywords, and I also see the PTS as a | useful ressource for mainly other people interested in my packages. | Personally, from a package maintainer's view, I don't really use it for | my own packages, here the qa.d.o/dev.php overview is much more helpful. ... you could have seen that I mentioned the PTS in that one explicitly. I was talking about three different parts here: First the PTS for upstream and other interested people, the qa developer overview for developer's overview themself, and the packages.debian.org pages for the end users. > I'm replying making that assumption. Then your assumption is unfortunately wrong. Please don't assume that I don't mean what I write (left aside language barriers), especially not when you try to tell me that what you assume that I meant is wrong and different from what I wrote. ;) > Well, packages.qa.debian.org is not user oriented, it has always been > developer oriented, no matter how you use it :) I never used it that way. :) > This heritage comes from, if you want to see that way actually, the > fact that its being source package oriented, while in general users > know nothing about source packages. See above, never meant that, and not even wrote that. :) > Hence, having patches linked from there is something we really want. Exactly my words, the PTS is absolutely the proper place for it. In the qa/developer.php page on the contrary I don't see much place for it (but that propably would be another cookie thing to click off if one really wants it - but then, the developers hopefully know already what they patched), and in the packages.d.o pages for the users they aren't really needed neither. So we are absolutely on the same side here. :) Rhonda -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#496174: bacula probably needs unblocking
Hi, today I was diving through the list of rc bugs and stumbled across #496174. Appearently there has been an unblock request by luk for version 2.4.2-3 of this package. But in the meantime there has been an upload 2.4.2-3.1. Additional to that I would like to note, that the changelog of 2.4.2-3 is sort of cryptic (some "applied upstream patch" entries) and its not really possible for outstanding persons to say weither the upload was intended for lenny or not. So either: 1) The package needs an hint for version 2.4.2-3.1 if it is sure that 2.4.2-3 with its changeset should have been included into Lenny or 2) If 2.4.2-3 with its changeset should not have been included into Lenny then 2.4.2-3.1 is not suitable for Lenny as well. Please note: I don't intend tosay that 2.4.2-3 should not be included into Lenny, because I didn't check it properly, but it looks suspicious enough to provoke my attention. Bug#486354: Some possibly strange things in that strace log.
Hello. I looked in the strace and found this couple of files that seem strange: 12613 open("/usr/lib/iceweasel/components/xpti.dat.tmp", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied) 12613 open("/usr/lib/iceweasel/components/xpti.dat.tmp", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied) and 12613 open("/usr/lib/iceweasel/components/compreg.dat.tmp", O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0664) = -1 EACCES (Permission denied) I couldn't find those lines in my strace! Also, try to remove temporarily the plugins in /usr/lib/iceweasel/plugins/ to see if they cause the problems. I don't know, maybe try to reinstal iceweasel or xulrunner, etc. Hope this helps, bye. -- Ivan Baldo - [EMAIL PROTECTED] - http://ibaldo.codigolibre.net/ From Montevideo, Uruguay, at the south of South America.
