Bug#1057260: iwlwifi: `N' invalid for parameter `enable_ini'

2023-12-07 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: src:linux
Followup-For: Bug #1057260

Thank you for your answer. You are right:

❯ cat /etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
options iwlwifi enable_ini=N

I cannot find a package that provides it, but I also cannot remember to have
created it by myself. I think I am just going to remove that file.

I can confirm the problem. I see exactly the same log line with 6.5.0-5 and my

Bug#972627: Minimal reproducible example

2020-10-21 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: googletest
Version: 1.10.0.20201018-1
Followup-For: Bug #972627

Here is a minimal example that can be used to reproduce the problem:

test.cpp
```
#include
#include
#include
class MyMock {
public:
MOCK_METHOD(void, testPrint, (std::string_view));
};
TEST(Test, test)
{
constexpr std::string_view param{"test"};
MyMock mock;
EXPECT_CALL(mock, testPrint(param))
.Times(1);
}
```

Building with `g++ -std=c++20 test.cpp -lgmock_main -lgmock -lgtest -pthread`
and version 1.10.0.20201018-1 leads to:

```
/usr/bin/ld: /tmp/ccgTGXuD.o: in function `Test_test_Test::TestBody()':
test.cpp:(.text+0x68): undefined reference to
`testing::Matcher >
>::Matcher(std::basic_string_view >)'
```

Using the same command, but version 1.10.0-3 works.

Bug#949647: Problem induced by sqlite3 3.31.0-1

2020-01-22 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Dear all,

I have the same problem. First, I tried to downgrade firefox from 72.0.2-1 to
72.0.1-1+b1, but the problem persisted. Then, I downgraded libsqlite3-0 from
3.31.0-1 to 3.30.1-1. Now, firefox starts again. I upgraded firefox back to
the latest version and it is still working.

Kind regards
Benjamin

P. S.: A big thanks to the people providing snapshot.debian.org!

Bug#906730: calendar-exchange-provider: Add-on is not compatible with Thunderbird 60.0

2018-08-20 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: calendar-exchange-provider
Version: 4.0.0~beta5-1
Severity: grave
Tags: upstream
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

after updating Thunderbird to version 1:60.0-1, an error message is
shown stating that this add-on is not compatible with the current
Thunderbird version. This problem is also reported upstream [1] and I
saw that you already commented on this issue. But recently, some work
started on porting the add-on to Thunderbird 60 [2, 3]. If a new
add-on version will be published, please consider packaging it again.

Thank you for your work and kind regards

Bug#900333: xserver-xorg-core: flickering, black screen and modeset driver error… downgrading fixes the issue

2018-05-29 Thread Benjamin Eikel

Hi all!

I suffer from the same problem after the upgrade (Debian sid). It
makes my Plasma desktop nearly unusable (flickering, freezes).
Downgrading to 2:1.19.6-1 as proposed by Martin fixes the problem for
me, too.

If you need further information or logs, I can upgrade again and provide them.

Bug#835992: [Pkg-zfsonlinux-devel] Bug#835992: 835992

2016-09-17 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Dear Petter,

the build failure reported here is independent of the dkms problem in #836578.
I applied the suggested patch from #836578, but the build still fails with
Linux 4.7 (see attached /var/lib/dkms/spl/0.6.5.7/build/make.log). The changes
of ZFS v0.6.5.8 [1] contain the compatibility with Linux 4.7. So maybe the
easiest solution is packaging the new upstream release.

Kind regards
Benjamin

Hello,

I suffer from the same problem with libgutenprint2/printer-driver-gutenprint in

Bug#722138: Dependency can be added now

2013-11-20 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

I just discovered that the kde-telepathy-desktop-applets package was not
installed on my system due to the missing dependency. After searching for a
bug report, I found this one here that exactly describes the problem I
discovered. The plasma-runner-telepathy-contact package is already available
in testing so that, as far as I can see, the missing dependency can be added
now.

Thanks for your work on the KDE Telepathy package!

Kind regards
Benjamin

Bug#678353: openssl communication problems with 1.0.1e with AES-NI

2013-03-11 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

Am Samstag, 9. März 2013, 15:44:38 schrieb Kurt Roeckx:

 They asked if you use any LD_* environment variables.

printenv | grep LD is empty.

 lsof -p $pid of s_client process would also be nice.

See attached file lsof-sclient.txt.

 If you have a custom /etc/ssl/openssl.cnf, it would also be nice
 if you could send that.

I have the default one created by the Debian package.

 /proc/cpuinfo would also be nice to have.

See attached file proc-cpuinfo.txt.

 If you know how to use gdb, they ask to print print variables and
 buffers in e_aes_cbc_hmac_sha1.c

 If you want to debug it, debugging might not show you source
 code since you might have the source in a different path.
 The .deb files can be generated from the source above using:
 DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS=hardening=-all DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=noopt nostrip
 dpkg-buildpackage -B -uc

 If you build it yourself, you can also just run the
 ./openssl.static binary instead of installing the .deb
 package.

With your instructions I was able to build a static version with debug
symbols. Now, I get a more helpful backtrace at the point where s_client
errors out (see attached file backtrace.txt).

I have set a breakpoint at e_aes_cbc_hmac_sha1.c:450. The function is called
multiple times before the error occurs and I do not know for what to look
exactly. I have output the parameters of two calls (see attached file gdb-
output.txt). Without knowing for what to look exactly, I think it is very
difficult to generate helpful information. Maybe somebody here or on the
openssl-dev mailing list [1] suggests what might be helpful.

Thank you for your support!

Kind regards
Benjamin

 I have no idea why you think this is related to libc6.

 The problem will be in libssl, it's just very weird that some
 people have it and that others can't reproduce it.

I just wanted to eliminate the possibility that it might be related to libc6,
because I am using a libc6 version from experimental and others probably have
a different version. As I already stated, I have no clue how to debug the
problem and therefore nothing else remains for me than testing random things.
If you can give me further pointers how to find the root of the problem I am
happy to help.

 Can you try with:

This works and does not crash.

Bug#678353: Backtrace

2013-02-28 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

I have build the openssl source package with DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS=nostrip
noopt nohardening. With gdb, I have set a breakpoint in s3_pkt.c:484. When
the execution stops there, the backtrace is:

#0  0x77f9095b in ssl3_get_record () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0
#1  0x77f918a4 in ssl3_read_bytes () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0
#2  0x77f8d77f in ssl3_read_internal () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0
#3  0x77f8d82e in ssl3_read () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0
#4  0x77fb05b8 in SSL_read () from
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.0.0
#5  0x00449ce4 in s_client_main ()
#6  0x0041959b in do_cmd ()
#7  0x0041917c in main ()

I think that the backtrace will not be very helpful. Does it help if I send
the output produced by s_client -debug ...?

Strangely debugging does not fully work. The code is found:
(gdb) list s3_pkt.c:484
479  * SSL 3.0 only has 'bad_record_mac'.  But unless a
decryption
480 * failure is directly visible from the ciphertext
anyway,
481 * we should not reveal which kind of error occured --
this
482 * might become visible to an attacker (e.g. via a
logfile) */
483 al=SSL_AD_BAD_RECORD_MAC;
484
SSLerr(SSL_F_SSL3_GET_RECORD,SSL_R_DECRYPTION_FAILED_OR_BAD_RECORD_MAC);
485 goto f_err;
486 }
487
488 /* r-length is now just compressed */

But print al, for example, does not work. In the backtrace, files and line
numbers are missing. I also tried to give debug-linux-x86_64 to ./Configure
in debian/rules, but this does not help. Do you know why there is debugging
information missing? What should I do to get more information to find the
source of the bug?

Kind regards
Benjamin

Hello,

I suffer from a similar problem. When I use openssl s_client (for
example to connect to a mail server), the connection dies with the
following error message after issuing the first command:
140551174117032:error:1408F119:SSL
routines:SSL3_GET_RECORD:decryption failed or bad record
mac:s3_pkt.c:484:

I am quite sure that this is related to the upstream discussion at
http://www.mail-archive.com/openssl-dev@openssl.org/msg32009.html

   That issue only affected 1.0.1d which was never uploaded to
   Debian. I've waited for the 1.0.1e version because of that.

  shall I open a new bug report?

 Do you want to report it with upstream? Just send a mail to
 r...@openssl.org

It seem to occur only on machines with AES-NI support (which my
machine is).

   I'm not seeing any issues, and I have aesni support myself.

   Is this a public mail server we can connect to, to try and debug?

  Yes, it is. I used the following command:
  openssl s_client -connect mail.uni-paderborn.de:465

 That works for me ...

the connection works for me, too. It dies when issuing the first command (e.g.
EHLO test). Does the additional command work for you, too? Do you test on a
machine with AES-NI support?
The output is attached to this mail. Can I somehow produce more debugging
output? /usr/bin/openssl is built without debugging symbols as far as I can
see, so gdb does not work out of the box (libssl1.0.0-dbg is installed).

Kind regards
Benjamin

available (I created ITPs), r-cran-ggplot2 can be updated. I attached a patch

Hello,

I updated the Debian package to support the current version 0.3.0 of grantlee.
The patches in the attachment are against the repository
git://anonscm.debian.org/pkg-kde/krap/grantlee.git. I am no experienced Debian
packager so maybe there are errors in my patches. I hope that they might be
helpful.

Bug#667684: Seems to be fixed

2012-09-10 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

for me, 304.37 was quite stable and 304.43 seems to be stable too. I am not
seeing any crashes at the moment.

Kind regards

Bug#676833: Same problem when building kdevplatform

2012-08-07 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

when building kdevplatform, I get the same error message:

dh_sameversiondep: package libc6 was not found in the dpkg status. Internal
error

$ dpkg --print-architecture
amd64

$ dpkg --print-foreign-architectures
i386

When using dpkg-query, I get the same error message as Jan. Is there a
workaround for this problem without installing pbuilder or deinstalling the
i386 packages?

Kind regards
Benjamin

Bug#667684: Again

2012-07-18 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

I am now using 304.22-1 from experimental. The X server crashed again and
brought me back to the KDM log-in screen. This time the error message is
different, so possibly this is a new bug:

... kernel: [15053.553694] NVRM: Xid (:02:00): 6, PE0001
... kdm[2639]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly

Bug#667684: Same crash with version 302.17

2012-06-22 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

I suffer from the same problem with a GeForce 9800 GT:
... kernel: [82563.138114] NVRM: GPU at :02:00.0 has fallen off the bus.
... kdm[3013]: X server for display :0 terminated unexpectedly

Lately, it happend with version 302.17. All 295.x versions were unstable too.
For me, downgrading to version 290.10 from snapshot.debian.org [1] worked. I
reported that in the thread this bug is forwarded to.

Kind regards
Benjamin

Bummer! Packages like avidemux or xbmc are not available in the official
repositories. They depend on the new versions of the ffmpeg packages, therefore
it is not possible to downgrade the libraries. Seems like I have to download
Blender manually. :-/

Bug#630527: Missing diversion of /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1

2011-06-14 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: libgl1-nvidia-alternatives
Version: 275.09.04-1
Severity: grave
Tags: sid

The following report applies to the current versions from unstable and
experimental.

I wondered why no OpenGL context could be created anymore. I got the following
output when calling glxinfo:

glxinfo
name of display: :0
Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig

I checked

ldd `which glxinfo` | grep libGL.so
libGL.so.1 = /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1 (0x7fec1d221000)

and saw

dpkg -S /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1
libgl1-mesa-glx: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libGL.so.1

There is a diversion for libGL.so.1 in /usr/lib:

dpkg -S /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
diversion by libgl1-nvidia-alternatives from: /usr/lib/libGL.so.1
diversion by libgl1-nvidia-alternatives to:
/usr/lib/nvidia/diversions/libGL.so.1

Probably the multiarch change in mesa [1] caused this change.

So I think the diversion in this package have to be adapted.

Thank you for your work on this package!

Bug#560142: java-common: Package updates entail Network is unreachable in Java programs

2009-12-09 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: java-common
Version: 0.33
Severity: normal

Hello,

I am quite sure that this bug report does not belong to java-common, but
because it affects all my Java programs I reported it here.

Since installing the package updates yesterday networking in Java programs is
not working anymore. For example Eclipse (installed manually, not as Debian
package) gives me:

Dec 9, 2009 9:39:26 AM org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodDirector
executeWithRetry
INFO: I/O exception (java.net.ConnectException) caught when processing request:
Network is unreachable
Dec 9, 2009 9:39:26 AM org.apache.commons.httpclient.HttpMethodDirector
executeWithRetry
INFO: Retrying request

Other Java programs (I can name JabRef and Hudson) have the same problem (they
also report Network is unreachable). Other programs (for example Iceweasel,
Kontact, reportbug) have no networking problems. I am using the sun-java6-*
packages. But because they were not updated yesterday I suppose there is
another reason for this problem. Maybe the update of netbase? Perhaps you can
give me some hints how to inspect this problem.

Kind regards,
Benjamin

2009-12-09 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

thank you Sylvestre for your hint. Adding -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true to
my eclipse.ini fixed the problem for Eclipse. Adding the setting to the file
~/.java/deployment/deployment.properties as suggested in the blog post does
not work for me. I think this setting only affects Java applets. Maybe there is
a similar setting for local programs run by the JRE.
So somehow Java started to use IPv6 yesterday. Is this connected with the
change in the netbase package?

Kind regards,
Benjamin

Bug#526135: [korganizer] Patch

2009-05-12 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

the patch attached to this e-mail works for me. The previous solution with
setting the initial value of mFrequency led to some hidden events. With this
patch the division by zero does not occur anymore and all events are visible.

Maybe I should add that I am using a calendar stored on an IMAP server
(Kolab).

I hope it is all right that I reassigned this bug to kdepimlibs5, because the
source file is part of kdepimlibs.

Kind regards,
Benjamin

Bug#526135: Additional information

2009-05-06 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

now the crash already occurs when I switch to the day or week view in
KOrganizer. This is very annoying and makes KOrgranizer unusable for me.

I started KOrganizer under gdb and checked what causes the exception. The
SIGFPE is caused by line 1870 in the file
kdepimlibs-4.2.2/kcal/kdepimlibs-4.2.2/recurrencerule.cpp. This line is

periods += ( mFrequency - 1 - ( ( periods - 1 ) % mFrequency ) );

The debugger told me that mFrequency is zero, which explains the exception. I
do not know why this is the case and where this member variable is set.

Kind regards,
Benjamin

Bug#426293: [kopete] Similiar bug still exsisting

2009-04-29 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: kopete
Version: 4:4.2.2-1

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hello,

I tested it again with the the KDE4 version of Kopete. I took a group (group
name contains spaces) and renamed it. After restarting Kopete I have two
groups: The old one and the new one. The old one contains all meta-contacts
that contain at least one Jabber contact. The ICQ only contacts were moved to
the new group. So there still seems to be a bug with this.
After that I renamed both groups to the same name (only containing letters).
These two groups were not joined so that I have two groups with the same name
in the contact list.
At last I created a new group and moved the contacts from the two groups with
drag and drop to the new one. This time it worked and the contacts are in one
group again.

Kind regards,
Benjamin

Bug#426293: [kopete] Addition

2009-04-29 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Hello,

I have additional information: After restarting Kopete, it told me that some
contacts are missing on my ICQ server list. I let Kopete add them again. Now
all contacts from the group that I have renamed before which had ICQ and
Jabber contacts are missing ICQ authorization. That tells me that somehow the
ICQ contacts were not moved correctly and somehow they were deleted when I
deleted the apparently empty groups.

Kind regards,

Bug#524055: [plasma-widgets-workspace] Plasma widget Digital Clock does not use locale date format

2009-04-14 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: plasma-widgets-workspace
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hello,

the Plasma Digital Clock does not use the date format I have set in the global
KDE settings. I am using the ISO 8601 date format (-MM-DD) and have
configured this in the KDE system settings. But the Digital Clock shows me 14
Apr 2009 today instead of 2009-04-14.

Kind regards.
Benjamin

Bug#522943: [systemsettings] Audio is not disabled correctly

2009-04-07 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: systemsettings
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: minor

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hello,

when I choose No audio output (Keine Audioausgabe) in the Notifications
settings panel (Benachrichtigungen - Systemnachrichten - Wiedergabe-
Einstellungen) it seems that the audio output is not really deactivated. When
I log out of the KDE session it takes some seconds until the log out starts
and the screen goes black. I deactivated the sound file for the log out and
after doing so the log out goes much faster. I assume that instead of really
deactivating the sounds they are somehow played muted.
Furthermore in the Notifications settings panel I am missing a possibility to
deactivate all sounds like it was possible in KDE 3.

Kind regards,
Benjamin

Bug#522948: [kdm] kdm is not usable without kdebase-workspace-bin

2009-04-07 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: kdm
Version: 4:4.2.2-2
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---
Hello,

the greeter files (e. g. /usr/lib/kde4/kgreet_classic.so) are contained in
kdebase-workspace-bin and kdm complains about missing greeters when the
aforementioned package is not installed. I suggest that kdm should therefore
depend on kdebase-workspace-bin or the greeters should be moved into an own
package.

Package: nvidia-cg-toolkit

Hello,

I had a problem with the installer too. When libmd5-perl is not installed, the
installer cannot verify the file which
it has downloaded. Maybe libmd5-perl or another package which provides
Digest::MD5 should be added to the dependences

Hello,

with the attached patches applied to the bluez-utils (version 3.22) package
the needed libraries for bluetooth headsets under /usr/lib/alsa-lib/ are
built and put into the package. This is the first time that I change build
options of Debian packages so maybe some other changes are needed too.

Bug#438060: cupsys: Character missing in German translation of HTML configuration page

2007-08-15 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: cupsys
Version: 1.3.0-1
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

Hello,

when I open http://127.0.0.1:631/ in my browser to access the
configuration menu, I get with the browser set to English language:

PSMALLThe Common UNIX Printing System, CUPS, and the CUPS logo are
the
trademark property of A HREF=http://www.apple.com;Apple Inc./A
CUPS is copyright 2007 by Apple Inc, All Rights Reserved./SMALL/P

which is correct.

With the browser set to German (de-de) I get

PSMALLDas Common UNIX Printing System, CUPS, und das CUPS Logo sind
Warenzeichen der A HREF=http://www.apple.com;Apple Inc./A CUPS ist
urheberrechtlich geschuuml;tzt 2007 von Apple Inc,

After the text Apple Inc. there is a missing to complete the closing
/A tag. Furthermore after the second Apple Inc there should follow a
dot or the following Alle should start with a lower case letter
(alle).

Bug#429632: cupsys-driver-gutenprint: Please upgrade to new gutenprint stable release 5.0.1 (better PIXMA support)

 The package is now available here:

Bug#385796: kopete: Additional information

2007-06-20 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.5.7-1
Followup-For: Bug #385796

Hello again,

I want to add some information which might help you to track the bug.
Firstly not only the settings concerning the usage of address book names
and photos is lost, furthermore these contacts loose the ICQ
authorization status too (the are shown as authorization required
now).
Secondly it only happens to contacts of one group in my contact list.
Thirdly I am using an address book stored in a IMAP resource with KMail.

Regards,
Benjamin

Bug#429632: cupsys-driver-gutenprint: Please upgrade to new gutenprint stable release 5.0.1 (better PIXMA support)

2007-06-19 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: cupsys-driver-gutenprint
Version: 5.0.0-3
Severity: wishlist

Dear gutenprint Debian maintainers,

my e-mail to you was ignored so I am now writing this bug report. I would
greatly appreciate it if you could upgrade the cupsys-driver-gutenprint Debian
package to the new
gutenprint stable release 5.0.1. I am using a Canon PIXMA printer and their
changelog says that there were some important fixes concerning this printer.

Regards,
Benjamin Eikel

Bug#427692: libopenscenegraph5: Workaround

2007-06-13 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: libopenscenegraph5
Version: 1.9.7-1
Followup-For: Bug #427692

Hello,

I have a workaround for this problem. Create a symbolic link with the following
command:
ln -s /usr/lib/osgPlugins/ /usr/lib/osgPlugins-1.9.7

The plugins are searched in the path /usr/lib/osgPlugins-1.9.7 instead of
/usr/lib/osgPlugins. With the symbolic link they are found and the osg*
programs work again. Perhaps
you have to check where this path is set in the source code or maybe in a
compile parameter and change it to the correct path so that the package works
without this
workaround. I discovered this by doing an strace on osgviewer.

Benjamin Eikel

Bug#385796: kopete: Bug occured again

2007-06-11 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.5.7-1
Followup-For: Bug #385796

Hello,

I just started my machine and logged in to KDE, started kopete and saw, that
the preferences were lost again. The contact from the addressbook is still
associated to the
contact in the kopete contact list, but the wrong radio button is checked: The
name from the kopete contact is used instead of using the name (and photo) from
the
addressbook. I have set all contacts to use the name from the addressbook but
this setting is lost now. Same as already described before. So please reopen
this bug.

Bug#428197: openscenegraph-doc: Missing libraries and syntax errors in example makefiles

2007-06-09 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: openscenegraph-doc
Version: 1.2.0-4
Severity: normal

Dear openscenegraph-doc maintainers,

I tried to compile some examples from the openscenegraph-doc package and
encountered a couple of linking errors.
In the file
/usr/share/doc/openscenegraph-doc/OpenSceneGraph/src/examples/osgsimulation/GNUmakefile
 the library -losgTerrain should be added to the LIBS
line.
In the file
/usr/share/doc/openscenegraph-doc/OpenSceneGraph/src/examples/osgcamera/GNUmakefile
 there is the line LIBS += -lProducer -losgDB --losgUtil -losg
$(GL_LIBS) $(X_LIBS) $(OTHER_LIBS). There the additional hyphen in front of
-losgUtil should be removed.
I have not checked all examples so there might be other errors too. If I find
another I will report it against this bug.

Regards,
Benjamin Eikel

Bug#428197: openscenegraph-doc: No examples in experimental version

2007-06-09 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: openscenegraph-doc
Followup-For: Bug #428197

Hello Loic,

I installed the package openscenegraph-doc from experimental in version
1.9.7-1. In that packages there is no
directory /usr/share/doc/openscenegraph-doc/OpenSceneGraph/src. So the examples
seem to be missing or are in another package now.

Benjamin

Bug#426293: kopete: ICQ: Renaming a group in kopete's contact list leads to deleted users in ICQ contact list

2007-05-27 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: kopete
Version: 4:3.5.7-1
Severity: normal

Dear kopete maintainers,

I renamed a group, which contained some ICQ-only, some Jabber-only and some
ICQ-and-Jabber contacts. After a few days I wondered why only the Jabber users
were online and
all ICQ users always offline (only the Jabber part of the combined users was
shown online too). I talked to a few of the ICQ users and they told me that
they were online. It
was not possible to request their authorization again so I logged in with
ICQ2Go. There I saw that the whole group was missing in my ICQ contact list.
Somehow kopete deleted these users (I am sure that this was done by kopete
because I am
not using any other IM client [except ICQ2Go for testing this time]) and did
not create the new group on the icq server. I got them back by deleting these
users from my
kopete contact list, adding them again and asking for the authorization. Maybe
it is possible for you to reproduce the bug. If I should try to reproduce it
please tell me how to log the
things kopete does (maybe strace?). Then I will try with a test group or
something.

Regards,
Benjamin Eikel

Bug#425228: msttcorefonts: Dead link /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/T/Tahoma.ttf after upgrade causes Iceweasel to crash

2007-05-20 Thread Benjamin Eikel
Package: msttcorefonts
Version: 2.1
Severity: important

Hello,

after I upgraded the package from version 2.0 to 2.1 I wondered why Iceweasel
crashes. I did a strace and found these lines at the end:
[...]
open(/var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/T/Tahoma.ttf, O_RDONLY) = -1 ENOENT (No
such

file or directory)
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
[...]

I checked the file and this is what I found:

Version 2.1:
# ls -l /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/T/Tahoma.ttf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 50 2007-05-03 18:58
/var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/T/Tahoma.ttf -
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/Tahoma.ttf

# ls -l /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/ | grep Tahoma

Version 2.0:
# ls -l /var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/T/Tahoma.ttf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 50 2007-05-03 18:58
/var/lib/defoma/fontconfig.d/T/Tahoma.ttf -
/usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/Tahoma.ttf

# ls -l /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/ | grep Tahoma
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 10 2007-05-20 11:56 tahoma.ttf - Tahoma.ttf
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 105312 1997-04-01 00:00 Tahoma.ttf

So this upgrade introduces a dead link. I do not know if it is right that
Tahoma is missing but I think when it is deleted the link has to be deleted too.

Regards,
Benjamin Eikel
