Bug#484811: mutt: segfault when switching between IMAP folders
Package: mutt Version: 1.5.18-1 Severity: important I'm trying to use mutt to access both my work IMAP account, and my gmail account via IMAP. This is possibly related to bug #462266, but I can't reproduce the crash in the same way. I have the following settings in my .muttrc: mailboxes imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED] imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED] set spoolfile=imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/INBOX set folder=imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED] set header_cache=/home/catlee/.mutt/headers set message_cachedir=/home/catlee/.mutt/messages set move=no set imap_passive=yes When I switch from my work account to gmail, things work ok (I hit 'c', then tab twice, then select my gmail account). But when I try and switch back to my work account, mutt segfaults (I hit 'c', then tab twice, segfault on the second tab). I built a debug version of mutt so I could get a backtrace, which I have included below. idata-ctx is null, so the line 'state-new = idata-ctx-new' is what causes the crash. #0 0x0047ce5a in imap_mailbox_state ( path=0x6e5810 imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/, state=0x7fff8adf7e30) at browse.c:233 #1 0x0040a77b in examine_mailboxes (menu=0x700680, state=0x7fff8adf8bd0) at browser.c:445 #2 0x0040ae26 in _mutt_select_file (f=0x7fff8adf9240 , flen=1024, flags=2, files=0x0, numfiles=0x0) at browser.c:1151 #3 0x00423e6e in _mutt_enter_string (buf=0x7fff8adf9240 , buflen=1024, y=46, x=14, flags=4, multiple=0, files=0x0, numfiles=0x0, state=0x700410) at enter.c:569 #4 0x0041a5a7 in _mutt_get_field (field=0x7015d0 Open mailbox: , buf=0x7fff8adf9240 , buflen=1024, complete=36, multiple=0, files=0x0, numfiles=0x0) at curs_lib.c:144 #5 0x0041a72e in _mutt_enter_fname (prompt=0x48be15 Open mailbox, buf=0x7fff8adf9240 , blen=1024, redraw=0x713c30, buffy=1, multiple=0, files=0x0, numfiles=0x0) at curs_lib.c:575 #6 0x0041d8bb in mutt_index_menu () at curs_main.c:1086 #7 0x00435414 in main (argc=1, argv=0x7fff8adfa228) at main.c:999 -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages mutt depends on: ii libc62.7-12 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii libgdbm3 1.8.3-3 GNU dbm database routines (runtime ii libgnutls26 2.2.5-1 the GNU TLS library - runtime libr ii libidn11 1.8-2 GNU libidn library, implementation ii libncursesw5 5.6+20080531-1 Shared libraries for terminal hand ii libsasl2-2 2.1.22.dfsg1-20 Cyrus SASL - authentication abstra Versions of packages mutt recommends: ii locales 2.7-12 GNU C Library: National Language ( ii mime-support 3.43-1 MIME files 'mime.types' 'mailcap ii postfix [mail-transport-agent 2.5.2-1High-performance mail transport ag -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. These extensions add two new object types to Python, and then include a number of extensions that take advantage of these two new objects: . - Multidimensional Array Objects * Efficient arrays of homogeneous machine types (floats, longs, complex doubles) * Arbitrary number of dimensions * Sophisticated structural operations - Universal Function Objects * Support mathematical functions on all Python objects * Very efficient for array objects -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.24-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_CA.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash Versions of packages python-numeric depends on: ii libc6 2.7-10 GNU C Library: Shared libraries ii python2.5.2-1An interactive high-level object-o ii python-central0.6.5 register and build utility for Pyt python-numeric recommends no packages. -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#477555: python-numarray: Description should be clarified
Package: python-numarray Severity: wishlist python-numarray's description should be changed to indicate that it's deprecated, and that python-numpy is the preferred module to use. It also says that it's a reimplementation of Numeric (aka numpy) which further confuses things. It could be changed to: This package is now deprecated, please use the python-numpy package for developing new software. . Numarray is a set of extensions to the Python programming language which allows Python programmers to efficiently manipulate large sets of objects organized in grid-like fashion. These sets of objects are called arrays, and they can have any number of dimensions. . This is a reimplementation of the earlier Numeric module. For the most part, the syntax of numarray is identical to that of Numeric, although there are significant differences. Bug#461629: rebuilding from source fixes this problem for me
If I rebuild python-elementtidy from source and install the package, then the script given works as expected. The sizes of the .so's are identical between my version and the one in the debian archives. There are some differences between the output of 'readelf -s' though. The sizes of several of the functions is different between versions. It looks like the signature of some of the functions in libtidy may have changed between versions, in which case python-elementtidy needs to be relinked. Sorry about that, I've fixed the permissions. In any event, I looked at the shorewall-lite package you prepared. This particular matter is one that is being dealt with upstream. The 4.0 branch of shorewall is a stable release. The diff to fix every occurrence of bashisms is 2743 lines. That is a huge diff for something that is a stable release. In the next upload of the packages, I intend to simply replace /bin/sh with /bin/dash and then depend upon dash. Regards, -Roberto Will replacing /bin/sh with /bin/dash really fix the problems though? I suppose it will cause shorewall to break if a non-portable bashism is used. Bug#423238: Memory leak in fuse
Package: fuse Version: 2.6.3-4 Severity: normal There seems to be a memory leak somewhere in fuse. To reproduce: % cp /usr/share/doc/libfuse-dev/examples/fusexmp.c . % (remove reference to config.h) % gcc -Wall `pkg-config fuse --cflags --libs` fusexmp.c -o fusexmp % mkdir test % ./fusexmp test % du -ms test % watch ps -C fusexmp -o pid, rss, cmd The resident size of fusexmp continues to grow. Not sure if fuse is caching something on purpose, or if this is a real leak. This isn't unique to fusexmp either. The fusexmp_fh example, and sshfs also do this. I did find one place where if fuse_do_getattr failed then memory wouldn't be freed, but this didn't fix my problem. --- fuse-2.6.3.orig/lib/fuse.c +++ fuse-2.6.3/lib/fuse.c @@ -682,10 +682,10 @@ break; res = fuse_do_getattr(f, req, newpath, buf); -if (res != 0) -break; free(newpath); newpath = NULL; +if (res != 0) +break; } while(--failctr); return newpath; -- System Information: Debian Release: lenny/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.20-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_CA, LC_CTYPE=en_CA (charmap=ISO-8859-1) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/bash -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Bug#348871: wxglade script should not try and detect python version
I have both python2.3, and python2.4 installed. python2.4 is my default (/usr/bin/python runs python2.4), and so wxglade does not run even if its dependencies are installed. To my mind there is no reason for the wxglade script to try and detect which version of python is being used if it can't make good use of that information. Thanks,ChrisOn 1/23/06, Matthias Klose [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: On my system python2.4 is the default version of python, so the shell script tries to find wxglade in the python2.4 site-packages directory.so the package cannot be installed, as it depends on Depends: python (= 2.3), python ( 2.4), python-wxgtk2.6 | python-wxgtkI cannot see a bug here.Matthias
Bug#348871: wxglade script should not try and detect python version
Hi Matthias,I realize that I'm somewhat on my own on this one since I have modified my setup. Actually, I just double checked and /usr/bin/python still runs python2.3, but I have ~/bin/python in my PATH before /usr/bin which runs python2.4. The end effect is the same however.I believe that /usr/bin/wxglade should still be modified however, since it installs its files into /usr/lib/python2.3 and depends on wxpython, which is currently only packaged for python2.3. It makes no sense to have the wrapper script try and detect the version of python being run if it requires a particular version. What is wrong with /usr/bin/wxglade reading:#!/bin/sh/usr/bin/python2.3 /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/wxglade/wxglade.py $@ Either that or install wxglade files into /usr/lib/site-python, and let the user worry about getting wxpython for python2.4 if they have a modified setup. Thanks,Chris On 1/23/06, Matthias Klose [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: severity 348871 normalthanksIf you did manually modifiy /usr/bin/python to point to 2.4, you areon your own and probably more than the wxglade package isbroken. wxglade explicitely demands a version python (= 2.3), python( 2.4).
