Bug#566272: shares-admin fails to start: Error loading UI

2010-01-23 Thread Dr . O . Muth
Bonjour Josselin,

Merci beaucoup for the quick response and for pointing me to the right file (I
was looking in the backends directory).

  ii  libgtk2.0-0 2.18.3-1~bpo50+1 The GTK+ graphical user
 interface
I think this was pulled in by building nvidia-settings and the new
nvidia-driver 190.43, which was required by the 2.6.32 kernel that I am forced
to use. Once you start upgrading _one_ package...

 I guess we could do a stable upgrade to fix that, but I consider it of
 low priority.
I just changed the second defintion of label into label2. That fixes it.
(I should probably build a new local package...)

But you are right: low priority, as I am probably the one in a million who has
this issue due to a newer kernel and a backported package.

Salut

Oliver

Bug#512915: closed by Ivan Borzenkov ivan1...@list.ru (Done: [libjs-yui] No source code)

2010-01-23 Thread Dmitry E. Oboukhov
 Hmm, and who actually need it :)

ARS That's a joke, isn't it? You have two choices: Fix this bug or your
ARS package _will_ be removed not only from the next release but completly
ARS from the archive.

Above messages contain links to source code of yui. Including
obfuscate src-s contradicts DFSG (== source is absent). I left
low level severity because theoretically we could rebuild sources
from obfuscate source, but we had no reaction from package's
maintainer and even the bug was closed by submitter.

According to the rules severity must be critical, so I reopened report.
If maintainer wants to have his package containing in testing,
he can add sources into package. I think it isn't so difficult.

Bug#564961: libmysql-java: Prepared Queries broken

2010-01-23 Thread Taisuke Yamada
Package: libmysql-java
Version: 5.1.10+dfsg-2
Tags: unreproducible
Severity: normal

I have picked up this bug during Debian BSP, but was unable to reduce
the problem.

Since original report did not contain code or data to reproduce the issue,
I will tag the issue as unreproducible, and lower its severity to normal (as
important and upper-level severities requires the package to be in completely
unusable state for majority of people).

Hi Bernd,

Thanks for the bug report. I've also noticed this issue on my systems. This is
 caused by the new diskstats plugin which used a larger default graph size in
order to solve length issue in the labels of the devices.

This issue has been fixed upstream and will be fixed in the debian package
when upstream will release 1.4.4.

Regards,
Tom Feiner.

Bug#566376: linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-amd64: X unconditionally hangs up on bootup

2010-01-23 Thread Alexander Myodov
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 2.6.32-5
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

None of the linux-image-2.6.32-trunk-amd64 packages, since they reached
unstable, ever booted successfully on my laptop. X system darkens the screen
and hangs the computer completely (i.e. cannot even switch to the console via
Ctrl-Alt-F1), as soon as the booting process reaches KDM; Alt-SysRq-B works
though.

Please tell me what logs should be included to debug this problem, I'll help as

Bug#566378: ITP: dehydra -- Scriptable static analysis tool for C++

2010-01-23 Thread Mike Hommey
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Mike Hommey gland...@debian.org

* Package name: dehydra
  Version : 0.9.hg20100123
  Upstream Author : Mozilla Corporation
* URL : https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Dehydra
* License : GPL2+
  Programming Lang: C, C++, JS, tiny bits of python
  Description : Scriptable static analysis tool for C++

Dehydra is a lightweight, scriptable, general purpose static analysis tool
capable of application-specific analyses of C++ code. In the simplest
sense, Dehydra can be thought of as a semantic grep tool. It presents a
wealth of semantic information that can be queried with concise
JavaScripts. It is also useful to find bugs in source code as it allows
for much more error checking than C++ is capable of by itself.

Dehydra is built as a GCC plugin, thus it is easy to use for projects that
already support GCC.

Dehydra is also useful for generating language bindings and is used to
bootstrap Treehydra, a heavy-duty static analysis GCC plugin.

(This description is just a copy/paste of
https://developer.mozilla.org/en/Dehydra)

Please note that treehydra is part of the dehydra build, so it will also
be packaged at the same time. As both require gcc 4.5 plugin support, it
will live in experimental.

Anyone interested in co-maintaining this tool is welcome.

Cheers,

Mike

Bug#566377: debmirror: Minor NEWS.Debian errors

2010-01-23 Thread Geoff Simmons
Package: debmirror
Version: 1:2.4
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

Hi,

I found a few errors within debmirror's NEWS.Debian file, the most
notable within a change listed for version 1:2.0:

  * Option --root=directory no longer requires / or : prefix

It is not possible to leave the default at debian and all
transfer methods should just work. For backwards compatibility
debmirror will remove a leading / or : if one is passed.

It is not possible should read It is now possible instead.

Three spelling errors were found in changes relating to older versions.
A patch is attached for all to be corrected.

Bug#563535: python-gst0.10: failure when importing, on kfreebsd

2010-01-23 Thread Luca Bruno
tag 563535 + patch
thanks

 Hi,
 current python gst bindings don't work on kfreebsd, as the module
 itself fail to import due to some messy symbols in shared object;

 ImportError: /usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/gst-0.10/gst/_gst.so: undefined
 symbol: libxml_xmlDocPtrWrap

Please apply the attached patch. It has already been tested on a
kfreebsd-i386 vm and seems to be working fine.

Ciao, Luca

You should not run this program normally. It is called by update-rc.d which is
already documentend as the interface for managinig boot services for sysv-rc.

 The long description of your package could need some formating

Indeed :
st...@localhost:~$ less /usr/lib/pymodules/python2.5/wicd/wpath.py |
grep version
version = '1.7.0'

So, it seems that the wrong module (an older version maybe) is
imported, my python setup may be wrong or something. I didn't mess
with it in the past though.

Bug#566388: qemu-kvm: Early Kernel Panic trying to mount NFS-Root

2010-01-23 Thread Michael Goetze

Package: qemu-kvm
Version: 0.11.1+dfsg-1
Severity: important

I'm trying to install virtual machines with FAI, and for this purpose
have installed a full FAI infrastructure (using dnsmasq) on my host
system, listening on br0. Currently I'm booting 2.6.31-grml64, but I
have tried this with standard Lenny kernels as well, both 32- and 64-bit.

I create the virtual machine with:

virt-install -n test -r 256 --vcpus=1 --os-variant=debianlenny --pxe
--disk path=/dev/vg2/test_root --disk path=/dev/vg2/test_swap -w
bridge=br0,mac=52:54:00:25:00:00,model=virtio --vnc

The PXE boot works after a few tries (the boot ROM always claims to not
get an answer the first few times) and then the kernel boots. Once the
initrd proclaims Begin: Mounting root filesystem ... I get the
following kernel messages:

NET: Registered protocol family 17
Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempted to kill init!
Pid: 1, comm: init Not tainted 2.6.31-grml63 #1

I have quite a bit of experience with FAI and I have never seen this
problem on real hardware. On my host system I am running squeeze with
2.6.32-trunk-amd64 and a triple core AMD Phenom 8650.

In Lenny I was able to get FAI working on KVM using VDE, however, that
doesn't play nicely with libvirt so I would really like to get it
working like this.

If you need any further information or e.g. my complete FAI
configuruation, nfsroot, kernel or initrd, please do not hesitate to
contact me.

Michael

I find this request of yours unsubstantiated.

The RC bug has a patch pending and is pretty easy to fix. I might
eventually NMU it to fix that, even though I'm not willing to maintain
the package right now. Beside that bug, the package works quite well,
has a respectable number of popcon user (as you observe); I, for
instance, am a daily user of it.

So, exactly *why* you want this package to be removed, considering that
there are way more bad packages in the archive (and almost completely
unused) that would deserve removal first?

Cheers.

Bug#542269: #542269 -- newlib-mingw32 and mingw32-runtime: error when trying to install together

I thought it was fairly self evident that newlib-mingw32 was overwriting
files from the toolchain. Since I don't know anyone who is using that,
why or where you'd want to use it, or even really why it belongs in the
distro for that matter -- I haven't really had a lot to add.

I've figured that if somebody cared about newlib-mingw32, we'd hear more
about this from them soon enough. And if they didn't, it would eventually
get removed.

I can't think of anything useful this package is going to be able to do
to fix it though, so in theory you could -done it here if you really
wanted to. But it does remind me this problem is still present ...

Bug#566023: Info received (Bug#566203: wicd 1.7 fails to start)

2010-01-23 Thread David Paleino

On Saturday 23 January 2010 11:54:57, Benjamin MAISONNAS wrote:

 I tried to check exactly which module is imported by python, see :

 module 'wicd.wpath' from
  '/usr/lib/python2.5/site-packages/wicd/wpath.pyc'

Oh, here's the culprit.

$ LANG=C ls -d /usr/*/python*.*/*-packages/wicd*

 So, it seems that the wrong module (an older version maybe) is
 imported, my python setup may be wrong or something. I didn't mess
 with it in the past though.

I suspect this has something to do with python-support.
What version do you have?
What happens if you purge python-wicd, and then reinstall it?

Also, see:

$ dpkg -c ../../build-area/wicd_1.6.2.2-4_all.deb |grep python
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2010-01-23 11:28 ./usr/share/python-support/
-rw-r--r-- root/root   879 2010-01-23 11:28 ./usr/share/python-
support/wicd.private
$

i.e. there's no pythonX.Y/*-packages in the 1.6.2.2-4 package, thus I don't
think it's some old file staying around.

Kindly,
David

Bug#566392: texlive-luatex: formating suggestions for long description

2010-01-23 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Source: texlive-luatex
Version: 2009-7
Severity: minor

Hi!

 The long description of your package could need some formating
improvements - and I hope you don't get too annoyed about this bugs, but
it's different packages and different issues ;)

 The first paragraph isn't really a proper sentence, it would be better
to improve that.

 The formating is really strange, there is double space in the first
line, the second line even starts with more space. Please be notified
that two or more spaces at the beginning of a line is seen as
preformated text and thus gets interpreted differently by package
description renderers like the one in aptitude or for the website at
packages.debian.org.

 Also, the Homepage is missing is trailing /, please add it.

 So long, and thanks for effort for Debian nevertheless!

Bug#566393: python-jswebkit: long description no sentence

2010-01-23 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
Package: python-jswebkit
Version: 0.0.1-1
Severity: minor

Hi!

 It would be nice if the long description of your packages could consist
of full sentences[1], preferably more than just one. Currently it looks
a bit like a second short description, which isn't the intention of the
long description. :)

 So long, and thanks for your efforts for Debian nevertheless!

I guess it's debateable if it should be in a global crontab. However
it's indeed utterly useless to try to start an unconfigured buildd.
(Which it obviously doesn't seem to notice.)

 Also, I do not want to run buildd-watcher, it's totaly useless

That's your mileage that varies here, though.

As that's a bug in a (build-)dependency it's not the leaf who's at fault.
So I somehow think it's not entirely insane to auto-give-back on this

one would want to make this configurable?

The buildd is always run by the people on the handy architecture alias,
arch@buildd.debian.org, I'm Cc:ing them - currently aba and zobel.
I'm the local admin and if they're busy I can give it a shot, but you'd
have to help me out regarding the proper procedure in the chroots

2010-01-23 Thread Thorsten Glaser

At least the bts and nmudiff tools’ manpages do not seem to contain

be most useful on systems that do not have the ability to send mails,

It should not be assumed the user is familiar with mutt, either.

 After the recent upgrade of the buildds, sbuild's gid
 got changed from 1000 to 106 or something simular.

 However, all the chroots still use gid 1000, so nothing
 can be build anymore.

The postinst of sbuild does switch the sbuild group from
a user group to a system group. This was done in 0.59.3
in May 2009.

We take care to chown all files on the host owned by
group sbuild. Inside /var/lib/sbuild in the chroot,
this is taken care of at runtime by
Sbuild::ChrootSetup::basesetup which is called when
setting up a chroot in Sbuild::Chroot::_setup_options.

On non-buildd hosts, such as all sbuild users using
testing or unstable, this group migration went
smoothly with no reported breakage.

Could you let me know exactly which files and/or
directories are retaining the old group, and are
causing breakage as a consequence?

Thanks,
Roger

Bug#458091: not fixed in 1.2.15-1

 to src/subscriberfuncs.c has been applied, but not the (identical)

Right -- the fix for getaddrsfromfd() has not been applied in 1.2.15.

 Upstream version 1.2.17-RC1 has changed the code in the latter as well,
 but for some reason it returns 0 in case the size is 0 instead of -1 as
 for all other error conditions and as the case is handled in the former
 file. This might be a bug upstream?

There are two places in which this function is used (once in send_mail_
many_fd() and main() in src/mlmmj-send.c). In both places, the caller
checks for the return value being greater than (not equal to) zero. So,
(in 1.2.15 and 1.2.17RC2) returning 0 is semantically equivalent to
returning -1. Anyway, I'm gonna talk to upstream whether this is really
the way it's intended.

Cheers,
Sebastian

Bug#558126: epiphany-browser - password form saving is inoperable

2010-01-23 Thread intrigeri
found 558126 2.29.5-3
thanks

Hi,

Gustavo Noronha Silva wrote (05 Jan 2010 12:32:13 GMT) :
 Form passwords have been fixed during the webkit hackfest, and will
 be in 2.29.4

With 2.29.5-3, after entering a password in a web form, I am asked
whether I want it to be saved, great. But such a saved password is not
automatically filled next time I visit the same form.

Moreover, just clicking on a form input field (password or not) very
often crashes Epiphany.

Bug#536502: [PATCH] Implement runtime loading of RSA public keys

2010-01-23 Thread Paul Fertser
This patch allows crda to load and use additional keys from a
pre-configured location for the database signature verification. This
provides a convenient way for distro maintainers and card manufacturers to
supply a custom regulatory database along with their public keys, without
the need to recompile crda.

Implemented for USE_OPENSSL=1 case only because libgcrypt lacks PEM parser.

Default location for public keys in PEM format is
/etc/wireless-regdb/pubkeys and can be changed by specifying
RUNTIME_PUBKEY_DIR at the make command line.

Bug#566399: libnss-extrausers: breaks if ordinary users have users (GID 100) as their primary group

2010-01-23 Thread Sascha Silbe
Package: libnss-extrausers
Version: 0.2-3
Severity: normal

libnss-extrausers tries to prevent accidental overwriting of system users
by checking whether uid or gid are below 500. Not only is there a mismatch with
both Debian policy (reserving 0-999+6-64999+65534 for system accounts), but
also with local system policy (as set in /etc/adduser.conf). This breaks in the
quite common (though not default) case of USERGROUPS=no, USERS_GID=100 (i.e.
primary group of all regular users is users = GID 100), making the package
useless.

Please
a) remove the GID check for passwd entries or at least special-case GID 100 and
b) add a way to disable these checks altogether (config file, second library,
... I don't care).

Bug#566401: Does not install firmware.agent into initramfs

2010-01-23 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: udev
Version: 150-2
Severity: normal

Hi,

/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/udev installs 80-drivers.rules into the
initramfs which references firmware.agent:

80-drivers.rules:SUBSYSTEM==firmware,RUN+=firmware.agent

But firmware.agent is not installed by default. I assume the udev hook
should be updated to do so.

Cheers,
Michael

Bug#561289: kernel-package: initramfs-tools not called after install, though run-parts tries to

2010-01-23 Thread Eduard Bloch
severity 561289 grave
thanks

Okay, today this weird code in /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools
has hit me again. However I sent questions about this few weeks ago and
nobody replied.

 Now, this is partially user error -- they are sing the script
  that came with initramfs-tools, which does not work, instead of the
  working script provided by kernel-package itself.

Which script are you talking about? Which user error?

I (the user) am not aware of any hacks applied by me which would cause
this silent fatal breakdown. This is what happens! Unbootable system or
landing in a weird state where udev does not work for no evident reason,
the only thing indicating the originating problem was udev's postinst.

And what I see is /etc/kernel/postinst.d/initramfs-tools which is
delivered by initramfs-tools, which breaks my systems, which has no
proper documentation inside about why it breaks my systems, and where
the maintainers did not respond to my mail asking about this thing
send WEEKS ago.

Now please explain what is going on and fix it. Until that happens, the
thing is worth having a grave severity, sorry.

Eduard.

 Sbuild::ChrootSetup::basesetup which is called when
 setting up a chroot in Sbuild::Chroot::_setup_options.

 On non-buildd hosts, such as all sbuild users using
 testing or unstable, this group migration went
 smoothly with no reported breakage.

 Could you let me know exactly which files and/or
 directories are retaining the old group, and are
 causing breakage as a consequence?

Atleast everything in /build and /var/lib/sbuild

Bug#561997: bind9: intermittent hang of ‘named’ during heavy traffic

2010-01-23 Thread Ben Finney
On 22-Dec-2009, Ben Finney wrote:

 I have been trying to narrow down what might be a proximate cause
 for the bug; but so far all I know is that it is more likely to
 occur when there is a lot of network traffic. There are no log
 unusual log messages from the server when the process runs into
 trouble.

 What can I do to further diagnose this failure on this machine?

This continues to happen frequently with the ‘bind9’ package version
1:9.6.1.dfsg.P2-1.

I have downgraded to Lenny's current ‘bind9’, version
1:9.5.1.dfsg.P3-1+lenny1, and the problem has not recurred for the
past 24 hours.

At this point I am confident the bug is in Squeeze's version and not
in Lenny's version. What diagnosis can be done?

Still many stuff in /usr/lib/openoffice/[basis3.2/]share left, though.

 I'm the local admin and if they're busy I can give it a shot, but you'd

I think that just trying to build it in a fresh sid pbuilder chroot on

Bug#566400: smbldap-tools: sambaDomain not read from smb.conf

2010-01-23 Thread Luca Capello
Package: smbldap-tools

Severity: important

Hi there!

/usr/share/doc/smbldap-tools/examples/smbldap.conf.gz contains:

# Domain name the Samba server is in charged.
# If not defined, parameter is taking from smb.conf configuration file
# Ex: sambaDomain=IDEALX-NT

--8---cut here---end---8---

Nevertheless, it seems sambaDomain must be defined in smbldap.conf:

Please provide a password for the domain root:

The error is even more clear on squeeze (0.9.5-1):

 I guess it's debateable if it should be in a global crontab. However
 it's indeed utterly useless to try to start an unconfigured buildd.
 (Which it obviously doesn't seem to notice.)

Currently, we terminate if there are no distributions configured.

Is this what's getting mailed?

How would you prefer that we detect whether the daemon has been
configured?

  Also, I do not want to run buildd-watcher, it's totaly useless
  and annoying.

 That's your mileage that varies here, though.

We can add a configuration to not automatically run the
watcher if not all buildd admins want it. OTOH, consistency
between buildds is something IMO we should be aiming for.

Bug#415248: Purging cyrus-common after upgrading to cyrus-common-2.2 wipes /var/spool/cyrus and /var/lib/cyrus

2010-01-23 Thread Christoph Berg
severity 415248 important

Re: Jan Wagner 2007-03-17 200703171427.02076.w...@cyconet.org
 Package: cyrus-common-2.2
 Package: cyrus-common
 Version:
 Severity: grave

Hi,

Due to the missing version number, the BTS seems to have ignored the
severity. That's probably why your bug didn't hit the release radar.

 After upgrading to etch and my cyrus installation to cyrus-*-2.2, I did have
 a
 removed but not purged cyrus-common in my installation.
 Maybe it was a silly idea anyways, but I did purge cyrus-common via dpkg,
 since it was removed anyways, I thought, purging can't be wrong.
 This leads into a unuseable cyrus-*-2.2, since it
 wiped /var/spool/cyrus, /var/lib/cyrus and maybe some other stuff.

Oops.

cyrus-common is long gone, so we can't fix bugs there, but we should
make sure, we don't wipe people's mail when upgrading from 2.2 to 2.3.

cyrus-common-2.2's postrm reads in the purge section:

for i in /var/lib/cyrus /var/spool/sieve \
 /var/spool/cyrus \
 /var/run/cyrus /var/run/cyrus/socket ; do
dpkg-statoverride --remove $i || true
done
rm -rf /var/run/cyrus || true
rm  /usr/lib/cyrus/cyrus-db-types.active || true
rm usr/lib/cyrus/cyrus-hardwired-config.active || true

# Should we remove our precious data?
if [ $DEBCONFEXISTS = true ]; then
db_title Cyrus IMAPd 2.2 || true
db_fset cyrus-common-2.2/removespools seen
false || true
db_input high cyrus-common-2.2/removespools ||
true
db_go || true

db_get cyrus-common-2.2/removespools
else
RET=false
fi
[ ${RET} = true ]  {
for i in /var/spool/cyrus /var/lib/cyrus \
 /var/spool/sieve /etc/sieve ; do
find $i -type f -exec rm -f '{}' \;
|| true
find $i -type d -depth -not -name
'lost+found' -exec rmdir '{}' \; || true
done
# Remove database type information
rm -f /usr/lib/cyrus/cyrus-*.active
}

It actually asks about purging files (and defaults to false), so we
are not affected, but it does wipe the statoverride settings. We
probably need some clever things in squeeze for cyrus-common-2.2's
maintainer scripts to be able to migrate the settings to
cyrus-common-2.3.
