Bug#1014058: exim4-daemon-heavy: please compile with SPF and DMARC support

2022-06-29 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: exim4-daemon-heavy
Version: 4.94.2-7
Severity: wishlist

It should be useful if the binary package exim4-daemon-heavy could be
compiled to include SPF and DMARC support internally.

The current Debian config uses an external script for SPF checks on
received mail, but I'd like to be able to use the internal capabilities
in EXIM itself for SPF and DMARC checks.

This requires to include SUPPORT_SPF=yes and SUPPORT_DMARC in the
makefile, and of course it should probably be done only for the heavy
version of the Exim daemon.

Thanks

Bug#943402: I have the same issue

2020-03-25 Thread Fabio Muzzi

I have exactly the same issue. Found it while trying to use Festival
with Asterisk.

If I use the italian voice I get the same error, and if I use the
english voice it works flawlessly.

Steps to reproduce:

install festlex-ifd and its dependencies.

run festival with italian language:

festival --server -b --language italian

Try to use the Festival function in Asterisk

You will get no audio and festival will print an error that states
"SIOD ERROR: wrong type of argument to get_c_utt"

After that, no usb device work unless I rmmod and then modprobe again the
module ehci_hcd.

This behaviour began some months ago (Maybe a kernel update, but I am not sure
because I do not always disconnect and connect usb disks). The mainboard is an
Intel Server board S1200BTSR. I cannot do many tests on this computer because
it is a production server.

If the ehci driver does not crash, of after having reloaded the module after a
crash, the USB disk works flawlessly even under intense load (rsync of 2TB of
data).

I have tried swapping USB cable, I have tried using a different USB port, and
also swapping USB drive (I have 4 of them, same model and maker) to no avail.
Issue remains.

I have googled a little and found that this behaviour is not new, it happened
in 2.6 kernels too. I have found a bug report from RedHat that refers to issues
after hibernation and resume, but this is not the case because this is a server
and is never hibernated.

Bug#661487: samba: Setting file attributes when dos filemode=yes and user is not owner of file causes stale lock.

2012-02-27 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: samba
Version: 2:3.5.6~dfsg-3squeeze6
Severity: important
Tags: upstream

This bug seems to be exactly the same as bug 7892 from Samba bugzilla, even if
it seems to be resolved in 3.4 and 3.5 at the end of year 2010.

Link to Samba bugzilla: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7892

When using dos filemode=yes, if a user that is not the owner of a file on the
samba share (but has the right to change its attributes because of the
directive dos filemode=yes) actually changes attributes to a file, then a
stale lock appears on that file, that prevents any modification to that file.
This lock remains present until the client that caused it disconnects or the
process responsible for it (on the samba server) is killed. Please read the
linked bug report on Samba bugzilla for a complete description of the issue.

The stale lock looks like this in smbstatus:

Locked files:
Pid UidDenyMode Access R/WOplock
SharePath Name Time
--
283761000 DENY_NONE 0x82WRONLY NONE
/ud0/discone appunti kiss.txt Mon Feb 27 14:58:25 2012

I have run the tests in two different environments, with Win XP pro 32 bit and
Win 7 home clients, and the bug is 100% reproducible. Servers are both Debian
Squeeze 64 bit.

Bug#661487: Reported because of I thought it should be fixed

2012-02-27 Thread Fabio Muzzi

Dear Christian,

I have reported this bug because I believed it to be a regression, maybe
in the Debian version only, of a bug that was fixed upstream more than
one year ago. So I thought maybe it's a Debian-specific bug, somehow
the patch that Samba applied a year ago did not make it into Debian.

And anyway, I think it's a good idea to fix this bug in Squeeze, because
even if it's not a security bug, it's quite crippling expecially for
exotic software packages (complex CAD propgrams for example) that tend
to trigger it a lot on shared library files, for example.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Bug#637570: asterisk: Voicemail promts for italian language not found, english used instead

2011-08-12 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: asterisk
Version: 1:1.6.2.9-2+squeeze3
Severity: normal

Asterisk 1.6.2 from Debian Squeeze, even with italian propmt files installed
(package is asterisk-prompt-it), fails to prononunce numbers in italian
language.

How to reproduce:

Dial into voicemail, enter menu, listen to the voice that says you have X
messages (in italian!) and you will hear the text in italian, but the numbers
in english. In console, with the appropriate verbose level, you will see that
language is properly selected, as follows:

-- SIP/11-000e Playing 'vm-youhave.gsm' (language 'it')
-- SIP/11-000e Playing 'digits/8.gsm' (language 'it')
-- SIP/11-000e Playing 'vm-nuovi.gsm' (language 'it')
-- SIP/11-000e Playing 'vm-messages.gsm' (language 'it')

Anyway, the number 8 (in this example) is prononunced in English.

How to fix:

If you copy all of the audio files from /usr/share/asterisk/sounds/digits/it to
/usr/share/asterisk/sounds/digits (that is, from the it directory to the
previous directory) then Asterisk will find them and use them.

I suppose that the voicemail application fails to add it (or any other
language string) when opening number files, so copying them out of the it
directory makes it work. Clearly this workaround does not allow to use more
than one language.

Bug#551106: exim4-daemon-heavy: exim segfaults with dovecot auth

2009-10-15 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: exim4-daemon-heavy

I have just set up exim4 to authenticate using Dovecot on two servers. Both are
64 bit, both use the same version of Exim4 and Dovecot (the latest up to date
in Debian) and the configuration is the same for both Dovecot and Exim.

While one works, the other segfaults sistematically when I try to use the
dovecot authentication for SMTP sessions. If I use another auth method, it
works.

This is an example SMTP session as seen from the client:

If I shut down Dovecot, so that the auth socket is not available, then Exim
answers with a 435 Unable to authenticate at present at the auth cram-md5
command, and does not crash.

So, as far as I can tell, Exim crashes after connecting to Dovecot and before
asking me for a username. I have tried also other auth methods (plain, login)
and all of them crash the same way, when I use the dovecot driver.

This is the relevant Exim4.conf part:

==
dovecot_cram:
   driver = dovecot
   public_name = CRAM-MD5
   server_socket = /var/run/dovecot/auth-client
   server_set_id = $auth1
==

I'm baffled. I'll try to run the dovecot authenticator on more servers (all of
them are configured the same way, but with different hardware) later and report
back.

Bug#520012: samba: net rpc vampire sets wrong passwords for machine accounts

2009-03-16 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: samba
Version: 2:3.2.5-4
Severity: important

I am setting up a PDC with Lenny, and i have tried to run a net rpc vampire
against a NT4 PDC. The vampire process seems to fail to get machine account
passwords, even if it gets the machine accounts themselves (the entries get
created properly in /etc/passwd and in samba auth database).

The result is that if I want to make the clients connect to the domain after
switching to the new DC (Samba) I have to rejoin every client to the domain,
which is impossibile since we have more than 150 clients here.

I have searched for this bug, and found something on the Samba list (the url of
a copy of the messages is here:
http://www.nabble.com/net-rpc-vampire-in-release-3.2.x-td19180372.html) even if
it is not clear about which version they are talking about.

I have searched for the bug on the Samba bug tracking system, but I came up
with only this: https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5722. The problem
seems to be the same, but no solution.

This bug makes it impossibile to use the net rpc vampire command at all.

I will attach later the output of the vampire command, separated in two files,
standard output and standard error. You will see that there are a lots of
errors regarding machine account creations.

It goes on like this for every machine account in the domain.

It seems that every machine account is shown with a _ instead of a $
as the last character. Maybe this is wrong?

Bug#514627: mdadm: autocheck generates errors: INFO: task md1_resync:5528 blocked for more than 120 seconds

2009-02-09 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: mdadm
Version: 2.6.7.1-1
Severity: normal

I have two similar server, using Lenny on an Intel S3200 mainboard with
integrated SATA controller set to AHCI mode. I used MD to create 2 raid sets
(root and swap) that share the same phisical disks, so when the auto check
starts, md1 is delayed until md0 is finished. The problem is that while md0 is
checking (and md1 is delayed) I get a lot of errors, one every 120 seconds,
like the one pasted here:

I suppose that this error should be suppressed by default, since it's normal
that md1 does not get checked until md0 has finished. I suppose also that it
should be OK for this error to show up if the md data-check task hangs for
some other reason.

Bug#421647: zaptel-modules-2.6.18: Cannot install package produced by module-assistant - files conflict!

2007-04-30 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: zaptel-modules-2.6.18
Version: 1:1.2.11.dfsg-1+2.6.18-10.00.Custom
Severity: important

I have a freshly installed Etch system, on which I have compiled my own 2.6.18
kernel and then installed
it using make-kpkg kernel-image and then dpkg -i linux-image-XXX (using
Debian sources).

After installing my kernel, I have tried to install zaptel-modules-2.6.18. I
have downloaded the package and
executed module-assistant a-i zaptel. It seems that the zaptel modules
package was built correctly, but when
module-assistant tries to install it using dpkg, it fails as this:

dpkg: error processing
zaptel-modules-2.6.18_1.2.11.dfsg-1+2.6.18-10.00.Custom_amd64.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite `/lib/modules/2.6.18/modules.ccwmap', which is also in
package linux-image-2.6.18

I have found that all of these files are present (and different) in both my
locally-generated kernel image
package and the zaptel modules binary package:

This makes the automatic installation fail, and I need to copy manually module
files out of the deb package and
into the proper directory, not overwriting the mentioned files, obviously.

Bug#419232: tob fails to count size (--fullcount) when using UTF-8 charset

2007-04-14 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: tob
Version: 0.26.cvs.20040226-5
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

If you try to run tob -fullcount something on a system that has en_US.UTF-8
as locale, you get a lot
of errors from wc, which is called by tob.

Errors are like this:

wc: standard input:38122: Invalid or incomplete multibyte or wide character

I have patched tob to call wc -c instead of wc.

This is the patch:

Bug#399562: It seems that auth modules get confused

2007-04-07 Thread Fabio Muzzi

I have a server where both database and htpasswd auth are in use.

If I load mod_auth_pgsql after the other auth modules, it does not work.
If I load it before, it works, but then when I perform htaccess-style
auth, like this:

 Location /bookmarks
Dav On
order deny,allow
allow from all
Authtype Basic
Authname DAV access
AuthUserFile /etc/apache2/passwd.install
Require valid-user
 /Location

I get an error in the log that says:

[Sat Apr 07 22:37:54 2007] [warn] [client 10.1.42.11] [mod_auth_pgsql.c] -
missing configuration parameters

So it seems that both auth modules are trying to autenticate the user
together. Anyway it works, even if I get this warning.

Bug#399562: Confirmed

2007-04-06 Thread Fabio Muzzi

I had to load the auth_pgsql module as the first one to make it work,
  too.

I suppose that I have to load it before any other auth module, but I
have not tested every possible combination.

Bug#316848: Re[2]: Bug#316848: kernel-source-2.6.8: BIOS handoff failed error loading ehci_hcd module on Asus P4P800 mainboard

The first patch seems to address a PCI issue, not an ehci issue. Have you
attached the right file?

Bug#316848: kernel-source-2.6.8: BIOS handoff failed error loading ehci_hcd module on Asus P4P800 mainboard

2005-07-04 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: kernel-source-2.6.8
Version: 2.6.8-16
Severity: normal

I have compiled my kernel from the Debian sources (2.6.8-16) and I havo
found that on an Asus P4P800 mainboard (that worked with 2.4.26) when I
do modprobe usb-ehci I get the following error in syslog:

casa kernel: ACPI: PCI interrupt :00:1d.7[D] - GSI 23 (level, low) - IRQ
23
casa kernel: ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: Intel Corp. 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) USB2

casa kernel: ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: BIOS handoff failed (104, 1010001)
casa kernel: ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: can't reset
casa kernel: ehci_hcd :00:1d.7: init :00:1d.7 fail, -95
casa kernel: ehci_hcd: probe of :00:1d.7 failed with error -95

The module gets loaded but usb2 peripherals fail to work completely.

I have googled for some more info, and found that this is a known issue
with kernel 2.6.8 and some BIOSes.

Here is a link to a discussion about it:

Bug#315928: apcupsd: TIMELEFT reported sometimes in seconds instead of minutes with USB UPS's

2005-06-27 Thread Fabio Muzzi
Package: apcupsd
Version: 3.10.17-2
Severity: normal

I have found that with Back-UPS CS and RS models, using USB cable,
sometimes the TIMELEFT (as reported by apcaccess and also in email
warnings when power goes out and returns) is expressed in seconds
instead of minutes. I have reported it to the authors of apcupsd, and
the problem has been fixed in the USB driver for Linux in CVS.
