This removed scim-chinese 0.4.2, and I could run synaptic without problem. scim 1.4 needs the new IM engine scim-pinyin (scim-chinese renames to scim-pinyin after 0.4.2) which is not yet in unstable. I installed scim-pinyin 0.5.91 from source. Now scim and synaptic work fine without problem. Still get the same problem : connect a usb disk, OK, /media/sda1 --> remove the disk, no /media/sda1 --> re-connect a usb disk, no /media/sda1 To get ivman working again, two options: * connect a usb disk --> umount the disk --> remove the disk * connect a usb disk --> remove the disk --> re-connect a usb disk --> restart ivman So ivman can't do "auto-umount".
