Bug#658764: free ATI driver corrupts output on Radeon HD 6310

2012-02-05 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi Ben,

Ben Finney wrote:

On the same system, selecting Linux 2.6.32-5-amd64 (from the GRUB menu)

So the problem is restricted to Linux 3.1.0-1 on this system.

Does this happen with version 3.2.4-1 from sid, too? Can you bisect?

Even a few tests of versions halfway between from
http://snapshot.debian.org/ can help a lot in narrowing down the cause
of this particular regression.

See http://bugs.debian.org/607194 and the bugs merged with it for some
background.

Thanks and hope that helps,

Bug#658817: gnome-panel crashes with SIGFPE when in a vertical orientation

2012-02-05 Thread Julian Blake Kongslie
Package: gnome-panel
Version: 3.2.1-2+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'd like to configure gnome-panel to run a single panel on the right
side of my display. When I setup such a configuration in dconf,
gnome-panel exits immediately with this error:

(gnome-panel:13676): GLib-GObject-WARNING **:
/tmp/buildd/glib2.0-2.30.2/./gobject/gsignal.c:2295: signal `size_request' is
invalid for instance `0x1b38600'
Floating point exception

and $? set to 136.

Ubuntu seems to have a bug report filed for this issue at:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libwnck3/+bug/847464

Based on information in that bug report, I rebuilt the gnome-panel
packages with the Debian patch 03_tasklist_orientation.patch removed.
The problem went away.

That patch seems to be in response to Debian bug #524117, which is from
2009. I attempted to reproduce the problem described in that bug with my
recompiled gnome-panel, and could not. I believe this patch may no
longer be needed, and would like you to consider removing it; it seems
to be causing problems rather than solving them at this point.

In case you believe it relevant, I am running the xmonad window manager.
If needed, I can attempt to reproduce under a more normal GNOME session.

I'm happy to test any configurations or patches you would like me to.

Thanks,

Jules

Bug#658818: fails to handle cuesheets with 99 tracks

2012-02-05 Thread Branden Robinson
Package: cuetools
Version: 1.3.1-9
Severity: normal

There's an off-by-one error in cd.c which causes cueprint to wrongly reject
cuesheets with 99 tracks. Its actual limit is 98 tracks, and yet as the
source code notes, the Red Book audio standard permits 99 tracks per disc
(and 99 indices per track).

When I looked into this, I saw that:

1) not only will the same error occur with index numbers, but
2) the wrong preprocessor symbol is being expanded when checking the index
number.

(Can this few people really have ever dealt with Nine Inch Nails's _Broken_
EP? It's not exactly an obscure title, especially among hackers...)

Please find attached a cuesheet which will enable reproduction of the
problem, and a tested patch fixing it.

To reproduce:
$ cueprint -d '%N\n' Nine\ Inch\ Nails/05.Broken.flac.cue

Full disclosure: I did not test the index number breakage, nor my fix for
it.

Yeah, that makes sense. Maybe we should leave that for Raphael to handle.
Although separately it does seem like it would be a good idea to have a

They tend to get recorded on our web page, but I realize that's not the

This and the other changes that are not normally good for NMU is
because I was overstepping my bounds a bit since I have a prior

For now I have no problem shrinking it down and taking care of the

fix the lintian error) be appropriate in this NMU or should I stick to
just RC bugs?

Bug#658820: confusing and contradictory documentation and behavior

2012-02-05 Thread Ross Boylan
Package: noweb
Version: 2.11b-7
Severity: normal

man noweb says
quote
the first documentation chunk must contain a LaTeX \documentclass
command, it must contain \usepackage{noweb} in the preamble, and
finally it must also contain a LaTeX \begin{document} command.
/quote

So I tried this (simplified example):
sample
@
\documentclass{article}
\usepackage{noweb}
\begin{document}
Hi there.

t1.py=
class Foo:
   pass
@
\end{document}
/sample

Running this through noweb produces a tex file that can't be latexed
because the first word is an undefined control sequence.

Experimenting revealed that removing the first line, the one with the
@, fixed the problem. It also showed that emacs noweb mode kept
jumping to the top of the file every time I hit enter or tab when the
first @ was missing. So the first alternative doesn't work and the
second produces a file that is very difficult to edit with emacs.
Note I do have ess installed, and as per another bug I'm getting emacs
noweb mode from there.

The second issue is that the format of the input file differs between
noweb and noweave. The latter generates the boilerplate automatically
(\documentclass through \begin{document} as well as the
\end{document}) and also has different rules for generating output
files than noweb (noweb makes file from all top level code blocks with
names that contain no spaces while notangle creates it from * by
default or a command-line specified name).

It is unfortunate that the two commands, in the same system, place
contradictory requirements on the input file.

  find /path/to/elf_binaries/ |xargs elfverify -f

Unfortunately, elfverify segfaulted because it tried to do a check on a

  $ elfverify -f dir/subdir/
  Segmentation fault

Can you please patch elfverify to send an error message instead of
  segfaulting ?

elfsign has been removed from unstable (and testing) because it's dead

Is there any alternative to elfsign then ?

I'm not aware of one, but I haven't really been looking, either.

Hi,

Thanks for merging the patch. Unfortunately it still doesn't build given
symbols file have been added to libmono, but without the s390x version
of this file. I am attaching it to this mail.

Note that zelenka.debian.org has a sid_s390x chroot for a few weeks,
where you can try to build mono.

Thanks,
Aurelien

Now, maybe it's because the drive is connected through an USB adapter.

Yes, it's because your drive is connected through an USB adapter, which
hddtemp doesn't support.

Still, smartcl seems to be able to figure out :
 # smartctl --all /dev/sdb | head -n 10
 smartctl 5.40 2010-07-12 r3124 [armv5tel-unknown-linux-gnueabi] (local build)

Reading from the description of hddtemp, it seems it should be able to run
for whatever smartcl is able too... or I'm not invoking it the right way ?

No, the description of hddtemp only mentions PATA, SATA and SCSI, it
doesn't mentions hard drive connected through USB.

While perl builds fine on amd64 with the attached patch, I'm slightly
uneasy about pushing it to unstable without wider testing.

Have you verified the output from hardening-flags before and after,
both of perl and of a sample XS module (I used libimager-perl as a test).

No - I just checked the build log, $Config{ccflags} and the like.

Will do that when I have the time.

Probably not a bad idea. We'll need to binnmu all XS modules to pick
up the hardening flags anyway, so it'd be as well to make sure that
we've test-rebuilt those if not Arch: all packages.

Also, maybe check with upstream that there aren't any known issues with
these flags?

I see that you fixed the problem that I identified in [1] with cppflags
not getting set by including them in ccflags.

 [1]
 http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/perl-maintainers/2012-January/002886.html

I'd sort of missed that mail, sorry. Yes, I think this is the only
way to get cppflags into the build.

Putting the ldflags into lddlflags along with -shared is rather ugly,
but I couldn't come up with anything better.

Bug#658662: drm/i915: no signal via DisplayPort on Sandy Bridge since Linux 3.2

2012-02-05 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Hi,

Peter Colberg wrote:

To summarize: The external display connected via DisplayPort works
fine with Linux 3.1, while, with Linux 3.2, it works with lower
(non-native) resolutions and fails with the maximum (native)
 resolution.

Please report this upstream, following instructions from [1], and let
us know the bug number so we can track it.

The upstream developers may ask you to bisect to find the specific
patch that introduced the problem. It works like this:

 0. Prerequisites:

apt-get install git build-essential

 1. Get a copy of the kernel source repository:

git clone \
  git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
cd linux

Or if you already have a copy, update it:

cd linux
git fetch origin

 2. Test v3.2:

git checkout v3.2
cp /boot/config-$(uname -r) .config; # current configuration
make localmodconfig; # optional: minimize configuration
make deb-pkg; # optionally with -jn for parallel build
dpkg -i ../name of package
reboot
... test test test ...

If it doesn't exhibit the problem, declare victory and we can
try to figure out what Debian-specific patch (unlikely) or
configuration change (more likely) caused it. Otherwise:

 3. Test v3.1:

git checkout v3.1
make silentoldconfig; # reuse configuration
make deb-pkg; # maybe with -j4
dpkg -i ../name of package
reboot
... test test test ...

Hopefully it does not exhibit the problem.

 4. Test a version halfway between:

git bisect start v3.2 v3.1; # checks out a version halfway between to
test
make silentoldconfig; # reuse configuration
make deb-pkg; # maybe with -j4
dpkg -i ../name of package
reboot
... test test test ...

git bisect bad; # if it exhibits the problem
git bisect good; # if the external display works fine, after a
 # power-cycle and with the right resolution
git bisect skip; # if some other problem makes it hard to test

 5. Another version to test will be automatically checked out. So:

make silentoldconfig
make deb-pkg; # maybe with -j4
dpkg -i ../name of package
reboot
... test ...
git bisect good/bad/skip

 6. Rinse and repeat until bored.

 7. After sufficiently many iterations, git will indicate the first
bad commit --- hoorah! If bored before then, you can run git
bisect log to print information about the versions tested in a
form that will allow someone else to pick up where you left off.
At any step if the gitk package is installed, you can run git
bisect visualize to watch the regression range narrowing.

Hope that helps,
Jonathan

You mean you prefer doing the upload yourself, right? Of course,

I'll then notify you when the update round is over and send a patch

Bug#656886: roundcube: problems with symlinks in /var/lib/roundcube/plugins/

2012-02-05 Thread Vincent Bernat
OoO Pendant le repas du dimanche 05 février 2012, vers 19:50, Marc
Dequènes (Duck) d...@duckcorp.org disait :

The output of ls -l is misleading for this file:
 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 49 janv. 22 12:37
 /var/lib/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui/js/jquery-ui.min.js -
 ../../../../javascript/jquery-ui/jquery-ui.min.js

 Why misleading?

Becauseitwouldappear thatittriestoaccess
/var/lib/javascript/jquery-ui/jquery-ui.min.js (which does not exist)
while in fact there is an intermediate symlink:
 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 37 déc. 26 21:50 /var/lib/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui
- /usr/share/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui

Therefore, the above symlink works.

 I have:
 Alias /roundcube /var/lib/roundcube

I'm using a dedicated vhost, but was using /usr/share/roundcube.

It seems i missed the change in the changelog in 0.5.1-1 « Rework how
symlinks work. ». Nevertheless, after changing the directory, it does
 not work better.

The correct directory has always been /var/lib/roundcube but we
previously arranged so that /usr/share/roundcube would work too but it
was getting quite complicated. I am unsure when we removed the symlinks
From /usr/share/roundcube to /var/lib/roundcube. I would say this was
for 0.3.

I had another look at the problem. When building your package i get
 (using debc):
 lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2012-02-05 19:06
 ./var/lib/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui -
 /usr/share/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui
In my system, it is not a symlink, but a directory. I may have done a
mistake earlier, so i moved /var/lib/roundcube/plugins/jqueryui away,
before upgrading to 0.7.1-1. This file is then recreated as a
 directory!

Looking a bit further, i can see /usr/share/roundcube/plugins should
be a directory, but in my system is a symlink to
 /var/lib/roundcube/plugins.

It really seems the migration to the new symlink layout did not work
 correctly on my system :-(.

That's quite surprising because it is the job of dpkg to work with those
symlinks. I will try to find which version had symlinks in the old way
and test an upgrade.

Bug#658676: iceweasel-l10n-es-mx: iceweasel doesn't work with the l10n-es-mx package

2012-02-05 Thread Mike Hommey

 If you unzip this file

 /usr/lib/iceweasel/extensions/langpack-es...@iceweasel.mozilla.org.xpi

and add the ENTITY to browser.dtd like this:

 !ENTITY videoShowStats.label Mostrar estadísticas
 !ENTITY videoShowStats.accesskey e

and re-zip the plugin and install it, and re-run Iceweasel, you'll
get the same error but for a different missing entity.

I changed about 6 and I just keep getting new missing entities.

Yeah, the translated string is missing, and my build hooks apparently
don't trigger a merge as it is supposed to happen. I discussed this with
Axel Hecht from Mozilla yesterday, and what is supposed to happen (and
if you install the es-MX upstream xpi, you should see it) is for the
en-US string to be inserted.

Bug#658686: aoid mixing versions on upgarde

2012-02-05 Thread Harald Dunkel
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Package: apt
Version: 0.8.15.9
Severity: wishlist

It would be nice to have a config option telling apt to
either upgrade _all_ installed packages built from a single
source package, or none. I would like to tell apt to avoid
mixed-versions ugrades (or use them as a last resort if
everything else fails).

Setting this option could help to reduce the number of
options to examine on an upgrade conflict, esp. for large
package sets. Packages built from a single source could be
treated as a unit.

Probably its OK if the suggested config option is set to
off by default to get the current behavior.

Please excuse if I am too blind to see, but I haven't seen
such an option documented yet.

Many thanx

be able to drop dir? For now, the solution we have found is to tell
dh_auto_install to install in debian/tmp, and create a debian/install
which contains all the desired directories, which is tedious. Or another
solution would be to remove the file explicitly after dh_auto_install,
but dh_auto_install could as well just do it itself, to avoid the
same tedious thing for all simple packages which have a texinfo
documentation.

dh_auto_install is just a generic way to run make install, it's not
appropriate for it to go in and try to override the installation
sequence. dh_install -X could be used,

In the case at stake, no, because it's a single-binary package, so
everything is already installed. One thus has to pass --destdir to
dh_auto_install, and then use dh_install by hand, it's a bit tedious.

or you could fix the Makefile to not install it

It's an automake Makefile, I don't really want to patch that :)

(why should an arbitrary make install overwrite
   /usr/share/info/dir.gz?),

It doesn't overwrites it, it updates it. make install is originally
intended to install in the real place ;)

or possibly fix texinfo to not create it when building documentation.

That could be an option. Cc-ing automake: in the case DESTDIR is not
empty, automake should perhaps prevent the dir.gz update.

FYI in latest versions of automake, if you set AM_UPDATE_INFO_DIR=no
in the environment it will suppress creating the dir file. If
debhelper just set that it would solve the problem.

Bug#658688: GNOME 3 integration: Use GIO instead of deprecated GnomeVFS

2012-02-05 Thread Michael Biebl
Source: icedove
Version: 8.0-2
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Hi,

GnomeVFS has been deprecated and replaced by GIO.
For proper integration in GNOME 3, GIO support needs to be enabled.

While looking at this, I also found that the package has a build
dependency on libgnomeui-dev which is no longer useful. Also the
--enable-gnomeui configure is gone.

When test-building the package (9.0.1) I noticed that the package also
needed an explicit build-dependency on python, otherwise ./configure
errs out [1]. So I added those.

Please consider applying the attached patch in your next upload.

Thanks,
Michael

Bug#639910: SBT Debian packaging suspended

2012-02-05 Thread Thomas Koch
Hi,

since I've been asked: I'm currently writing my bachelor thesis and won't
continue working on SBT Debian packaging until after easter holidays.

However in general I'd strongly suggest that packaging of SBT for a
distribution is only continued, if upstream can be convinced to support a
build path without a previous SBT binary, e.g.:

1. build a minimal SBT without SBT
2. build the full SBT with the minimal SBT from 1.

I spent a full week to compile SBT without SBT (and learning more about Scala
and SBT). Any third party scripts to bootstrap SBT could break at any time and
require a lot of work to fix, if upstream does not support this build
strategy.

Initial attempt to support build without sbt:
https://github.com/harrah/xsbt/pull/308

Best regards,

Thomas Koch, http://www.koch.ro

I'm rather confident that the RM would grant a freeze exception for
 such an upload.

The examples are actually in the manpage files, but man doesn't display
 them.

 I suppose that

 DocBook XSL Stylesheets v1.75.2http://docbook.sf.net/

doesn't convert to the correct manpage format.

Ok, are you cloning this bug against the responsible package to get
 this build issue fixed?

Upstream fixed the SGML source file, but I get the following failure when
 building Courier from source:

 ../docbook/sgml2man rfc822.sgml rfc822.3
warning: failed to load external entity
 /usr/share/sgml/docbook/xsl-stylesheets/manpages/docbook.xsl
 cannot parse /usr/share/sgml/docbook/xsl-stylesheets/manpages/docbook.xsl
../docbook/sgml2man: 27: cannot open rfc822.3.tmpdir/*: No such file
../docbook/sgml2man: 27: cannot open rfc822.3.tmpdir/*: No such file

According to the changelog, this bug was fixed in an upload to
experimental with version 0.65.2-1. I verified that building in
current testing works (though I did not check further, especially I
did not search for non fatal build errors etc.). Also
./debian/courier-maildrop/usr/share/man/man7/maildropex.7.gz looks
fine there as well.

If you intended to keep this bug open for another reason please
reopen.

Greetings

Helge

 Dear Maintainer,

lightdm appears to leak several file descriptors to the child process

 running in an interactive session.

For example, running ls -l /proc/self/fd from a terminal in X yields

FD 6 is particularly worrisome, as it allows any process to write to
 the root-owned lightdm log.

It might be relevant that I use an .xsession script and Xmonad with no
 desktop environment.

Yep, you seem to be right. I don't inherit them in all my processes, but
indeed xfce4-session has them. Forwarding to upstream and tagging
security.

I'm not completely sure what are the security impact right now as I
don't exactly know what the relevant “shared” fd except the lightdm.log.
There's one where the pipe is opened by Xorg too but that might be
normal.

 Hi,

I don't know if this issue is related with bug #652950 but since
upgrade to version 10, iceweasel didn't work with the l10n-es-mx package
and just display the following message (screenshot attached):

Did that really happen with 10.0-1, or was the l10n-es-mx package
outdated?

Also, would you care to justify such short delay[0] and urgency=high?

Bug#658341: Call for Vote: upload of multi-arch enabled dpkg (in time for wheezy)

2012-02-05 Thread Andreas Barth
* Andreas Barth (a...@ayous.org) [120205 10:34]:
 * Bdale Garbee (bd...@gag.com) [120202 15:16]:
  A. While recognizing the substantial benefits of thorough code review, the
Technical Committee believes the goal of multiarch support in the
Debian wheezy release is sufficiently important as to warrant accepting
the current draft implementation into the archive, even if code review
by the primary dpkg C maintainer cannot be completed in time. However,
as much review as possible is strongly desired.

The Technical Committee therefore overrides the decision of the dpkg
maintainer to require complete code review before upload of the
multiarch implementation in dpkg to the Debian archive and sets the
 following upload dates:

February 6th: upload to experimental for general testing
 February 20th: upload to unstable

For each of those deadlines, if no implementation of dpkg with
multiarch support has been uploaded to the archive for that
distribution by that date, Raphaël Hertzog is empowered by the
Technical Committee to upload a version of dpkg with multiarch support
to that distribution. The upload may be done on or after that date,
when, in his judgement, the dpkg implementation meets the quality
standards expected for a Debian core package in those archive
 distributions.

The Technical Committee strongly encourages anyone with the required
knowledge to review the multiarch implementation proposed for upload
and provide the results of that review to the debian-dpkg list as soon
as possible so that the code can receive as much review as possible and
the results of that review can be incorporated into the code by those
dates. Similarly, the Technical Committee encourages as broad testing
and review of the experimental implementation as possible so that as
many bugs as possible can be resolved prior to uploading it to
 unstable.

This option requires a 3:1 majority.

And with my vote (and Steves in
http://lists.debian.org/20120205092246.gb15...@virgil.dodds.net ) the
outcome is no longer in doubt, so A is the decision.

Does it mean that after a rebuild, it won't work anymore with a kernel
  8.x?

Probably. After several hours I've given up trying to make userland
compatible with both kernels. Specifically with CAM, the required
patch would be very intrusive (a struct is modified carelessly, which
would require duplicating the struct, all structs that include it, and
versioning in all the functions that rely on any of that). If someone
volunteers feel free to supply a patch, but IMHO with manpower being
so scarce this is a dead end.

The problem there is that given that all 9.x packages have been already
pushed to the archive with ABI changes and so on, we *must* switch the
default kernel for wheezy to 9.x. I don't say it's a bad decision, but
I would have prefer to have some discussion about, it including the
possible consequences of such a choice, instead of getting to the point
of not having any other choice.

Now we have no choice than making a real plan for switching to 9.x
kernel:
- We have to make sure users are using wheezy/sid with a 9.x kernel.
- We have to provide an upgrade path for users, including the best
moment to switch from one kernel to another in the release notes.
- The build daemons are going to stay with the 8.1 kernel up to the
release of wheezy. Will it work? Sometimes after they are going to
switch to a 9.x kernel, but they should still be able to build squeeze
  packages. Will it work?

Who wants to work on addressing these points?

I'm pretty sure I found the problem: I had the same issue and after a

missing. As a result, the libmozgnome.so component is not loaded, so the
system settings are not read.

Attached is a patch which fixes this problem.

Bug#658694: approx: Needs special handling for InRelease{,.pgp}

2012-02-05 Thread Philipp Matthias Hahn
Package: approx
Version: 5.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

as a DD myself I run approx behind my DSL line to update my main host
and the virtual environments. Sometimes updating the pbuilder
environment fails with

 W: Failed to fetch
gzip:/var/lib/apt/lists/partial/localhost:_debian_dists_sid_main_binary-amd64_Packages
  Hash Sum mismatch
E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones
used instead.

This is caused by approx returning a newer Packages file then given in
the corresponding InRelease file:

 $ HEAD http://{ftp.de.debian.org,localhost:}/debian/dists/sid/InRelease
 Server: Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) DAV/2 Server: approx/5.1 Ocamlnet/3.3.5
 Content-Length: 190134 Content-Length: 190134
 Last-Modified: Sun, 05 Feb 2012 08:22:41 GMT Last-Modified: Sun, 05 Feb 2012
02:22:38 GMT

Here the local version of approx is older then on the Debian server.

 $ HEAD
http://{ftp.de.debian.org,localhost:}/debian/dists/sid/main/binary-amd64/Packages.gz
 Server: Apache/2.2.9 (Debian) DAV/2 Server: approx/5.1 Ocamlnet/3.3.5
 Content-Length: 7441825 Content-Length: 7441825

 Last-Modified: Sun, 05 Feb 2012 08:03:52 GMT Last-Modified: Sun, 05 Feb 2012
08:03:52 GMT

But the Packages file is newer then the InRelease file, so the hash sums won't
match.

If would probably help if approx knows about the Release.pgp → InRelease →
Packages* dependency and would use that knowledge to invalidate its cached
version to force a re-fetch of the *Release* files.
Currently I resolve this situation by deleting the *Release* files by hand each
time it happens.

 cause?

No, it hasn't changed. It's due to multiple bind mounting in schroot,
and therefore is not a usual case, so it's not on top priority of people
TODO list.

If not and the maintainers don't feel comfortable disabling the
tests would it be possible to manually build and upload the binnmus
in an environment that doesn't suffer the issue so that the packages
are installable on kfreebsd again and transitions and builds of
 dependent packages can proceed?

I can do manual builds and uploads if needed.

Bug#658696: dpkg-dev: Please document the dependencies field in deb-shlibs(5)

2012-02-05 Thread Niels Thykier
Package: dpkg-dev
Version: 1.16.1.2
Severity: minor

Hi,

I read deb-shlibs(5) today and I felt it was rather vague on the
dependencies field. Fortunately, Policy Manual §8.6.3 has the
following:

dependencies has the same syntax as a dependency field in a binary
package control file. It should give details of which packages are
required to satisfy a binary built against the version of the library
contained in the package. See Syntax of relationship fields, Section
7.1 for details.

The example in deb-shlibs(5) is not enough to deduce this[1]. The
manpage does say See the Debian Policy Manual for (further) details.
However, I feel deb-shlibs(5) should explicitly tell me that
dependencies has the same syntax as the Depends field[2].

~Niels

[1] Mind you, I think it is better to keep the example simple.

[2] I don't mind being sent to the Policy for reading up on the
syntax of a dependency field.

Bug#658698: RM: wmakerconf -- NBS; RC-buggy; abandoned upstream

2012-02-05 Thread Rodolfo Garcia
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi,

I am requesting the removal of wmakerconf because this package don't have
upstream. The official developer [1] cannot maintain the application and one
person [2] started with the maintaining of the application but now is missing
in action. Then, the upstream is dead.

The current version of wmakerconf in debian was Orphaned. (I changed the status
to ITA), but the problem is that this package don't have upstream.

I contacted [3] with the windowmaker devel mail list to get help. They don't
want to be the upstream too. For these reasons, I am requesting the removal of
this package.

Thanks a lot.

Likely a mirror issue or disk full. Can you provide more info from what

I'm OK with adding the Conflicts, as long as they don't cause any problems

Bug#658341: Conclusion: upload multi-arch enabled dpkg (in time for wheezy)

2012-02-05 Thread Bdale Garbee
On Thu, 02 Feb 2012 08:16:34 -0700, Bdale Garbee bd...@gag.com wrote:
I therefore call for an immediate vote on the following ballot.

With votes from 7 of 8 committee members, all ranking A as their first
preference, the outcome of this ballot is no longer in doubt, and we have
met the required 3:1 majority.

The decision of the committee is:

The Technical Committee strongly encourages anyone with the required
knowledge to review the multiarch implementation proposed for upload
and provide the results of that review to the debian-dpkg list as soon
as possible so that the code can receive as much review as possible and
the results of that review can be incorporated into the code by those
dates. Similarly, the Technical Committee encourages as broad testing
and review of the experimental implementation as possible so that as
many bugs as possible can be resolved prior to uploading it to
unstable.

Thank you again to Russ Allbery for help with the resolution text, and
to my fellow committee members for prompt attention to this matter.

Bug#648993: ecl: FTBFS on hurd-i386

2012-02-05 Thread Pino Toscano
Hi,

Alle mercoledì 16 novembre 2011, Svante Signell ha scritto:
The attached patch fixes the FTBFS problems of ecl on GNU/Hurd. When
native threads are enabled the ./ecl_min compile command hangs.

Preface: libgc, used by ecl, makes use of the SIGUSR1 SIGUSR2 signals
(handling them on its own) to respectively suspend and threads when
the main thread needs to stop the world and garbage collect or so.

In ecl, src/c/unixint.d, there is the following function:
| static void
| install_process_interrupt_handler()
| {
| #ifdef SIGRTMIN
| # define DEFAULT_THREAD_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL SIGRTMIN + 2
| #else
| # define DEFAULT_THREAD_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL SIGUSR1
| #endif
| #if defined(ECL_THREADS) !defined(ECL_MS_WINDOWS_HOST)
|   if (ecl_get_option(ECL_OPT_TRAP_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL)) {
| int signal = ecl_get_option(ECL_OPT_THREAD_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL);
| if (signal == 0) {
|   signal = DEFAULT_THREAD_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL;
| ecl_set_option(ECL_OPT_THREAD_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL,
|signal);
| }
| mysignal(signal, non_evil_signal_handler);
| #ifdef HAVE_SIGROCMASK
| sigdelset(cl_core.default_sigmask, signal);
| pthread_sigmask(SIG_SETMASK, cl_core.default_sigmask, NULL);
| #endif
|   }
| #endif
| }
given on Hurd we don't have realtime signals yet, SIGRTMIN (and
SIGRTMAX) is not defined, which makes SIGUSR1 the signal being used for
the inter-thread communication, overriding the SIGUSR1 handler set by
libgc.

The solution (a bit of hack, actually) I have is use a different signal
for DEFAULT_THREAD_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL (I chose SIGINFO, generally not used
and not POSIX); this allowed me to compile ecl correctly.
I attached the patch for it; note I don't think it should be forwarded
upstream, as it is not clean and kind of working around the lack of
realtime signals in Hurd.

Well, given that ecl explicitly uses libgc, which explicitly uses
SIGUSR1, it sounds reasonable to at least notify them of the issue.

libgc doesn't uses SIGUSR1 everywhere, just on FreeBSD (not kFreeBSD)
and on Hurd. Everywhere else it uses SIGRTMIN + 5 SIGRTMIN + 6.

What ecl could do is check whether there's a signal handler already set
for DEFAULT_THREAD_INTERRUPT_SIGNAL, and try again with other signal(s).
Although, this still wouldn't help if ecl would first set the signal
handler, and then libgc would do the same.

Bug#658700: libpam-usb: Insufficient entropy in pad files

2012-02-05 Thread Toby Speight
Package: libpam-usb
Version: 0.5.0-1+tms1
Severity: normal
Tags: security, patch

When creating pad files of random data, the randomness is quite small.
For an attacker with a local account, the time of login and process id
are quite easy to guess. (Using the deterministic rand() generator to
increase the length to 1024 bytes doesn't generate any extra randomness,
so that's a red herring). Being generous, there's probably 8-12 bits of
entropy, from the point of view of a local adversary.

This patch increases the entropy bits sizeof(int)*CHAR_BIT bits (i.e. 32
bits where int is 32 bits), although it does nothing to deal with the
false impression of security given by creating a 8192-bit file.

Description: Increase entropy of generated pad files
Seeding the random number generator from PID and current time
provides very little entropy, as these can be guessed quite closely
by an attacker, so use the kernel's random number generator instead.

Bug#658701: mdadm: should send email if mismatches are reported by a check

2012-02-05 Thread Russell Coker
Package: mdadm

Feb 5 22:55:09 xev mdadm[20730]: RebuildFinished event detected on md device
/dev/md0, component device mismatches found: 20608 (on raid level 1)

When a check initiated by /etc/cron.d/mdadm finds an error mdadm will discover
this and log an error such as the above with facility DAEMON. But it doesn't
send an email.

I believe that this is a serious bug, it seems to me that one of the most
significant conditions it can encounter that should be immediately reported to
the sysadmin is the fact that the contents of disks are changing and breaking
RAID consistency!

For a 3-disk mirror or a RAID-6 such an error can be reliably corrected as long
as all the other disks are fine. If you have an array with double-redundancy
and one disk fails entirely while another returns dodgey data then you lose,
and obviously anyone who creates a doubly-redundant array wants protection
against that sort of thing.

With a RAID-1 or RAID-5 array every mismatch is an indication of real data
corruption and is very important.

The following patch makes mdadm send email about such events.

Bug#654229: NMU to DELAYED/5

2012-02-05 Thread Lokesh Gidra
tags 654229 + patch pending
thanks

Hello,

It's been almost a month since Alex Thüring said he would do a new
release. So, I think a patch on debian side in the mean time would be
welcomed. Hence, I prepared a NMU which fixes this. Jakub has kindly
accepted to sponsor this NMU. It has been uploaded to DELAYED/5.

Kind Regards,
Lokesh

Yes it is reproducible with upstream kernel

If it affects upstream, for this kind of reports it's much better to
report them to FreeBSD PR database instead:

produces a package with a /usr/share/info/dir.gz. Shouldn't debhelper
be able to drop dir?

Reopening the bug and retitling it.

Bug#658707: samba: NTLM CRAP authentication for workstation fails with NT_STATUS_NOLOGON_WORKSTATION_TRUST_ACCOUNT

2012-02-05 Thread Gregory Colpart
Package: samba
Version: 2:3.6.3-1
Severity: important

Hello,

I used Samba 3.4.8 on Lenny for Wi-Fi authentification
with Freeradius+EAP/MSCHAPv2+ntlm_auth. I upgraded to
Squeeze friday. Firstly, I need to use samba from Sid because
#612049 ; secondly, I have a bug/regression : when a workstation
(XP or Seven) try to authenticate, I have this error:

[2012/02/05 11:16:24.418248, 2] auth/check_samsec.c:283(sam_account_ok)
sam_account_ok: Wksta trust account hostname$ denied by server
[2012/02/05 11:16:24.418323, 2]
winbindd/winbindd_pam.c:1883(winbindd_dual_pam_auth_crap)
NTLM CRAP authentication for user [DOMAINE]\[HOSTNAME$] returned
NT_STATUS_NOLOGON_WORKSTATION_TRUST_ACCOUNT (PAM: 9)

Then all workstations fail to authenticate and have Wi-Fi :-(

For your information, I look in Samba 3 source code, and I find
this condition in auth/check_samsec.c file:

 if (acct_ctrl  ACB_WSTRUST) {
 if (!(user_info-logon_parameters
MSV1_0_ALLOW_WORKSTATION_TRUST_ACCOUNT)) {
DEBUG(2,(sam_account_ok: Wksta trust account %s denied by
server\n, pdb_get_username(sampass)));
 return NT_STATUS_NOLOGON_WORKSTATION_TRUST_ACCOUNT;
 }
 }

I don't think workstations stop to send MSV1_0_ALLOW_WORKSTATION_TRUST_ACCOUNT
flag,
then the bug is probably with handling logon_parameters. Samba bug 8548[*] is
interessant but the fix is already in 3.6.3 ! Another information, I try a
crapy hack:
disable this condition in source code and rebuild samba package: it works well.

Bug#658708: ikiwiki: proposal for actiontabs theme for formatting of pre and code elements

2012-02-05 Thread Rogério Brito
Package: ikiwiki
Version: 3.20120202
Severity: wishlist

Hi, Joey.

I happen to like the way that github formats their code in both
code and pre elements and I came up with a dirty way of copying what
they do (staring at their code, modifying it a little bit etc.) so that it
blends moderately well with the actiontabs theme.

My local.css file is attached and I would love it if you included that in a
future release.

It surely can be reduced, but my CSS-fu is rusty at the moment, but, as you,
I also belive in incremental, continuous software development.

Thanks,

Bug#658709: libxine2: Unable to watch DVB

2012-02-05 Thread Thomas Maass
Package: libxine2
Version: 1.2.0-5
Severity: normal
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,
With xinelib1.2 I am unable to watch DVB.
Using a DVB-T Stick and clicking DVB in xine-ui
brings Buffering to 100%, but then it stops.
The control light of my DVB-T stick is on.
The Hardware runs, watching for example in
VLC works. No related console output is visible,
just this:
input_dvb: continuing in get_instance
