Bug#700076: [Pkg-ime-devel] Bug#700076: Bug#700076: Bug#700076: Bug#700076: ibus: non-functional, setup breaks
Hi Aron, one more bug I found ... iceweasel/firefox ignores the current ibus plugin. It works in sakura/gnome-term etc, but not in iceweasel. It really seems that this ibus 1.5 was not tested *at*all*??? Bug#698527: elmer: executable ElmerGUI.real links with both GPL-licensed and GPL-incompatible libraries
Hi, Ah, I misinterpreted your question: I thought you meant writing to oce-dev in order to persuade them to re-license. You instead meant writing to oce-dev in order to find other people willing to help to persuade Open CASCADE S.A.S. to re-license. Yes, it is my fault. You seem to have a better personal connection with OCE developers than me (I didn't even know the address of their mailing list...). And you showed a good summarizing skill in http://dev.opencascade.org/index.php?q=node/525 On the other hand, I am going through really difficult days (actually months...) and I am afraid I won't be able to follow up quickly to any response (as this very late reply shows!). It is not a problem. This is not the IRC, real-time communication is not required. You can write comment at forum [1] or send email to mailing list [2] when you have a spare time. Could you please get in touch with oce-dev participants and search for help? I began a thread [2] in their mailing list recently. Everybody can reply into it. And I do not think that extra messages are needed from my side. Bug#698809: Debian Reportbug simply quits in 80% of all cases
Package: reportbug Version: 6.4.3 Followup-For: Bug #698809 Dear Maintainer, I have found this problem in report-bugs graphical interface (python-vte). I found it in debian wheezy, and debian-sid. I'm not sure if this is still 80% I haven't tried enough to test that statistic, but it is a significant amount. For example, when trying to report the package software-properties-gtk, it pulled up the list of bugs. My bug was not listed, so I clicked continue, and it just quit. I reproduced this again, so gave up trying to report it. I couldn't do anything to stop this happening. It happens at different stages in the reporting process with different programmes. Bug#700380: menu: software-properties-gtk does not show up in the menus
Package: menu Version: 2.1.46 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I was trying to open software sources, or software-properties-gtk. It was not in the menu in gnome-shell or lxde or gnome classic. However, it was installed, as I could open it two different ways. I could open /etc/apt/sources.list, or I could run software-properties-gtk. I would have thought this should be in the main menu. The solution was to open main menu, and to add an item called software sources with the command software-properties-gtk. I was not sure weather I should file this bug against menu or against software- properties-gtk, but reportbug crashed when I tried to file it against software- properties-gtk. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages menu depends on: ii dpkg 1.16.9 ii install-info 4.13a.dfsg.1-10 ii libc6 2.13-38 ii libgcc1 1:4.7.2-5 ii libstdc++64.7.2-5 menu recommends no packages. Bug#700381: r-base-core: please ship md5sums for all files
Package: r-base-core Version: 2.15.2-1 Severity: important Tags: patch Hi, r-base-core excludes several files from md5sum computation. According to the changelog this dates back to 1999 (the bug is no longer available in the BTS) to work around some files being modified in some way or another. But I cannot reproduce any such modification with a fresh installation of current R. Therefore I'm attaching a patch that removes this legacy cruft and includes md5sums for all files in the future. Not shipping md5sums defeats the purpose of tools like debsums: checking for modifications by the local admin or due to hardware malfunction (network, memory, disk, ...). There is one file being modified in the postinst script: Renviron.ucf. That seems be be caused by some logic flaw originating from the time when the configuration file in /etc was modified directly: ## test if the file is unmodified `as shipped' Renviron.ucf will be unmodified everytime (except when running dpkg-reconfigure r-base-core), so the correct workflow for the postinst should be something like mktemp ; sed ; ucf ; rm (generate default config from template in a temporary file, install this via ucf, clean up afterwards). Bug#700385: Either fix automatic hosts cache invalidation or add resolvconf update script to invalidate the hosts cache
Package: nscd Version: 2.13-38 Severity: normal When resolvconf is installed it updates the resolver configuration file resolv.conf as needed. (It actually writes to /run/resolvconf/resolv.conf to which /etc/resolv.conf is a symbolic link.) When nscd is running and the hosts cache is enabled and resolv.conf changes, the hosts cache needs to be invalidated, but this does not currently happen. I discovered this while running nscd with the hosts cache enabled. I connected to a VPN whose internal nameservers resolve certain domain names differently from external nameservers: external nameservers resolve the name to the IP address of the company's reverse proxy whereas the internal nameservers resolve it to an internal IP address. After I connected to the VPN my resolv.conf file was updated by resolvconf such that the VPN nameserver was listed first, but nscd continued to supply the old external IP address out of its cache. Same problem again on disconnecting from the VPN. I would have expected that nscd would invalidate its hosts cache automatically when resolv.conf changed. I thought that this was the point of the patch discussed here: http://www.eglibc.org/archives/patches/msg00977.html which I believe has been integrated into Debian and Ubuntu nscd. But experimentation proves that nscd does *not* invalid its hosts cache when resolv.conf changes... at least, not under the circumstances described above. If nscd is supposed to invalidate its hosts cache when resolv.conf changes then please fix the bug which causes this not to happen under the circumstances described above. If it is not the intent to include that functionality in nscd, then please add a resolvconf update script that invalidates the hosts cache when resolv.conf is changed by resolvconf. I would suggest that this be implemented in two parts. First, add a new invalidate-hosts method to the initscript which invalidates the hosts cache, making use of nscd's --invalidate option. Then include a file named /etc/resolvconf/update-libc.d/000nscd in the nscd package with the following content. #!/bin/sh [ -x /etc/init.d/nscd ] /etc/init.d/nscd invalidate-hosts The code in the initscript could look something like the following. invalidate-hosts) log_daemon_msg Invalidating hosts cache of $DESC status || nscd --invalidate hosts case $? in 0) log_end_msg 0 ; exit 0 ;; *) log_failure_msg (failed) ; exit 1 ;; esac ;; Should you implement this, please Suggest resolvconf (= 1.70) and Conflict with resolvconf ( 1.70), since those older versions of resolvconf restarted nscd if resolv.conf changed and nscd had the hosts cache enabled. -- Thomas Hood

Bug#677517: minetest 0.4 unstable version
I have made the changes that you recommended so I'll just comment on a couple of things below. - Just wondering, does minetest 0.4.x actually still build with libirrlicht-dev 1.7 in unstable? I tested the current version of minetest in unstable when I uploaded irrlicht 1.8 to experimental, and it ended up with a FTBFS (bug #693277). If minetest 0.4.x requires irrlicht 1.8 rather than 1.7.x, please bump the build-depends on libirrlicht-dev to (= 1.8). Yes, minetest 0.4 builds correctly with both libirrlicht-dev 1.7 and 1.8 - This is more just an opinion than anything else, but I don't really think it's necessary to split the game data into minetest-game-minimal and minetest-game-full. In debian/control, -minimal and -full are always listed together in the package relationships (there's no distinction between the two packages amongst the various relationships between all the binary packages), and both packages are already quite small in size. I just don't see any advantages to splitting them up that offsets the added complexity to the source package. I had kept them in separate packages because upstream also keeps them separate but I suppose now that I actually think about it, putting them both in minetest-data is the more sensible idea. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#700380: menu: software-properties-gtk does not show up in the menus

I was not sure weather I should file this bug against menu or against software- properties-gtk, but reportbug crashed when I tried to file it against software- properties-gtk. software-properties-gtk does not provide a Debian menu entry so there is no way it will happen in the Debian menu. On the other hand it provides a .desktop file so it should appear in gnome-shell. So I reassign the bug to software-properties-gtk. Hi again! On Sat, Jan 26, 2013 at 10:07 AM, Sergei Golovan sgolo...@nes.ru wrote: expectk has two reverse dependencies in squeeze: exmh (suggests) xsmbrowser (depends). Both are removed from wheezy and sid. Currently, update expect from squeeze (5.44.1.15-4) to wheezy (5.45-2) goes silently, leaving expectk broken (/usr/bin/expectk fails to run with the following message: /usr/bin/expectk: error while loading shared libraries: libexpect.so.5.44.1.15: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory). If exmh is installed it continues working, though I'm not sure if somewhere deep exmh will not try to run no more working expectk. xsmbrowser fails immediately with the same message as expectk (bug #686364). Dist-upgrade to proposed 5.45-3 removes expectk and xsmbrowser (if they are installed). It's a desirable behavior as neither package works with expect 5.45-*. exmh stays and runs. I didn't try full upgrate from squeeze to wheezy, just these four packages (expect, expectk, xambrowser, exmh) in wheezy. I think that the proposed 5.45-3 behaves better than 5.45-2 on upgrade. Bug#700399: vulnerable to CRIME SSL attack (CVE-2012-4929)
Package: lighttpd Version: 1.4.28-2+squeeze1 Severity: grave Tags: security Hi, lighttpd in squeeze is vulnerable to the SSL attack CVE-2012-4929 dubbed 'CRIME'. The attack is related to SSL compression. The popular solution to the attack is to disable SSL compression. This is what Apache has done and also lighttpd upstream: the issue is addressed in wheezy and above because lighttpd disables SSL compression at compile time. There's an upstream issue here http://redmine.lighttpd.net/issues/2445. I believe a good approach would be to follow what was done in later releases and port the compile time check for SSL compression to the version in squeeze. Bug#700409: release.debian.org: wheezy-ignore tag for RC bug #700398 in ocl-icd
Package: release.debian.org Severity: normal Hi, #700398 is a FTBFS (one failing test) of my ocl-icd package in unstable. Due to the freeze, ocl-icd is the same in unstable and testing (1.3-3) So, technically speaking, ocl-icd 1.3-3 in wheezy has a grave bug and should be fixed or removed. However: - the FTBFS is due to opencl-headers in unstable (1.2-2012.11.30-2) that have more functions than in wheezy (1.2-2012.04.18a-1) - ocl-icd correctly fixes its failing test in 2.0.2 (just uploaded to experimental) but this new upstream version has too many changes (lots of code refactorization since 1.3) to be accpeted in wheezy - ocl-icd does not FTBFS in a plain wheezy environment The last point make me think that it would be better to tag this bug wheezy-ignore. Do you agree? The other possibilities I see are to downgrade the severity or fix the ocl-icd package in unstable by desactivating the failing test. Bug#699892: Seeking advice on Pan license issue with optional TLS component
Hello Here's a summary of the issue for debian-legal folks. Pan package on Debian got bug #699892 because Pan GPLv2 only is linked with gnutls LGPLv3, which is not permitted by FSF. Pan folks are willing to re-license Pan to GPLv2 and later. But getting copyright owner authorisation for all software components copied into Pan is a big problem: there's no obvious contact for some of these components. Reading http://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#MereAggregation, I think we may not need to re-license all components of pan code. Pan is made of several part. Some parts like uulib or e-*-dialog.c are integrated in Pan by source code copy. Other parts like gnutls are integrated with dynamic linking (optionaly). To respect the license terms, I think we need to check the compatibility between parts when the parts are actually working together (i.e. some data is exchanged directly between these 2 components). I.e. we need to check that: - Pan license is compatible with gnutls license - Pan license is compatible with e-*-dialog.c (and others) but we don't need to ensure that e-*dialog.c license is compatible with gnutls license because these 2 parts work independently (well, I think so, you Pan guys should be able to confirm easily). If I'm right, Pan maintainers only need to re-license Pan parts. Since this is the first time I'm dealing with a trciky licensing issue, I'd like some folks from debian-legal mailing list to confirm my opinion. Bug#700411: git-buildpackage: git-import-orig should filter the upstream debian directory
Package: git-buildpackage Version: 0.6.0~git20121124 Severity: normal git-import-orig will happily import upstream tarballs that contain a debian directory and when the upstream debian dir changes, git-import-orig will try to merge those changes in the real debian packaging available on the master branch. In the best case, it fails, in the worst case it leads to indesirable changes. I tried to work-around this problem with --filter='debian/*' but there's no safe pattern to use... because this one will also strip src/plugins/debian from the upstream tarball and we don't really want this by default. So I would suggest that git-import-orig should automatically remove the top-level debian directory when it does its work. I'm not sure how git-import-dsc behaves in the same situation but it should probably adjust its behaviour depending on the source format. With 3.0 (quilt), you want this behaviour since the debian directory is always coming from a separate tarball and thus both debian directories are entirely unrelated. With 3.0 (native) you want to keep the debian directory because it only exists in the upstream tarball. With 1.0 it depends... -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.0 APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.7-trunk-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=fr_FR.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=fr_FR.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages git-buildpackage depends on: ii devscripts 2.12.6 ii git 1:1.7.10.4-2 ii python 2.7.3-4 ii python-dateutil 1.5+dfsg-0.1 Versions of packages git-buildpackage recommends: ii cowbuilder0.71 ii pristine-tar 1.26 Versions of packages git-buildpackage suggests: ii python-notify 0.1.1-3 ii unzip 6.0-8 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. The list server works better if you remove anything which is not required for it to work. What you are proposing, essentially, is that we adapt the size to the sum of all known netiquette mistakes. Bug#700287: [neverball] French: Save Replay translated to Sauver un film
Hi, I'm mym, I did most Neverball French translations. I do agree on the meaning of words sauver and enregistrer. The latter fits better. The reason I preferred sauver and film over other words is because they are short which better fits with the GUI. Now I'm not sure that point really matters. I would now prefer a better meaning. However the word reprise sounds weird to me. The word replay can also be used in French and I haven't found any satisfying translation. mym 2013/2/11 Filipus Klutiero chea...@gmail.com: Package: neverball Version: 1.5.4-5 Severity: minor Tags: l10n upstream X-Debbugs-Cc: debian-l10n-fre...@lists.debian.org X-Debbugs-Cc: mehdi.you...@gmail.com After a ball is lost or a level completed, the player can save a replay or continue to the next level. The first button is labelled Save Replay in English, or Sauver un film in French. I think the translation will be understood by most, but it's not great. Sauver un film is related to the translations Film (Replay), Films (Replay) and many others: https://s.snth.net/svn/neverball/trunk/po/fr.po I do not consider Film as a great translation of Replay. Film generally doesn't mean replay, and I do not remember seeing film used in that sense except in Neverball. Reprise may be a better translation, but film is found in many strings. However, I think sauver is more problematic. Save can be translated to sauver in certain cases as in Save someone from a certain death, but it isn't always a proper translation. In this case, it is considered as an anglicism. Enregistrer is preferred: http://gdt.oqlf.gouv.qc.ca/ficheOqlf.aspx?Id_Fiche=26508220#eng Enregister le film would be an improvement. Forwarding this report upstream would be most welcome, I simply couldn't manage to open a ticket there (I can't see how to create a Trac account). -- Mehdi Yousfi-Monod -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. As a Debian Developer for 10 years, it would be nice to be listed here. I have a similar situation, but we are actually listed there, just with outdated information that I've been trying to correct for a long time. Is there anything that can be done in order to help this move forward? Can this maybe be moved to the Debian wiki instead? Bug#700418: kdump-tools: default debug kernel search path is incorrect
Package: kdump-tools Version: 1.3.5-1 Severity: normal In /usr/share/doc/kdump-tools/README.Debian the following text appears: 4. Debug Kernel You *should* have a debug kernel in order for makedumpfile to process the vmcore file. Without a debug kernel, the transfer process is reduced to using makedumpfile -d 1. Options: A) If /usr/lib/debug/vmlinux-$(uname -r) exists, kdump-tools will use that kernel. B) Explicitly set DEBUG_KERNEL in /etc/default/kdump-tools to point to your debug kernel. C) None of the above. makedumpfile will still work, but your dumpfile will be larger and take longer to save to disk. However all (?) the default -dbg Debian kernel packages put the kernels in /usr/lib/debug/boot/: http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/amd64/linux-image-2.6.32-5-amd64-dbg/filelisthttp://packages.debian.org/squeeze/amd64/linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64-dbg/filelist http://packages.debian.org/squeeze-backports/amd64/linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64-dbg/filelist http://packages.debian.org/wheezy/amd64/linux-image-3.2.0-4-amd64-dbg/filelist IMHO it would make sense to change (A) so that things worked automagically. If someone had a truly custom kernel, then tweaking DEBUG_KERNEL per (B) would make sense, but the 'standard' Debian tools should work with the standard Debian kernels. The other options would be to remove the boot/ from the debug kernel path. -- System Information: Debian Release: 6.0.1 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64 (SMP w/24 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=C, LC_CTYPE=C (charmap=ANSI_X3.4-1968) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages kdump-tools depends on: ii kexec-tools 1:2.0.1-4 kexec tool for kexec reboots ii makedumpfile 1.3.5-1VMcore extraction tool kdump-tools recommends no packages. kdump-tools suggests no packages. -- Configuration Files: /etc/default/kdump-tools changed [not included] -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Package: rake-compiler Version: 0.8.1-1 Severity: important I just stumbled upon applications which are listing the rake-compiler gem in their Gemfile. I have installed rake-compiler from the Debian repository but it's not recognized as a gem since it doesn't provide any Gem meta-information. Running gem2deb rake-compiler gives a package with the required files: ./usr/share/rubygems-integration/1.9.1/specifications/rake-compiler-0.8.2.gemspec ./usr/share/rubygems-integration/1.8/specifications/rake-compiler-0.8.2.gemspec So please include those files to achieve integration with rubygems. Bug#700420: bash: cd wrong error message in POSIX mode
Package: bash Version: 4.1-3 Severity: minor Hi, I have a bit unusual context: as root create # mkdir -p /foo/bar/baz and set # chmod go= /foo then # cd /foo/bar su $user -c '/bin/bash --posix' Now, as $user, who does not have permissions on /foo, but does on the current directory /foo/bar and subdir baz, I run (and get the error): $ cd baz bash: cd: baz: Not a directory Note that I _do_ expect an error message, but _not this one_. Instead e.g. dash reports: $ cd baz cd: 1: can't cd to baz It's maybe worth pointing out that this behaviour is only triggered when bash runs in POSIX mode, and thus defaults to using logical pathname resolution (option -L) as in the POSIX spec[1]. In non-POSIX mode, the 'cd baz' just works (which initially seemed to me to be a discrepancy in either bash or dash). Bug#700421: wdm shouldn't use /dev/mem
Package: wdm Version: 1.28-13 Severity: normal Tags: upstream patch Hi, this is my first bug report against a debian package so I very well might've missed something in the process - please excuse if so in advance. Here's the deal: wdm still uses /dev/mem in genauth.c to generate a tmp key and it shouldn't. The kernel currently allows userspace to read around 640K of /dev/mem for compatibility reasons with X, the abovementioned one being one of them. However, the modern way of getting random data is /dev/urandom and I've attached a patch below which converts wdm to do that. Patch is ontop of the master branch of git://git.debian.org/collab-maint/wdm.git and fixes the issue. Thanks. Bug#700338: unblock: imview/1.1.9c-11
On 2013-02-12 00:57:50, Sebastian Ramacher wrote: In the meanwhile I've also found some ics images in the libics source package. There is test/testim_c.ics and the corresponding .ids file. The thing is that I can't even open the file with the imview version from wheezy. With the patch imview fails differenctly but still doesn't display the image. If the sign of the representation in testim_c.isc is changed to signed, imview from wheezy is able to display the image. -11 fails to do so. So instead of fixing the ICS support I'd just drop it and if there is real interest in imview and the capability to read ICS files, the code should be rewritten to use libics instead. But that's clearly something for jessie. I'm sorry for this horrible patch. I'll prepare a new and hopefully much saner patch. Bug#700399: vulnerable to CRIME SSL attack (CVE-2012-4929)
tags 700399 +patch thanks Hi, Attached is a proposed update for squeeze-security to address this issue. Upstream's patch for client side renegotiation also fixed the SSL compression issue in the same commit. The SSL compression fix however only works with openssl = 1. Therefore, I had to backport another fix (the same one as used by Apache) to this version in a second patch. I didn't think it was worthwhile to remove upstream's fix from the renegotiation patch as it's a no-op on squeeze. I have not backported the commit that updates the example configuration file to add an example for the renegotiation option, as this would introduce a config file prompt in stable. I've built the package and we're currently running this on our test environment. It works fine. Also, all compliance tests are now green again. Built packages for amd64 are available at https://lissers.uvt.nl/~thijs/lighttpd/ Do you agree on the approach? Barring any objections I'm planning to release this as a DSA after the weekend. Bug#700216: smartlist: Confirmation mechanism fails with gpg signatures
Le mardi 12 février 2013 14:37:01, Santiago Vila a écrit : Oups sorry. For the second one I failed to compute the correct size: it is the size of the email + 2 answers. The real size is 12870. So I suppose 16384 would be fine. Hmm, the size of the email + 2 answers? The list server works better if you remove anything which is not required for it to work. Sorry, there is a miscomprehension here. What I meant is that one of the mbox I sent actually contains 3 messages (1 + 2 reply) instead of just 1. What you are proposing, essentially, is that we adapt the size to the sum of all known netiquette mistakes. That is a solution which I don't like very much. I understand but smartlist can be used for private mailing list where it could be accepted, maybe even required (who knows?) to have HTML emails for instance. It should be allowed, at least for private setup, to not follow the netiquette (I can't believe I'm saying that, I'm sure I'll regret). Instead of increasing the size limit so much, or even in addition to, could we make sure that the messages sent by the list server warn the user about removing all the unnecessary stuff? We could indeed. It would be an improvement over the current situation. What would be even better (IMHO) would be a switch to enable or disable this check (like a enforce_plain_text) and when disable warn people in case the limit is reached. That said, I'd really like to understand what's the objective with this check since it's only performed at request time and no longer after. Is this for memory consumption, spam, something else? How is this goal achieved by enforcing a check at request time only? Best regards, Thomas signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.
