Bug#874176: wrk: Fails to run with 'PANIC: unprotected error in call to Lua API'

2018-11-28 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: wrk
Version: 4.0.2-2
Followup-For: Bug #874176

Downgrading libluajit to 2.0.4+dfsg-1 fixes this for me.

Bug#869732: Upgrading postfix

I was able to upgrade via version 2.11.3-1+deb8u2 first, and then to

Bug#869732: postfix: Can't upgrade from wheezy to stretch

2017-07-25 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: postfix
Version: 2.9.6-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I am trying to upgrade my system from wheezy to stretch. I encountered
problems when upgrading postfix:

Preconfiguring packages ...
postconf: invalid option -- 'x'
postconf: fatal: usage: postconf [-a (server SASL types)] [-A (client SASL

/tmp/postfix.config.7URAPN line 221.
Use of uninitialized value $_[1] in join or string at

I believe this is fallout from bug 848686 where '-x' was added to the
preinstallation hook.

I also need a debug log, please run
 NetworkManager --no-daemon --log-level=DEBUG

An output of nm-tool after NM has activated the interface and ifconfig
without you having changed anything manually, would be helpful, too.

 Dear Maintainer,

After upgrading, network-manager no longer adds the IP address to the
interface when connecting to a wifi or VPN connection.

The IP addresses are listed in /var/log/syslog, and if I add them
manually to the interface, I am able to connect to the network.

Please send me the configuration for this connection. It is stored in
 /etc/NetworkManager/system-connection/name

I also need a debug log, please run
 NetworkManager --no-daemon --log-level=DEBUG

An output of nm-tool after NM has activated the interface and ifconfig
without you having changed anything manually, would be helpful, too.

running it with the suggested options also fails:

There is a new upstream beta available. I'll let you know once packages
 have entered unstable or experimental.

nvidia-settings often won't let me manage my attached displays because
 of this error:

ERROR: Failed to find display device 0x0010 on screen 0 (on GPU-0)

        'DFP-4: nvidia-auto-select @1920x1200 +1600+0'

The only way I've figured out to work around this is to restart X.

 Google found this:

 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=155651

There seem to be some workarounds to this problem - does anything work
 for you?

Bug#626709: resolvconf: Add NetworkManager to interface-order

2011-05-14 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: resolvconf
Version: 1.48
Severity: normal

Something with NetworkManager or resolvconf changed recently so that
name servers retrieved from NetworkManager after connecting to a VPN
appear *after* the wlan0/eth0 name servers, making it impossible for me
to resolve VPN addresses. Adding NetworkManager* to interface-order
fixes this problem for me.

Bug#559171: gnome-power-manager: Laptop suspends twice on lid close

2009-12-02 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: gnome-power-manager
Version: 2.28.1-2
Severity: normal

My apologies if this isn't the correct package to report this bug
against; I'm not sure at all what's causing this issue.

To reproduce:
- Have gnome-power-manager set up to suspend the laptop on lid close
- Close lid
- Wait for laptop to suspend
- Open lid

The laptop wakes up, presents my login screen briefly, then immediately
goes back to sleep. If I push the power button it comes back up,
presents the login screen, and stays on.

Bug#558785: nvidia-settings: Detect Displayes doesn't update Display Configuration pane if external display is changed

2009-11-30 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: nvidia-settings
Version: 185.18.31-1
Severity: normal

To reproduce:
1) Connect one monitor (for me, a 24 Dell) to the external DVI port
2) Run nvidia-settings, select the X Server Display Configuration
entry, and click on Detect Displays
3) Configure the 2nd display for TwinView, Apply the changes, and exit
nvidia-settings
4) Run nvidia-settings, select the X Server Display Configuration
entry, and disable the 2nd monitor. Apply the changes and exit.
5) Disconnect the monitor
6) Connect a different monitor to the external DVI port (a 19 LG in my
case)
7) Run nvidia-settings, select the X Server Display Configuration
entry, and click on Detect Displays. The old Dell monitor is still
displayed in the Layout pane. I have to quit nvidia-settings and
restart it in order to configure the new display.

Things work great in 2.6.26, except that extra trackpad features like

Bug#530611: Installing cups-pdf and ghostscript-cups fixed this for me

2009-07-19 Thread Chris AtLee
I had the client-error-document-format-not-supported problem as well.
Installing cups-pdf and ghostscript-cups fixed the problem for me.
I'm not sure if only one of the two packages are needed, or if both
are.

Cheers,
Chris

Bug#266229: Please update README.Debian

2008-06-25 Thread Chris AtLee
I'm assuming that this bug is still open since freeradius isn't built
with OpenSSL support.

Can you please add a note to this effect in README.Debian? I just
wasted a few hours trying to get freeradius up and running for my
wireless network, and then realized it doesn't have PEAP support.

Chris, can you confirm, if you can successfully suspend/resume with latest

 Cheers,

Yes, I can confirm that I don't need the patch with the latest pm-utils.

This bug can be closed now.

Thanks anyway :)

Bug#484811: mutt: segfault when switching between IMAP folders

2008-06-06 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: mutt
Version: 1.5.18-1
Severity: important

I'm trying to use mutt to access both my work IMAP account, and my gmail
account via IMAP.

This is possibly related to bug #462266, but I can't reproduce the crash
in the same way.

I have the following settings in my .muttrc:
mailboxes imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED] imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED]
set spoolfile=imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED]/INBOX
set folder=imaps://[EMAIL PROTECTED]
set header_cache=/home/catlee/.mutt/headers
set message_cachedir=/home/catlee/.mutt/messages
set move=no
set imap_passive=yes

When I switch from my work account to gmail, things work ok (I hit 'c',
then tab twice, then select my gmail account). But when I
try and switch back to my work account, mutt segfaults (I hit 'c',
then tab twice, segfault on the second tab).

I built a debug version of mutt so I could get a backtrace, which I have
included below. idata-ctx is null, so the line 'state-new =
idata-ctx-new' is what causes the crash.

Package: python-numeric
Version: 24.2-8.2
Severity: wishlist

python-numeric's description should be changed to indicate that it's
deprecated, and that python-numpy is the preferred module to use.

It could be changed to:

This package is now deprecated, please use the python-numpy package
 for developing new software.
 .
The Numeric Extensions to Python add powerful multi-dimensional array
objects to the wonderful general purpose programming language Python.
These new objects give Python the number crunching power of numeric
languages like Matlab and IDL while maintaining all of the advantages
of the general-purpose programming language Python.
 .
These extensions add two new object types to Python, and then include
a number of extensions that take advantage of these two new objects:
 .
  - Multidimensional Array Objects
* Efficient arrays of homogeneous machine types (floats, longs,
  complex doubles)
* Arbitrary number of dimensions
* Sophisticated structural operations
  - Universal Function Objects
* Support mathematical functions on all Python objects
* Very efficient for array objects

Bug#477555: python-numarray: Description should be clarified

2008-04-23 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: python-numarray
Severity: wishlist

python-numarray's description should be changed to indicate that it's
deprecated, and that python-numpy is the preferred module to use. It
also says that it's a reimplementation of Numeric (aka numpy) which
further confuses things.

It could be changed to:

This package is now deprecated, please use the python-numpy package
 for developing new software.
 .
Numarray is a set of extensions to the Python programming language
which allows Python programmers to efficiently manipulate large sets
of objects organized in grid-like fashion. These sets of objects are
called arrays, and they can have any number of dimensions.
 .
This is a reimplementation of the earlier Numeric module. For the
most part, the syntax of numarray is identical to that of Numeric,
although there are significant differences. The differences are
 primarily in new features.

Bug#461629: rebuilding from source fixes this problem for me

2008-04-22 Thread Chris AtLee
If I rebuild python-elementtidy from source and install the package,
then the script given works as expected.

The sizes of the .so's are identical between my version and the one in
the debian archives. There are some differences between the output of
'readelf -s' though. The sizes of several of the functions is
different between versions. It looks like the signature of some of
the functions in libtidy may have changed between versions, in which
case python-elementtidy needs to be relinked.

Chris

Will replacing /bin/sh with /bin/dash really fix the problems though?
I suppose it will cause shorewall to break if a non-portable bashism

Bug#460264: g++-4.2: Please make it possible to make the cannot pass objects of non-POD type ... warning into an error

2008-01-11 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: g++-4.2
Version: 4.2.2-5
Severity: wishlist

The warning generated at gcc/cp/call.c:4548 doesn't have a warning type
associated with it, so there's no way to turn this warning into an
error.

This is a very serious warning, as indicated by the fact that it tells
you the call will abort at runtime. If a user doesn't notice this
warning, debugging the problem is very difficult.

If one could add something like -Werror=pass-non-POD to the gcc options,
then this would save quite a few headaches here :)

Version: 1.0-1

I just tried to install libapache2-mod-wsgi on my machine. Previous to
this I had apache2-mpm-prefork and libapache2-mod-php4 installed.

Since libapache2-mod-wsgi Recommends apache2-mpm-worker or apache2-mpm-event,
aptitude tried to install apache2-mpm-worker, which resulted in
libapache2-mod-php4 being broken (since it only works with prefork).

Maybe libapache2-mod-wsgi should also Depend / Recommend on
apache-mpm-prefork, or change the Recommends to Suggests?

Bug#436299: wodim: Simple way to get media type / maximum size

2007-08-06 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: wodim
Version: 9:1.1.6-1
Severity: wishlist

It would be great if there was a way for wodim to report what the
maximum size of the media inserted into the specified device was.
AFAICT right now you have to parse 'wodim -atip dev=/dev/cdrw' for the
Lead Out information, and then parse 'dvd+rw-mediainfo' if you happen to
have a DVD inserted in the drive to determine what the maximum size of
the media is.

I'd love something like 'wodim -printsize dev=/dev/cdrw'

Bug#435556: p7zip-full: 7za should support -sfx

2007-08-01 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: p7zip-full
Version: 4.47~dfsg.1-1
Severity: normal

On Fedora, the p7zip package only includes the 7za binary. It's 7za
binary supports -sfx option, however.

On Debian, currently only 7z supports -sfx, but not 7za. This makes it
difficult to write scripts that work across linux distributions.

Is there a reason why 7za can't generate self-extracting archives in
Debian?

Bug#425344: libnss-mdns also breaks folding @ home client?

Hi,

I've had problems running folding @ home (the beta SMP version) on my
machine lately, and I stumbled across this bug report. I do have
libnss-mdns installed.

Removing mdns4_minimal and mdns4 from the hosts line in
/etc/nsswitch.conf allows folding @ home to run properly.

- fusexmp.c doesn't compile because config.h doesn't exist
- fusexmp_fh.c (and hello_ll.c also?) should be copied into the examples

Bug#423238: Memory leak in fuse

2007-05-10 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: fuse
Version: 2.6.3-4
Severity: normal

There seems to be a memory leak somewhere in fuse. To reproduce:

% cp /usr/share/doc/libfuse-dev/examples/fusexmp.c .
% (remove reference to config.h)
% gcc -Wall `pkg-config fuse --cflags --libs` fusexmp.c -o fusexmp
% mkdir test
% ./fusexmp test
% du -ms test
% watch ps -C fusexmp -o pid,rss,cmd

The resident size of fusexmp continues to grow. Not sure if fuse is
caching something on purpose, or if this is a real leak.

This isn't unique to fusexmp either. The fusexmp_fh example, and sshfs
also do this.

I did find one place where if fuse_do_getattr failed then memory
wouldn't be freed, but this didn't fix my problem.

Bug#421965: gdm: Wishlist: support for warm reboot via kexec, and selecting OS to reboot into

2007-05-02 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: gdm
Version: 2.16.4-1.1
Severity: wishlist

It would be great if gdm could give you the option of rebooting into any
one of the entries defined by grub.

It would also be great if gdm could give you the option of using kexec
to reboot into another linux kernel.

gdm could give you a Reboot Into menu which would list all of the
entries that grub supports, and a cold/warm reboot setting for linux
kernels.

If this functionality was made into a public API then the gnome-panel
Shutdown dialog could support the same options.

Bug#421782: icedove doesn't notice remotely created IMAP folders

2007-05-01 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: icedove
Version: 1.5.0.10.dfsg1-3
Severity: normal

To reproduce:
- Have icedove online and connected to IMAP server
- Create a subfolder of INBOX not using this instance of icedove. I used
squirrelmail to create a new folder.
- icedove doesn't display the new folder in the list of IMAP folders, but
does think it's subscribed when you check the Subscribe dialog.

Right clicking on INBOX and selecting Subscribe..., and expanding the
tree under Inbox will show the new folder. In my case it also showed a
checkbox by it to show that the folder is subscribed to.

I had to unsubscribe from the new folder, click Ok on the Subscribe
dialog, then go back in to re-subscribe in order for icedove to display the
folder in the Folders view.

Bug#378067: bash: redirection section in help should mention the exec builtin

2006-07-12 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: bash
Version: 3.1-5
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

The REDIRECTION section in the bash help should mention that
the exec builtin can make redirections take effect for the
current shell. (e.g. 'exec /tmp/output.log' to redirect all stdout
and stderr for the remainder of the script to /tmp/output.log)

The attached file can go into debian/patches, and should be added to the
list of patches in debian/rules (I added it after man-net-redirections).

Yes, running wpa_supplicant with -D wext works.

Description : evasive module to minimize HTTP DoS or brute force attacks

(from the website:)
mod_evasive is an evasive maneuvers module for Apache to provide evasive
action in the event of an HTTP DoS or DDoS attack or brute force attack.
It is also designed to be a detection and network management tool, and
can be easily configured to talk to ipchains, firewalls, routers, and
etcetera. mod_evasive presently reports abuses via email and syslog
facilities.

Note that a package for apache 1.3.x exists and is called
libapache-mod-dosevasive. This package could be called
libapache2-mod-dosevasive to be consistent?

'delete' should not be a keyword in the php syntax file.

Bug#348871: wxglade script should not try and detect python version

2006-01-23 Thread Chris AtLee
I have both python2.3, and python2.4 installed. python2.4 is my default (/usr/bin/python runs python2.4), and so wxglade does not run even if its dependencies are installed. To my mind there is no reason for the wxglade script to try and detect which version of python is being used if it can't make good use of that information.

Bug#348871: wxglade script should not try and detect python version

2006-01-23 Thread Chris AtLee
Hi Matthias,I realize that I'm somewhat on my own on this one since I have modified my setup. Actually, I just double checked and /usr/bin/python still runs python2.3, but I have ~/bin/python in my PATH before /usr/bin which runs
python2.4. The end effect is the same however.I believe that /usr/bin/wxglade should still be modified however, since it installs its files into /usr/lib/python2.3 and depends on wxpython, which is currently only packaged for
python2.3. It makes no sense to have the wrapper script try and detect the version of python being run if it requires a particular version. What is wrong with /usr/bin/wxglade reading:#!/bin/sh/usr/bin/python2.3 /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/wxglade/wxglade.py $@
Either that or install wxglade files into /usr/lib/site-python, and let the user worry about getting wxpython for python2.4 if they have a modified setup. Thanks,Chris

2006-01-19 Thread Chris AtLee

Severity: normal

The /usr/bin/wxglade shell script should not try and detect which
version of python is being run since the wxglade files are installed
into the python2.3 site-packages directory!

On my system python2.4 is the default version of python, so the shell
script tries to find wxglade in the python2.4 site-packages directory.

If wxglade can work with either python2.3 or python2.4, maybe it should
go in /usr/lib/site-python?

I don't use evolution, I use thunderbird.

beagle shouldn't force users to install libevolution-cil (and therefore
all of evolution). Perhaps it could recommend/suggest libevolution-cil instead?

Bug#336102: par2: It would be nice to be able to specify the total size of recovery size files

2005-10-27 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: par2
Version: 0.4-6
Severity: wishlist

I keep finding myself wanting to create a fixed amount of recovery data,
regardless of the size of the input files.

Unless I'm mistaken, the only way to do that right now is to calculate
the total size of the input files and then pick an appropriate
block-size (-s) that results in less than 32k blocks total, and then specify
some multiple of block-size (-c) to get close to the amount of data I want.

It would be much simplier if I could do something like -M200 to generate
200 MB of recovery data, and par2 would figure out the appropriate block
size and recovery block count.

Bug#335924: slapd upgrade fails on etch (ssl library problem?)

2005-10-26 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: slapd
Version: 2.2.23-8
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

I just tried upgrading slapd from 2.2.23-8 to 2.2.26-4.0, and at the
same time libldap-2.2.7 from 2.2.23-8 to 2.2.26-4.0 and libssl0.9.7 from
0.9.7e-3 to 0.9.7g-5.

The result of this upgrade was that slapd was crashing when trying to
read my SSL certificates, making it completely unusable.

Bug#335785: rhythmbox should save its database at regular intervals

2005-10-25 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: rhythmbox
Version: 0.8.8-13
Severity: wishlist

I've got a script that goes through ~/.gnome2/rhythmbox/rhythmdb.xml to
find my highest rated songs and copies them to my MP3 player.

My problem is I have to quit rhythmbox for any changes (song rating
changes in particular) to get written to disk. It would be nice if
rhythmbox would update that file at semi-regular intervals. Once a
minute or so would be sufficient.

Bug#327902: ufraw: Compiler bug?

2005-10-16 Thread Chris AtLee
Package: ufraw
Version: 0.4+cvs20050818-1
Followup-For: Bug #327902

I believe this is caused by a compiler problem.

The default CFLAGS include -O3 and -O2. When I take out -O3 and -O2
from the compiler flags, ufraw behaves as expected. This is with gcc
4.0.2.

gcc 3.4.5 works as expected with the default CFLAGS.

Stepping through the program (gcc-4.0.2 w/ -O2,-O3), when execution hits
ufraw_exif.c:100, it immediately proceeds to line 264, which is a bit
suspicious...
