Bug#511250: serious bug

2009-04-22 Thread Artur

This is very serious bug.

Because of it our couriertcpd hangs every few hour.

We used a workaround suggested by Marcus Pereira here:
http://www.nabble.com/couriertcpd-hangs-to22823968.html

Best regards,
Artur

Hmmm, I was confused by the information reportbug provided.

Please install junior-config first or give more information about
your specific installation.

Ok, I tried a reinstall of junior-config, but it still complains about the
missing file, output is as follows (sorry, it is in italian):

Fine for now - because I can parse the relevant part. For the future doing an
  unset LANG
or something like that is a good idea when reporting problems.

Configuro junior-config (1.13) ...
Custom Debian Distribution configuration file /etc/cdd/cdd.conf is missing.

Yesterday evening a seemed to be blind because the problem is not in
junior-config but rather ion cdd-common. I'm afraid you detected a
flaw in the upgrade path I tried to provide from cdd-common to blends-common.
You might have noticed that Custom Debian Distributions are now called
Debian Pure Blends and thus I renamed the package. To gain compatibility
a dummy package cdd-common was builded - but it just contains links to
the blends tools.

I think what I was missing is to provide links to the new config files
as well and honestly - I wonder whether we are asking for even more
trouble if I'm doing so.

IMHO your very specific problem is that you are trying to install the
junior packages which were builded against the old cdd-dev tools while
the new blends-dev tools just hit testing. I currently have no better
idea than suggesting to try the junior-* packages that currently sit
in unstable (and will move to testing next week most probably). This
should work fine and than the issue you observed should be void.

I don't think that I can do more about this problem in the current state
than suggesting to use the metapackages from unstable (and only these -
they should work perfectly with a testing system) ... and say sorry
for the confusion.

Thanks for your bug report anyway

 Andreas.

Bug#485242: bibledit: FTBFS when converted to new source format 3.0 (quilt): require -p0 for some patches

2009-04-22 Thread Raphael Hertzog
On Tue, 21 Apr 2009, Jonathan Marsden wrote:
 Raphael,

I *think* this issue is fixed in the bibledit 3.7-1 packages recently
uploaded to unstable. However, I'm not 100 %sure, being somewhat new to
Debian package maintenance. The patches that needed -p0 in the
debian/patches/series file are no longer present.

Because I am unsure, I did not put a Closes: #485242 in the changelog
 for bibledit 3.7-1.

Could you please either: (a) confirm for me that this bug is now fixed,
or (b) let me know specifically how to test for it and what is still
needed to get this closed? The instructions in this bug report and
those in bug #457345 about how to create a package in this new source
format appear to be different -- which ones should I really be using?

There are no instructions in #457345 as far as I can see. To create a
new format source package do the following:
$ mkdir -p debian/source
$ echo 3.0 (quilt) debian/source/format
$ dpkg-buildpackage -S

Then remove the source directory and try to extract the new source package
and do a normal rebuild. If it works, the bug is fixed.

Everything about those new formats is documented in dpkg-source's manual
page.

Cheers,

No, I'm using KWin. It suddenly appeared. It was working before and

When show only tasks that are minimized is selected under taskbar settings

GTK applications' windows (such as pidgin's chat windows) vanish to
background of the desktop rather than the taskbar area when the option is
selected and the window is minimized. This behaviour is not observed in QT4
applications such as konsole under same circumstances.

Maybe you are using compiz instead of kwin? It sounds like a window
manager issue. It works for me using kwin.

The only files which won't get installed anymore are /etc/grub.d/10_hurd
and 10_freebsd on Linux systems and likewise for 10_linux on non Linux
 system like Hurd and kFreebsd.
They won't yet removed on an upgrade but for this we already have a

Bug#525096: get-config-dir never called if -z $monserver

2009-04-22 Thread Michael Tautschnig
Package: fai-client
Version: 3.2.18
Severity: serious
Tags: patch
Justification: major component is broken

A small code re-arrangement in r5338 caused fai to skip the call to
get-config-dir if the following return is taken (from task_confdir in
subroutines-linux):

78 # check if monitor server is available
 79 [ -z $monserver ] monserver=$SERVER
 80 if [ -z $monserver ]; then
81 echo No monitor daemon defined.
 82 return
 83 fi

As of r5338, get-config-dir is called in task_confdir, but _after_ these lines
of code. Therefore it will never be called and no config space is fetched. Note
that monserver will be empty on softupdates, dirinstalls or installs using a
fixed IP configuration, unless set explicitly.

Of course, softupdates without an updated config space are quite useless (note
that there is _some_ config space available when using a storage other than NFS,
its just not up-to-date).

A bugfix for this issue is attached and also included in 3.2.18+experimental27.

Best,
Michael

Bug#524566: Non-DFSG files distributed in fluidsynth package

The non-DFSG files is a soundfont and some documentation, and is only
included in the upstream tarball, so no binary packages are affected.

I could use some advice on how to proceed, and possibly some assistance
as well.

I would propose to fix it first in unstable (by repacking upstream
tarball by removing the files an recreating the tarball and using
another upstream version in debian/changelog like adding .dfsg.1). If
that worked out ok, feel free to do similar things for the version in
stable and oldstable.

Bug#525100: inkscape: does not permit to set 100% r/g/b/alpha in Fill and Stroke

2009-04-22 Thread Alexander Bürger
Package: inkscape
Version: 0.46-6
Severity: important

Dear inkscape maintainers/packagers,

the color sliders in the Fill and Stroke dialog only allow values from
0 to 245. This applies for red, green, blue, and especially for alpha.
Therefore the only way to create non-transparent objects is to use the
XML editor after each color change.

I would expect that this is a typo somewhere, accidentally replacing 255
with 245.

Best regards,

Alexander Bürger

tests/install/install-C uses mode 1755 to test install -C with
non-permission bits set, that is the sticky bit set. Depending on the
system, it is not always possible to set this bit for files (but
allowed for directories) as non-root user. That's is the case for
example on FreeBSD with an UFS filesystem.

The patch below uses 2755 instead of 1755, which should work on all
systems. It has already been submitted upstream.

Please note that this patch has been merged upstream.

Bug#524787: ITP: unicorn -- Drivers and applications for the Bewan ADSL PCI ST and USB modems

2009-04-22 Thread Nick Leverton
On Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 01:10:26AM +0200, Cyril Brulebois wrote:
 Nick Leverton n...@leverton.org (19/04/2009):
This is really an ITA for the existing unicorn and unicorn-source
packages which were somewhat precipitately removed from Debian two
  weeks ago.

Well, I don't call that “precipitately”:

Hi Cyril,

Thanks for your interest in my IT(re)P and your comments.

RoQA was end of january, fixed 2 months later. I don't call that
“precipitated”. And those reasons look quite good to me…

Of the stated reasons for removal:

 | Please remove unicorn:
 | - mostly unused (2 in popcon for the binary package unicorn)

The unicorn binary package contains ancillary utils which are frankly
of little use. A better metric for the use of driver packages such
as unicorn would be the module source. Unicorn-source scores a not
completely moribund 50 users.

A better decision on the package's user base could have been gathered
by considering all the packages built from unicorn, not just one of them.

 | - unmaintained (last upload from a year ago)

As mentioned in the removal proposal it was very hasty on those grounds
alone. There are packages which haven't been uploaded since Etch,
are they unmaintained as a result ?

 | - doesn't build with Lenny kernel

I had done considerable work on this following the discussion in #394465
and was preparing an NMU even as the removal was being considered.
Just a ping on the bug would have got my attention rather than assuming
the package was not being worked on.

My NMU was already on Mentors seeking an upload when the package was
actually removed.

 | - not in Lenny

Again, not of itself a reason for removal IMO, only if there were no
action on it and it was hence unlikely to be in squeeze. Myself and
others were working on updating it as seen in #394465 but didn't have
time before the freeze.

 | - depends on legacy libs (GTK 1.2), which will be removed soon

Trivial to fix, took me about 2 hours once pointed out. No bug was raised
on this issue beforehand; it's a reason for raising a fresh bug with a
warning of removal, perhaps, but still not a reason for removal IMO.

 | - lacks support for important archs like amd64 (#306322)

This one is problematical to fix but not a reason for removal IMO as long
as there are i386 users who need it (50 according to popcon, placing it
almost 10,000 packages from the bottom ranking)

My biggest beef with this removal is that no bug was filed against
unicorn itself. I have been monitoring the package to see what bugs I
could fix in my NMU. Had there been any hint that the above causes for
removal were being considered I could have responded and dealt with them.

But I think this removal was not even justified according to the stated
grounds, and only allowing the last uploader 3 weeks to reply after a
ping is perhaps a bit precipitate before deciding they are MIA. I can't
speak for him but I certainly had email to him bounce at around that time,
apparently due to to Sourceforge mail servers.

I think that perhaps I should open a bug on the removal process, so
that at least removal notices are filed against the actual package,
and due time is given for other interested parties to respond. It is
not as if the removal of unicorn was necessary to get a new release out
or to enable some blocked transition involving hundreds of other packages.

  * Package name: unicorn
Version : 0.9.3
Upstream Author : Frode Isaksen fisak...@bewan.com
  * URL : http://www.bewan.com
  * License : GPL and Proprietary
   ^^^

What the hell? Oh, that's for non-free, apparently, OK…

Yep. It's GPL interface code to a closed-source but redistributable
binary, like many other bits of non-free. I intend to have another push
at the distributor to get the closed-source bit opened, and if they won't
then I hope I have sufficient experience to reverse engineer it if the
Unicorn driver is still widely used by then. Others may disagree but
I think it's more environmentally friendly to re-use old second hand
hardware as I am doing, even if non-free when originally sold, rather
than to create still more electronic waste.

Anyway as I say, thanks for your interest and your time in responding.
I hope I've addressed your comments fairly.

Nick

Bug#524834: ITP: syncmaildir -- Sync Mail Dir is a set of tools to synchronize Maildirs

2009-04-22 Thread Adeodato Simó
Hello!, Enrico. (I’m adding -devel back in case there can be people
interested on this.)

On Mon, Apr 20, 2009 at 05:35:20PM +0200, Adeodato Simó wrote:
So does it support (or will it support) using it in the “fetch from
server, read/delete some stuff on client, maybe read some stuff on the
server, push to server” mode, and it’ll do all the smart sync stuff (I’m
  told) OfflineIMAP does?

Sorry, but I don't get it. I'll try to answer anyway...

You have 2 commands: smd-pull that propagates chenges made on the server
to the client, and smd-push that does the opposite. These changes
include adding a message, deleting one, renaming, updaing the header...
I usually pull more frequently than push, so the updating cycle you are
describing is not strictly necessary in smd. In any case, the words
server and client don't make any real sense here, it is very symmetric.

Right. My question is what happens if I do, say:

  laptop% smd-push
  laptop% smd-pull # this brings message M as new
laptop% read mail, including message M
server% read mail, inclluding message M; flag message M
  laptop% smd-push
  laptop% smd-pull

Are either laptop or server left with a duplicate copies of M (perhaps
one flagged, one not)? Or, perhaps, you’ll see it more clearly if we say
there is one server and to clients, eg. a desktop and a laptop, both of
which should be useable to read mail independently.

I must confess I’m not an OfflineIMAP user myself, but as I understood
it, it can gracefully cope with such situation.

I think I'll (I'm also the upstream) develop some sort while-true script
that will iterate pull and push and eventually notify the user if
something goes wrong with some modern eye-candy technology.

AFAIK OfflineIMAP gives you (or will give you soon) something more
 called always-connected-with-ther-server-to-fetch-mail-ASAP option
that smd does not provide right now (and that I really don't miss: since
pulling is quite fast for the moment I'm not missing the while true
script either...). Moreover OfflineIMAP is well tested, and smd is not
 beeing a *very* young software.

Cheers,

Bug#522809: pidgin: It may be related to gstreamer-0.10 issue

2009-04-22 Thread Fabio Natali
Package: pidgin
Version: 2.5.5-1
Severity: normal

Hi there!

My Pidgin crashes as soon as I enable a XMPP account, and I get the very same
backtrace as in the previous post.

I temporarily solved by renaming the libgstladspa.so library from
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad:

# mv /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstladspa.so
/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstladspa.so_old

Bug#523502: Could somebody upload this? TIA. (was RFS: quick-lounge-applet (updated package))

2009-04-22 Thread Adeodato Simó
It’d be great if somebody would take a look into uploading this package,
since it’s needed for the gnome-desktop transition. Many thanks in advance!

+ Diego Fernández Durán (Fri, 10 Apr 2009 23:36:17 +0200):

 Dear mentors,

I am looking for a sponsor for the new version 2.12.5-6
 of my package quick-lounge-applet.

 It builds these binary packages:
quick-lounge-applet - GNOME panel applet to organise preferred applications

The package appears to be lintian clean.

The upload would fix these bugs: 523502

The package can be found on mentors.debian.net:
 - URL: http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/quick-lounge-applet
 - Source repository: deb-src http://mentors.debian.net/debian unstable main
 contrib non-free
 - dget
 http://mentors.debian.net/debian/pool/main/q/quick-lounge-applet/quick-lounge-applet_2.12.5-6.dsc

I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me.

 Kind regards

Bug#478883: TLS_CACERTDIR and bug #478883

2009-04-22 Thread Sergio Gelato
I've run into essentially the same symptoms as the original poster for
this bug: etch slapd (I haven't tried lenny's yet) accepted SSL/TLS
connections from etch ldapsearch, but not from hardy or lenny
ldapsearch. (I might add that it didn't accept connections from lenny
nslcd, package libnss-ldapd, either.) Using openssl s_client or
gnutls-cli everything looked all right.

Digging deeper with slapd -d 65535 and ldapsearch -d 65535 I found that
in my case the TLS handshake was completing normally:

conn=0 fd=15 TLS established tls_ssf=256 ssf=256

but that the client closed the connection immediately afterwards with

TLS: peer cert untrusted or revoked (0x42)

A clue was provided by the message, earlier in ldapsearch debugging output:

TLS: warning: cacertdir not implemented for gnutls

This is also documented in the ldap.conf(5) man page, but undeniably
constitutes a regression from the earlier OpenSSL-based packages (etch).
In my case, switching to single-file TLS_CACERT did solve the problem.

I see that the original poster did have tls_cacert (lowercase, but my
testing indicates that the keyword is case-insensitive) in ldap.conf.
Maybe the file didn't contain the correct CA certificate? Or maybe there
is another way of producing essentially the same symptoms? It would be
interesting if the original poster could try running ldapsearch with
the -d option.

Yes. While that remains true this bug is not resolved.

I believe the following code in emacsen-install does takes care of
 it:

Perhaps; I don't know what the solution is. If this addition to that
file is the solution, then this bug needs that addition released
before this bug is resolved.

Not supporting emacs21 is one thing, but *conflicting* with it is

Okay. I leave it to your judgement to know how best to resolve this so
that installing ‘org-mode’ in the presence of ‘emacs21’ doesn't fail
with an error.

In /usr/src/modules/nvidia-kernel/conftest.h on line 163
change
#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE = KERNEL_VERSION(2,6,29)
to
#if LINUX_VERSION_CODE = KERNEL_VERSION(2,6,28)

This made a successful build for me.

Could you please run it under strace and send me the output?

strace -f -o /tmp/geotranz.str /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-openjdk/bin/java -jar

It'd be nice also run it under ltrace, but it isn't working for me on i386,
ltrace seems not very happy with the threads java is creating.

I think the problem is the java virtual machine. Could you please try it
with other programs to check if it works ok?

Bug#522266: gnome-keyring is still misbehaving

2009-04-22 Thread Apelete Seketeli
Package: gnome-keyring
Version: 2.26.0-4
Severity: normal

I'm still having some problems with gnome-keyring too.
Here's a description of the problem:
 - when I log in gnome-keyring sometimes (quite frequently) fails to unlock the
keyring (though it is started),
 - mail-notification thus fails to check my mail. If I launch seahorse I'm
asked to manually enter the keyring password,
 - after doing so, mail-notification stills fails to connect to the keyring
daemon
 - if I end the mail-notification process and relaunch it, problem is solved

I have attached a file containing errors related to the problem (extracted from

How about a command-line option? I doubt that I would recompile
hex-a-hop every time it will update (if that happens), but thanks
 anyway.

Also, Debian doesn't need to agree when an author intends something.
Especially in case of hex-a-hop, where upstream is dead/taken over by
us, it is a good idea to rethink such policy decisions. As far as I'm
concerned, we should remove the limit completely. I don't see a reason
for limiting undo steps at all.

Bug#504513: kopete: Kopete crashes out of the blue

Got up from the computer (so I wasn't even doing anything) to find kopete
crashing with
the following message :

This backtrace appears to be of no use.
This is probably because your packages are built in a way which prevents
creation of proper backtraces, or the stack frame was seriously corrupted in
the crash.

Ah, that was the crucial missing part. The latest release I was aware
of was yesterday's release of 6.26a-1.

which I tested installs fine with emacs21 present on the system, and
was asking that you confirm it doesn't for you.

Fixed in 6.26a-4, as far as I can tell. (Other problems now revealed
with emacs21 versus other packages, but ‘org-mode’ is apparently
installed fine now.)

Bug#524834: ITP: syncmaildir -- Sync Mail Dir is a set of tools to synchronize Maildirs

2009-04-22 Thread Enrico Tassi
On Wed, Apr 22, 2009 at 09:26:22AM +0200, Adeodato Simó wrote:
Right. My question is what happens if I do, say:

   laptop% smd-push
   laptop% smd-pull # this brings message M as new
laptop% read mail, including message M
server% read mail, inclluding message M; flag message M
   laptop% smd-push
   laptop% smd-pull

So, your question is, what happens if there is a conflict (in VCS
terminology).

So far there is no smart conflict solver, the software just tells you
what is wrong, and which files (mails) are interested. It suggest you to
move away one of them to finish the sync, then you help yourself
(that usually means having on one of the two sides a copy of the same
message with different flags, the you run mutt and press d on one of
them).

I'm not that convinced that the usecase you mention is that common, and
at least for me, it seems more a place for software overdesign than
software features. Remember here that this is a Mailbox, with an
owner... your usecase is something like having 2 checkouts of the same
software repository and deliberately making incompatible changes on
the 2 checkouts and then committing... would you do that? not that often
I bet.

I'd like to keep the software simple, so unsless I really face this
problem, I would avoid implementing this feature. Moreover, the software
is layered: mechanisms are in C (and they are able to give upper layers
enough information to detect your pattern), while policies are in a
scripting language I like (deliberate choice was Lua) and it should be
reasonably easy to not duplicate the message but simply add the flag.

In any case, thank you all very much for your comments!

Bug#231808: With no server set-up, installing nis is guaranteed to fail its init.d restart

2009-04-22 Thread Edward Welbourne
Since ypbind is able to discover servers automatically

What needs to be set up to make that work ?

Getting that configured (presumably on the local network) would indeed
make this a non-problem, at least for me. Describing these details in
the package's README.Debian might help, too ... I'm unable to get a
clue from man ypbind, and /usr/share/doc/nis/nis.debian.howto.gz only
tells me how to set up each host, not what network (DHCP?) config will
ensure that ypbind can discover the right server without me having to
hand-edit yp.conf and restart nis after it's failed to start on
install; or is this just some detail of the NIS server config,
e.g. making it listen for broadcast ?

Eddy.

It's always best to *try* the version that closes a specific bug before

Bug#525107: tracker: Provide more conservative default options

2009-04-22 Thread Olivier Berger
Package: tracker
Version: 0.6.93-1+b1

Tracker defaults to options which maximize usage of resources, often leading to
problems for the user (see #467270 for instance).

I'd very much suggest to change its default, for example in a way similar to

This would ensure the user is not bothered too much unless asking so.

It seems that the default options are fare too aggressive, and starting over
with nicer ones (see #525107) helps workaround the issue.

Hope this helps,

Bug#520844: evince: ghostscript as a recommends

Maybe if evince doesn't fail miserably if libspectre1 or other dependencies of
the backends aren't found, we could exclude them from Depends and put them on
Recommends, or maybe split the backends into separate packages (I don't like
this). Downgrading them to recommends sounds better, but we should find a way
 to
autogenerate the recommends, maybe running dpkg-shlibdeps for
usr/lib/evince/backends and placing the result in Recommends (not sure if this
 would be possible).

Although this would work, we would get gazillions of bug reports saying
that evince cannot read PS documents.

No, thanks.

What is the list of running processes, especially GConf and D-Bus

Bug#524992: gnome-settings-daemon: Faulty keyboard layout when logging in from remote

8, z is Enter and other weird things.

What is the output of:
gconftool-2 -R /desktop/gnome/peripherals/keyboard/kbd
xprop -root | grep XKB

This is caused by the keyboard plugin of the gnome-settings-daemon. When I
disable that plugin (by removing the plugin file from
/usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-2.0), the keyboard layout is correct.

You can disable the plugin in GConf instead of removing the file; but I
suspect this is caused by a misconfiguration anyway.

Cheers,

Bug#524880: INTERNAL ERROR in setup-storage: convert_unit

2009-04-22 Thread Nicolas Courtel

Sorry for the late reply; this error seems quite odd - could you help a bit in
debugging this?

Could you please re-start an install and once it aborts as shown above, please
run

- vgdisplay
- perl -w vol.pl (script is attached)

and send the output?

Well, I'm afraid I can't reproduce it now, as I don't have the host
which failed any more, and setup-storage is desperately successful on
another host :-) .
I should be able to get the host back in a couple of days, though, and
run the two scripts.

Bug#524419: Same bugs with pure-ftpd-mysql

2009-04-22 Thread laradji nacer
The command /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper is call by the inetd service at
connection and it call /ust/sbin/pure-ftpd .
It need to call the command : /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-mysql when you use it
with mysql or /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-postgresql when you use it with postgresql

I have modified the line 26 of /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper with this to
make it work :

my $daemon = '/usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-mysql';

The problem is that the wrapper is in pure-ftpd-common
dpkg --search /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper
pure-ftpd-common: /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper

Perhaps we need to have different wrapper for each backend pure-ftpd have ?
/usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper-mysql
   -postgresql
   -ect...

Or patch /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper on the fly with debconf when
installing a different backend , i don't now if debian policies
authorise that (modify a file from a other package) .

Bug#525112: kmail: crashes when deleting message from IMAP server

Package: kmail
Version: 4:3.5.9-5
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have crashes when deleting messages from an IMAP server (Microsoft
Exchange) using the Del key. Backtrace attached.

Unforunately, I cannot wait for the debugging and will use Outlook to
clean up the mailbox before continuing to work. I hope the backtrace
helps.

This may be related to #474140 which was recently closed.

Greetings
Marc

Bug#231808: With no server set-up, installing nis is guaranteed to fail its init.d restart

Getting that configured (presumably on the local network) would indeed
make this a non-problem, at least for me. Describing these details in

It should Just Work with no setup required if the server is on the same
subnet - I'll need to test again but this did work last time I tried.

 the package's README.Debian might help, too ...

The server not listening for broadcast is the most likely explanation.
The thing that's supposed to deal with the broadcasts is actually
portmap rather than ypserv itself. Looking at the manual page I can't
immediately see an option that would stop this without also breaking the
rest of nis.

I'll have a look when I'm not at work.

No, this has nothing to do with it.

us = qwerty + uk = qwerty fails
us = qwerty + gr = ;ςερτυ works
us = qwerty + de = qwertz works

 of course, de_qwerty also fails.

That's because cz_qwerty, de_qwerty and uk don't exist.  And shockingly,
existing layouts work, and nonexisting ones don't.

What's even more shocking is that these layouts exised in earlier
versions of Xorg, and even work when not combined with another layout,
at least cz_qwerty.

Thanks

I have modified the line 26 of /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper with this to
make it work :

my $daemon = '/usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-mysql';

The problem is that the wrapper is in pure-ftpd-common
dpkg --search /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper
pure-ftpd-common: /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper

Perhaps we need to have different wrapper for each backend pure-ftpd have ?
/usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper-mysql
   -postgresql
   -ect...

Or patch /usr/sbin/pure-ftpd-wrapper on the fly with debconf when
installing a different backend , i don't now if debian policies
authorise that (modify a file from a other package) .

The wrapper itself is able to use different daemons:

if ($ARGV[0]) {
$daemon = $daemon-$ARGV[0];
}

The problem is that the record for the inet service misses the
commandline argument.

Hi!

When building a backport (and propably the same for volatile)
dpkg-genchanges warns about that the current version is smaller than the
previous -- which they have to be by definition.

Maybe the warning should consider ~bpo and ~vola as valid lower-than
patterns.

I completely forgot about this bug, sorry :) Maybe it's too obsolete now...

This patch changes the name of a bunch of variables (kde code is hard
to understand), adds docs, and (to actually fix the bug), adds a
signal itemSelected - slotResetAffect... This resets the affect
position pointer every time we select a new view so operations happen
on the new view until the user makes a new right click. I also
removed some calls to the reset function which are redundant now.

This also fixes moving a tab after moving *to* a different tab using
shift+arrow which I didn't notice in the original report.

I forgot about it too, so.. :)
Current yakuake version is 2.9.4 made to work with KDE 4.2 in unstable, did
you made the patch against the KDE 3 version of the current KDE 4 one?
FWIW, I can not reproduce your problem in current KDE 4 from unstable.

Bug#524880: INTERNAL ERROR in setup-storage: convert_unit

2009-04-22 Thread Michael Tautschnig

Sorry for the late reply; this error seems quite odd - could you help a bit
 in
 debugging this?

Could you please re-start an install and once it aborts as shown above,
 please
 run

 - vgdisplay
 - perl -w vol.pl (script is attached)

 and send the output?

Well, I'm afraid I can't reproduce it now, as I don't have the host
which failed any more, and setup-storage is desperately successful on
 another host :-) .

Is that one using LVM as well?

I should be able to get the host back in a couple of days, though, and
 run the two scripts.

Thanks!!!

Best,
Michael

Version: 0.7.0-1
Severity: normal

The three line program:

from scipy import sparse

fails with a KeyError.

This is fixed in scipy svn, so the next release should fix the bug
automatically.
The fix in svn is a change to the definition of __setitem__ in
scipy/sparse/dok.py

if value==0:

should be changed to

if value==0 and self.has_key((i,j)):

but waiting for the next release will solve it automatically.

I think I managed to fix such issues by killing all tracker processes, removing

restarting the tracker-applet and the indexing preferences, where I changed for

#525107).

Now, tracker is no longer in my way, and the system becomes usable back.

Hope this helps,

Bug#525123: xserver-xorg-video-intel on Intel 82852/855GM: display corrupted

2009-04-22 Thread Joe Dennigan
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel
Version: 2:2.7.0-1

On starting X the display is scrambled. To correct this, I have to edit
xorg.conf to disable EXA and enable UXA. X then starts normally but
lines of text in apps like abiword and the emacs splash screen are
corrupted into pixel high lines of dots. Reverting xorg.conf to the
original state and restarting X now fixes all problems. That is, on the
third startup all works normally until the next system reboot.

This problem does not arise when using the vesa driver.

Complete xorg.conf:

Bug#525122: uim does not work in applications with different locale

2009-04-22 Thread Michal Suchanek hramr...@centrum.cz
Package: uim
Version: 1:1.5.3-1
Severity: normal

Hello

I tried building the ja_JP.UTF-8 locale to test some Wine problem but
uim would not show its window when wine running in this locale has
focus.

I tried running urxvt in the locale and it is also impossible to
activate uim in that urxvt. wine and urxvt in en_US.UTF-8 works.

Bug#525121: fdm: leave mail on server

2009-04-22 Thread Ritesh Raj Sarraf
Package: fdm
Version: 1.5-3
Severity: normal

My email account is on an exchange server that I access through IMAP.
I also download a copy of the emails from the exachange server using POP3, for
backup purpose.

With fdm, when I pull the emails through POP3, it downloads emails, and
then deletes them on the server. I somehow was able to restore my inbox
folder on the exchange server.
But then, on next fetch, it again attempts to download all the messages
that it already had downloaded previously.
Shouldn't fdm be keeping track of already downloaded messages ?
And how do I tell fdm to leave a copy of the message that it is
downloading ?

I looked into the docs but not much is explained in your example files.

Bug#525120: Strange authlog lines from pam_succeed_if

2009-04-22 Thread Harald Hellmuth
Package: libpam-modules
Version: 0.79-5+etch1
Debian-Version: Etch(4.0)
Libc-Version: 2.3.6.ds1-13etch9

Hi,

I use pam_succeed_if to ensure that only certain users can use su:

Here's my /etc/pam.d/su:

# /etc/pam.d/su
auth sufficient pam_rootok.so
auth required pam_succeed_if.so use_uid user = u1
auth required pam_wheel.so root_only
session required pam_env.so readenv=1
session required pam_env.so readenv=1 envfile=/etc/default/locale
sessionoptional pam_mail.so nopen
@include common-auth
@include common-account
@include common-session

# /etc/pam.d/su

What irritates me are the following entries in /var/log/auth:

# if user is OK:
pam_succeed_if:requirement user = u1 was met by user /bin/bash

# Otherwise:
pam_succeed_if: requirement user = u1 not met by user /bin/bash

The module seems to work correctly, but the logentries are obviously
wrong. There's no user named /bin/bash :-) It's u1's shell.

Any idea, what is wrong here.

Kind regards,

Harald Hellmuth
