Bug#586772: [Pkg-xen-devel] Bug#586772: Bug#586772: xen-utils-4.0: No block tap backends available

The decision was made to disable the blktap v1 kernel module (the default is now blktap2). As a result we can't use any tap devices which means worse performance than previousl. Since blktap1 was available in lenny this could be looked on as a regression. Please consider either adding blktap2 or reinstating the blktap1 kernel module. I thought there was no real licensing issue. I recall some patches on xen-devel about that. If you agree on the fix, would it be possible to upload it to s-p-u? I got now some feedback from the users at our site and the backported patch seems to be ok. I have raised again the severity to 'important' because even if pdfcrop is only one of the extra-utils, it is unusable due the ghostscript bug (if you do not agree on the severity, please downgrade, will then not change it again). Bug#600908: Improvement to clamav-milter init script
Package: clamav-milter Version: 0.96.3+dfsg-2~volatile1 We have recently experienced the case that clamav-milter was 'running' but the socket file was missing. This caused our mail system (postfix) to reject mail with a temporary error. Monitoring the service by checking the return code from '/etc/init.d/clamav-milter status' did not catch this situation. I have updated the 'status' check to include a check for the sockets existence and an alternate error code (LSB correct, I believe). See attached patch. The patch also fixes the call to 'status_of_proc' with the variable $BASENAME in place of $NAME (which does not exist). It also moves the 'local' copy of the function 'status_of_proc' below the sourcing of '/lib/lsb/init-functions' so that this version of the function gets called. Before, this local copy of the function was just unused code in the init script. This local copy of the LSB function now checks the existence of the clamav-milter socket as defined in '$SOCKET_PATH'. Bug#586540: kdm on initial start at kfreebsd bootup does not allow keyboard input
This bug is a real hurdle for KDE on kfreebsd-* as it enforces a manual X restart by the user at every reboot. (Rising the kdmrc ServerTimeout as mentioned in various places doesn't help either). kFreeBSD porters: could you please take a look at that ? When the start of kdm is not during boot, it works fine. The problem is order of start during boot. The /etc/inittab line l2:2:wait:/etc/init.d/rc 2 is performed before 2:23:respawn:/sbin/getty 38400 ttyv1 cons25 therefore during kdm/X start, the vt2 (ttyv1, ALT+F2) is still free. When started after boot, the vt2 is occupied and vt7 (ttyv6, ALT+F7) is allocated correctly. The easiest solution for now is to alter ServerArgsLocal at least on GNU/kFreeBSD in /etc/kde4/kdm/kdmrc to ServerArgsLocal=vt7 -br -nolisten tcp Xdm uses on both GNU/Linux and GNU/kFreeBSD in /etc/X11/xdm/Xservers :0 local /usr/bin/X :0 vt7 -nolisten tcp Petr -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#577747: linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64 - same bug, different HW
Hi, I'm experiencing the same problem. My kernel is linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64, fresh squeezy/testing installation. I just installed a new home server (Core2Duo, 3 ethernets, wireless, 2x SATA in RAID1) I needed to copy some backup data to the server, but once I plugged my laptop directly into the gigabit port and started copying (rsync+ssh), SSH died with message: Corrupted MAC on input. Disconnecting: Packet corrupt This was a direct cable between my laptop and server - eth2 - both gigabit ethernets. Googling suggested that my hardware is faulty, so because I also have those data on the internet, I fired scp in the background and went to work. I logged back to the server and it died again! Same message! This time it was a different ethernet port, and different remote server. r...@gw:~# ls -l /sys/class/net/*/device/driver lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Oct 21 11:35 /sys/class/net/eth0/device/driver - ../../../../bus/pci/drivers/e100 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Oct 21 11:35 /sys/class/net/eth1/device/driver - ../../../../bus/pci/drivers/3c59x lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Oct 21 11:35 /sys/class/net/eth2/device/driver - ../../../bus/pci/drivers/e1000e lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Oct 21 11:35 /sys/class/net/mon.wlan0/device/driver - ../../../../bus/pci/drivers/ath9k lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Oct 21 11:35 /sys/class/net/wlan0/device/driver - ../../../../bus/pci/drivers/ath9k r...@gw:~# grep . /sys/class/net/*/features /sys/class/net/eth0/features:0x0 /sys/class/net/eth1/features:0x803 /sys/class/net/eth2/features:0x1109a9 /sys/class/net/lo/features:0x13865 /sys/class/net/mon.wlan0/features:0x2000 /sys/class/net/wlan0/features:0x2000 For the record, my laptop has atl1c gigabit ethernet card, the internet server is a xen domU on unknown hardware, but there never was a problem with either. So, is it hardware? I guess memory could be faulty, but that would manifest itself sooner and also on other places I guess. I believe there is a problem either in those drivers (sharing something?), or in some algorithm. I switched SSH MACs from hmac-md5,hmac-sha1,umac...@openssh.com,hmac-ripemd160 to hmac-ripemd160 and that doesn't work either. B0rked openssl? B0rked openssh? It happens more often on large (4GB) files, but also saw it on a bunch of 1KB files now, restarting makes it going again... I'm obviously going to run a memtest once I get home, but for now I believe this is a software fault. It is available under the GNU GPL and currently runs on Linux. . Features: * MIDI routing and filtering Filter events depending on their event type, channel, note number, velocity, etc., and freely route them between an arbitrary number of input and output ports. * Modifying and converting MIDI events Transpose notes, apply velocity curves, change controller values and ranges, or convert events to any other MIDI event type. mididings also includes more complex functions like a diatonic harmonizer, floating split points, latched notes, and more. * Seamless switching between patches Set up different scenes, each with its own MIDI routing and processing, and switch between them at any time, even while playing. Switching scenes does not affect notes already held, and does not result in dropouts or stuck notes! * MIDI event monitoring, running external commands Print MIDI event data to the console to help debugging your patches and configuring your MIDI controllers. Bug#600915: support multiple debsrc tarballs
Package: pristine-tar Severity: wishlist Hi, I've no idea if that's actually doable in a generic and sane way, but it would be great if pristine-tar would have a way to deal with multiple orig tarballs (which newer debsrc format allows), so that all the delta files would be in one commit and against their respective directory, e.g.: if the tarballs of a debian source package would consist of: foo_1.2.3.orig.tar.gz foo_1.2.3.orig-bar.tar.gz foo_1.2.3.orig-baz.tar.gz the diff for foo_1.2.3.orig.tar.gz would need to be done against the root of the repository directory as usual, but with excluding bar/ and baz/. the diff for foo_1.2.3.orig-bar.tar.gz would be done only against the bar directory only, foo_1.2.3.orig-baz.tar.gz only against baz/ etc. ...and ideally, this alltogether in one single pristine-tar commit :) -- Address:Daniel Baumann, Burgunderstrasse 3, CH-4562 Biberist Email: daniel.baum...@panthera-systems.net Internet: http://people.panthera-systems.net/~daniel-baumann/ -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#600921: libppl7: libppl should be configured with --enable-interfaces=c
Package: libppl7 Version: 0.10.2-8 Severity: important Hello All, I am the main other of GCC MELT, see http://gcc-melt.org/ or http://gcc.gnu.org/wiki/MELT Briefly: GCC MELT is a Lispy domain specific language to code GCC extensions in. MELT is a GCC branch and a GCC plugin. By the way, I am working on making very soon the first upstream release of MELT, which should build as a plugin to unmodified GCC 4.5, and Sylvestre Ledru offered me to try packaging it in experimental. Bug#600890: xul-ext-sync: firefox sync is not functional as it is too old
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi Norbert, Norbert Preining, 2010-10-21 12:51: Is there a technical reason for not upgrading the addon, or only compatibility? The reason is not really technical, it's a long term problem with upstream changing the storage API version. I've already prepared a 1.5-1 package but by uploading it I can only fix the current mismatch in the version numbers. If Mozilla upstream decides to increase the version number tomorrow, I'll be force to do another update of the package. This IMHO (IANADDY) contradicts the purpose of a stable release. I'll contact debian-volatile and debian-release about this issue. So far I can only give this advise: Don't upgrade to 1.5 on other installations to keep compatibility. Sorry ... It seems that without the ability to sync against current status the functionality of this package is severly broken. I think this depends on your POV, as I'm using it to sync several Debian installations it's not really broken regarding it's status within Debian ... but that's just POV :-) Regards, - -- Michael Fladischer -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.10 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAkzAOBwACgkQeJ3z1zFMUGagZgCfdFMWEnkdQA3RzY9g2voiAvtj LmcAnA/ZJ9ZqkNgBVB1Al+5u/Zwfy5mf =O1r3 -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Jeremy Nickurak jer...@nickurak.ca (28/03/2010): Upstream bug should probably be http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1786 , since xorg states their bug is dependant on it getting fixed in the kernel. Bug#599448: Brazilian Portuguese translation for Imagination.
2010/10/5 Sergio Cipolla secipo...@gmail.com: Hello, Andrew. Please consider this message carefully. I revised the pt_BR translation for imagination and it has been quite improved. Many mistakes have been fixed. I sent this translation some months ago to Giuseppe and pointed to him that the code had an error that made the toolbar Rotate buttons show inverted tooltips (counter-clockwise for the clockwise and vice-versa - you can check that in English). He then encouraged me to translate the svn version and I did it. The svn version includes localized documentation and I translated it as well. Yesterday I was checking the svn version and I saw that the files I had sent to him hadn't been included so I emailed him. He explained that the development has stopped (I knew that from earlier conversations with him but thought it could have been resumed), apologised for not including the updates and said he would do so (kind of just in case someone resumes/forks the development). He said also that the other developer doesn't answer his emails... Today I installled imagination in a Debian Sid of mine and was struck by the errors in the localization, but of course...it couldn't be different since the revised translation hadn't been included in the source code. Considering this picture, I'm sending you the revised translation and I urge you to please include it since, who knows, but this may be the last stable version (hope not). Also, if you have something against including translations that don't come from the official Debian translation team please tell me instead of just ignoring it. I'm not assuming that of you're like that but I've encountered many not so sensible people in this environment. If I'm taking the trouble to write you this message, it's because I like imagination and I've done a good work revising its pt_BR localization (I've gone through my past emails to Giuseppe and double-checked all the changes again). Now an extra important point. There's an error with the code in imagination-2.1/src/main-window.c Line 510 reads: gtk_widget_set_tooltip_text(rotate_left_button, _(Rotate the slide clockwise)); and should read: gtk_widget_set_tooltip_text(rotate_left_button, _(Rotate the slide counter-clockwise)); Line 520 reads: gtk_widget_set_tooltip_text(rotate_right_button, _(Rotate the slide counter-clockwise)); and should read: gtk_widget_set_tooltip_text(rotate_right_button, _(Rotate the slide clockwise)); The above error makes the tooltips over the rotate buttons on the toobar show inverted. I could send you a fixed pt_BR.po (with the translations also inverted) but that would make it only show correctly in pt_BR, keeping the error in all the rest (English included). If you're going to upload a new release then you could fix that code and it would be fixed for all languages. So I'm sending a regular pt_BR.po, that is, one that unless the code is fixed, will show inverted (wrong) tooltips like all the other locales. Please tell me what are you intending to do. Warm regards, Sérgio. Hi Sérgio, Sorry for taking so long to get back to you. Thank you so much for your effort! I received the bug reports against the Debian package, but unfortunately Debian is currently in freeze in preparation for the next release. Once the freeze is lifted, I will upload fixes for both of the bugs. Also, it looks like upstream has indeed committed your translation work into their svn repository, but who knows when they will make their next release. Bug#599408: apt-cacher-ng: Please add support to archive.debian.org in the default config
On 21/10/10 13:29, Eduard Bloch wrote: #includehallo.h * Javier Barroso [Thu, Oct 21 2010, 01:17:47PM]: Sorry Eduard, I dropped 599...@bugs.debian.org from my replies :(, so no log is in bugs.debian.org/599408 Doesn't matter, the config looked ok. Cc: restored. Later today I hope create a test environment to confirm this bug (or this not-a-bug) Yesterday, I tried to reproduce your problem. Created an Etch chroot with pbuilder (which uses my local apt-cacher-ng as proxy) and specifying http://archive.debian.org/debian -- and it works just fine! Tried some more things with apt in that chroot and encountered no problems whatsoever. I should mention that I am talking about the current version. The one in Lenny is stone age, and won't be fixed even if there is a minor bug. If you need an update, see here: http://www.unix-ag.uni-kl.de/~bloch/acng/download/backports/ This is a straight backport from the latest Debian version, to Lenny. You might need a recent liblzma package from bpo, see http://backports.debian.org/Instructions/ for details. Ok, thank you I downloaded your package from backports, compile it in itanium arch and it is working I'm happing with clean cron task (From 47G used to 15 G) Would be a good idea having apt-cacher-ng directly from backports.debian.org :-). Thank you very much again ! PD: I'll try later about installing lenny to tag this bug like wontfix or closing it because could be invalid: First time I add archive.debian.org sarge-backports to a sarge box, and running aptitude update: W: Cant read source list package http://archive.debian.org sarge-backports/main Packages (/var/lib/apt/lists/archive.debian.org_debian-backports_dists_sarge-backports_main_binary-i386_Packages) - stat (2 file or directory doesn't exists) Second time, aptitude doesn't warning about nothing, so maybe I didn't update the second time when I report this bug. I will reply later. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
Bug#513598: xserver-xorg-input-evdev: evdev from experimental ignores ButtonMapping option
Hi, setvac...@yahoo.com setvac...@yahoo.com (31/01/2009): I also tried adding InputDevice section in xorg.conf and removing the HAL FDI file. However, X log did not say anything about recognizing ButtonMapping option, and looks like it still retrieve input device information from HAL. Thank you for your interest in my problem! I guess we'd like to know what happens with the current udev-based installation, HAL being only kept on *BSD because there's no udev there. FWIW, a new version for XServer 1.7 (what we have currently in unstable) is available on http://autobuild.ikibiki.org/ if you want to give a shot to the last upstream version. Bug#520718: xserver-xorg: No keyboard after resuming from suspend
Hi Sam, Sam Morris s...@robots.org.uk (22/03/2009): After resuming from suspend, my keyboard didn't work. I had to reset the machine to get it working again. can you please report what happens with current squeeze/sid? If the issue persists, you may want to try 2.5.0 built against squeeze/sid, available on http://autobuild.ikibiki.org/ Running the bug script and attaching its output would be nice, so that we get all possible info on an up-to-date system. Bug#599644: Upstream response
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 At install time, SSSD attempts the following in order to determine the location to install the memberof.so: 1) If --with-ldb-lib-dir is specified to configure, it will use that path 2) `pkg-config --variable=modulesdir ldb` 3) Fall back to $(libdir)/ldb The real bug here appears to be that the libldb-dev package on Debian is not installing a proper pkgconfig file for ldb. Libldb is compiled to expect plugins in /usr/modules/ldb. However either no pkgconfig file is available, or it is missing the modulesdir variable to tell SSSD's build-system where the modules belong. A bug should be opened with libldb's packaging. The workaround is to build SSSD with the following additional flag to the configure script: - --with-ldb-lib-dir=/usr/modules/ldb - -- Stephen Gallagher RHCE 804006346421761 Delivering value year after year. Bug#600915: support multiple debsrc tarballs
Daniel Baumann wrote: I've no idea if that's actually doable in a generic and sane way, but it would be great if pristine-tar would have a way to deal with multiple orig tarballs (which newer debsrc format allows), so that all the delta files would be in one commit and against their respective directory, e.g.: if the tarballs of a debian source package would consist of: foo_1.2.3.orig.tar.gz foo_1.2.3.orig-bar.tar.gz foo_1.2.3.orig-baz.tar.gz the diff for foo_1.2.3.orig.tar.gz would need to be done against the root of the repository directory as usual, but with excluding bar/ and baz/. the diff for foo_1.2.3.orig-bar.tar.gz would be done only against the bar directory only, foo_1.2.3.orig-baz.tar.gz only against baz/ etc. ...and ideally, this alltogether in one single pristine-tar commit :) pristine-tar does not know about source package formats. This could be done at the git-buildpackage layer. It does not matter if the tree pristine-tar is pointed at contains extra files or directories. It does need to have files with the same names as the ones in the tarball (not in a subdir). I suppose an option could be added to specify a subdir for it to change to. Not sure I see the point of having pristine-tar make it all in one commit. It's not as if the history of the pristine-tar branch is something that is often, or ever, relevant. -- see shy jo signature.asc Description: Digital signature
