Bug#744753: /etc/cron.d/anacron: Re: anacron: Anacron not triggered when system resumes under systemd
Package: anacron Version: 2.3-20 Followup-For: Bug #744753 I've been hit by this as well. It's rather annoying because it's a completely silent failure. Instead (or maybe also in addition to) having anacron started by systemd on resume, would it be possible to change /etc/cron.d/anacron to start anacron on an hourly basis instead of once a day? This would probably solve this as well as any similar problems, and believe that anacron keeps track of timestamps, so having it started more often should not cause any issues. -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 3.14-1-amd64 (SMP w/8 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages anacron depends on: ii debianutils 4.4 ii init-system-helpers 1.18 ii libc62.18-5 ii lsb-base 4.1+Debian12 Versions of packages anacron recommends: ii cron 3.0pl1-124 ii rsyslog [system-log-daemon] 7.6.3-1 Versions of packages anacron suggests: ii postfix [mail-transport-agent] 2.11.0-1 ii powermgmt-base 1.31+nmu1 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#728747: courier-mta won't start randomly at boot
Package: courier-mta Version: 0.68.2-1 Followup-For: Bug #728747 I believe that I am experiencing this same bug, but am not completely sure. I just set up an new host on an OpenVZ container, and I don't have access to the boot console messages, so I don't know if Courier-MTA and my other courier daemons are tossing errors during boot. I don't see anything in syslog, and I don't know of anything way I can get the console log without the help of my hosting provider, which isn't likely. I suspect the reason I am seeing this is because the host is a very fast OpenVZ container. I was having repeated and reliable problems with Courier-MTA starting at boot. Starting the init script manually after boot always resulted in a successful start. Courier-IMAP was often starting, but courier-mta and courier-mta-ssl would not start. Notably, occasionally courier-mta-ssl *would* successfully start at boot. I believe I have fixed the problem by adding "courier-authdaemon" to the "Required-Start:" line in the courier init scripts where appropriate and then running update-rc.d against the courier init scripts. Please change the courier daemon init scripts to include courier-authdaemon as a dependency. -- System Information: Debian Release: 7.5 APT prefers stable APT policy: (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.32-042stab081.5 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages courier-mta depends on: ii courier-authlib0.63.0-6+b1 ii courier-base 0.68.2-1 ii debconf [debconf-2.0] 1.5.49 ii libc6 2.13-38+deb7u1 ii libgcc11:4.7.2-5 ii libgdbm3 1.8.3-11 ii libperl5.145.14.2-21+deb7u1 ii libstdc++6 4.7.2-5 courier-mta recommends no packages. This is true from from two of my own unstable/testing systems as well as from a clean sid chroot. If I run it in an unbuilt source tree (as retrieved by "apt-get source"), I get the same error you get. With the source tree built ("make"), it works again. > BTW, if you do a new upload, would you mind dropping the unnecessary > "Restrictions: build-needed" from debian/tests/control? > python-subvertpy already ships the test suite, and even if you would > run it from the source tree there's no need to build anything as you > are testing the installed package. You stumbled upon the reason I added it - without building (in place, not in dist/) first, they fail. Obviously this is a sign that we're testing the source tree binaries rather than the installed binaries, which is not the intention of debian/tests/. I really like the idea of autopkgtest but it's still a pain to run these tests locally. For subvertpy we're just running the standard testsuite - installed - that already runs as part of the build anyway, so autopkgtest is just not worth the trouble at the moment for me. I'll disable or remove the autopkgtests with the next upload. Cheers, Jelmer -- Jelmer Vernooij Debian Developer http://samba.org/~jelmer/ signature.asc Description: Digital signature

I am in XFCE, so I don't have the "system settings/notifications". I installed it firstly: # apt-get install systemsettings and then, run it on terminal emulator, because XFCE does not have its icon. $ systemsettings then, I can follow the upstream's instruction to click the "notification" tap, and decrease or mute the KDE system notification sounds. Bug#742704: ImplicitCad in Debian
Hi, Someone requested that ImplicitCad be included in Debian. I'd be the one doing that, and after checking it out, I must say I'm rather excited about it. This has (almost ;-) [1]) all the features that I've been missing in OpenScad. However, there is a minor issue, which I hope you can help with: I don't know Haskell. This means I would make sure the package builds right and that bug reports are handled (which means fixing the packaging or passing them to you); Debian's Haskell team has offered to help with the Haskell part, but they don't want to take over from you. So what it means is that we need you to continue responding to bug reports and fixing things when needed. I really don't know how much work that is; I guess you know better. Normally I would just assume that you would do this, but it's been some time since you last pushed any changes to github, so I'm slightly worried that you may have abandoned the project. Can you please let me know the status? Thanks, Bas [1] The one feature which is not in either of them, as far as I could see, is the 3-D variant of "polygon offsetting": growing or shrinking an object. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Mission Control does not have an auto-away implementation that is used by any Debian desktops (it might still have vestigial code from Maemo, but that isn't active under GNOME or KDE). In GNOME, auto-away is part of GNOME Shell; in KDE, it's presumably some KDE component. Could someone with more understanding of kde-telepathy please suggest where to reassign this, and ask the bug submitter for any additional version information that is needed? Bug#749084: iceweasel: Shipped DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia, Amazon searches have no icons
Package: iceweasel Version: 29.0.1-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, The shipped DuckDuckGo, Wikipedia, Amazon searches have no icons. Steps to reproduce: Just create a new, fresh profile and open the search bar menu. The mentioned three entries have no icons. To make things worse, it is also not possible to use the search entry from DuckDuckGo themselves to get a fixed icon: After removing the entry Debian provides, when I try to add the one from duckduckgo.com or also from the Mozilla "Add more searches" page, I always get the error that "an engine with the same name already exists". Which is clearly wrong, I just removed it, but it won't let me add DuckDuckGo again. So all I can do is reset my search engines to default, which brings them back with a broken icon. Bug#749081: does not know that use 5.012 implies use strict
Package: libtest-strict-perl Version: 0.23-1 Severity: normal Test::Strict returns false positives for code that uses: use 5.012; or a later version. Per the Perl documentation: "use VERSION" also enables all features available in the requested version as defined by the "feature" pragma, disabling any features not in the requested version's feature bundle. See feature. Similarly, if the specified Perl version is greater than or equal to 5.12.0, strictures are enabled lexically as with "use strict". so saying "use 5.012" is sufficient to enable strictures, but Test::Strict wants an explicit "use strict" (or one of a variety of other helper modules). -- System Information: Debian Release: jessie/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (990, 'testing'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 3.13-1-686-pae (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages libtest-strict-perl depends on: ii libdevel-cover-perl 1.14-1 ii perl 5.18.2-4 libtest-strict-perl recommends no packages. libtest-strict-perl suggests no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". I now use reprepro (version 4.12.5-1), instead of apt-move. So, there is no need to alter apt-move on my account. However, it would be nice to have some software to search my pool/ directory tree for any packages which are either: not signed for by the distro keys, or do not have the digests listed in the Packages or Sources files. reprepro generates a directory called "lists/", which contains "Release", "Packages" and "Sources" files very like the ones in /var/lib/apt/lists/ . Bug#749080: installation-reports: Grub is not automatically installed in all RAID members
Package: installation-reports Severity: important Tags: d-i Dear Maintainer, I have installed Debian in a couple of servers. In one i have a RAID 1 array an in the other i have a RAID 6 array In teh two systems this array is the only "physcal device" i have all my system is inside there . At the end of the installation process when debian prompt for installing the bootloader, saying yes makes debian install the bootloader in the first disk ( /dev/sda). This is ok for a normal installation but not for a RAID setup, because if /dev/sda fails the system wont boot. The Debian installer should automattically install grub if it detects that the boot patition is in a RAID array, and install grub accordingly in all the physical disks. I manually installed grub in every disk after the installation, but again this could lead to a potential loss of data, if the system wont boot, and the administrator is just puzzled about why. Maybe this feature was deliberately not implemented. But at least the installer should include a prompt, to install grub in all the disk in the RAID array or a warning to indicate the user to install grub in every physical partition after the installation. -- Package-specific info: Boot method: Image version: Date: Machine: Partitions: Base System Installation Checklist: [O] = OK, [E] = Error (please elaborate below), [ ] = didn't try it Initial boot: [ ] Detect network card:[ ] Configure network: [ ] Detect CD: [ ] Load installer modules: [ ] Clock/timezone setup: [ ] User/password setup:[ ] Detect hard drives: [ ] Partition hard drives: [ ] Install base system:[ ] Install tasks: [ ] Install boot loader:[ ] Overall install:[ ] Comments/Problems: -- Please make sure that the hardware-summary log file, and any other installation logs that you think would be useful are attached to this report. Feel free to > come to a conclusion with those who use crosswrapper in Debian and I'm > ok with applying most of the patch. > A few folks who use cross-compilation in debian are CC'ed. At the moment pkg-config cross wrapper does not add /usr/lib/pkgconfig to the pkg-config's search path in cross-case. This thus leads to configuration errors. E.g. if a correct arhicture dev package installed (e.g. in amd64->armhf case, libfoo-dev:armhf) but it's not multiarched, configuration will fail as -pkg-config will say that no such library is present. With this change configuration & build will succeed. If one has a wrong architecture package installed, currently configuration will fail. With this change, the build stage will fail (well, linking). And one gains cross-buildability of a lot of trivial packages without multiarchifying them. Thus actually I see no reason to not add /usr/lib/pkgconfig to the search path in the cross-wrapper. Bug#749077: Recommends python-hiredis
Package: python-redis Hi, I think would be usefull recommends python-hiredis. From the redis-py README: "Parser classes provide a way to control how responses from the Redis server are parsed. redis-py ships with two parser classes, the PythonParser and the HiredisParser. By default, redis-py will attempt to use the HiredisParser if you have the hiredis module installed and will fallback to the PythonParser otherwise. Hiredis is a C library maintained by the core Redis team. Pieter Noordhuis was kind enough to create Python bindings. Using Hiredis can provide up to a 10x speed improvement in parsing responses from the Redis server. Mike Egglestone writes: #Did that, rebooted and still no keyboard. # #FWIW, I pulled the drive out and slapped it into a Dell Optiplex 7010 I have as a spare #workstation, booted it and keyboard works. Further to this, I went back to stock everything. 3.13 kernel with debian's xen 4.3.0. Moved the internal USB connector to the other port on the motherboard. (This wire connects the 2 front USB connectors on the front panel of the chassis) and rebooted with the USB keyboard plugged into the front panel. Keyboard works! Moved the keyboard back to any of the 4 rear onboard USB ports, and keyboard does not work. Either of the 2 front side USB ports worked. Downed the server, moved the internal USB connector back to the first USB slot it was plugged into originally, plugged the keyboard into one of the 2 front panel usb ports and booted it up. Keyboard does not work. Keyboard works in all cases and ports at the grub prompt. (unless bios usb legacy is disabled) This is so strange. I found a server with an Intel S2600CP board in it, slapped the drive into that and booted into xen, keyboard works. (plugged into rear onboard usb ports) Either it's this particular model of Intel board(S1200BTL), or just this one board that I have. If I can find another S1200BTL board, I will try it, but I'm happy to close this bug and just blame the board, the BMC or the C204 chipset. :) Cheers, Mike

About the STIX versions at http://sourceforge.net/projects/stixfonts/files/Current%20Release/: * STIXv1.1.1-webfonts.zip contains WOFF versions of STIXGeneral and some versions of STIX Word adapted for MathJax. I don't think one wants to install them (except perhaps as a local Web servers) so they can be ignore for fonts-stix. Said otherwise, bug 730995 can be closed. * STIXv1.1.0.zip contains two sets: STIXGeneral (about 30 files) and STIX Word (4 files which includes STIX Math). STIXGeneral are becoming obsolete, although they are still used by MathJax and Gecko <= 30, so you might want to keep them. For STIX Word, the more recent 1.1.1 version should be considered (see below) * STIXv1.1.0-latex contains version for use in the traditional TeX typesetting engine (with the TeX metrics files and stuff). It would be best to ask to the maintainers of the related package if they need these fonts. It's probably already a dependency in texlive. * STIXv1.1.1-word is the modern OpenType fonts with a MATH table (see http://mpeg.chiariglione.org/standards/mpeg-4/open-font-format/text-isoiec-cd-14496-22-3rd-edition section 6.3.6). The name is really confusing, indeed it can be used in Microsoft Word but also in modern TeX typesetting engines such as XeTeX, LuaTeX or ConTeXt. Again, that should be a dependency for texlive, I guess. Anyway, all what I want to ask is to integrate the STIXv1.1.1-word in the fonts-stix package, please. I have recently been working on the support for the MATH table in WebKit and Gecko and these fonts will be necessary for the MathML rendering. Note that in Gecko 31 (next ESR), the STIXGeneral fonts will be deprecated in favor of the STIX Math fonts. Another way to fix this bug is to add additional configuration: [apt_all] user root Because the update is performed as root by the cronjob, the plugin statefile is written to /var/lib/munin-node/plugin-state/root/plugin-apt.state. Bug#734908: gcr: This is a problem for remote account passwords
Package: gcr Version: 3.12.2-1 Followup-For: Bug #734908 The focus-grabbing behavior is in fact problematic when the goal is to ask for a remote account's password. It is common nowadays for these passwords to be kept in a password manager such as Revelation. A system modal dialog prevents the user from accessing such a password store. Bug#748729: May belong to package gcr
Hi, Today, the dialog popped up while the screen saver was active. Somehow, this cause the dialog to not become system modal. Later, in my logcheck mail the following lines appeared: May 23 18:26:04 walnut gcr-prompter[2740]: Gcr: could not grab keyboard: already grabbed May 23 18:26:04 walnut org.gnome.keyring.SystemPrompter[2752]: Gcr-Message: could not grab keyboard: already grabbed This leads me to conclude this bug belongs to the gcr package. -- Matijs signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature
Bug#749062: mdadm: add "containers" to emergency config file

I think we should just omit this line entirely and rely on mdadm defaults. Maybe add it as a comment. Bug#743122: Patch: add a build-dependency on dh-autoreconf
On Fri, May 23, 2014 at 09:58:45AM +0200, Andrea Claudi wrote: > Hello, > The FTBFS can be fixed adding a build-dependency on dh-autoreconf. Andrea, thank you for taking the time to report this patch and helping to make Debian better. Your patch looks good, I just slightly reowrded the changelog. BTW: it's "Closes", not "Closed". :) Uploading to archive right now. Bug#749063: docker makes df horrible
On Fri, May 23, 2014 at 01:34:26PM -0400, Joey Hess wrote: Hmm, AFAICS the aufs mounts are not unique volumes, at least they show as the same size as the root filesystem: /dev/sda138G 29G 7.2G 80% / none 38G 29G 7.2G 80% /var/lib/docker/aufs/mnt/81abbf65e1935a6754e11276c044b94012082304f247be1b70306fa7dfda3650 none 38G 29G 7.2G 80% /var/lib/docker/containers/81abbf65e1935a6754e11276c044b94012082304f247be1b70306fa7dfda3650/root They're the same baseline filesystem, but aufs lets you merge filesystems and redirect writes so they're logically different. (And, presumably, they may consume storage differently in other cases than yours and someone may want to see that via df.) I'd assume that they've got different device IDs (stat -c %d /mnt/whatever) unlike bind mounts, which are exactly the same filesystem. (df uses the device IDs to determine which filesystems are duplicates.) Mike Stone -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#748889: paraview: FTBFS on kfreebsd
Hi Sebastian, thanks for bugreport! 2014-05-21 23:42 GMT+02:00 Sebastian Ramacher : > (Why does paraview contain an embeded copy of vtk6?) It is difficult and long story. In couple of words, we need a support of upstream to make it happen. As far as I know Christophe Trophime tried to do it and even proposed build vtk-binaries from Paraview. But it is not yet implemented. Regards Anton -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
