I upgraded to 5.9.15-1. It doesn't work in a different way:
1. There is no error in dmesg.
2. Monitor seems to go offline - it is blank

But,
1. All fans are still spining
2. Power button on komputer is backlit as it was powered-on.

Bug#978758: linux-image-5.5.0-0.bpo.2-amd64: Fails to suspend with „Some devices failed to suspend, or early wake event detected”

Dear Maintainer,

When I invoke suspend using:
# systemctl suspend
machine starts suspending but after turning off monitor and disks spinning, it
wakes up again.
It used to work on the same machine - I'm not sure after which upgrade it
failed.

In dmesg -T I have:

Bug#834748: libreoffice-gtk3: Main menus overlap

I have checked that with
$ gtk-query-settings 2>/dev/null|grep gtk-theme-name
It seems that I had gtk-theme-name: "Clearlooks-Phenix"

So I changed it to gtk-theme-name: "Adwaita" in .config/gtk-3.0/settings.ini
And it looks normally.

So it seems that this is a problem with package clearlooks-phenix-theme. Could
you please reassign this bug to this package.

I installed it because I want it to look and behave like gtk3 application.
That is probably the only reason it exists.

Doesn't make much sense. It is mate/gnome that depends on gtk not the opposite.

Bug#836767: libreoffice-calc: Slow rendering of UI

2016-09-05 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: libreoffice-calc
Version: 1:5.2.0-2
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm running libreoffice-calc 5.2.0-2 it is really slow on my machine.
Opening new empty spreadsheet takes around 2seconds. I can see how each
row is rendering, and how they appear one by one on screen one-by-one.

My cpu is Xeon 4x3.1GHz, gfx-card GeForce GT 610. Other applications
works smooth.

I was trying default UI, gtk2, and gtk3 on each version rendering is
similar slow

Bug#763288: geeqie: almost no mouse or keyboard-response in fullscreen mode

2014-10-26 Thread Emil Nowak

In my opinion mouse wheel issue on fullscreen is not fixed in geeqie
1:1.2-3+b1.
In previous version mouse wheel in fullscreen mode was changing images
forward/backward. In current version it does nothing.

Muse wheel works only if I hold CTRL and scroll mouse wheel, then it scrolls
image - that is fine, but it is some other functionality.

 It is a module in systemsettings (advanced task scheduler)

But I don't use KDE, and so I don't have the systemsettings and advanced

I think we should at least update or remove the

I don't know - I never needed those keys in kdm/gdm screen.

 Yes, I don't see how this could have ever worked for you. Looking at a
 Etch system, I can't find anything related to Xmodmap in the scripts
 that are loaded when opening a new session.

 Are you sure you weren't running xmodmap manually in your .xsession file
 or so? Or maybe you add something in /etc/X11/Xsession ?
It's hard to say - this system was installed 5 or 7 years ago. Maybe I modified
some Xsession script few years ago and I don't remember that.
If you think ~/.Xmodmap should not be loaded automatically please close this
bug.

Bug#463682: x11-xserver-utils: xmodmap defalt preferences file is not loaded at startup

2008-02-02 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: x11-xserver-utils
Version: 7.3+2
Severity: normal

I always had a mapping for my custom keys in ~/.Xmodmap and every time I
started Xserver using startx or GDM or KDM all my customized keyboard keys
were working perfectly.

Few x11-server versions ago (I don't remember extracly which one) It stopped
working. I just read manual page for xmodmap (1) and it mentions file named
.xmodmaprc. I made a copy of my old .Xmodmap with new name (.xmodmaprc)
but after restarting Xserver nothing happend.

I know that manual doesn't say that it will load such configuration
automatically. Maybe some xinit-scripts should do this - so maybe this bug
should be reassigned to something else.

Anyway the point is: That it was working and now it doesn't.

Bug#462694: gimp: changing layer opacity uses too much CPU power

2008-01-26 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: gimp
Version: 2.4.3-1
Severity: normal

If you make a copy of current layer and try to change opacity of it. You will
notice that with version 2.4.3-1 this operation is much much slower that in
2.3.* version.
I don't know how to measure it, but the difference is so big that you can
simply see it by scrolling/changing opacity value. In my opinion it is like
~10 times slower that in 2.3 version.

I have just downgraded to:
gimp 2.3.19-1, and here it works great. So definitely this is not a gtk bug
or sth.

Bug#451044: pgadmin3: Enter key from num-pad doesn't save data in table-View

2007-11-12 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: pgadmin3
Version: 1.4.3-2.1

When you are editing some data in table normal big enter key saves data in
edited cell and moves to next one.
But if you hit enter key from num-pad then modifed data is not saved. Row seems
to be modifed, cursor is moved to
another cell, but nothing is acutally saved to database.

IMHO Both enter keys should have the same functionality.
If you wan't the numPad Enter to have 'cancel functionality' then viewed data
should be reveterted to it's orignal state

Bug#433195: libxmlrpc-c3-dev: libxmlrpc_cpp.so file is missing or xmlrpc-c-config is generating wrong ouput for linker

2007-07-15 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: libxmlrpc-c3-dev
Version: 0.9.10-4
Severity: normal

When you try to build example from
/usr/share/doc/libxmlrpc-c3-dev/examples/meerkat-app-list.cc
with linker flags as described in overview.txt:
CLIENT_LIBS=`xmlrpc-c-config c++ libwww-client --libs`
You will get a lot of undefined symbols
meerkat-app-list.cc:(.text+0x149): undefined reference to
`XmlRpcValue::makeStruct()'
meerkat-app-list.cc:(.text+0x15f): undefined reference to
`XmlRpcValue::makeInt(int)'
[...] and so on...
$ xmlrpc-c-config is generating -lxmlrpc_cpp flag but there is no
/usr/lib/libxmlrpc_cpp.so file, and that's why it probably fails.

You can always build it that way:
$ g++ libwww-client --libs` meerkat-app-list.o /usr/lib/libxmlrpc_cpp.a -o test

So I think that xmlrpc-c-config should not put this -lxmlrpc_cpp in LDFLAGS
or there should be appropriate *.so library provided.

Bug#426366: postgresql-8.2: upper(), lower(), and ilike are broken on UNICODE databases

 Emil, are you sure you were connected to right database when running

 I have been having major problems with this bug in version pg 8.1.*, but
 I think it has been fixed in 8.2.
Yes - it was the right database.

 See the results of my tests:
Because your results were different I started to investigate problem on my

Probably something was wrong main cluster. I made a backup of my databases,
then removed postgress server with purge. Then I installed it once again, and
recovered databases from backup. Now it works.

This server was few times upgraded from 7.x version. So I guess something went
wrong in pg_upgradecluster during one of previous upgrades.

I will close this bug right now.
Thanks for help.

I think a better test for this is:
testy= select 'ı' ilike upper('ı');

I don't know what is this i without a dot, but It seems for me like a bug.
Maybe this 'ı' letter exists only in lowercase version?

In Helath catagery in last tab we have button called Click here for more
information. When I click it it try's to launch gnome-www-browser. I have
the following message on txt-console when click this button:
sh: gnome-www-browser: command not found

I have checked it with:
$ strings /usr/bin/mysql-admin |grep gnome
and it seems to be hardcoded here.

It should call x-www-browser instead of this.

Hello,
I cannot reproduce this with current KDE (3.5.7-1) and current xine-ui
(0.99.5-2). Maybe you had some special settings in kwin. Some auto-focus, and
raise on focus and maybe something else...

Maybe You should try creating new user, and then testing this bug on clean
KDE configuration.

And now I have this files here
~$ find /usr/ -name .dhelp |wc -l

And those files do not belong to any package.
~$ dpkg -S /usr/share/doc/libgtkmm-2.4-doc/.dhelp
dpkg: /usr/share/doc/libgtkmm-2.4-doc/.dhelp not found.

First of all those files should be removed by some postrm script.

And probably keeping this files here is against Filesystem Hierarchy Standard I
guess they should be in some /var/cache or sth.

Bug#428807: linux-image-2.6.21-1-powerpc: keyboard and touchpad doesn't work

2007-06-14 Thread Emil Nowak
After booting up, and ssh'ing from other machine I discovered that 2.6.18 (one
with working keyboard) has two additional modules loaded:
usbcore and ohci_hcd.

In config-2.6.21-1-powerpc those modules are marked as Y, so I guess this is
not a problem here.

I was trying manually loading and unloading every module from drivers/input,
but it doesn't help

Usb keyboard doesn't work, but after connecting it there is some response in
kernel.log
: usb 3-1: new low speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 7
: usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
: input: HID 046a:0013 as /class/input/input3
: input: USB HID v1.10 Keyboard [HID 046a:0013] on usb-0001:10:1b.1-1

: input: USB HID v1.10 Device [HID 046a:0013] on usb-0001:10:1b.1-1

other usb-devices like mp3-player are working correctly on this kernel.

 update-gconf-defaults as well.
arghh... there is another script. I will try to do this later.

Bug#426366: postgresql-8.2: upper(), lower(), and ilike are broken on UNICODE databases

2007-05-28 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: postgresql-8.2
Version: 8.2.4-1
Severity: normal

When I try to use upper(), lower(), or ILIKE on UNICODE databases results
are incorrect. For example:

testy-utf=# select upper('Żółć'), lower('Żółć');
 upper | lower
---+---
 ūãłć  |
(1 row)

And now the same thing on database with LATIN2 encoding (here we have correct
results):
testy=# select upper('Żółć'), lower('Żółć');
 upper | lower
---+---
 ŻÓŁĆ  | żółć
(1 row)

I have the same problem when using psql command line utility, and pgadmin3 and
JDBC driver.

2007-03-27 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: dpkg-dev

When you try --help switch you will get something like this:

$ dpkg-buildpackage --help
Usage: dpkg-buildpackage [options ...]

Options:

Of curse this question about passphrase for gpg key is not useful here.

And btw:
It would be nice If we could see help output when current dir!=sources dir.
Now when I try to see help, and my current directory is home dir
dpkg-builpackage displays only this warning:
~$ dpkg-buildpackage --help
 dpkg-parsechangelog: error: cannot open debian/changelog to find format: No
such file or directory
 dpkg-buildpackage: cannot determine name of current package

I would be nice to see help messages in every directory.

It was just the simplest answer to your question. Can you please give me some

 Also, i'm not going to ask you stuff further in case you're not willing to
 cooperate; i'm going to ask you stuff from now on on this bug and expect
 some reply to it; if you don't care about it (BMPx), which is a slight
 undertone in your last statement(s), then please say so now, otherwise:
You know... It's hard to say If I care about BMPx: First I need to

 Can you give more information about your system configuration? (Soundcard,
 etc?)
here is lspci output:
Creative Labs SB Live! EMU10k1 (rev 08)
And it uses normal Alsa modules from 2.6.18 kernel.

 How are other apps configured to use ALSA? What is the device name (ALSA
 device name, like hw:1,0 or hw:0,0, etc), they use?

in xine, xmms, BMP, audacious, mplayer alsa device is named default, but I
can change it to hw:0,0 and they can still play music. There is also hw:0,2
and hw:0,3 - but there is no sound when playing with those devices.

Bug#397489: gtimer: crashes at startup

 If you could do that build with debugging symbols, that would be greatly
 appreciated. Running it under valgrind may also help; I think valgrind
 exists for PowerPC now.
When I run gtimer from package in valgrid it doesn't crash.

But more interesting happened when I recompiled gtimer with -g3 flag: It
doesn't crash at all.

Bug#389151: Ctrl+S/Ctrl+F - searching page context does nothing

Package: devhelp
Version: 0.12-2
Severity: normal

When I'm reading some page sometimes I need to search it context for specific
string. In devhelp 0.12 this function doesn't work. I remember that it was
working before (maybe in 0.11) there was something like Ctrl+F.

There is Ctrl+S in Go-Search but it's for searching index files not current
page content.

I will start downgrading devhelp - it's getting worse with every new relase :-(

I don't know why it happens that way. Maybe this are some callback called

At least I have libacairo from .deb package - I have just compared md5sum from

 I suggest you have some other corruption going on, outside cairo.

 Try valgrind or some other test, build debug libraries.
Ok here comes the valgrind output. Surprisingly it seems to crash on something

Bug#384660: Acknowledgement (xnc: expanding directories from .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .deb archives doesn't work)

2006-08-26 Thread Emil Nowak
Okii So I figured out how it works.

First we need to patch file in src/xsetup/files.tar.dir/data/*
There are just definitions for tar, gzip, bzip how to extract archives.

It can be fixed by attached patch afs_tar_patch.diff

Then we have another problem those definitions are are stored in
src/xsetup/sfiles.c file which is auto-generated. You need to call
makeconfigdirs from this directory to regenerate sfiles.c
Unfortunately shell script makeconfigdirs needs xnc-5.0.4/bin/data2c program,
and this dependency is not handled bu autotools.

So I make some workaround for this in debian/rules:
First we build everything including src/helpers/* and we get - bin/data2c
Then we regenerate sfiles.c, to get xnsetup, so we can finish building package.

Attached in patch debian_rules.diff
diff -ur xnc-5.0.4.orig/src/xsetup/files.tar.dir/data/xnc.afs.tar112 xnc-5.0.4/src/xsetup/files.tar.dir/data/xnc.afs.tar112

Bug#384660: xnc: expanding directories from .tar.gz, .tar.bz2, .deb archives doesn't work

2006-08-25 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: xnc
Version: 5.0.4-2.1
Severity: normal

to extract directory from tar archive xnc is using something like that:
gzip -c -f -d /home/emil/examplearchive.tar.gz | tar -xf - exampledir/\\*
It works for tar 1.15.1, but doesn't work fur current package in sid (tar
1.15.91-2).

To make it working with this version of tar we need to add --wildcards
argument. And after modyfing those three methods in ~/.xnc/xnc.afs:

single_ex: bzip2 -c -d archive | tar --wildcards -xf - file;
single_ex: gzip -c -f -d archive | tar --wildcards -xf - file;
single_ex: dpkg-deb --fsys-tarfile archive | tar --wildcards -xf - file;

it works again.

However I don't know how to make those changes in upstream package. This
~/.xnc/afs.xnc is generated when you run xnc for the first time. and all
files in xnc-5.0.4/other/xncafs* are different from those newly-generated
file.

2006-08-14 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: libcairo2

I'm using ssh X11Forwarding to run applications remotely from other machines.
As long as I remember it worked well.

But with the current libairo every gtk application crashes on startup on
cairo_xlib_surface_get_display().

When I downgrade to 1.2.0 everything works fine.

Bug#382669: gconf2: maintainer scripts introduce new dependencies

2006-08-12 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: gconf2
Version: 2.14.0-4
Severity: normal

Normally upstream package of gvonf2 doesn't depend on python. In all other
distributions gconf2 also doesn't depend on python.

But in debian we have gconf-schemas script which is written in python, and
so all programs that need gconf now automatically depend on python.

I'm not sure but IMHO such new dependencies should be against debian policy.
What if libc6 guys decide to write some post-install script-helper with
JavaBeanShell ?

Bug#379746: sylpheed-claws-gtk2: all popup windows should be TRANSIENT windows

2006-07-25 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: sylpheed-claws-gtk2
Version: 2.3.1cvs84-1
Severity: normal

Right now all child-windows of sylpheed claws appear in random positions.

Some windows like preferences window, new-email window are placed in the
center of the screen. This is usually good if you have main window maximized.

Some windows like Help-About, and this window with progress bar are placed in
non controlled way, and this looks ugly.

I was checking almost all SC windows with:
$ xprop |grep TRANSIENT
and It seems that Transient is not used at all.

There are ready to use methods for this in gtk and they should be used for all
SC windows.

Bug#379302: yelp: It doesn't show some manual pages

Package: yelp
Version: 2.14.2-2
Severity: normal

I have to check some methods of std::string (thats a manual page from
libstdc++6-doc package).
when i type std::string in search box in yelp_2.14 I get a lot of other
links insetead the correct one.

I can run juest
$ pinfo std::string
and It shows me what I needed

I can do the same in konqueror typing main:/std::string in the address field.

I also have old yelp_2.4 on the other machine (the lastest
usable version of this progam), and even here typing std::string
takes my directly to the right manual page.

Why the newer version is broken ?

Bug#379315: yelp: manuals in the see also section are not displayed as links

Almost on every manual page there is See Also section where we have links to
some other manuals.
Of couse in yelp_2.14 this doesn't work like links - it's just plain text.
It's hard to find some other program without this functionality.

Again this thing was working in old version of yelp (for example in 2.4), but
it's broken as usual.

As a quick-fix users can download it and execute following command:
# msgfmt coreutils-5.96.pl.po -o /usr/share/locale/pl/LC_MESSAGES/coreutils.mo

..and all coreutils messages will be readable.

 contents of HTML/debian/index.html? Are there links in that file? Do they
 work?
Mhm I don't know what which one is debian link.

 OK. Do you have doc-base installed? If not, can you try installing it and
 checking the HTML directory. If it's still empty, just run again dhelp_parse

Bug#369270: tomcat5-webapps: working servlet examples are different than those in documentation

2006-05-28 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: tomcat5-webapps
Version: 5.0.30-9
Severity: minor

When viewing documentation through tomcat, we have a nicely colorued
servlet examples.
I found that RequestHeader example is different in documentation, and
different in real.

This documentation is by default on:
http://localhost:8180/servlets-examples/reqheaders.html
and file is in:
/var/lib/tomcat5/webapps/servlets-examples/reqheaders.html

and when you click the execute button, above the example, the result is a bit
different that expected.

The real source of this file is in:
/var/lib/tomcat5/webapps/servlets-examples/WEB-INF/classes/RequestHeaderExample.java

It seems that there are old exmamples in colorful html, and different in real
classes. Aren't they automaticly generated?

Bug#368144: libgtk2.0-doc: the gettext related FAQ section, doesn't have encoding issue described

2006-05-19 Thread Emil Nowak
Package: libgtk2.0-doc
Version: 2.8.17-2
Severity: normal

in the faq:
/usr/share/doc/libgtk2.0-doc/gtk/gtk-question-index.html
in secion 1.7, we have described inrenatiolization of gtk-based programs.

However the most important (IMHO) thing, about gtk-specyfic things is missing
here.

gtk uses unicode for all strings, and so we need to call:
bind_textdomain_codeset(PACKAGE, UTF-8);

If you don't do this all non-ascii characters from *.mo files will produce
FATAL worning, and they will be wrongly displayed.

This should be mentioned here in this section.

Bug#366253: libgtk2.0-0: Windows created by gtk-apps don't have Transient property

On 2006-05-06 (Sat), at 16:13:56 Emil Nowak wrote:

 Current GTK version does not set the WM_TRANSIENT_FOR hint for windows.
Oki, I have just investigated this problem, and I realized that the second
argument I was passing to gtk_set_trasient_for was not a valid GtkWindow*.

But usually all gtk methods have some checking for arguments. It seems that
this function doesn't have.

I have checked the gt sources and in gtkwindow.c, at the begging of this
function, there is a checking like this:
g_return_if_fail (parent == NULL || GTK_IS_WINDOW (parent));

but it never fails whatever you pass as parent.

The attached example shows the problem.#include gtk/gtk.h

int main(int argc, char **argv) {
	gtk_init(argc, argv);

	GtkWidget *first_win  = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL);

	GtkWidget *second_win = gtk_window_new(GTK_WINDOW_TOPLEVEL);

	GtkWidget *nothing = NULL;
	/* That's a check from libgtk*/
	g_return_if_fail (nothing == NULL || GTK_IS_WINDOW (nothing));
	/* and there is no warning when passign nothig as second argument */
	gtk_window_set_transient_for(GTK_WINDOW(second_win), GTK_WINDOW(nothing));

	/* of course the below line works. */
	//gtk_window_set_transient_for(GTK_WINDOW(second_win), GTK_WINDOW(first_win));

	gtk_widget_show(first_win);
	gtk_widget_show(second_win);

	gtk_main();
