On Wed, 2 Feb 2011, Thomas Dickey wrote: On Sat, 29 Jan 2011, Jeffrey Sheinberg wrote: This is a bug in xterm Version: 261-1 as I originally reported, please see my above comments. I can reproduce this difference without the utempter library (though it's possible that the problem is related to ifdef's for it). I'll look for a solution and close out #268 soon (have been busy setting up new development machines). hmm - my quick check without was also without setgid, so there was no utmp entry. Reading the source for login, I see that the error message comes from a check (a) not running as root and (b) no valid utmp entry found. Given that, the likely explanation is that login is dropping the setuid itself. I don't see that in the unpatched source, but see comments in the Debian patch which indicate that's intended behavior. Looks like a possible workaround would be to use sudo or other wrapper that holds the setuid behavior. -- Thomas E. Bug#551359: Processed: maraDNS and openvpn
Hi Nicholas, Please do so. There's not much to discuss. Services start following an order that fits most of the users. But not all. In those cases, humans are required to make changes to the system in order to suit their needs. It seems that maraDNS needs to start after Openvpn if it wishes to use the TUN/TAP interface. Then the system administrator should ajust his system to make this happen. No more, no less. It's not a bug in OpenVPN that maraDNS behaves this way (bind starts using a new network interface when it pops up). But that's just a feature. So either this bug should be a wishlist, or not at all. And in any case, it's not openvpn's bug. IMHO the best solution was already given by Ansgar Burchardt. Bug#611326: Further information
I have now discovered that when the panel gets into this spin, it can be stopped by opening the panel properties and changing it from 'Normal height' to 'Full height'. This causes the vertical panel to expand to fit the height of the screen. The juddering stops, and the CPU usage of the panel process drops to what I presume is normal: 1.5% - 2%. (I find it a little odd that the process is not more idle.) I have to say I am seriously considering ditching XFCE because of this problem. I reported the bug 6 days ago, and there has been no acknowledgement or response other than automated replies from your system. There is no indication of the status of this bug within your system. The bug has not found its way through to XFCE's bug tracking system. Okay, that explains how I could attach GDB to a running X, like I need it, cause the bugs happens only in conjunction with KDM reusing the X server when logging out instead of - if the workaround option is not given - restarting it. Now its just a question of allocating time for doing it. Bug#611894: varnishstat doesn't obey flow control (?!?)
Package: varnish Version: 2.1.3-7~bpo50+1 Severity: normal Hi, when I run 'varnishstat', I cannot freeze the output by pressing Ctrl-S. I can do it eg. in 'top' without any problems, but in varnishstat, this just has no effect. This is in the same xterm session on the same machine. Bug#609839: unblock: sudo/1.7.4p4-6
Being a newbie, I think I posted my original report to the wrong place, so here's a link to it: http://lists.debian.org/debian-release/2011/01/msg00746.html Summary: the current sudo has (what I view as) a serious regression which will break stuff, at least possibly any instance of sudo (X11 program) with default configuration. I'm also pretty sure that it's too late, but still worth a try. Regards Andrea Azzini signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#611896: debuild: would be nice to have -aarch in rules mode
Package: devscripts Version: 2.10.69 Severity: wishlist Hey I was a debclean user, but just realized that debuild clean would be good enough most of the time. debclean[1] and debuild clean wont take the -a flag, which is basically needed for dpkg-architecture by debuild when calling dpkg-buildpackage or by dpkg-buildpackage itself. It would be nice if debuild clean would take a -a argument setting the dpkg-architecture vars (as it does when calling dpkg-buildpackage). For now, I'll be using: debuild -aarch -Tclean, which is pretty close. Thanks! Bug#611897: cryptsetup: tries should default to 0, at least for devices required to boot
Package: cryptsetup Version: 2:1.2.0-1 Severity: wishlist Hi. It seems tries functionallity is back in the most recent version, having a default of 3. This should be changed to 0 IMHO, at least for those devices that are required to boot (root and resume filesystems), as it makes no sense for them to just stop trying after some failures. Package: adduser Version: 3.110 Severity: normal The description paragraph of the manpage says: They are friendlier front ends to the low level tools like useradd, groupadd and usermod programs, by default choosing Debian policy conformant UID and GID values, creating a home directory with skeletal configuration, running a custom script, and other features. As far as I can tell (I looked around the code a little) adduser does not provide the mentioned possibility to run custom scripts. Package: python2.5 Version: 2.5.5-11 Severity: critical Justification: breaks the whole system Have just started upgrading this xen server (dom0) from Lenny to Squeeze. = xm has broken - no domU can be brought up from the command line The problem appears to be that xen-utils depends on python2.5, but python2.5 no longer provides the md5 module. Bug#611519: aria2: only uses first dns server in /etc/resolv.conf, if the one fails then aria2c cannot resolve domain names
Hi, I tried to reproduce the issue but I could not so far. What I did is: I added unreachable DNS server address to my /etc/resolv.conf, before 2 entries of working DNS servers. Then I ran aria2c with 2 configurations: --async-dns=true and --async-dns=false. In both cases, aria2c first tried false DNS server, so there is some delay, but it eventually used working one and download success. Tested with 1.10.0, 1.10.9 and master branch. Bug#607177: mountnfs: nolock test for portmap seems not to be enough
I would like to confirm this bug. The optimization near the 53rd line of /etc/network/if-up.d/mountnfs seams to cause problems. 70-second delay here as well. Two messages during boot stating: rpcbind: server localhost not responding, timed out Adding start_nfs=yes at line 55 seams to help. But then the whole block checking for nolock option is obsolete. ii sysvinit2.88dsf-13.1 ii nfs-common 1:1.2.2-4 -- Marcin Szewczyk http://wodny.org mailto:marcin.szewc...@wodny.borg - remove b / usuń b xmpp:wo...@ubuntu.pl xmpp:wo...@jabster.pl -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#435375: About some issues in php_rrdtool.tar.gz
Hi Joe and Jeffrey, My name Is Dario Minnucci [0], and I intend to package php5-rrdtool [1] to be part of the official Debian distribution and I'm contacting you as your email addresses are listed on some files. I've downloaded sources [2] and successfully built a debian package (php5-rrdtool), but I faced a few issues preventing me to upload the result to the official Debian repository. I'll be glad if you can answer to any of these: * Via phpinfo() I've got the module version 1.2.x, is there any other repository apart from [2], I can use to track versions? * Is there any update for the version I'm working with (1.2.x)? * The .tar.gz file contains the following files with a reference to the Copyright holder but no information about the license: config.m4 php_rrdtool.h rrdtool.c rrdtool_logo.h /* * * php_rrdtool.c * * PHP interface to RRD Tool.
