Bug#781532: Info received (keycodes wrong)
skimming through the manpage, I found out this trick: If you have trouble with some keys not working, try setting the keymaps on both systems to be the same using setxkbmap. That actually solved my issue, in my case having the same: $ setxkbmap -query rules: evdev model: pc105 layout: be,es,jp on both machines. Bug#781532: keycodes wrong
I also confirm the bug. Checking keycodes sent/received with ev, I get that a keycode 11 or 12 sent with the 'to' keyboard are seen as keycode 77 on the 'from' desktop. Letter keys (a-z) usually work fine, but 1-9 are totally messed up. Both to and from machines run Debian stretch with amd64 arch. Greetings, -- Eric
Bug#876501: Fixed in buster
After testing I can confirm the patch I mentioned before has been applied and the bug fixed in version 2:1.19.5-1 -- Eric

I still don't know why GTK goes looking for its loaders under /usr/lib32, which it would only do if you were running i386 binaries on an otherwise amd64 system. I don't think you're doing that here, or are you? Looks like a broken system to me. AFAIK, there's nothing in that system that comes from amd64. As the libcpanplus-perl package was never part of a stable release and was removed from Debian in 2005 (see #292754), I'm downgrading the severity. Hm, I should also have mentioned that you should be able to fix this just by removing libcpanplus-perl. The CPANPLUS module is included with the Perl core since 5.9.5. Yes, that's what I did, I dpkg'd -r libcpanplus-perl Thanks for being so prompt to reply. -- Eric -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hi, I just got this message. Since I haven't seen the previous ones can anyone give me details ? Are you trying to use crafty books with another chess engine ? I packaged some opening books for Debian to be used with crafty. AFAICT, there are no copyrights over chess moves (it would be like trying to copyright football goals). If there were that'd be a great problem for all tournament chess players: if one wanted to play one particular variant of an opening during a match, he'd first write the author to have his permission and/or pay rights to play such variant... -- Eric VAN BUGGENHAUT [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". My problem was (and is) that "vsound --file xyz " runs the command, but doesn't leave any files behind when it exits. Something in the manual to explain that the file name must end in one of a list of strings (which will determine the format used) would clarify why vsound doesn't work, but I'd prefer it if vsound did something more useful in such cases. The bug report I gave was based on a misinterpretation of how to generalise the example in the manual. -- yours etc., Kieron Dunbar - End forwarded message - -- Eric VAN BUGGENHAUT [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Each qsynth engine instance MUST be setup with exact sample-rate value as the JACK server is running. Unless qsynth is hacked and ask itself on libjack which sample-rate is due, thus turning into another redundant dependency which I'll regret. As from fluidsynth, there's currently no way to change the sampling rate of the synthesizer after it's been created. The sample-rate of the synthesizer engine (synth.sample-rate) is the fludisynth setting which is accessible on the qsynth setup dialog. The jack sample-rate is specified on jackd command-line. Users should then watch on the qsynth messages window and check whether the following warning is issued: Jack sample rate mismatch, expect tuning issues (synth.sample-rate=44100, jackd=48000) This warning message is issued when any of the fluidsynth engines are set with disparate sample-rate from the jackd one. Users are urged to get back to the qsynth engine setup dialog and set the audio sample-rate accordingly. The new setting will force the restart of the fluidsynth engine, hopefully with matching sample-rates. OTOH it will be preserved and there's no need to change it next time qsynth is ran. Bug#248232: Debian bug #248232 in vsound package
Hi, Sorry for coming back to you so late. I'm cleaning up vsound's bug list and would like to know if your problem is still present: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=248232 OTOH, the parameter you refer to in your bug report doesn't exist AFAICT, sox chooses the output format depending on the output file extension. So no parameter should be passed to sox. Can you tell me what parameter exactly you'd like to see passed to sox ? Thanks. -- "Un disco para gobernarlos a todos. Bug#362613: qsynth's sample rate vs. jack's
Hi, I maintain the Debian package of qsynth in the official Debian repository. One of our users came with the request that the Sample rate be automatically disabled when jackd driver is used. More of this in the bug report: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=362613 This feature makes sense to me but outpasses my maintainer's duties, so I'll tag it as 'upstream' and kindly ask you to implement it. Whether or not fluidsynth plays a role there isn't that relevant. The bug report is about whether there are free sound fonts available to use with fluidsynth. As soon as we discover that the user can create his own sound fonts, it becomes pointless to state that fluidsynth depends on non-free sound fonts. -- Eric VAN BUGGENHAUT [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Hi Guenter, I hope you're fine, it's been a long time since we met in Barcelona, years ago... Are you still there ? I'm dealing with bug #385665 and your help would be greatly appreciated. Someon is requesting to move fluidsynth from main/ to contrib/ arguing that 'fluidsynth needs non-free midi sound bank to function'. The argument really is that there aren't free SF2 files available out there. I could found lots of them but it wasn't sufficient apparently. I desperately tried to demonstrate that in any case the sound banks you use with fluidsynth may be copyrighted or not and this shouldn't make fluidsynth depend on free/non-free packages... Anyway, I have one question that could solve the problem quickly: is it possible to create SF2 files with swami from scratch ? Just a plain sine wave ? If swami is really able to make use of fluidsynth without the need for any external sound banks, then this would seem to be a cut-and-dried case. Can you please step me through how I would do that? I can't see anywhere that swami lets me create sound fonts from scratch, and I don't see any documentation within the app about what format a sample needs to be in for me to import it? There are no free > sample banks in SF2 format that I'm aware of. If you aren't aware of any free sample bank, this doesn't mean they don't exist... Anyway the SF2 format itself isn't patented, so you can always create your own sound banks. There are free apps that let you do that, say swami. Whether or not the sound banks you find on internet are copyrighted isn't related in any way with the dependencies of the fluidsynth package. If you want to do a parallel, we could talk about xpdf package, and you'd say "hey all texts in pdf I find on the internet are copyrighted, so xpdf should move to non-free". This doesn't make much sense, does it ? If you agree with me, I think you could close this bug. There's already been discussion about that bug which IMHO isn't a security hole. I disagree with the people who tagged that bug 'security' but I won't start a tag war either. I still wait someone explains me what this bug exaclty compromises, except losing your slashdot password, which in the worst case would lead to someone faking your id in a thread and compromise your karma. I looked for the first for several hours but didn't find it, looks like you're more apt at maintaining that package than I am. So, yes, adopt it if you feel so. Bug#383211: phpmyadmin: Can't access init webpage. Says: cannot load MySQL extension, please check PHP Configuration
Package: phpmyadmin Version: 4:2.8.2-0.1 Severity: important I'm unable to use phpmyadmin. When accessing the webpage I get the error mentioned above. This is weird, since I have mysql extensions actually installed on the machine (php4-mysql). Watching the logs I can see apache is looking for the extensions at the wrong place: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php5/20051025/mysql.so' - /usr/lib/php5/20051025/mysql.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory in Unknown on line 0 Why is PHP trying to load php5's mysql extensions when I have php4's installed ? Redefining extension_dir in /etc/php5/cgi/php.ini doesn't help either. Setting it to extension_dir = "/usr/lib/php4/20050606/" gives another error: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library '/usr/lib/php4/20050606/mysql.so' - /usr/lib/php4/20050606/mysql.so: undefined symbol: empty_string in Unknown on line 0 Installing php5-mysql solves the problem.
