Bug#714033: mirrors.163.com: No longer available?

2013-06-24 Thread David M Smith
Package: mirrors
Severity: normal

Hello,

I'm not sure if this is the right place or not to report this problem.

I've been using mirrors.163.com here in Southern China because it's the fastest
official Debian mirror in my area.

Today, it seems to be broken. I checked the URL and it looks like all the
packages are simply gone and replaced with ISO images.

This is my /etc/apt/sources.list:

Bug#711311: tt-rss: Allow selection of update daemon.

2013-06-06 Thread David M Smith
Package: tt-rss
Version: 1.7.8+dfsg-2
Severity: wishlist

tt-rss ships with two update daemons. (http://tt-rss.org/redmine/projects/tt-
rss/wiki/UpdatingFeeds)

One of the daemons runs updates in parallel and so it is better suited for lots
of users / lots of feeds.

It would be nice if the admin could select which update daemon they want to use
when they configure / install tt-rss.

Bug#708127: tt-rss: Please make it easier to block users from using plugins.

2013-05-13 Thread David M Smith
Package: tt-rss
Severity: wishlist

This is a wishlist / would be nice to have.

The plugins for tt-rss are installed into /usr/share/ by default.

Some of the plugins have the potential to put a lot of extra unexpected load on
the server and so some system administrators with a lot of users might not want
to give user's the choice to enable some of them. I'm especially referring to
the plugin that allows tt-rss user's to publicly share a custom built rss feed
with unlimited number of other users from the Internet.

It would be nice if there was a /etc/tt-rss/plugins.allowed and I could just
add/delete symlinks into that folder that point to the actual plugin files at
/usr/share/

Instead, I've resorted to manually moving individual user plugin files out of
their installation locations at /usr/share to block users from being able to
choose them, which is a pretty icky solution because they'll come back
everytime the tt-rss package gets updated. Maybe a better solution would be
just to chmod the plugins I don't want user's to have, but it's possible those
chmodded files could get overwritten with the defaults on a package update as
well, right? Plus the added problem that package updates could bring in new
plugins that I might not want user's to have available to them by default.

Maybe there is a better way of doing this, perhaps adding specific lines into
config.php for each plugin along with a description of the plugin? But that
might be overkill / too much work to maintain.

or perhaps there is a way to do this that tt-rss provides that I'm not aware
of..

Bug#705343: tt-rss: Fails to purge /etc/lighttpd/conf-enabled/50-tt-rss.conf

2013-04-13 Thread David M Smith
Package: tt-rss
Version: 1.7.8+dfsg-1
Severity: important

For some reason, when I try to purge tt-rss, it fails to purge this file.
The tt-rss post installation script then tells the webserver (lighttpd) to
reload it's configuration files. . The webserver finds the /etc/lighttpd/conf-
enabled/50-tt-rss.conf file which still exists and throws an error.

Even worse, I can't reinstall the tt-rss package after this happens.

in order for tt-rss to reinstall.

Bug#705286: tt-rss: Startup fails due to default misconfiguration yourserver

2013-04-12 Thread David M Smith
Package: tt-rss
Version: 1.7.8+dfsg-1
Severity: important

After installing tt-rss with lighttpd on Debian Wheezy, After editing the
config file to turn off disabled as suggested when the package is installed,
the daemon starts and appears to run fine.

However, when I go to http://localhost/tt-rss, I get an error message:

Startup failed

Tiny Tiny RSS was unable to start properly. This usually means a
misconfiguration or an incomplete upgrade. Please fix errors indicated by the
following messages:
Please set SELF_URL_PATH to the correct value for your server (possible value:
http://localhost/tt-rss/)

You might want to check tt-rss wiki or the forums for more information. Please
search the forums before creating new topic for your question.

I wasn't able to resolve this without googling it, but apparently even though
tt-rss is installed properly (with all options telling tt-rss configure that
the database and web server is on the local machine), there is a line in the
configuration file:vim /etc/tt-rss/config.php

define('SELF_URL_PATH', 'http://yourserver/tt-rss/');

This is misconfigured by default. It'd think it should say localhost.
Changing it to localhost and restarting tt-rss fixes the Startup failed
error. Since tt-rss uses /etc/default/tt-rss for enabling/disabling the
program, I'd think after that point it should just work.

Bug#705287: tt-rss: Unable to connect to database (as ttrss to , database ttrss)

2013-04-12 Thread David M Smith
Package: tt-rss
Version: 1.7.8+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

tt-rss installed properly, but I'm getting this message here: http://localhost
/tt-rss/

Unable to connect to database (as ttrss to , database ttrss):

During the tt-rss setup/configuration, I select postgres and told it to connect
through sockets.

When I use the postgres administrator account, I can see a ttrss database in
the postgres database so it clearly installed correctly. The postgres
database is running in the background and I'm able to run queries on it and go
into the ttrss database, so I'm not sure what the issue here is.

Bug#705093: pmacct cannot create postgres table

2013-04-10 Thread David M Smith
Package: pmacct
Version: 0.14.0-1.1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,
*** Please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?
I was following the README and
/usr/share/doc/pmacct/sql/pmacct-create-table_v7.pgsql
throws an error that it cannot create the database table.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?
I tried creating the table manually.

   * What was the outcome of this action?
Didn't work, it appears there is a problem with the table create statement.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?
I expected it to create the table.

Bug#702950: libgcr-3-1 has dependency that isn't installable.

2013-03-13 Thread David M Smith
Package: libgcr-3-1
Version: 3.4.1-3
Severity: important

Hello,
Debian Wheezy (64-bit with multi-arch).

I'm trying to run an application in wine that has some cryptography and I'm
getting the error:

p11-kit: couldn't load module: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-
pkcs11.so: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/pkcs11/gnome-keyring-pkcs11.so: cannot open
shared object file: No such file or directory

Since I'm running 64-bit wheezy, I assume that I need to install gnome-
keyring:i386.

However, gnome-keyring:i386 is not installable because...
libgcr-3-1:i386 : Depends: libgcr-3-common:i386 but it is not installable

I already have libgcr-3-common installed. So I'm not sure why it's depending
on a libgcr-3-common:i386 which does not exist.

Bug#701148: linux-image-3.7-trunk-amd64: Regression - brightness controls do not work.

2013-02-21 Thread David M Smith
Package: src:linux
Version: 3.7.8-1~experimental.1
Severity: important

If I boot the linux-image-3.6-trunk-amd64, the brightness controls work just
fine.

Whenever I boot the linux-image-3.7-trunk-amd64 my Fn+F4 and Fn+F5 brightness
controls on my laptop do not work.

According to xev, the events are getting registered but the brightness of the
LCD screen doesn't change.

Bug#700697: rsync: Man page does not give range or default value for --compress-level

2013-02-16 Thread David M Smith
Package: rsync
Version: 3.0.9-4
Severity: normal

   --compress-level=NUM
Explicitly set the compression level to use (see --compress)
instead of letting it default. If NUM is non-zero, the --compress option is
implied.

There is no descriptions of the compression levels, no range specified, no
reference to which numbers should be used if you want high compression, and no
reference to what the default value is.

Bug#700288: gwenview loses vsync when animations enabled.

2013-02-10 Thread David M Smith
Package: gwenview
Version: 4:4.8.4-2
Severity: normal

I have KWIN enabled with desktop effects (OpenGL + vsync).

1. Open gwenview on a large photo (4k+ resolution).
2. Go into Configure Gwenview
3. Enable software or OpenGL animations.

After that, gwenview loses vsync with the desktop. Panning photos causes the
photos to tear badly near the top.

Workaround: Turn off animations in gwenview.

Bug#699516: keytouch-editor: Segfault when adding ACPI key

2013-02-01 Thread David M Smith
Package: keytouch-editor
Version: 1:3.2.0~beta-3
Severity: important

Hello,

Just bought a new Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition laptop.

Some of the multimedia keys don't work.
I tried using keytouch-editor and it crashes while trying to add the new key.

1. Start keytouch-editor
2. I try some of the devices that have event labels, but none of them respond
to the multimedia keys. I then try ACPI device with a blank event and that
seems to detect the keypress.
3. I click new to add a new key.
4. I press the key I want to map
5. It prompts me for a name
6. I put in equalizer
7. keytouch-editor segfaults.

Bug#699583: reportbug: Should automatically find the package name for a given executable

2013-02-01 Thread David M Smith
Package: reportbug
Version: 6.4.3
Severity: wishlist

if reportbug can't find a package by the name specified, it should check for
packages that contain the executable / file specified..

Example: The user wants to file a bug against a program they know is called
kscreenlocker. However the user doesn't have any packages installed that
correspond to that name. If reportbug queries packages.debian.net then it
could find a list of packages that contain the kscreenlocker executable and
filter it by packages that the user has installed. Then present the user with
a list of suggested packages.

Bug#699584: kscreenunlocker: Can't get back into desktop

2013-02-01 Thread David M Smith
Package: kde-workspace-bin
Version: 4:4.8.4-5
Severity: normal

1. Lock PC and put headphones down on keyboard.
2. Come back to PC 15-20 minutes later.
3. I tried hitting Ctrl + A and delete, but it wasn't responsive. So I clicked
enter.
4. kscreenunlocker freezes the PC for 2+ minutes, buttons and text disappears
from the textbox so you really can't do anything from X.
5. I hit Alt+F1 to switch to a terminal and log in.
6. Saw that kscreenunlocker was using over 90% CPU usage for over 2 minutes on
a Quad-core i7 Processor.

Had to kill kscreenunlocker manually.

This is not the first time this has happened, my cat also likes to sleep on my
laptop's keyboard because it's warm and I'm not able to get back into my
desktop unless I manually kill kscreenunlocker.

Bug#699502: ktouchpadenabler: Only Disables touchpad until touchpad is touched

2013-01-31 Thread David M Smith
Package: ktouchpadenabler
Version: 0.1.1-1
Severity: important

Hello.

I installed ktouchpadenabler from unstable and hoped that I could use it to
capture the XF86TouchpadToggle event from the media keys on my laptop.

When I trigger the touchpad disable, the cursor disappears. However, if I
touch anywhere on the touchpad, it becomes active again. I want to disable
the touchpad until I toggle it enabled again and ktouchpadenabler doesn't seem
to work for that.

Thanks for your time.

Bug#699504: kde-config-touchpad: Does not enable LED when touchpad is disabled.

2013-01-31 Thread David M Smith
Package: kde-config-touchpad
Version: 0.8.1-1
Severity: normal

My laptop has an LED light that is supposed to light up when the touchpad is
disabled.

[8.102613] Registered led device: dell-laptop::touchpad

The LED interface appears to be properly detected by the kernel (3.6 head).

Also, the LED works properly and can be turned on / off by doing this:

Aya:/sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/leds/dell-laptop::touchpad# echo 1
../brightness
Aya:/sys/devices/platform/dell-laptop/leds/dell-laptop::touchpad# echo 0
../brightness

So I believe it's just a matter of getting kde-config-touchpad to use the LED
associated with the touchpad.

2013-01-11 Thread David M Smith
Package: unetbootin
Version: 575-1
Severity: wishlist

It would be very nice if unetbootin would include a drop-down filter option for
ISOs. I always end up having to type in ISO in the filter instead of All
Files to find the ISOs I'm looking for in my downloads directory.
