Bug#386525: Update or Fix?

2011-08-30 Thread Ola Lundqvist
Hi Nick

Generally the rule of thumb for this package is that services that
do not have ssl enabled by default (and as only service) should
be rejected. Do you know if that is the case for uw-imap?

I see that dovecot-imapd and courier-imap should probably be
restricted as well. And cyrus imap have changed its name...

Hi, this bug has been unattended for 5 years now. Is there any reason
uw-imapd still conflicts with the harden-servers package?

The Panda-IMAP website suggests that UW-IMAP 2007f has one security fix
that vanilla 2007e does not have (but perhaps that fix was packaged in
 the 4 intervening years?):

No, I already checked that back when the Comodo hack occurred.
Every application needs to manually load the revocation lists, just
 like they
need to manually check the trust chain and all the other
 this-should-all-be-

I understand that they'd have to manually load the lists, but perhaps
 it
would make sense to standardize a location from which they should load
them? Does OpenSSL or GnuTLS have any concept of a revocation store
format, similar to a certificate store, or would this need some
 special-purpose custom format?

And it'd be nice if nss could share that store...

nss apps are more or less starting to use a {/etc/,~/.}pki/nssdb/ which
can be shared accross apps (though I only know about evolution using it
right now).

By the way, shouldn't this bug be clone to libnss3-1d (and maybe
iceweasel and icedove if they ship the certificates themselves)?

Patches welcome. Apart from that, daily images are used...daily...but
gazillion of testers for about 8 years now. So, well, it's your call
to decide if that's secure enough for you. After all, they mostly use
packagesfrom the official Debian archives and these *are*

If you're paranoid about this, I would recommend using the daily

Yep, problems with the radeon driver's fallback behavior when
microcode is not available are not so unusual. :/ Still, provoking
random segfaults is not great. I guess what would be most useful is
(1) to try a recent (3.x) kernel from sid or experimental, (2) to
build from source, enabling some debugging options from the kernel
hacking section in make menuconfig, and then (3) to report this
upstream with a patch.

I can help with (2) and (3), but I cannot promise to be quick at
all.

For now, please attach output from

/usr/share/bug/linux-image-$(uname -r)/script 31

so we can tell what hardware and drivers you are using, then try a
kernel from sid or experimental if you have time (you'll also need the
linux-base and initramfs-tools packages from sid or
squeeze-backports).

Thanks for a pleasant report, and sorry for the delay,
Jonathan

Bug#613670: linux-image-2.6.32-bpo.5-686: EDID checksum failure kills X while switched away using KVM switch

Hi Conrad,

 /var/log/syslog:

A similar problem has turned up in Microsoft Windows 7, where continuous
checking of EDID results in the OS switching to default monitor
resolution after the user switches away (or even turns off their monitor
in some cases). Microsoft apparently blame this on obsolete KVM
hardware and AFAICS have not offered a facility to disable the
continuous checking; I hope there might be a means of disabling the
 check in Debian though

Thanks for reporting it, and sorry for the slow response. I wonder if
the change v2.6.35-rc1~18^2~2 (drm/edid: Allow non-fatal checksum
errors in CEA blocks, 2010-05-25[1]) would help here.

Could you test v2.6.35 or later (e.g., by grabbing a kernel from sid
or experimental with initramfs-tools + linux-base from
squeeze-backports)?

Hi Lars,

I am not making insinuations. I try my best in all my emails to avoid style
figures that may create misunderstandings, especially that I am not a native
English speaker.

I am just pointing out that the situation is blocked if driver A wants no
changes before declaring the DEP accepted, and driver B wants some changes
before the DEP is accepted. I think that we need to discuss this frankly.

I am all for either marking the DEP accepted, or making a new round of
modifications, but sorry for pointing finger, I think that we waited enough for
Steve's input. It is for sure valuable, but his latest email in this thread
shows that it is not ready. I have seen many projects sunk by trying to
involve skilled people who unfortunately do not have time, and I have the
impression that this DEP has this problem.

Have a nice day,

I do not fully understand what the issue is, but I think that it is
an issue with libnotify rather than gnome-settings-daemon.

I'm not sure if it was a libnotify update that broke this package or
gnome-settings-daemon broke itself.

Running gnome-settings-daemon as root appears to be a workaround, and
allows the gtk2 themes to be loaded.

I can also confirm this.

Bug#361954: [Pkg-ossec-devel] [Bug #361954] Any news?

2011-08-30 Thread Jose Antonio Quevedo
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA256

Hi there,

excuse me for this late response.

Although there are some minor issues that are already commented in the
code published in the pkg-ossec git repository, these are the main ones:

- - external zlib: we have compared and discussed around the differences
between original zlib and Ossec's zlib version and, although some of
these modifications seem to be interesting features and will be send
some of them to zlib upstream, IMO this can be overriden and we are
ready to link against the zlib distributed by Debian.
- - OpenSSL exception: we need the OpenSSL exception. We are waitting for
upstream to implement the legal code that avoids this problem but we are
considering to prepare a patch to make things easier to upstream.
- - chroot issue: as you already know, Ossec works in a chrooted
environment, and although this seems to be a a good idea, it's not being
perfectly handled. That's why we are working on a patch to improve this
feature.

Feel free to solve any of the above issues you by yourself and send us a
patch. It would be really helpful.

That's all by now.

Best regards,

2011/8/23 Amaya am...@debian.org

 Hi all!

Any updates on the changes needed for ossec to be packaged in Debian?
 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=361954

Bug#607877: ITP: openid4java -- This library allows you to OpenID-enable your Java webapp

2011-08-30 Thread Xavier Oswald

 Hi Xavier,

Hi Miguel,

Sorry for replying late, I was in vacation.

I'm wondering about what happened to openid4java package since
I remember seeing it at NEW queue on January 2011 but I couldn't
find any FTPmaster reject or something.

It was rejected dur to some .class files included in the package.

I'm preparing a package with an optional Build-Depends on openid4java,
so I have interest to know about the current status of this package.

You can find the current package in the java team git.

I don't know if you want to help packaging openid4java.
Maybe you could join the java team and update it directly in the git.
Or you can just clone it and give me the patch I can apply.

Thx for you interest.

I have some plan to improve openid4java packaging during this next month.

Bug#299678: aptitude: supporting source packages (i.e. from deb-src lines)

2011-08-30 Thread Daniel Hartwig
retitle 299678 aptitude: support installing build-dependencies from
curses/gtk interface
quit

One very helpful improvement to aptitude would be if it would handle
browsing/installing source packages from deb-src sources.

When pointing at the regular debian repositories, this isn't always
necessary, since every source package should be already compiled
(although, this isn't necessarily the case--the amd64 port, for
instance, since it not all packages are currently build). However,
this is very useful for 3rd-party repositories, where being able to
browse/download/install source packages and their build-deps from
within aptitude's GUI would be a very useful feature.

Just tidying this up as it is (at least) 4 separate requests. Please
correct me if I have misinterpreted any of these.

1. Browse source packages

A new grouping policy [1] has been added in 0.6.4-1 which enables
browsing sources in the package view:

# with grouping policy `source,status'
...
--\ eggdrop (2)
  --- Not Installed packages (2)
--\ eglibc (17)
  --\ Upgradable Packages (6)
ilibc-bin
ilibc-dev-bin
ilibc6
ilibc6-dev
ilocales
imultiarch-support
  --- Not Installed Packages (11)
...

2. Download source packages

Not implemented in aptitude but suggested elsewhere [2, 3].

3. Install build-dependencies of packages

- command-line action [4] was added in 0.4.11-1
- the curses interface does not support this yet

4. Build source packages

Not implemented _by aptitude_ but suggested elsewhere [5].

See also: apt-build - frontend to apt to build, optimize and install
packages.

* Summary

The only remaining feature suggested here which is not either already
implemented or covered elsewhere is installing build-dep from the
curses interface.

Retitled.

Bug#615543: base: Firmware files not found by boot process, despite specific files are there and readable for world

That's -ENOENT, which means that userspace wrote a zero-length file
or told request_firmware to return with an error. It doesn't necessarily
actually mean the file couldn't be found.

When I say userspace, what I mean is /lib/udev/firmware.agent. It writes
its errors to syslog. Do you see anything there?

Thanks for reporting and sorry for the slow response,
Jonathan

Dear Debian folks,

running `sudo aptitude update` and `sudo aptitude safe-upgrade` the

During that update the following messages where shown in the terminal

This message only showed up once after `Setting up lvm2 (2.02.86.-1)`
but I am a bit confused what it has to do with
`/var/log/apt/history.log`. In any way, I think no such leakage should
happen.

If the former, what's the oldest fixed version you remember

Unfortunately, I do not remember when this problem went away, but it is
gone. It might even have stopped to occur because of newer iceweasel
versions (4~beta+) that no longer trigger the bug, which I first
installed in March. A week before, I installed
linux-image-2.6.38-rc6-amd64. It is too far in the past to remember more

Description : GNOME Shell extension providing a countdown timer in the
top panel

Installing this package adds a timer application to the GNOME Shell top
panel. With it you can start a timer of any duration and when elapsed,
you'll get a notification. You can also preconfigure various durations to
 avoid having to retype them.

It's a natural replacement of the timer applet for GNOME 2 (or 3 in
 fallback mode).

Users of the Pomodoro method will find this extension very useful.

Bug#625813: xorg: Reoccurrence with diagnostics while in the problem state

2011-08-30 Thread Thomas Thorne
Andreas Beckmann deb...@abeckmann.de 29/08/2011
I see the following possibilities for further investigation:

 * try to reproduce the problem without the non-free nvidia driver, if
this succeeds (i.e. the problem still exists) we can reassign the bug
 back to xorg
 * test with the current nvidia driver from testing (unfortunately we
don't have backports of the current nvidia driver, yet)
 * wait until current nvidia drivers are available in backports

Thanks for the recommendations, I will see if I can update my driver (and the
related packages) from 195.36.31-1 (current stable) to 280.13-1 (unstable). If
I don't see anything for a couple of months after the driver update I will try
to post an update to this bug.

DBD::Firebird is a Perl Database Driver module which works with the DBI
module to provide access to Firebird databases. It provides access to
Firebird databases to Perl scripts.

This is a fork of DBD::Interbase, with the non-free bits removed from the
license and a couple of other improvements. It should be a drop-in free
replacement for DBD::Interbase.

 Hello,

the (to be) attached patch simplifies the build system as well as reducing the
number of files being patched. By using libtoolize and autoreconf all
 patches referring to aclocal.m4, configure, Makefile.in, h4config.h.in,
 depcomp, install-sh, ltmain.sh, missing, mkinstalldirs, config.guess,
config.sub are not needed any longer. The debian/rules part of the patch
 is inlined below:

Svante

I'm perfectly aware of the possibility to run autotools on fly in rules.
I simply disagree about that for a few reasons which can be summarized
in a simple way: doing that exposes to more FTBS errors during the
development cycle (when autotools versions change)
than doing it once with a known working set of tools when (and only when)
it is strictly required.

It is the same reason that motivates me to use maintainer mode in
my own set of automake scripts for all programs I write.

Cheers.

Bug#639778: conky requires packages outside main for compilation (was: Re: conky rejected from backports)

this upload is going to get rejected.

Please be a bit more careful here, thanks.
  Rhonda

The build-depends on nvidia-settings was always there in the first
place; currently, conky in testing/unstable still has libxnvctrl-dev |
nvidia-settings (both in contrib) as build dependencies, even though
conky (the source package) was moved back to main since version
 1.8.1-1. This has already been discussed extensively in #579102;
 please see [1] in particular.

[1] is clearly wrong then, citing the policy:

,--- quote policy ---
| 2.2.1. The main archive area
|
|
| Every package in _main_ must comply with the DFSG (Debian Free
| Software Guidelines).
|
| In addition, the packages in _main_
| * must not require a package outside of _main_ for compilation or
| execution (thus, the package must not declare a Depends,
| Recommends, or Build-Depends relationship on a non-_main_
| package),
| * must not be so buggy that we refuse to support them, and
| * must meet all policy requirements presented in this manual.
`--- quote policy ---

Please read the first list point, emphasis on *compilation*.

As Conky's maintainer, I understand why people might raise objections
to this, but there simply is no easy and straight-forward way to fix
 this

Then the package has to stay in contrib, as tough as this might sound.

The ftpmasters have simply accepted the status quo as a compromise.

Where did that happen? Do you have a hint for that?

In light of all this, would you be willing to re-consider accepting
 conky as-is to Debian backports?

In the light of all this, I'm filing a RC bug against the package for
violating policy 2.2.1.

 Sorry,
Rhonda

Bug#639779: netbase: /etc/sysctl.d/bindv6only.conf should not be the default

2011-08-30 Thread Christian Mueller

Package: netbase
Version: 4.45
Severity: important
Tags: ipv6

I've just discovered that netbase now sets the system parameter
bindv6only. This seems completely wrong to me, especially in the light
that acceptance for IPv6 is still very low simply because there's next
to no interoperability with IPv4. Luckily, at least servers can listen
for IPv4 and IPv6 connections with a single socket, using :::x.x.x.x
addresses for IPv4 clients. I've been busy changing my own code (tons
of stuff) to do just that (i.e. listen to a single IPv6 socket which
will also accept IPv4 connections) and now I find out that this is
disabled per default in Debian...!

The comment in /etc/sysctl.d/bindv6only says:

# This is the default behaviour of almost all modern operating systems.

This is the first time I hear about this. All boxes I'm dealing with
(SunOS, HP-UX, AIX, various Linux distributions) have this questionable
feature disabled and will accept IPv4 connections on an IPv6 socket. The
only operating system I know of that doesn't (didn't?) have a dual mode
IP stack is Windows ;)

not reasonable, at lest in my (and other peoples opinion). The patch has
been build tested on both Linux and Hurd. From what I recall this
software will be replaced by hdf5, when it moves from experimental,
right?

Anyway, I will create a new patch for bug #639287 to make it build for
GNU/Hurd keeping the big patches (especially autotools), and make it as

Bug#639780: linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64: Regression in automatic audio output switching on ASUS G72-GX laptop

2011-08-30 Thread Anton Vorobyov
Package: linux-2.6
Version: 3.0.0-3
Severity: normal

I'm using ASUS G72-GX series laptop with debian testing and since following
transition:
[UPGRADE] linux-image-2.6-amd64 2.6.39+35.1 - 3.0.0+39
experience regression:

1. Boot up into default gnome shell (very little modifications, using default
ALSA output)
2. Run some audiofile to ensure that playback is running
3. Plug in headphone jack into laptop

Result:
Audio is directed to both in-built speakers and headphones

Expected:
Audio from in-built speakers should be redirected to headphones

Several notes:
External mic properly mutes in-built one on current kernel version

Currently available list of options which control audio:
Headphone1 checked
Headphone2 checked
IEC958 not checked
IEC958 Default PCM checked

I tried to play with them and volume sliders. kernel doesn't expose even manual
control over output device muting (as it used to do long time ago in 2.6
kernel series, switching to automatic mode like i described few months before
the upgrade to 3.0)

Bug#442835: dates: cannot edit recurring events

2011-08-30 Thread Timo Juhani Lindfors
Hi,

I imported

http://free-thursday.pieni.net/free-thursday.ics

and I can confirm that

dates 0.4.8-1.1

does not support editing them either. However, this time it does not
print any error messages.

Since dates does not support creating recurring events either I'm
inclined to turn this bug into a wishlist bug since we are requesting a
new feature here.

Bug#639781: lilo: EBDA is big after kernel upgrade (3.0.0-1 - 3.0.0-3)

2011-08-30 Thread Arne Wichmann
Package: lilo
Version: 1:23.2-2
Severity: normal

Hi.

After upgrading my locally-built kernel from version 3.0.0-1.0 to 3.0.0-3.0
without changes to the kernel configuration I get the following message
directly after Loading Linux:

EBDA is big; kernel setup stack overlaps LILO

Changing back to version 3.0.0-1.0 removes this problem. Adding
large_memory (or small_memory) to lilo.conf does not. Are there any size
limitations I should be aware of which I might have passed?

$ ls -lL /boot/vmlinuz-3.0.0

Bug#639783: acetoneiso: should change dependency of libqt4-webkit to libqtwebkit4

2011-08-30 Thread Witold Baryluk
Package: acetoneiso

Severity: normal

I think acetoneiso should change dependency of
libqt4-webkit to libqtwebkit4.

libqt4-webkit is a transitional packges, which
depends on libqtwebkit4.

Some versioning checks would be needed,
before change.

Thanks.

Bug#639784: Please package sphinxsearch 2.0.1

2011-08-30 Thread Michael Mende
Package: sphinxsearch
Severity: wishlist

Hello Radu,

please package the new 2.0 sphinxsearch. I know, it ist currently 2.0.1-beta,
but also the recommended version:

quote
2.0.1-beta (Apr 2011)

Generally recommended release.

Our latest and greatest stable beta release, with real-time indexes, string
attributes, optimized index format, and many other features.

What is a stable beta? It's a release in which, to the best of our knowledge,

most features are production-quality stable;
most features come with additional improvements or fixes;
newly added features did not have any known major bugs at the time of
release;
newly added features might be incomplete and/or less tested.

Core indexing and searching functionality does, of course, fall into the
existing features category and should be rock solid at all times. Examples of
potentially unstable new features that we're mentioning here would be newly
added search operators, SphinxQL syntax clauses, indexing time settings,
advanced optimizations, etc.

I'm not sure if qt3 - qt4 transition was ended,
but maintainer could look at it. (other package
with similar problem is acetoneise).

Thanks, let me check about that. Alastair, should I consider the current libdap

Description : translate XML documents with PO files

ITS Tool allows you to translate your XML documents with PO files, using
rules from the W3C Internationalization Tag Set (ITS) to determine what
to translate and how to separate it into PO file messages.

ITS Tool is designed to make XML documents translatable through PO files
by applying standard ITS rules, as well as extension rules specific to
ITS Tool. ITS also provides an industry standard way for authors to
override translation information in their documents, such as whether a
particular element should be translated.

This tool is used by the last version of LaTeXila, which package I am
maintaining, so I do need to have ITS Tool packaged. :-)

Question is why aptitude did not stopped when download failed?
I was expecting rather termination, retry or question about what to do,
like proceeding, terminating, retrying.

Whatever download failed (it was probably temporary network outage here),
it essentially doesn't doing what user wanted (aptitude asked to continue for
particular
solution, but performed different solution). I see,
aptitude was clever and probably understand that not having claws-mail-extra-

doesn't really break anything, (updating it or not updating it, doesn't really
affect any other package in any way). Yes, nice, but still doing this
unprompted
is not good solution.

I'm not sure if also download problem is not related to some other bugs.

Bug#639791: lltag: Option to force encoding of ID3 tag

2011-08-30 Thread Mirosław Zalewski
Package: lltag
Version: 0.14.4-1
Severity: wishlist

It seems that lltag does not specify encoding of written tags for mp3
files. As a result, tags with non-ASCII characters written in lltag are
displayed malformed in other programs. I did check mpd, easytag and
puddletag. id3v2 displays them correctly, but if I'm correct, id3v2
does not care about encoding as well.

I think that the best way is to create new option for that. If
unspecified, lltag should behave the same as now. I'm not sure
if defaulting to user locale is good idea (for me it is, but don't know
about others).

I found little (200 lines of code) GPLed perl script called
mp3_tag_iconv[0]. It changes encoding of ID3 tags. Maybe
lltag could borrow some code from it?

There is also mid3iconv which changes tags encoding to unicode. It is in
python-mutagen Debian package.

You can find some threads about ID3 encoding on perlmonks.org. They may
be handy.

Best regards

Bug#639627: sympa: comes from upstream

2011-08-30 Thread Roberto Di Cosmo
Package: sympa
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

After looking more into the issue, it seems that list_data
disappears because
 i) the Debian package configure the code without the --expldir option
_and_ with the fhs option
ii) in the upstream source, in configure.ac, when choosing fhs, the
value of expldir does not contain the list_data subdirectory

Hence, it seems that this nees fixing upstream, but I hand in a
one line patch to allow testing the results (to test, you need
to configure at least one virtual robot).

Bug#639794: iceweasel: web console does not evaluate input

2011-08-30 Thread David Banks
Package: iceweasel
Version: 6.0-4
Severity: normal

From the menu, select Tools Web Developer Web Console.
Enter 2 + 2 at the arrow prompt.
Press enter.

The input disappears, but nothing new appears in the console. Expected
behaviour: with the upstream Firefox, the console displays my input above, along
with the result, 4.

Note that the Net and CSS functions of this console do not seem to be
affected. The problem may apply to the JS functionality of the web console in
general, I'm not familiar enough with it to tell.

Although I have some extensions installed below, I have reproduced this issue
with a clean profile and in safe mode.

Thanks for your work on Iceweasel!

Cheers,
David

Bug#639545: rsync handler does not correctly expand rsync options

2011-08-30 Thread intrigeri

Hi Chris, hi rhatto,

Chris Lamb wrote (28 Aug 2011 00:11:36 GMT) :
The rsync helper calls all rsync options as one *argv argument, like
 so:

  execve(/usr/bin/nice, [nice, -n, 0, /usr/bin/rsync, -av
--delete --recursive --numer..., --exclude=/var/bkah...,

The rdiff helper uses sh -c to expand this, so we can probably
 consider that safe enough.

 Patch attached.

 - $nice $rsync ${rsync_options[@]} $filelist_flag $excludes $batch_option
 $orig $dest_path | tee -a $log
 + $nice sh -c $rsync ${rsync_options[@]} $filelist_flag $excludes
 $batch_option $orig $dest_path | tee -a $log

It seems to me this bug is the same as one that was fixed in upstream
Git by commit 3ae23a. Both of you, feel free to confirm or correct me.

Hi,

However, as the program uses its `msgBox` utility instead of
`booleanBox`, you can't select 'yes' so you get stuck in an loop.

Thank you. Applied in upstream Git.

was better IIRC.

Bug#633084: sympa: dh_fixperms -X called with the link to the program, instead of the path to the program

2011-08-30 Thread Roberto Di Cosmo
Package: sympa
Severity: normal

In the package building process for sympa, it is necessary to maintain the
setuid bits
for a certain number of files, more precisely

chmod 4755
/tmp/buildd/sympa-6.1.4~dfsg/debian/sympa//usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/queue
chmod 4755
/tmp/buildd/sympa-6.1.4~dfsg/debian/sympa//usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/bouncequeue
chmod 4755

chmod 4750 aliaswrapper

chmod 6755
/tmp/buildd/sympa-6.1.4~dfsg/debian/sympa//usr/lib/cgi-bin/sympa/sympa_soap_server-wrapper.fcgi

to achieve this result, the current package source usese -X options to
dh_fixperms, as follows

 dh_fixperms -psympa -X /usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue -X
/usr/lib/sympa/bin/bouncequeue

unfortunately, the files /usr/lib/sympa/bin/queue and
/usr/lib/sympa/bin/bouncequeue are just links to
/usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/queue and /usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/bouncequeue, so the
setuid are not preserved

One should use

 dh_fixperms -psympa -X /usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/bouncequeue -X
/usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/queue \
 -X /usr/lib/sympa/lib/sympa/familiqueue -X

I have flashplugin-nonfree installed. When I use Epiphany to visit a

example, visiting http://youtube.com/ yields a message that says

You need to upgrade your Adobe Flash Player to watch this video.
 Download it from Adobe.

If I visit this page using Iceweasel, the video loads successfully.

Bug#639799: cups: Prevents foomatic-db and foomatic-db-engine upgrade

2011-08-30 Thread Eugenio M. Vigo
Package: cups
Version: 1.4.8-2
Severity: normal

The current version of cups prevents the installation of the last foomatic-db
and foomatic-db-engine packages (20110803-3 and 4.0.8-2). Those packages are
set to conflict with cups ( 1.5.0). The solution so far has been to hold the
upgrade.

I've filed this under this package because I consider this to be a bug in cups,
not foomatic-db and foomatic-db-engine. I wonder why those packages were
upgraded before cups. But given the current situation, the obvious solution is
to upgrade cups to 1.5.0 on Wheezy.

Thanks.

Bug#629982: render_barcode_qrcode extension

2011-08-30 Thread Alex Valavanis
tags 629982 confirmed
thanks

This extension will be included upstream by default in inkscape 0.49.
However, it might be worth considering backporting it to the versions
that are currently supported by Debian.

I suppose so, at least for these people which don't have any real SQL database

Bug#639475: openafs-modules-source: modules don't build with kernel-package

2011-08-30 Thread Christoph Anton Mitterer
Hi.

Just had a free minute to try with m-a there seems to be something
fishy, as it doesn't compile with that one, too:

checking if linux kbuild requires EXTRA_CFLAGS... yes
checking for linux kernel module build works... no
configure: error: in `/usr/src/modules/openafs':
configure: error: Fix problem or use --disable-kernel-module...
See `config.log' for more details
make[2]: *** [override_dh_auto_configure] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/openafs'
make[1]: *** [binary-arch] Error 2
make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/openafs'
make: *** [kdist_image] Error 2

Any ideas?

Even manually specifying my headers-dir didn't help.

Bug#637167: iceweasel: reproducible crash (segmentation fault) in libhunspell when typing a comment on Facebook

2011-08-30 Thread Vincent Lefevre
retitle iceweasel: crash (segmentation fault) in libhunspell with français

and with iceweasel 6.0-4, but this time, this wasn't on Facebook, but
on a GLPI system[*] when entering a bug report. I don't know which
word caused the problem, but there was at least a word starting with
E (Error).

What I did is the following:
_ Enter my bug report. The English / US dictionary was active.
_ I switched to the français «Moderne» dictionary.

Iceweasel immediately crashed.

In all the crashes (on Facebook, Wikipedia and GLPI), the dictionary
was français «Moderne» and there was a (non-French) word starting
with E (possibly E alone, as on Facebook, the crash could occur
just after typing E).

Bug#639778: conky requires packages outside main for compilation (was: Re: conky rejected from backports)

2011-08-30 Thread Gerfried Fuchs
 Hi!

* Aron Xu a...@debian.org [2011-08-30 13:14:59 CEST]:
Sorry, I am on vacation, but I can be online sometimes... I didn't see
where is your bug report on BTS, I think it would be better to roll in
ftp-masters to the discussions then, so they have a chance to explain
why it was accepted, and why buildds enable contrib by default even if
 building main packages.

Because ftp masters are only human too, and can make mistakes. Given
that there is no log of the discussion that dererk had with the unnamed
ftpmaster, this is very unfortunate, but mistakes happen.

That doesn't mean that this it was rightfully granted, and the policy
is crystal clear on this, like Vincent Bernat quoted already in
bugreport 579102 in message #129, and like I quoted again with the
opening of 639778. I don't see any need for bringing in any ftp master
for explaining a clear statement from the policy that packages in main
aren't allowed to build-depend on packages outside of main.

 Thanks,
Rhonda
