Dear Maintainer,

The game Torchlight for Linux crashes when entering certain location. It
seems the problem is in mesa package and its checks for mipmap

Bug#695495: wavpack: hybrid mode data corruption

2012-12-08 Thread Julian Hughes
Package: wavpack
Version: 4.60.1-3
Severity: important

wavpack in hybrid mode produces corrupt data on amd64.
Example:
$ wavpack -m -c -h -b300 pcm_audiosample.wav

.

$ wvunpack -m pcm_audiosample.wv

WVUNPACK Hybrid Lossless Audio Decompressor Linux Version 4.60.1

unpacked md5: d56f9ea586ef25828a1e3fa8ff2408f9
MD5 signatures should match, but do not!

This bug is apparently caused by use of memcpy() instead of memmove()
and is architecture-specific. The wavpack developer reports it as
being fixed in svn trunk:

Hi Holger,

not all the configurations operated by cloud-init depend on the EC2 API,
so I am not sure if it would be right to single out one API in the description,
unless cloud-init is strongly tied with it.

(I just debtagged the cloud-init binary package to signal that it is implemented
in Python).

What do others think ?

Cheers,

Bug#695494: xterm -title not working

2012-12-08 Thread patrick295767
Package: xterm
Version: 261-1

Hi,

Yeah, it is surprising but it is not working on debian stable (squeeze).
It is kinda annoying.

How to reproduce, first:
  @debian:~$ xterm -title "quake_console"

and then:

pat@debian:~$ wmctrl -l
0x02600024 0 debian reportbug-xterm-20121209-30122-9muH3T + (/tmp) -
VIM
0x02400024 0 debian pat@debian: ~

My xterm rc is not customed at all, but default.

It should be fixed in the next release of debian if you might find some
time to check the code.

Yours sincerely.

This seems correct. The suggested workaround there, to set -ssl3 by
hand, also works for python:
import socket, ssl
sg = ssl.wrap_socket(socket.create_connection(('secure.nicovideo.jp',
443)), ssl_version=ssl.PROTOCOL_SSLv3)

That's beautiful. Thanks for a clear report.

Can you say a little more about the server hosting this share (Windows
Server or samba? What version? etc).

If you remember which version introduced it, that could help in
tracking this down. (In other words, what are the newest working and
oldest non-working versions you've tried?)

There has been work on the upstream CIFS driver recently, including
making that message more precise. Could you try 3.6.y from
experimental and let us know how it goes?

If it's fixed, the next step will be to try to find which patch fixed
it and apply the same to wheezy. If it's broken, we can take this
upstream. So either result is progress.

Hope that helps,
Jonathan

Bug#695492: linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64: Ctrl-C on program accessing CIFS mount breaks/hangs mount

2012-12-08 Thread John Darrah
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.2.32-1

When using a program like 'find' or 'cp' in an operation involving a CIFS
mounted network
location and then typing a Ctrl-C to terminate it will cause -all- CIFS mount
points to
become unusable. To fix this, you just unmount them and then re-mount again.
This is repeatable
as often as I choose. I might also note this behaviour has been around since I
ran 2.6 series.

2012-12-08 Thread Sam Lantinga
SDL 1.3 was an unstable pre-release API and should not be included in
distributions.

SDL 2.0 is largely stable and if the dev package is built with directfb
support it should have a dependency on the directfb development package.

Cheers!

This is also fixed in git. It happens when your upload target is the
same as the meta class of that file. There's code to avoid loops that
was wrong.

2012-12-08 Thread Jeremy Bicha

I tried uploading a package to Ubuntu but it failed. Here's my

Bug#538125: So, what's up with packaging of scantailor?

2012-12-08 Thread Rogério Brito
Dear Daniel,

The last activity on this bug seems to be more than 1 year ago and the
package is alreay in Ubuntu.

In fact, just grabbing the package in Ubuntu and recompiling it in Debian
gives us a perfectly good package.

Also, the packaging that is in Ubuntu is very good, and was last touched by
highly competent people (some of them included here in CC).

I can lend a hand on this package if it is put on collab-maint, but I am
already spread too thin maintaining many packages.

So, would there be any chance of having scantailor in Debian? It is *SO*
much better than unpaper, not to say that it is faster.

That sounds like a good start, are you exporting this list? We can make
adjustments to the heuristics as feedback comes in.

I'm thinking for the PTS side, we should have a todo item like this:

Your package probably meets the criteria for needing a screenshot, please
upload one.

With "criteria" being a link to the human-readable explanation of the
heuristics and "upload" simply links source package page.

Even if they don't using distromatch, those other distributions can map
their packages to Debian packages and thus use debtags in some way.

Bug#642136: network-manager: Connecting to a wifi network requires system privileges

2012-12-08 Thread Florian Schlichting
tags 642136 - patch
thanks

Unfortunately, things are a little more complicated, as Michael was so
kind to explain to me on IRC. I'm trying to sum up our conversation:

GENERAL PROBLEMS
- when changing the default for new connections in one client
(nm-applet), other clients should be changed accordingly. This means
at least gnome-shell (KDE may use different defaults anyway)
- in addition to wifi connections, also VPN and mobile broadband
  connections should be user-administrateable
- a system-wide connection has advantages, and upstream changed the
default for a reason / in response to user feedback. E.g. it is not
unreasonable to expect to be able to ssh into a running laptop, even
  when there's nobody logged in.

MY PATCH SPECIFICALLY
- in the interest of a minimal patch, marking the connection
  user-private *and* all secrets agent-owned is unnecessary;
user-private is enough. The two are orthogonal really: marking secrets
agent-owned determines whether the wifi password is stored in the
/etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ file or handled by the
user's polkit authentication agent, whereas the user-private setting
  determines whether NetworkManager.settings.modify.system privileges
are necessary and anybody but the current user can see the connection.

OPTIONS FOR A SOLUTION OF #642136
- do not change the default for new connections (system-wide), but add a
polkit rule allowing members of the netdev and sudo groups to modify
those connections. Group sudo can do everything anyway, and netdev is
specifically meant for that. In addition, the user created during
installation is automatically added to the netdev group, so that this
would solve the "annoying password prompt" issue for the
single-user-laptop case. The polkit rule would look like this:

[Adding or changing system-wide NetworkManager connections]
Identity=unix-group:netdev;unix-group:sudo
Action=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager.settings.modify.system
ResultAny=no
ResultInactive=no
ResultActive=yes

- this leaves open multi-user machines, where ordinary users should be
able to e.g. add their home wifi, without being given the additional
privileges that come with group membership (e.g., seeing the other
guy's home wifi password). Think managed laptop repeatedly borrowed to
students. Here, the system administrator could install a
gsettings-override (provided in examples) that would make user-private
connections the default. The gsetting would have to be added, as well
as code to check it and switch to user-private when configured.

- personally, I'd prefer if things would "just work", that is: a
user-private connection is created automatically if the user is not
entitled to create a system-wide one, without the need to find out
about a gsetting and install the override. Unfortunately, it is
unclear if there is a way to query polkit whether the user would need
to be asked for a password in order to execute an action with the
  NetworkManager.settings.modify.system privilege, without actually
doing so.¹ An alternative would be to assume the existence of the above
polkit rule and check the user's group memberships (getgid), but that
approach is ugly because it hard-codes what is really just a default
policy, and it may require the user to re-login in order for changes
in group membership to take effect.

¹ there is a flag to polkit_authority_check_authorization to
AllowUserInteraction, which is meant e.g. to decide whether a UI
element should be displayed in an inactive style. This is exposed in
nm_auth_chain_add_call.

Would the above polkit rule plus an automatic switch to user-private
connections solve this issue for all conceiveable use cases? What about
users who would have to type the root password, but are able and in fact
expect to do so? There's always nm-connection-editor to turn a
user-private connection into a system-wide one...

too tired to not be confused,
Florian

retitle 693472 emacsen-common: wrong compilation logic; only the last script in
dependency chains is actually compiled
thanks

Dear Rob,

I found the cause of the problem (at least for devscripts-el and emms;
the case of speechd-el seems more complex). In short, the logic in
emacs-package-install is wrong: the $script variable is not updated in
the $pkg loop (see the attached debdiff which makes it obvious). Hence
dependency chains are not correctly handled, because it is always the
last script in the chain that is called.

BTW, I found another problem: when processing the dependency chain of a
package, all the dependencies are processed as being old-style
(respectively new-style) if the calling package is old-style
(respectively new-style). In particular, if emacsen-common is processed
in the dependency chain of an old-style package, it is called with
flavor "emacs", and this in turn creates disastrous self-referencing
symlinks under /etc/emacs (I got this behaviour when testing my patch
against emms). Hence I fixed emacsen-common.{install,remove} to do
nothing when called with flavor "emacs". Since there seem to be no other
new-style package in Wheezy, I think this workaround is sufficient for
now. But for Jessie you probably need to refactor the logic of
emacsen-package-install so that each install script of a dependency
chain is called the right way.

I checked that the attached patch fixes the upgrade path from lenny for
devscripts-el and emms, hence I merged back these bugs.

I can do an NMU of the package, but of course a review is very much
welcome.

Cheers,

Bug#614873: Patch for UNIVERSAL->import

2012-12-08 Thread brian m. carlson
tags 614873 + patch
kthxbye

Attached is a patch that removes the import of UNIVERSAL altogether and
changes the uses of isa to use the eval { $ref->isa('Foo') } form
recommended by the documentation. Also fixed is the following warning
exposed by the testsuite:

Use of qw(...) as parentheses is deprecated at
/tmp/libuser-simple-perl-1.43/blib/lib/User/Simple/Admin.pm line 341.

Importing the two modules now occurs silently.

Bug#388141: www.debian.org relicensing - advice on public call

2012-12-08 Thread Stefano Zacchiroli
On Sun, Oct 21, 2012 at 05:34:36PM +0200, Stefano Zacchiroli wrote:
> Hi Bradley, I'm getting back to you about the above as in Debian we're
> now ready to finalize the relicensing of www.debian.org ("www.d.o" for

Brief status update on this, after a brief off-list mail exchange with
Bradley. He has kindly confirmed his willingness to help (thanks!), but
he is very busy with work at Software Freedom Conservancy for the next 3
months at least. I note this down here, so that others might remember to
check back with him then, given that I'll probably forget about this :-)

In the meantime, he has pointed us to some "related work" we might learn
from, the Squeak relicensing that the developer communities conducted
following Bradley's advice. The best reference I've found about that
effort is http://www.netjam.org/squeak/contributors/ , but according to
this and other comments by Bradley it looks like we are on good track:

- we have already contacted all the contributors and heard back from
  quite a number of them

- then, we will need a list of website "lines" that are: 1/ still
active, and 2/ for which we do *not* have received permission to
relicence. (It's not clear to me if we have this already or not; can
  someone clarify?)

- once we have the above (and assuming those lines are not
renounce-able), we might want to ask lawyer advice to verify if the
lines in question are copyrightable. Once we have the set of lines in
question, I can look into that with the help of SPI lawyers

- at that point we might do a public call announcing we are going to
relicense and ask if anyone have issues with it

Somewhat orthogonally to the above, I think it wouldn't hurt having a
public place where we keep track of the process. David (or anyone else
who has followed this closely) would it be feasible/easy to have, say, a
subpage of http://www.debian.org/license, where we keep up to date all
the info we have about the ongoing relicensing?

Thank again to Bradley for the help thus far, which has already been
quite useful!

Cheers.

Bug#695481: sshfs: requires (u)nscd if local user is in LDAP

2012-12-08 Thread Burkhard Bunk

Package: sshfs
Version: 2.2-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

sshfs :

results in an error:

fusermount: failed to open /etc/fuse.conf: Permission denied
fusermount: mount failed: Operation not permitted

_if_ the local user is in LDAP and there is no cache daemon running.

Although this report was generated in a i386 installation, it applies
to amd64 as well.
The problem is _not_ related to the permissions of /dev/fuse (e.g. "user
not in group fuse").

As a workaround, install nscd or unscd.

Analysis of this problem was tedious.
It should be fixed upstream (I guess).
Meanwhile, a hint in README.Debian would be appropriate.

Maybe the sshfs package should recommend/suggest (u)nscd?

Regards,
Burkhard Bunk.

Bug#695479: magit: Please package upstream release 1.2.0

Hi,

Thanks for the wish. However, as we are currently in freeze I don't feel
like uploading new upstream versions right now. Did you hit any other
issues when you made your local packaging?

Bug#695479: magit: Please package upstream release 1.2.0

2012-12-08 Thread Davide G. M. Salvetti
Package: magit
Version: 1.2.0-local.1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

As a quick hack to roll my own local version I applied the attached
patches; I do not endorse them in any way, as I did not have time to
study upstream changes, I just provide them here for convenience; they
seem to work for me, but YMMV.

Bug#695480: libreoffice: opening a file should not block the whole application

2012-12-08 Thread Toni Mueller
Package: libreoffice
Version: 1:3.5.4+dfsg-4
Severity: minor
Tags: upstream

Dear Maintainer,

I frequently work with foreign files of the MSO variety, and opening
them can easily take a lot of time (> 1 minute). I would much prefer
to not wait until the file is completely read, but instead work on
a different file that I already have open in the meantime. But every
time I open a file, the whole application blocks until loading has
finished.

Kind regards,
--Toni++

Bug#695478: mr record does not work correctly for hg with no commit message

2012-12-08 Thread Simon Heath
Package: mr
Version: 1.12
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
When attempting to use 'mr record' on a Mercurial repo, it issues the -m
flag to hg whether or not 'mr record' got the -m flag. hg does not like
this, since it does not get a commit message, and fails with an error.

Additionally, if you give mr a commit message via -m, such as
'mr record -m foo', it gets a little weird. It still works correctly
but if there are no changes hg ends up issuing the error message
"abort: foo: No such file or directory", instead of the usual "nothing
changed". This is fairly deceptive, since it looks like something is
going wrong when in fact it is not.

Oddly, if you omit the -m and just give "mr record foo", on unchanged
repos it reports the usual "nothing changed" instead of giving that
error, and works fine on changed repos as well.

I tested mr 1.13 as well and it appears to have the same behavior.
I haven't tested whether/how this works with 'mr commit'.

Thank you,
Simon Heath

I apt-get removed octave-java, and the problem disappeared.
This is a weird fix but I'm very very happy that it works!

Many thanks for the quick and helpful response.

IMO, the correct way to deal with this is to prepare an upload of clang
3.0-7 (currently in testing is 3.0-6) which includes *ONLY* the fix
necessary for closing this bugreport. I have looked at both versions
(3.0-6 and 3.2~rc3), but I can’t say for sure which change it is.

Afterwards, generate a debdiff between clang_3.0-6.dsc and
clang_3.0-7.dsc and attach it to this bugreport, asking the release
team for approval to upload it to testing-proposed-updates.

It has been pointed out to me that I should provide a debdiff of my

Do you approve this upload to t-p-u?

I confirm on amd64, but only with the octave-java package installed

Not at all. The smb.conf should just be updated to look in /run, there's no
reason to carry a symlink here.

I see dpkg-gensymbols being called here, so I guess I either don't
understand the problem or I how this is an issue with dpkg-dev. Does
calling dpkg-gensymbols directly not generate the symbols file? Or
was this meant as a support request on debhelper, perhaps?

(I see dh_makeshlibs will remove empty output symbols files, for
example.)

Bug#695470: gpodder lost preferences after upgrade

I'll look into it. Thank you for the bug report!

Version 3.x of gPodder uses a slighty different database format. In order
to avoid doing the one-time conversion automatically and thereby breaking
the ability to go back to 2.x, the coversion has to be done manually.

gPodder 3 includes a utility for that: gpodder-migrate2tres

So to get your data migrated to the new version:

  1. Install gPodder 3
  2. Run gpodder-migrate2tres
  3. Run gPodder 3

Be aware that after migrating your database to version 3, you cannot go
back to version 2, so be sure to make a backup of your gPodder 2 data in
case you might want to use it again in the future.

Thomas

Installing xserver-xorg-video-ati does fix this. It then correctly
autodetects the hardware and uses the radeon driver. The odd
behaviour with the fallback vesa/fb driver is still a bit buggy
though.

Please feel free to reassign to a more appropriate package if
necessary, e.g. SDL, X, kernel. And I'll be happy to provide
any further detail if needed.

2012-12-08 Thread Nicholas Humfrey
Package: ruby-build

Dear Maintainer,

I have been trying to use 'rbenv install' as part of an automated process,
however I have found that it returns an exit status of 1, even if the build
was successful. I would have expected it to be 0.

Here is an example run:
njh@star:~$ rbenv install 1.9.3-p194Downloading
http://pyyaml.org/download/libyaml/yaml-0.1.4.tar.gz...
Installing yaml-0.1.4...
Installed yaml-0.1.4 to /home/njh/.rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p194
Downloading http://ftp.ruby-lang.org/pub/ruby/1.9/ruby-1.9.3-p194.tar.gz...
Installing ruby-1.9.3-p194...
Installed ruby-1.9.3-p194 to /home/njh/.rbenv/versions/1.9.3-p194
njh@star:~$ echo $?
1

I have also tried running it in verbose mode, but there is nothing to indicate
that any part of the build was unsuccessful.

Indeed, the Jenkins job is doing upgrade before dist-upgrade.

Holger,

a) Can you confirm Recommends are disabled during this test?
(the output seems to indicate this, but I'm unsure)

b) How about adding a job that does the dist-upgrade without doing the
   upgrade first?

c) How about adding a job with Recommends set to the opposite of the
   current one?

(Will all possible combinations, that would make 2*2 = 4 times more
tests, but I gather the CPU cores are idle, so...)

Andreas: you expressed some interest in this issue, so perhaps you
might want to replicate these combinations in your piuparts tests too.

Thank you very much for this; it puts the issue into perspective. I'm
very conscious of the work which is put into Debian by many people and
was trying not increase the load by promoting a software solution, not
that I have anything significant to contribute in that area. I will try
to bear your dictum in mind (which does not guarantee I will not forget
it) for future contributions.

Bug#695472: samba: cups smb:// printers broken after upgrading server to wheezy

2012-12-08 Thread Santiago Vila
Package: samba
Version: 2:3.6.6-3
Severity: serious

After upgrading a printer server from squeeze to wheezy, I could no
longer print from a client already running wheezy using the smb
protocol.

To reproduce this I installed minimal squeeze and wheezy systems under
QEMU/KVM and did the following in both of them:

apt-get install cups cups-pdf samba samba-common-bin
adduser --gecos "B. L. User" --disabled-password bluser
smbpasswd -a bluser (passwd: abc)

That was the server part.

The client was my wheezy personal computer and it had a printer
pointing to the "PDF" virtual printer using the usual smb mechanism:

DeviceURI smb://bluser:abc@qemu/PDF

This printer was configured as a "Generic PDF printer".

The result:

* It works out of the box if the server is running squeeze.
* It does not work at all if the server is running wheezy.

In both cases the smb.conf file was the default.

By using snapshot.debian.org, I was able to determine that this works:

deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/2028/ sid main contrib
samba 2:3.5.11~dfsg-4 cups-pdf 2.6.1-3 cups 1.5.0-12

and this does not work:

deb http://snapshot.debian.org/archive/debian/2029/ sid main contrib
samba 2:3.6.1-2 cups-pdf 2.6.1-3 cups 1.5.0-12

[ Note: The samba packages are the ones that changed from 2028 to 2029
and that's the reason why this report is against samba, but of course,
I could be wrong here ].

Trying to downgrade to samba 2:3.5.11~dfsg-4 didn't work because of
Bug#650541 (kerberos related link error).

Another thing which I tried was to install all the recommends in the server:

apt-get install --fix-policy --install-recommends

but nothing changed.

Then I set "log level = 3" and searched for this error message:

[2012/12/08 16:39:45.167182, 3]
rpc_server/spoolss/srv_spoolss_nt.c:1904(_spoolss_OpenPrinterEx)
  access DENIED for printer open

and finally found a fix here:

http://www.df.lth.se/~jokke/samba_printer.php

which is to put this option in smb.conf:

[printers]
  use client driver = yes

It is likely that this fix is not a good fix for everybody and I'm
not even sure that this is a bug in samba, but I really believe that
cups-pdf should work out of the box in wheezy, hence the serious
severity.

Of course, feel free to downgrade or reassign as appropriate.

If this may not be fixed properly I would appreciate that it's
documented in /usr/share/doc/samba/NEWS.Debian.gz or any other
suitable place (like wheezy release notes).

Thanks.

Bug#695471: unblock: bootchart2/0.14.4-2

2012-12-08 Thread David Paleino
Package: release.debian.org
Severity: normal
User: release.debian@packages.debian.org
Usertags: unblock

Hello RT,
I just uploaded bootchart2/0.14.4-2 to unstable. This upload fixes RC bug
#694403 -- the package shipped a systemd unit, but no "classic" initscript.

I'm attaching a git diff -- please note that this is a particular initscript,
since starting it effectively *stops* the daemon -- and that's why it's
started after all the other services (i.e. stop collecting boot info as soon as
all other initscripts did their job).

  unblock bootchart2/0.14.4-2

Thanks,
David

Hi,

thank you for the hint and the patch. Now the dirmngr start script works
fine.

Regarding your comment to the echo command I have analized my scripts in
/etc/profile.d/. But I don't found any echo command. :(

Nevertheless I have detected the "bad" script /etc/profile.d/.
It was my own script to remove the beep on the console.
It contains only this one line:
/usr/bin/setterm -blength 0

Kind regards,
Detlev

You're welcome. However, I realized there is a problem with my fix
which is the fact the dirmngr is now run as root instead as the user
"dirmngr" (that's what the su -c was for, I didn't realize it in the
moment I wrote the patch). So will have to rework the patch a bit.

That was just an example. It can be anything which creates output to
stdout, I suppose.

I am not very sure why this would be a problem. This doesn't generate
any output by default. But you might have changed the verbosity of
your shell at some place (e.g. bash -v).

Yeah, I already got a heads-up in the unblock request I wrote
(#695426). I wasn't aware of unblocks that don't have an unblock
request associated with it.

Sorry for the noise.

Even though I thought I had implied this there may be some element of
imprecision in my expression. I was also trying not to be too specific
about which missing firmware might not be detected. Is this any better?

The installer only prompts for firmware needed by kernel
modules loaded during the installation. Not all drivers are
included in d-i (in particular radeon is not) so . . .

Would a user employing the search terms have some chance of discovering
a lack of firmware on an installed system?

libqt4-dbus used to ship both the library and qdbus, an application. As part
of the multiarchification of Qt4, they needed to become separate packages.

> What happens the day libQtDBus changes SONAME?

It will not in wheezy. And we are already working in a proper transition for
stuff that currently depends on libqt4-dbus just because they actually need
qdbus.

So for Jessie we will eliminate libqtdbus4. And, by the way we mangled the
symbols files, no package should depend on libqtdbus4 ever (symbols point to
libqt4-dbus).

Kinds regards, Lisandro.

Bug#695467: Horgand too short buffer

2012-12-08 Thread Dr. David Alan Gilbert
Package: horgand
Version: 1.14-4

This started as Ubuntu bug:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horgand/+bug/891939

There's a strcpy of an 11 char string (+nil) into a 10 char fixed array;
that on Ubuntu's Fortify build causes it to seg at startup.

I've got a fix below for it; that I think is safe (it certainly
gets past the seg), but for me I'm hitting problems with it not being
able to open the (hard coded) alsa device.

There are further places in the code that aggregate this length onto
other strings into other fixed sized buffers that look safe; but
given the number of fixed length buffers I wouldn't be surprised
if there are further issues.

When I looked through the list of bugreports I was searching for a
segfault. I noticed that this may be a broken dependency only while
writing the bug report. Afterwards I noticed that this is the same
issue as described in http://bugs.debian.org/618890.

Merging the bug accordingly.

Nevertheless I urge to fix this issue, because I suspect it'll make
more users being annoyed and the reasons for this close-to-broken
dependency choice are only mentioned in the above bug report and not
in the README.Debian.

I confirm on amd64, but only with the octave-java package installed
and loaded. If I run octave with --norc it does not segfault. If I
apt-get remove octave-java, it no longer crashes. Can you both try
again without octave-java installed?

Bug#695465: flightgear: Segfaults on startup: Failed to load object Models/Geometry/container_carrier.ac (Recommends vs Depends?)

2012-12-08 Thread Axel Beckert
Package: flightgear
Version: 2.6.0-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

without any specific configuration (but used one or two times before
with IIRC 2.4.x), fgfs segfaults on startup:

$ fgfs
fgfs: Version mismatch in 'svn_client': found 1.6.17, expected 1.7.5
fgfs: Version mismatch in 'svn_subr': found 1.6.17, expected 1.7.5
Failed to initialize built-in SVN client, error = 1
Failed to load file: "Models/Aircraft/marker.xml"
KI266 dme indicator #0 initialized
loading scenario 'nimitz_demo'
creating 3D noise texture... DONE
Failed to load object Models/Geometry/container_carrier.ac
[1]8466 segmentation fault fgfs
$

The syslog has additional information:

Dec 8 16:46:17 c-crosser kernel: [753648.008126] fgfs[8569] segfault at 0 ip
7fa310b18264 sp 7fa2f2759690 error 4 in
libSimGearScene.so.2.6.0[7fa3109cf000+229000]

Be aware that I don't have fgfs-models-base installed due to size
constraints and because its just recommend but no hard
dependency. Installing fgfs-models-base solves the issue.

Additionally fgfs refuses to start if the also only recommended
fgfs-aircraft-base is not installed:

$ fgfs
Cannot find specified aircraft: c172p
Config option parsing failed ...
$

So either these recommended packages are actually hard requirements, or
the default configuration is broken in the sense that it expect the only
recommended packages to be installed.

In any case, it should not segfault.

Since I suspect there are ways to get fgfs working without these
additional packages as fgfs-base's description says "This package
contains graphics, sounds, models, and the minimum scenery you need to
start Flight Gear", I'm not filing this as RC despite I consider it
being quite close to a policy violation.

Nevertheless, I couldn't find direction on necessary configuration
changes to get fgfs working without the recommended packages on a first
glance. If additional configuration is indeed necessary for this, they
should be either documented in /usr/share/doc/flightgear/README.Debian
or there should be a hint about their location in there.

(This bug report contains multiple issues which I suspect can be solved
by the same change. If you consider the segfault itself a separate
issue, feel free to clone and retitle this bug report.)

Indeed. Currently the software mainly uses debtags as heuristics to
determine if a package would be an interesting target for having
screenshots assigned. I'm open to ideas. After all the web site will
have to support other distributions (DEB or RPM) as well and I'm not
sure whether they have something similar to debtags.

Bug#695434: octave: Seg fault in __contourc__

2012-12-08 Thread Rafael Laboissiere

* pierre.st-laur...@uqar.ca  [2012-12-08 14:06]:

Ok, I saved the array in a .mat file and attached it to this email.
I can trigger the code every time by starting a fresh octave session and typing:

load array.mat; % Provides array z of size 469x760
ii = 1:size (z,2); % From contourc.m
jj = 1:size (z,1); % From contourc.m
c = __contourc__ (ii, jj, z, [500 500]); % will seg fault
%c = __contourc__ (ii, jj, z, [1000 1000]); % will work fine

The last line shows that the behavior depends on the actual contour level requested.
500 cause seg fault, but 1000 is fine. The same instruction works all the time on my other laptop that has squeeze.

Thank you for the data and the code. I can confirm the bug on amd64, but
it does not happen on i386. This is probably an upstream bug, but may
also be related to something architecture-dependent we do for building
the package. @Sébastien: could you take a look at this, please?

In effect, is what you are requesting like this:

- “Manually-Installed-Suggests” will keep an auto-installed package;
- “Suggests” will not keep an auto-installed package;

?

Marking the suggested package as auto does not provide the level of
control you request, or do I miss something?

Still nothing with lxc 0.8.0-5 and live-debconfig 4.0~a11-1 and a
re-created container.

I have uploaded to DELAYED/10 an NMU fixing this bug. The debdiff is
attached. Don't hesitate to tell me if I should delay the upload longer,
or to cancel it if you spot anything wrong.

This one needs more details because I don't know what it's trying to
fix, and what impact it has. Also there's a change to readme.debian
which is not listed in the changelog.

Bug#695464: live-debconfig: Selecting multiple scripts in the System Configuration dialog fails

2012-12-08 Thread Mike Hommey
Package: live-debconfig
Version: 4.0~a11-1
Severity: important

It fails with the message:
  /bin/live-debconfig: 171: /bin/live-debconfig:
/lib/live/debconfig/0010-hostname,: not found

Note the comma.

It does work when only selecting one script.
