Bug#779077: apache2-bin: crash with segmentation fault if gracefully reloaded twice too quickly

2019-02-01 Thread Ben Hay
Package: libapache2-mod-fcgid
Version: 1:2.3.9-1+b1
Followup-For: Bug #779077

Dear Maintainer,

In early January I upgraded from Jessie to Stretch.

The server is running Sympa, which uses fcgid in Stretch for the web interface,
and for Soap services.

Shortly after the upgrade I encountered this bug. Researching the problem led
to this report, and I determined that the bug was triggered by logrotate.
I noted also that Apache only hangs if the fgci script has been accessed since
last restart - ie if there are fcgi processes in memory when you attempt to
reload Apache.

As a workaround I modified the logrotate configuration to restart Apache if
defunct processes are found after the attempted reload.

This worked fine. Yesterday, however, the bug appeared again and this time
logrotate was not the culprit. I investigated and determined that certbot
attempts to reload Apache multiple times when renewing our certificates.

I modified the letsencrypt configuration like this:
[renewalparams]
pre_hook = /usr/sbin/service apache2 restart

By restarting Apache before certbot runs I remove fcgi processes from memory,
and if there are no fcgi processes Apache reload does not hang the service.

A better workaround might be to change the Apache scripts to automatically
issue a restart instead of reload if any fcgi processes are in memory.

HTH,

Ben

Bug#725840: zoneminder: Javascript errors in updateButtons function of filter.js

2013-10-08 Thread Ben Hay
Package: zoneminder
Version: 1.25.0-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

When accessing the Filters dialog, the log shows errors like this:
"TypeError: form.elements.autoUpload is undefined"
in /usr/share/zoneminder/skins/classic/views/js/filter.js on line 14.

In the example above, OPT_UPLOAD was turned off,
which caused the autoUpload element to be omitted from
the Filters dialog.

updateButtons() should check that the form elements exist before
attempting to access their properties.

Bug#723706: zoneminder: Zoneminder Exports but HTML is faulty

2013-09-18 Thread Ben Hay
Package: zoneminder
Version: 1.25.0-4
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

This is the same as Ubuntu bug at,
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/zoneminder/+bug/1176128

Zoneminder will export and create a downloadable zip file, but the folder
structure created is not the same that the created HTML is looking for.

Example: When I click on an event the HTML link is looking for

 events/1/7/zmEventImages.html

but the actual location is

 events/1/13/09/09/12/41/57/zmEventImages.html

Regarding Debsums errors below.

Bug#571796: console-tools: Virtual terminals no longer visible

2010-02-27 Thread Ben Hay
Package: console-tools
Version: 1:0.2.3dbs-68
Severity: normal

Following a recent upgrade which included console-tools, and other packages, I
can no longer see
the output from the VTs.

Here's what happens.
Boot system.
Grub 2 loads
Starting up...
Rather than the usual boot messages here the monitor switches to standby.
Eventually KDM starts and screen comes back on.
CTRL-ALT-F1 at the KDM prompt, or after logging in, changes to the VT, but the
X image stays on the screen.
I can test that the VT is active by typing username and password then, for
example doing:
#echo HELLO WORLD > /tmp/vt1.txt
ALT-F7 returns me to X and I can see /tmp/vt1.txt, as expected.
Shutting down the system results in a black display once X has shut down, then
after the system
powers off the monitor goes into standby.

For some time I have been using "quiet vga=791" in Grub.
Removing "quiet" seems to work, at first.
Boot messages are visible, and I am able to switch to a virtual terminal.
However after logging into KDE, kwin CPU usage goes to 100% and I am no longer
able to switch to a VT.
Shutdown displays the same black screen as when using "quiet".

Bug#454553: live-helper: lh_clean missing handler for --usage

2007-12-05 Thread Ben Hay
Package: live-helper
Version: 1.0~a37-2
Severity: normal

lh_clean has a case statement with default action as follows:
 *)
"${0}" --usage
;;

However there is no handler for "lh_clean --usage".
The effect of this is that if you call lh_clean with an invalid
parameter, or with --usage, lh_clean calls lh_clean --usage, which calls
lh_clean --usage, which calls lh_clean --usage, which but you get
the idea.

Bug#447957: egroupware: egw asyncservices reports "crontab not found or not executable"

2007-10-24 Thread Ben Hay
Package: egroupware
Version: 1.2.107-2.dfsg-2~bpo40+1
Severity: normal

admin/class.uiasyncservice.inc.php reports that crontab cannot be found or is
not executable, even though crontab is in the path, and is executable.
In fact, the same page reports "Async services last executed: 2007/10/25 -
08:35 (crontab)"

>From phpgwapi/inc/class.asyncservice.inc.php (function installed()):
if (!is_executable($this->crontab))
{
  //echo "Error: $this->crontab not found !!!";
  return 0;
}
The "is_executable" call here is failing.
When I comment "return 0" everything works as expected - including the call to
crontab via popen a few lines later.

Bug#430915: workaround

2007-10-02 Thread Ben Hay
I am experiencing this problem, and thought I might post my current
workaround just FYI :

apt-get install openbox
You might also like to install the obconf package, although this is
currently broken in Lenny.

Now, when logging into KDE via KDM click "Sessions" and select the
option for KDE with Openbox.
Should be a similar option in GDM also, but I have not checked.

Bug#440281: live-magic: Failes to save configuration

2007-08-31 Thread Ben Hay
Package: live-magic

Severity: normal

On running live-magic in expert mode I made some changes to the
configuration - specifically setting bootstrap mirrors to use apt-cacher
on localhost (eg: http://127.0.0.1:/ftp.debian.org/debian/).

Then I hit the "Save" button. Live-magic reports success in saving the
changes, however on checking the configuration
files ( /tmp/tmpl9E_OPlive-magic/config/bootstrap) I find the following:
LH_MIRROR_BOOTSTRAP="http://ftp.debian.org/debian/";

Furthermore the "Save" button is now disabled, and remains disabled
after I make futher configuration changes.

Bug#439177: Can't go back to first page in IE

2007-08-22 Thread Ben Hay

I agree completely. Sadly, I have users. Damn those pesky users. :)

Anyway, if that is the position of the egroupware project then surely it
is only fair to place something on the homepage ... I don't know
"This software is not compatible with Internet Explorer"... or some such.

Instead we see:

*"eGroupWare is platform independent.* The server runs on Linux, Mac,
Windows and many more other operating systems. On the client side, all
you need is a internet browser such as Firefox, Konqueror, Internet
Explorer and many more."

Many More - because it is on so many albums, though for some reason
I can't remember how it goes. Does anybody know the words to "And Many

Bug#439177: Can't go back to first page in IE

2007-08-22 Thread Ben Hay
Package: egroupware-addressbook
Version: 1.2.107-2.dfsg-1
Severity: normal

Here's the thing. The thing is as follows.
On first viewing the address book we see results 1-25 of 47 (for
example). We then click through to the next page and view results 26-47.
No problem so far. Now, however, on clicking either the First or
Previous items, the address book fails to go back - loading instead the
same page (26-47) again.

I changed my preferences to show only 10 results per page, then
experimented some more - finding that the "back" selection works for all
pages except the second one. ie: if on page 3 I can go back to page 2,
but still cannot go back to page 1.

This problem does not occur in Firefox. Only IE. (Tested with version 6
of IE).

drowning them at birth."

This is a quote from Robert Heinlein. Just thought I'd let you know,
because, well, credit where credit is due, and all that crap.

I am soo damn pedantic.

Bug#383730: initramfs-tools: incompatible with udev 0.097-1

2006-08-19 Thread Ben Hay

udevd[769]: lookup_group: error resolving group 'disk': No such file or
directory
udevd[769]: lookup_group: error resolving group 'floppy': Illegal seek
udevd[769]: lookup_group: error resolving group 'cdrom': Illegal seek
udevd[769]: lookup_group: error resolving group 'tape': Illegal seek

those are harmless.

I am getting the same thing. Furthermore X fails to start, reporting that it
cannot find the mouse at /dev/input/mice.

I then have to restart udev, unplug the mouse(usb) and plug it in again, and
/etc/init.d/ kdm restart
This gets me into X, however the audio device is also not found, so no sound.

That's certainly very strange. Do you happen to have /usr mounted
'nosuid' or something like that? What is the output of

  ls -l /usr/bin/pmount
  cat /proc/mounts

for you?

Thanks,

Martin

Oh, crap. /usr was indeed mounted nosuid.  I will wear the dunce hat
and sit in the corner now.

I have an Intel Motherboard D915PGN, which uses the I915P chipset.
In order to get the sound working I had to install and compiled the alsa-source
package. (driver is azx).
||/ Name Version
Description
+++---===
ii alsa-source 1.0.8-4 ALSA driver sources

The mixer shows the following output sliders:
Headphones, PCM, Front, Surround,Center,LFE,Line,CD,Mic-1,Mic-2,PC
Speaker.
The Slider labelled "Front" is a bit of a misnomer, as it appears to be
the master volume control.

The problem is the system tray volume control adjusts the Headphones
channel rather than master volume ("Front").

It appears this is set in Mixer_ALSA::identify when a device called
"Master" is found. m_masterDevice = snd_mixer_selem_id_get_index( sid
);
Since m_masterDevice is assigned 0 as default value in mixer.cpp the
first device will be used as master if the ALSA driver does not provide
one called "Master".

Clearly this does not work for all drivers (or does this mean the driver
is broken rather than kmix?)

Perhaps what Kmix needs is an option for the user to select the channel that
will
be controlled by the systray volume control, since Kmix can't guess the
correct device 100% of the time.
