Bug#718400: hostname binaries inconsistently hard-linked

2013-07-30 Thread Matthew Cengia
Package: hostname
Version: 3.11
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

The binaries for this package are inconsistently hard-linked by the
Makefile. Note that all are hard-linked together except hostname
  itself:

mattcen@toto:tmp$ dpkg -L hostname | grep bin/ | xargs ls -il
10403 -rwxr-xr-x 4 root root 18760 Feb 17 2012 /bin/dnsdomainname
10403 -rwxr-xr-x 4 root root 18760 Feb 17 2012 /bin/domainname
10402 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 18760 Feb 17 2012 /bin/hostname
10403 -rwxr-xr-x 4 root root 18760 Feb 17 2012 /bin/nisdomainname
10403 -rwxr-xr-x 4 root root 18760 Feb 17 2012 /bin/ypdomainname

I think the correct fix for this is to sym-link all binaries to
  'hostname' rather than hard-link them:

sed '/ln/s/-f /-fs /' Makefile

Alternatively, if, for some odd reason hard links are required:

sed '/ln/s/-f hostname/-f ${BASEDIR}\/bin\/hostname/' Makefile

Bug#718399: gnome-terminal: auto-scrolling hangs sometimes

2013-07-30 Thread Matthieu Imbert
Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 3.8.3-1
Severity: normal

Since the upgrade to this version I noticed in certain situations
that the auto-srolling hangs.

This occured with a gnome-terminal configured with a huge
scrolling buffer (5 lines), a few tabs opened, and a program
generating a lot of output on one of the tabs. Then, when
switching alternatively between the gnome terminal window and
another window, sometimes when the gnome-terminal window is
displayed, the scrolling is stopped (though, in the background,
the program is still producing output). the page down key does
nothing, one has to scroll up and then down to be able to get back
the regular auto-scrolling

Bug#718398: please package the new version of libseccomp

2013-07-30 Thread Michael Tokarev
Source: libseccomp
Severity: wishlist

Next version of qemu (1.6) which is about to be released,
requires libseccomp at least version 2.1. I'm uploading
1.6.0-rc0 into experimental without seccomp support, but
I'm not sure it will be good idea to release qemu without
seccomp support into unstable/testing.

Thanks,

Bug#718397: gnome-terminal: gksu gnome-terminal forgets state of Show Menubar

Package: gnome-terminal
Version: 3.8.3-1

Normally gnome-terminal remembers the state of the "Show Menubar" option,
between invocations.
When run as root with gksu, it does not. Thus even if the user disables the
menubar, when he quits and relaunch "gksu gnome-terminal" the menubar is back.

Bug#718018: ITP: haskell-swish -- semantic web toolkit

Hi,

Having just had a very frustrating conversation about this ITP with
Jonas, it seems that he has only a passing familiarity with Haskell, did
not bother to request packaging by the Debian Haskell Group (which to me
as an outsider seems to be the natural home for such a package), and
imagined that he was a member of DHG when he in fact is not (which seems
bizarre, and a little worrying).

On the other hand, he claims that it was always his intent to have the
package team-maintained, so perhaps he is just doing all the bits in the
wrong order.

I would suggest that this bug be treated as a RFP rather than an ITP.

I would also suggest that ftpmasters reject any haskell package uploaded
by Jonas, at least until he bothers to have a reasonable discussion
about the best way to proceed on the debian-haskell list.

Cheers, Phil.

Bug#718396: git: please package git-multimail hooks

2013-07-30 Thread Jonathan Nieder
Package: git
Version: 1:1.8.4~rc0-1
Severity: wishlist

git's contrib directory includes a replacement called git-multimail
for the unmaintained post-receive-email hook. Packaging it is a
little more complicated than it sounds because it includes a
"git_multimail" Python module (that should be installed to an
appropriate path and possibly compiled to bytecode) but it still
should not be too hard.

Probably some of the code from bug#648500 can be reused for this.

Please package git's mediawiki integration from contrib/mw-to-git so
it can be used as simply as

apt-get install git-mediawiki
git clone -c remote.origin.pages='User:Jrn' \

The frustrating thing is that I had this working on my laptop before.
It shouldn't be much work to do it again (or if someone else wants to

That's not a reason to make user's lives harder.
If it's not implemented, the only way for user is to change screensaver.

Bug#718393: hostname --all-fqdns is broken: doesn't list the FQDN

2013-07-30 Thread Vincent Lefevre
Package: hostname
Version: 3.13
Severity: normal

On my machine, which is on a local network (thus doesn't have a
"public" IP address):

$ hostname --fqdn
xvii.vinc17.org

$ hostname --all-fqdns
xvii.local

It seems that xvii.local is set up by avahi-daemon, as I can see in
the syslog file:

Jul 28 18:12:34 xvii avahi-daemon[2690]: Server startup complete. Host name is
xvii.local. Local service cookie is 1210368067.

However xvii.vinc17.org resolves to 127.0.1.1 (via /etc/hosts) while
xvii.local resolves to 192.168.1.2 (the IP address of eth0, obtained
via DHCP). This means that xvii.vinc17.org is permanent, while
xvii.local will no longer exist if eth0 is brought down.

The method use by "hostname --all-fqdns" should make sure that the
FQDN is listed, because this is what one expects.

The hostname(1) man page gives strange recommendations:

  -f, --fqdn, --long
Display the FQDN (Fully Qualified Domain Name). A FQDN consists
of a short host name and the DNS domain name. Unless you are
using bind or NIS for host lookups you can change the FQDN and
the DNS domain name (which is part of the FQDN) in the
/etc/hosts file. See the warnings in section THE FQDN above, and
avoid using this option; use hostname --all-fqdns instead.

Why use --all-fqdns instead of --fqdn? If the goal is to rely on a
permanent FQDN (e.g. for host identification in log files are things
like that), then --fqdn is a much better way. Really, this depends
on what the user wants to do...

Yes, because the version of poppler and libzzip in Debian are too old
and do not allow for compilation of luatex.

For poppler, right, for pixman the system libs are used.

Because it is built from the source, no need for build dependencies.

I will remove the poppler build-deps, as they are wrong.

Bug#699667: Still present in stable update

2013-07-30 Thread Michael Ekstrand
fixed 699667 linux/3.2.46-1
thanks

I have no reason to believe that the stable update was intended to fix
this bug, but thought I would note its continued existence.

I also don't know if http://bugs.debian.org/622325 is present or absent
in the stable kernels, so I don't know if it will work on mdadm DNS-323
machines even after fixing this bug.

Bug#359717: bash workaround

2013-07-30 Thread Zenaan Harkness
If using bash, this is what I've come to in my local bashlib,
over the last few years:

isMounted () {
   # make sure a target/ arg is passed in:
   [ -z "$1" ] && return 1
   # turn target into fully qualified filename/ location
   # (not doing so can cause problems with some of the tests I've tried,
   # eg perhaps the one currently used see below):
   DIR=`readlink -f "$1"`

   # Option 1, from: http://arstechnica.com/civis//viewtopic.php?f=16&t=1174539
   #
   #grep -q "$DIR" /proc/mounts
   #[ $? -eq 0 ] && return 0 # Alternatively: "return $?", I guess
   # or alt alternative, make sure no other commands like echo follow :)
   # From url: "For more robust bash scripting, using $? is preferred as it
   # allows you to detect extra error conditions (like the command not
   # existing, or you gave it syntactically invalid arguments, etc.)"

   # Option 2:
   #
   # The following seemed unsophisticated, and clunky, when the /bin/mountpoint
   # command is installed by default, thus option 3 below. But as can be seen
   # with option 3, the "sophisticated" option is in fact buggy. I emailed

Bug#359717: /bin/mountpoint bug: mount -o bind /dir /dir, creates a mountpoint for which /bin/mountpoint is unsuccessful

2013-07-30 Thread Zenaan Harkness
Sent this in 2010 as email to pkg-sysvinit-devel... :

PS: now I'm on sid, the following was from 2010:

To use 'mount --make-rshared' on say /media or /mnt, requires that
I first run:
mount -o bind /media /media
to create a mountpoint at /media, so that subsequently I can successfully run:
mount --make-rshared /media

This is useful when using chroots, as I do.

I was using "mountpoint -q $DIR" to determine if an arbitrary
directory was mounted or not, in my chroot u/mount script.
Unfortunately this broke when I started using "mount -o bind /media
/media".

So since /bin/mountpoint does not work, I am instead now using:
if mount | grep "on ${DIR} type" > /dev/null; then ...; fi

I just checked initscripts in a Ubuntu 10.04 chroot guest (initscripts
"Version: 2.87dsf-4ubuntu17"),
on my Ubuntu 8.04 host, and /bin/mountpoint there displays the same bug.
My Ubuntu 8.04 uname -a:
Linux ip61 2.6.24-28-generic #1 SMP Sat Oct 16 17:46:03 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux
Initscripts Version: 2.86.ds1-14.1ubuntu45.1

Hope the above is useful,
Zenaan

Personally I tend to think we should just embed an appropriate version
of the libgdb source in the fpc source package. The debian policy on
embedded libraries is only a "should not" not a "must not" and I don't
see any significant security exposure in doing so.

you can replace all instances of osg::Geometry to
deprecated_osg::Geometry to have a quick fix:

• Clean up of osg::Geometry class removing all deprecated slow path
API's resulting in a smaller and faster Geometry class

• Addition of deprecated_osg namespace and deprecated_osg::Geometry

Bug#718389: ruby-debian: Missing most data.tar deb members support

2013-07-30 Thread Guillem Jover
Source: ruby-debian
Source-Version: 0.3.8
Severity: important

Hi!

The debian.rb library only supports deb binary packages with gzip
compressed data.tar members, and lacks support for all the rest, as
documented in deb(5):

  data.tar
  data.tar.xz
  data.tar.bz2
  data.tar.lzma (deprecated)

The lzma member is deprecated but might be found in the wild so it
would be a good idea to supprt reading from it. Adding support for the
rest seems important as there's an increasing number of some of those.

Thanks,
Guillem

The deb-view.el code does not support data.tar and data.tar.lzma,

It would be nice if support for those those two could be added.

Bug#718386: deb-gview: Missing support for some data.tar compressed deb members

2013-07-30 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: deb-gview

Severity: important

Hi!

This program's main purpose is to view .deb package contents, but
currently it does not support binary packages with bzip2 or lzma
compressed data.tar members as documented in deb(5). The former is
allowed in the Debian archive, the latter in Ubuntu, although
compressing with lzma should be considered deprecated now, there's
going to be such packages in the wild, so adding support for both
seems important.

retitle 698787 ssl-cert: Please mark Multi-Arch: foreign
thanks

It looks to me that this is more a problem with mime-support and ssl-cert
packages that were not flaged as supporting multi-arch. [1]

mime-support package was fixed in version 3.53. [2]

So I'm reassigning to ssl-cert.

Regarding your problem with the hungarian mirror, I suppose it was transiant.
If you have that kind of problem again, just use another mirror. [3]

xbel was available from debian.org in 2001, and is available from
archive.debian.net. Latest version:

http://archive.debian.net/lenny/web/xbel-utils
http://archive.debian.net/lenny/xbel

More seriously, I think this bug report can be closed. I no longer care
about it.

I don't know where unix.xml came from either.

You are right, sorry for the mistake It was downloaded by
apt.postgresql.org.
However it uses the same source (built from pkg-grass/postgis.git) as
the one in unstable (postgresql-9.1-postgis-2.0-scripts) which is
affected by the same problem.

Ciao,
Marco

As far as I understand, you should use href="/$gWebHostBugDir/css/bugs.css" and
not href="$gWebHostBugDir/css/bugs.css" (i.e. a leading / is missing).

Also, search.cgi still refer to href="http://bugs.debian.org/css/bugs.css";
instead of the above.

Bug#528855: Bug#706623: libgdb-dev: missing .a files

2013-07-30 Thread Samuel Bronson

Since libgdb.a has been dropped upstream, we've dropped libgdb-dev
entirely now, and fp is going to need to come up with a different plan
for debugger support.

(For what it's worth, I get the impression that IDEs linking against
libgdb have tended not to support the version of gdb in the archive at a
given time anyway, so in the end this might actually save trouble.
Sorry about any inconvience in the meantime.)

I mean node-uglify. I believe that's the tool the jquery project uses
themselves for their minification.

I elaborated more on this at bug#679665.

Good idea!

In my opinion we should start simple and recommend use of node-uglify in
our Policy wiki page.

(then later we can consider introducing a package to auto-(re-)compress
allowing local admin to deviate from a default compressor)

What do others in the team think?

Bug#718384: dput-ng: codename checks don't honor local configuration

2013-07-30 Thread Russ Allbery
Package: dput-ng

Uploading heimdal using scp to local (host: genesis.stanford.edu; directory:
/srv/repos/local/incoming)
running allowed-distribution: check whether a local profile permits uploads to
the target distribution
`oldstable-kdc' not in the codename group

oldstable-kdc is a local distribution for packages that we only use
on some specific hosts. It's listed in allowed_distributions:

[local]
method = scp
login = rra
fqdn = genesis.stanford.edu
allowed_distributions = ^(unstable|stable(-[a-z]+)?|oldstable(-[a-z]+)?)$
incoming = /srv/repos/local/incoming
post_upload_command = ssh example.stanford.edu reprepro-upload local

It looks like allowed_distributions is being ignored by this check.

I had the same problem when trying to upload OpenAFS security fixes to
Debian, although I can't explain that one since stable-security does
appear to be listed in the relevant file. But I was getting the same
error message there.

I'm currently switching back to dput for these uploads, since I can't
find a configuration knob I can turn to let them proceed.

this,

wrong.)

I'm pretty sure I've tested relevant upgrades when I fixed this - have
you came across a broken upgrade path?

And an (unversioned) Breaks really seemed sufficient here, despite of
what lintian says

Breaks really is a hint to the resolver that a newer version fixes the
problem and that it's enough to deconfigure the affected version to
upgrade it later. But then it's probably true that an unversioned breaks
is just mapped into a plain conflicts internally. It's not that you can
do anything to resolve it.

Thinking about it I wonder if conflicts could actually cause more
trouble here when upgrading?

Bug#718383: kde-workspace-bin: suspend to ram is not working

2013-07-30 Thread Volker Groll
Package: kde-workspace-bin
Version: 4:4.10.5-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

for me the suspend to ram is not working neither the power button shows
any reaction.
After update to kde 4.10.5 the suspend to ram worked sometimes, since a
few days it stopped completely.
powerdevil itself seems to run, because brightness is changing when the
laptop is removed from docking station.
pm-suspend is working as expected.

With a complete fresh user suspend will not work too.
With kernel 3.9 it also does not work.
Within /var/log I cannot find any error messages from kded

I would be very glad if you can give me a hint where to continue search.

Thanks a lot

Hi Etienne,

Thanks very much for looking at the package -- much appreciated!
Do you mind if I attach a copy of this to the ITA bug?

It took quite a bit of work in rawdog since I used to have a load of
local patches to feedparser -- it's only really become possible with the
more predictable sanitisation that recent feedparser does.

Done:
  * Check that the package meets Debian policy version 3.9.4 (no further
changes needed), and update Standards-Version.

I'd moved them to Build-Depends because that's what the Python policy
and LibraryStyleGuide use in their examples, but reading the rationale
it sounds like Build-Depends-Indep is appropriate, so I'll go with that.

Good catch -- I was intending it to be covered by the * section, but of
course that's missing Decklin's copyright. Fixed.

Yes, I'd spotted that -- I think it's a distutils oddity. The distutils
manual says:

"The license field is a text indicating the license covering the
package where the license is not a selection from the “License” Trove
  classifiers."

... so I'd removed it when I added the license to the classifiers list.
I'm not too worried since PKG-INFO and the PyPI page do correctly
include the license classifier.

(The same goes for "Platform: UNKNOWN", but rawdog never had a platform=
kwarg anyway -- and in that case the distutils documentation doesn't
even say what values are permitted...)

I was hoping you might ask that ;-) Yes, the intention is to spin it off
as a standalone library after it's been shaken down a bit in rawdog; it
has the same (trivial) API as feedfinder, so it should be a drop-in
replacement.

> > > 'missing.rss'>

That's one downside of writing software in the UK! I've made test-rawdog
set LC_ALL=C.

> > Test failed: expected testauto/output.html to contain
> > 'HEADING-01-01-18:00'

... and that's another one! 18:00 on January 1st is 18:00 local time for
me, but not in other timezones. test-rawdog now sets TZ=UTC.

I've also added testcases to make sure that varying locale and timezone
does actually have the desired effect on date formatting. (And spotted
another encoding problem that I'll need to fix...)

Thanks very much,

I'm pretty sure I've tested relevant upgrades when I fixed this - have
you came across a broken upgrade path?

And an (unversioned) Breaks really seemed sufficient here, despite of
what lintian says

We don't use this code, so it's not really a problem.

Bug#718376: apt-zip: Most deb data.tar member files are unsupported

2013-07-30 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: apt-zip
Version: 0.18
Severity: important

Hi!

This package contains some code to verify .deb files in the wget
method, but it only handles data.tar.gz deb members, it's at least
missing support, as documented in deb(5), for:

  data.tar
  data.tar.bz2
  data.tar.xz
  data.tar.lzma (deprecated)

So the check function should be updated to cope with packages that
exist in the wild.

Thanks,
Guillem

As far as I see, debbugs-web should replace debbugs to allow upgrade.
(/etc/debbugs/html has moved).

Revisiting this, I don't think this should've been breaks, at least for
infinoted-0.{4,3}, but rather conflicts? (Also lintian warns about this,
because the breaks are unversioned. The older infinoteds won't suddenly appear
without the alternatives and even if, breaks without version still seems
wrong.)

Bug#718341: [Aptitude-devel] Bug#71834{1,2}: aptitude install cups-daemon doesn't create 'cupsd.conf' file

2013-07-30 Thread Brian Potkin

I am not the maintainer of cups but I do a bit of work with it every so

The output of

   dpkg -l | grep cups

should help to clarify matters.

It is the postinst of cups-daemon which arranges for cupsd.conf to be
written to /etc/cups. I did a quick test on an unstable install; the
postinst is the same as the one in testing so it's not such a bad idea.

My install is used for testing cups so it is has all the printer related
packages on it. 'aptitude purge cups-daemon' wanted to remove cups,
hplip, cups-pdf, printer-driver-gutenprint, printer-driver-hpcups and
printer-driver-postscript-hp. I let it go ahead.

Then I installed all these removed packages with aptitude. A new
cupsd.conf was created. Jeffrey, I'd recommend reviewing what you did
and trying to reproduce the behaviour you describe.

Regards,

Brian.

Hello

I tried to reproduce your problem on apache 2.2.22, but I could not.

Are you sure you did not forget the + ?

Using

gives excatly the "problem" you repported.

But
IndexOptions +SuppressHTMLPreamble
works as expected.

This is because it's looking for clucene-config.h and doesn't find it -
and thus is the case because it doesn't look in the multiarch library dir.

Adding /usr/lib/${CMAKE_LIBRARY_ARCHITECTURE} as in the attached patch
fixes it.

Bug#718372: gpscorrelate-gui: dies silently when correlating read-only photos

2013-07-30 Thread Anders Jonsson

Package: gpscorrelate-gui
Version: 1.6.1-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

when trying to correlate photos that are read-only with
gpscorrelate-gui, the GUI dies without an explanation.

If run from the terminal, one can see the following lines:

Failed to open file
/home/haaninjo/Documents/testgpscorrelate/IMG_20130712_190854.jpg.

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'Exiv2::BasicError'
  what():
/home/haaninjo/Documents/testgpscorrelate/IMG_20130712_190330.jpg:
Failed to open file (w+b): (errno = 13)

Aborted

It is clear that correlating read-only photos can not succeed, as it
includes adding longitude and latitude to the photos, but it should not
crash the GUI. Doing nothing and showing an error message describing the
problem would be more helpful.

This is because clucene-config.h is in

When that is fixed -lclucene doesn't work as it's now -lclucene-core what's
needed.

Complete Patch attached.

Bug#718368: valgrind: Please support arch x32

It would be nice to have valgrind build on x32. I doubt there is anything to
change in valgrind itself.

Bug#718367: ruby-uglifier: embedded code copy of uglifyJS (should depend on some package built from uglifyjs source)

2013-07-30 Thread Daniel Kahn Gillmor
Package: ruby-uglifier
Version: 1.2.5-2
Severity: normal
Control: affects -1 uglifyjs

the uglifyjs source package contains the javascript for uglifyJS.

however, ruby-uglifier also appears to contain a (reorganized) version
of the same code.

Debian packages should not contain embedded copies of code that exists
elsewhere in the archive; it makes maintenance and security fixes more
difficult than they need to be.

As mentioned above: Probably the unstable package is not broken in that way.
I didn't figure out if this can be smoothly installed in stable.

I think you're suggesting that this package should use the uglify
javascript minifier, rather than the yui minifier.

Do you mean node-uglify or ruby-uglifier or something else?

Does the debian javascript packaging team want to settle on a "best
practices" minifier and document it someplace?

I've found and fixed (upstream, r9976) a bug which caused failure to
display the red warnings about non-unique rows / columns for non-square
grids and caused the game to accept solutions that violated the
uniqueness constraint.

(However, I think the generated puzzles did not _require_ the uniqueness
constraint to be violated in a solution.)

The main advantage of fontconfig is not having to hard-code font
pathnames at build time nor in git. If you add pango/QuesoGLC then you
get fallback on secondary fonts, which is mainly useful for l10n.

It is a pedantic level check, as a reminder to talk with upstream
about their development practices.

No, leave that out of the binary package.

Bug#718364: alien: deb access fallback code lacks some data.tar members support

2013-07-30 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: alien
Version: 8.88
Severity: minor

Hi!

The Alien/Package/Deb.pm file has fallback code to be used whenever
dpkg-deb is not available, but this code using ar does not support any
other data.tar member beside data.tar.gz, as described in deb(5). The
missing ones are:

  data.tar
  data.tar.xz
  data.tar.bz2
  data.tar.lzma (deprecated)

You might want to add support for those, but if no one else has asked
for it before, I'm not sure how much that code is being used?

Thanks,

An example (at least right now), see apport.

Sorry, I read the bug report on github more carefully now and realized
that the citation of Till Kamppeter in the last comment of vitorbaptista
is highly relevant in this context:

In my case the PPD has two "Product"-lines:
*Product: "(HP LaserJet 1200)"
*Product: "(Hewlett-Packard HP LaserJet 1200)"

Since the two lines don't represent two different printer models I'd say
one of those two lines could be deleted – and this would fix this bug.
Or is it possible that both lines are needed in some way?

Thanks,
Stefan.

Bug#718360: Missing gtk/gdk doc in devhelp

2013-07-30 Thread Andrey Gursky
Package: libgtk2.0-doc
Version: 2.24.20-1
Severity: important

Dear maintainers,
gtk/gdk docs are missing in devhelp now. Comparing package to the
wheezy one it turns out, naming has been changed:
wheezy:
/usr/share/doc/libgtk2.0-doc/gtk/gtk.devhelp2
/usr/share/doc/libgtk2.0-doc/gdk/gdk.devhelp2
jessie:
/usr/share/doc/libgtk2.0-doc/gtk/gtk2.devhelp2
/usr/share/doc/libgtk2.0-doc/gdk/gdk2.devhelp2

It seems devhelp wants the name of the devhelp file to be equal to the
corresponding directory. Does anything speak against consequent
renaming the containing directories gtk/gdk to gtk2/gdk2 (in
/usr/share/doc/libgtk2.0-doc)?

Regards,
Andrey

Bug#522759: non-truncating package available

2013-07-30 Thread Tom Jones
We've fixed this for us with net-tools 1.60-24.2.oxix.0 in our own
 in the "oxix-unstable-upgrades"
distribution.

Others are welcome to use it from there if they so wish, or grab the
source package for themselves.

Currently only available for amd64 but happy to build and add for other
archs if that would be useful to anyone.

Suitably for a package fixing an ipv6-related bug, that package repository
is currently only available over ipv6.

given that the game only displays its own static strings and usually
ships the font file, i'd assume upstream will stay with sdl ttf, but i
asked anyway.

my impression was that it's a mixture of copy/pasted and one-shot import
from somewhere else, possibly an ad-hoc process -- but i've asked for
clarification here too.

i don't think it's a problem

that's the default value upstream ships in the make file. as it is
packaged, i patched the make file to only -O3 if the flags are not given
from outside, so it shouldn't affect debian. (the original makefile
didn't respect any environment variables.)

> Please add --parallel to the dh arguments.

the build process is a single gcc invocation. --parallel wouldn't do
anything, would it?

given how rare upstream changelogs are outside of top-of-class
upstreams, i sometimes wonder why this is even a check.

ok / done

done. should the .ico file remain in /usr/share/pixmaps? (i assume no.)

i blame the poor resolution to #277441.

just kidding, now i know of the tool, fixed and done.

on my box, i got segfault crashes for single argument tests.

i'm not sure exactly why, but they are related to hyper segfaulting when
no DISPLAY variable is set (failure to check for SDL_Init return code).
now runs flawlessly; probably the x server was under too heavy load, sdl
didn't get proper windows back, and behaved as if the x server was gone.

i'm under the impression that this kind of thing might happen again --
i've already spotted another zero pointer dereference
(03-worm-segfault.patch), which might be indicative of a general
sloppyness with respect to zero pointers and exit codes, but my stance
on this is that it's sufficient quality for a game which neither has
elevated privileges nor reads untrusted data.

-

i hope to get the package in release-able shape when i receive zeno's
responses to my inqueries concerning the typesetting system and further
sources; i'll report back then.

Hi,

I am attaching the git patches for the initramfs-tools git. Is only a proposal.
Ben, what do you think? Please, apply them only if you agree with this
behaviour (and code).

If you agree, I will forward the bug report to initramfs-tools and I will tag
it with +patch. Then, uswsusp package doesn't need changes.

Cheers,
kix

Subject: [PATCH 2/2] resume using uswsusp configuration

This patch reads the uswsusp configuration file (/etc/uswsusp.conf)
to get the resume device. If the file exists and uswsusp package is
installed, it save the value in the /etc/initramfs-tools/conf.d/resume
file. When the initrd image is created, this value is stored in the
conf/conf.d/resume file.

If the uswsusp package is not installed, if the configuration file
doesn't exists, or the file included in the configuration file doesn't
exist, the value is not used, and the previous scheme is used.

The main difference between this patch and the previous behaviour is
the resume file is now created when the user run update-initramfs not
when the user install the initramfs-tools package. The reason is because
the user run 'dpkg-reconfigure uswsusp' can change the swap device, so
the swap included in the configuration file could be wrong. The code
to update the configuration file is moved from debian/initramfs-tools.preinst
file to update-initramfs file. The function chrooted() was previously
included in the file update-initramfs.

Bug#718359: command-not-found: Unsupported deb data.tar members

2013-07-30 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: command-not-found
Version: 0.2.38-1
Severity: important

Hi!

This package seems to lack support for several deb data.tar members
supported by dpkg-deb in UnifiedDataExtractor/DebPackage.py, as
documented in deb(5). Namely data.tar.xz, data.tar.lzma (although
deprecated), and data.tar (uncompressed). The first is allowed by
the Debian archive, .lzma is allowed by the Ubuntu archive AFAIK.

Please add support for those, otherwise some parts of the package will
not be able to cope with packages found in the wild.

Thanks,
Guillem

I actually do this. I lose the ability to use fcitx in certain programs
in the middle of a session, at random points. Like I work for, say, an
hour, and suddenly, the ability to use fcitx with certain (console)
programs goes away in the middle of said session.

I have found a workaround, though: Often, I regain the ability to use
fcitx by twiddling the input method settings of the "surrounding"
terminal program.

This is still unsatisfactory, but no longer a show-stopper.

FWIW, when I decide to use fcitx, I run this command before firing up my
X session after setting my environment variables properly (although as
part of a script):

$ im-config -n fcitx

Bug#718355: python-debian: Please add support for .deb with uncompressed data.tar member

2013-07-30 Thread Guillem Jover
Package: python-debian
Version: 0.1.21+nmu2
Severity: wishlist

Hi!

The python-debian code does not seem to support uncompressed data.tar
.deb members, as specified by deb(5), which have been supported since
dpkg 1.10.24.

At least the Linux kernel team is currently using «dpkg-deb -Zgzip -z0»
on linux-source-3.10, which generates an uncompressed data.tar.gz member
(which TBH in a strict sense it's bogus for dpkg to create), ideally
once dak accepts uncompressed data.tar member (w/o extension). the
kernel could switch to use «dpkg-deb -Znone».

Supporting them in python-debian will allow to access those packages,
which might already exist in the wild. AFAIK debdelta is already using
those when reconstructing .debs to feed to dpkg, to avoid duped work.

Thanks,
Guillem

I think making it perl-debug is fine for the initial change. SystemTap
does not add much (if any measurable) overhead unless it's enabled,
however. So maybe eventually it can be in the default package.

Correct. There's no additional linkage at runtime.
You're right, though, the python build-dep does sound kinda strange :o
Thanks for the response

Bug#522759: no progress?

2013-07-30 Thread Tom Jones
This version of netstat is useless -- all our ipv6 addresses
are identical up to the point at which netstat truncates them,
so we are unable to distinguish them for UDP using netstat.

Anyone have any good workarounds?

It is remarkable that Debian has made two stable releases over
the years this bug has existed.

What are people doing to monitor udp listeners on ipv6 hosts?

Bug#718354: Unruly: "unique" ignored when width != height

2013-07-30 Thread eispin
Package: sgt-puzzles
Version: 9872-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

"What led up to the situation?"
- Open unruly (or sgt-unruly)
- Click on Type > Custom
- Choose any non-1:1 ratio (I tested 10x8, 10x6, 8x6, 6x8)
- Check the "Unique rows and columns" box (set to enabled)
- I tested it mostly with "Difficulty: Normal", but it seems to also happen
with "Easy"
- Start game, solve it with any duplicate row/column

When starting a game with width==height (I tested 6x6, 8x8 and 10x10), sgt-
unruly immediately complains when a row or column is an exact duplicate

When starting a game with width!=height (I tested 10x8, 10x6, 8x6, 6x8), sgt-
unruly does NOT complain when a row or column is an exact duplicate. When the
game is finished, the field "blinks" in the standard manner when a game is won.

My best guess is that whatever is responsible for detecting duplicate
rows/columns somewhere mixes up width and height.

Bug#718318: [Pkg-javascript-devel] Bug#718318: javascript-common does not install

2013-07-30 Thread Jean-Michel Vourgère
Apparently, your system is having a dangling symlink
/etc/apache2/conf-available/javascript-common.conf ->
/etc/javascript-common/javascript-common.conf
that prevents the installation of package javascript-common.

javascript-common has been broken for a while in sid, since apache2.4 is out.
So maybe you created that link yourself by moving the content of conf.d/ into
conf-available/ ?

javascript-common does not create links and has never been creating links in
/etc/apache2/conf-available/
It did create links in /etc/apache2/conf.d/ up to version 8, however.

From which version were you upgrading?
You can probably find that information in logs such as var/log/aptitude,
/var/log/apt/history.log and /var/log/dpkg.

I don't see any test suite failures in haskell-lens that have anything
to do with testing. It's BD-Uninstallable on architectures without
GHCi, but that's fine. It should go in with the rest of the GHC
transition once the s390x business is sorted out one way or another.

Bug#711454: libapache2-mod-php5: MPM prefork not found ... ==> ... Syntax error on line 9 of /etc/apache2/mods-enabled/php5.conf: Invalid command 'Order'

You might be right, but I will fix that after the apache2 transition
happens.

I think that Julien would kill me if I did upload php5 just to fix this bug
right now :).

O.

Bug#718352: Description word-wraps Python example

2013-07-30 Thread Josh Triplett
Package: python-bunch
Severity: normal

>From the description of python-bunch:

For instance, you can have the following: >>> b = bunch.bunchify({"foo":"bar"}
>>> b.foo 'bar'

That example should really go on multiple lines. See
http://www.debian.org/doc/debian-policy/ch-controlfields.html#s-f-Description
; you can put two spaces at the start of each of those lines to have
them show up verbatim.

Also, the call to bunchify needs a closing parenthesis.

Yep. It is a bug in the cmake files. They are fixed upstream for 5.1.1, iirc. I
think we will include it in the next upload if we do any more 5.1.0 uploads.

It is expected that everything works with using the public headers.

The private headers is not something you should install under normal
conditions.
