Bug#1026204: upstream tar bug report

2023-02-16 Thread Efraim Flashner
I came across this bug from Wookey linking to it from the debian-arm
mailing list. I also ran into this bug in Guix and I managed to track
down an upstream bug report about it¹. Short version is that upstream
now knows about it, and tar-1.35 will default to enabling 64-bit time_t.

Bug#1020329: powerpc-utils: Incompatible with usrmerge

2022-09-20 Thread Efraim Flashner
Package: powerpc-utils
Version: 1.3.9-1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: efr...@flashner.co.il

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA512

Dear Maintainer,

pmac-utils provides /sbin/nvsetenv and powerpc-ibm-utils provides
/usr/sbin/nvsetenv, and both packages are depended upon by
powerpc-utils. init-system-helpers now depends on usrmerge, meaning
init-system-helpers can't be updated currently and I'm guessing this
could break new installs for some powerpc platforms.

Dear Maintainer,

In upstream there is now merged support for pinentry with using EFL as the
graphical toolkit. I have been using it on my Debian machine for several
days now and on other machines for months. The attached patch to the
source comes straight from upstream and I put together the Debian bits
based on the other files in the debian/ directory.

Bug#970362: terminology prints backtrace on startup on ppc

Dear Maintainer,

I tried rebuilding terminology from the salsa respository and installing
that version of terminology and terminology-data. I got the same
backtrace when I launched that version after installing it.

I did not try rebuilding EFL to see if that made a difference.

Currently the homepage line for kdeconnect is:

However, this returns a 404 error from KDE. A quick search on their page
returns this page:

With a stock KDE page, listing a wordpress site
(http://albertvaka.wordpress.com/) from the creator as the homepage, and
links to news, repository, etc.

Bug#796578: [translate-shell] license change

2015-08-22 Thread Efraim Flashner
Package: translate-shell
Version: 0.8.23-1

Two items:
The current upstream version of translate-shell is 0.9.0.7, and the version
in sid currently doesn't return translations.

Second: The license of the program has switched to public domain, so the
package can/should be moved from contrib to main.

Bug#764349: [apt-file] failure with tor+http

2014-10-07 Thread Efraim Flashner
Package: apt-file
Version: 2.5.3
Severity: normal

--- Please enter the report below this line. ---

when /etc/apt/sources.list is configured with tor+http in the uri,
there is no rule listed in /etc/apt-file.conf to parse the uri to send
the request either through regular http (likely undesired) or through
tor. I tried adding the line `tor+http = diffindex-download -i
"http://dists//Contents-.gz" /` (copied from
the http entry) but it spit out the error `W: Don't know how to handle
tor+http`

Bug#758856: apt-build: repository error when multiarch is enabled

2014-08-22 Thread Efraim Flashner
Package: apt-build
Version: 0.12.44
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

When installing apt-build, it automatically adds the repository to
sources.list.d/, but with multiarch apt spits out errors on the repository.
the default entry for apt-build.list is:
deb file:/var/cache/apt-build/repository apt-build main

when modified to:
deb [arch=amd64] file:/var/cache/apt-build/repository apt-build main
this takes care of the errors (amd64 being `dpkg --print-architecture')

Bug#757091: debdelta: stops patching if downloads are interrupted

2014-08-05 Thread Efraim Flashner
Package: debdelta
Version: 0.50+2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I was running my daily "apt update; debdelta-upgrade -v" on a flakey
connection. Partway through, while downloading some of the larger
deltas and patching other debs, my connection went out and debdelta
exited.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Fail the remaining downloads but continue patching the other debs
