Bug#814036: initramfs-tools: mdadm doesn't assemble disk

2016-02-20 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: mdadm
Version: 3.3.2-5+deb8u1
Followup-For: Bug #814036

Dear Maintainer,

first of all: thank you for providing and maintaining this packeage for Debian!

   * What led up to the situation?

After update to the current version around January, 23rd, or so the home volume
does not
assemble automatically anymore. It is a RAID1 mirroring two disks of identical
produce.
The S.M.A.R.T. does not report anything wrong with the disks. So, during system
start-up the
root volume is checked correctly and then the sequence pauses waiting for the
home volume to
appear for fsck. After 1:30min pause the sequence completes dropping into
emergency mode. In
the emegency shell I issue:

   # mdadm --assemble /dev/mdadm/0

which leads to:

mdadm: /dev/md/0 has been started with 2 drives
[some time] systemd-fsck[some PID]: /sbin/fsck.xfs: XFS file system

after issuing:

   # systemctl default;exit

I get:

   Aufgelegt
   exit

and everything starts as expected.

Currently, I am using 4.2.0-0.bpo.1-amd64 kernel. The issue occurs with the
standard kernel
3.16.0-4-amd64, too. Starting into single mode does not help, either.

Please, give me some hint how to get back to fully automatic start up of the
system.

Bug#648284: gnome-packagekit: No desktop anymore; possibly missing pk-gtk-module?

2011-11-10 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: gnome-packagekit
Version: 3.0.3-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I would just follow the template, no offense intended :-)

   * What led up to the situation?

Logging into my account using system default.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

aptitude update;aptitude safe-upgrade on Monday, Nov 7th.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

After logging into my account there was nothing on the desktop except
mouse pointer and default background: no icons, no bars, no reaction
to F1 nor Alt-F1 nor Ctrl-Alt-Del nor pressing F-keys deliberately.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I did expect a completely configured desktop :-)

A look into .xsession-errors led to:

Gtk-Message: Failed to load module pk-gtk-module

followed by

x-session-manager[PID]: Application 'gnome-shell.desktop' killed by signal

and dpkg -S pk-gtk-module led me to this package where I did not find
further hints besides the file
/usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon-3.0/gtk-modules/gpk-pk-gtk-module.desktop

If I log in with GNOME-Ausweichmodus I get some desktop elements but not my
configuration.

Please, tell me how to get my desktop back :-)

Best regards, Alexander.

Bug#625300: qlandkartegt: Does not start: relocation error

2011-05-03 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: qlandkartegt
Version: 1.1.0-1
Severity: important

On invocation the following message appears:

relocation error: /usr/lib/libgdal1.7.0.so.1: symbol __cxa_pure_virtual,
version libmysqlclient_16 not defined in file libmysqlclient.so.16 with link
time reference

QLandkarteGT does not start. Calling ldd /usr/bin/qlandkartegt yields
libmysqlclient.so.16 = /usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.16 (0x7ffa542b9000) at
some point.

I would happily test preliminary DEBs, but wouldn't so much like compiling Qt
stuff :-)

Best regards, Alexander.

Bug#610958: Multiseat: Gimp select rectangle crashes X (Single Seat: OK)

2011-01-24 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: xserver-xorg-core
Version: 2:1.7.7-11
Severity: normal

Hello,

X crashes reliably if:
 - running multiseat;
 - using select rectangle or select elliptical in Gimp.

The Gimp operations run fine with just one X server running. The crash doesn't
depend on the picture.

The multiseat setup consists of three X servers: a dummy one and two working
for the two Radeon using the open source driver. The log file below is for the
current session. A similar multiseat configuration (dummy, nouveau, and radeon;
see bug #546586 for setup) yields the same crash.

In a follow-up I will send the config files, the crash X server log file, the
gimp and the X backtrace.

Best regards, Alexander.

Bug#569984: WARNING: gcov did not create any files BUT: strange files produced

2010-02-15 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: lcov
Version: 1.7-1
Severity: serious

Hello,

in a project with directory structure the run of LCOV doesn't produce the
desired *.info file any more. It states for instance:

  Processing ./lib/stage2/i3.gcda
geninfo: WARNING: gcov did not create any files for
LcovTst/lib/stage2/i3.gcda!

The source i3.c is located in LcovTst/lib/ and the LCOV run produces a file

  LcovTst/lib/stage2/..#i3.c.gcov

In the *.info file there are just

  TN:

lines.

I will send a very simple test project to check this effect.

As there were no LCOV updates recently I suspect the real reason is the GCC an
GCOV update some days ago. I checked with older GCC and GCOV than the current
ones in testing (gcc-4.3 and gcov-4.3 vs. gcc-4.4 and gcov-4.4) and it worked
as expected. Using LCOV 1.8 from ltp.sourceforge.net/coverage/lcov.php didn't
help to get the 4.4 versions working.

Bug#550946: Not working any more with perl 5.10.1-5

2009-10-14 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: safe-rm
Version: 0.7-1

During and after the perl-upgrade to 5.10.1-5 safe-rm produced messages like
this:

Using /bin/rm directly solved the upgrade problem with perl, but safe-rm
continued to misbehave after the upgrade as well as after a purge followed
by an re-install of safe-rm.

Best regards,

Alexander.

Bug#408222: abiword-gnome: Crashes immediately

2007-01-24 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: abiword-gnome
Version: 2.4.6-1.1
Severity: important

Hello,

abiword crashes immediately after the attempt to start it. This happens if
started from the menu, the command line, and by double click from file
manager. If started w/o argument a file Unbenannt1.abw.SAVED is left
behind, otherwise a file original name.SAVED is left behind, for instance
after a double click on crash.abw we find crash.abw.SAVED in the same
directory. On the CLI abiword --verbose=2 doesn't yield *anything*. After
purging the complete package and a re-install the crashing continues, for the
plain abiword package likewise.

I hope this helps, best regards,

Alexander Mader.

Bug#314439: mozilla-thunderbird: activity bar during folder open exceeds its limits

2005-06-16 Thread Alexander Mader
Package: mozilla-thunderbird
Version: 1.0.2-3
Severity: minor

Hello,

first of all: Many thanks for packaging and maintaining thunderbird!

During the process of opening an IMAP mail folder activity is
indicated by a moving bar in the lower margin near the right side,
just beside the two status fields for unread and all messages in the
folder to open, respectively. Besides this moving bar a permanent
rectangle is displayed---presumably the border of the moving bar.

The bar movement exceeds the border rectangle both at the left and
the right hand side.
