Bug#557760: zabbix-server-mysql: Init script doesn't wait long enough for Zabbix Server to start

2009-11-24 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: zabbix-server-mysql
Version: 1:1.6.6-5
Severity: important

Hi,

During the last upgrade Zabbix Server refused to start and remains therefore
in a unconfigured state because the init script reports a failure
starting the daemon. But it is actually running correctly.

My tests show that sometimes the running function of the init script
does not wait long enough for the daemon to start:

# pgrep zabbix_server
exited 1
# /etc/init.d/zabbix-server start
Starting Zabbix server: zabbix_server
ERROR: Zabbix server did not start
exited 1

Bug#418416: libsqlite3-ruby1.8: New version 1.2.1 is needed because rails 1.2.x is incompatible with sqlite3 3.3.7

2007-04-09 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: libsqlite3-ruby1.8
Version: 1.1.0-4
Severity: important

Hi,

A new version 1.2.1 of sqlite3-ruby is available. Since sqlite 3.3.8 is
out, it has become incompatible with Rails, due to the way default
values are shown in the schema informations. Sqlite 3.3.14 is also
incompatible with Rails.

sqlite3-ruby 1.2.1, as announced here
(http://rubyforge.org/forum/forum.php?forum_id=11954), solves this
problem and make Rails 1.2 work again with the version of Sqlite3
packaged in Debian. I've tried it as a gem package and can confirm that
migrations in rails now work again.

 Regard,

Bug#407858: digikam: Digikam used to set file's date to the date the picture/movie was taken, but not anymore

2007-01-21 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: digikam
Version: 2:0.8.2-3
Severity: normal

Hi,

Some time ago, at least 6 month ago but I can't be more precise as I
don't know exactly when the problem started, Digikam use to set the date
of the downloaded files to the date the picture or movie was taken by
the camera.

This way, it was easy to change movies name to hold the date, with a
shell script. This is needed because, contrary to JPEG files with exif
extensions, MPEG movies do not have any date header.

Some weeks ago I noticed that Digikam gives the current date and time to
the pictures/movies I download from my camera :( I therefore no longer
know when a film was taken. Is it possible to reverse this regression
and make digikam change the item's date during download?

I'm using a Canon Powershot G3 camera.

Bug#382376: cyrus-imapd-2.2: Create Debian packages for version 2.3 of Cyrus

2007-01-08 Thread Farzad FARID
Hi,

on 06.01.2007 19:45 Alexander Myodov said the following:
 Hello,

 Trying not to be too impudent but... are the any news on Cyrus 2.3 for Debian?
 No words about it since September - and there are too useful features
 there (such as Sieve body extension) to miss.

It's being worked on, but not yet published.

Im' not speaking in Debian's name, but if you don't mind using an
experimental package (but successfully deployed by myself on site with
500 users and more than 10,000 mailboxes), try the packages here :
http://www.pragmatic-source.com/Cyrus-Imapd-2-3-7-for-the-Linux. Please
note that migration from version 2.2 to 2.3 is *untested*.

The experimental Debian version is exactly the same, except for the
patch number 95 that I added, whose purpose is explained on my site.

Any feedback you may have will help us build the final 2.3 version faster.

Hi,

I had the same bug this morning. Downgrading libattr1 to version

re-upgraded libacl1. I never rebooted.

Bug#392803: /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/imap.rb: net/imap.rb crashes when working with a recent Cyrus Imapd

2006-10-13 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: libruby1.8

Severity: important
File: /usr/lib/ruby/1.8/net/imap.rb

Hi,

When used with recent Cyrus Imapd servers, net/imap.rb does not
recognize an IMAP keyword and breaks the connection, usually after
issuing a SELECT or EXAMINE command. This happens at least with
Cyrus Imapd 2.3 and makes imap.rb unusable.

There is a patch on RubyForge for this:

Bug#383015: cyrus-common-2.2: delprune event should now use cyr_expire instead of ctl_deliver

2006-08-14 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: cyrus-common-2.2

Hi guys,

In the process of creating my own Cyrus 2.3 package I noted a discrepancy
between the usage of ctl_deliver in the EVENTS section of cyrus.conf and
the man page, which does not mention the '-E' parameter.

By checking ctl_deliver.c I found that it should now be replaced by
cyr_expire. The source code says:

case 'E':
if (op == NONE) op = PRUNE;
else usage();
/* deprecated, but we still support it */
days = optarg;
break;
and also:
   case PRUNE: {

Bug#382061: cyrus-common-2.2: Please put OPTIONS shell variable in /etc/default/cyrus2.2

2006-08-08 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: cyrus-common-2.2
Version: 2.2.13-4
Severity: wishlist

Hi,

I think OPTIONS should be defined in /etc/default/cyrus2.2 instead of
/etc/init.d/cyrus2.2, so that it can be easily overriden without
touching an init script.

Which option would you like to set or override, which isn't already
available through the /etc/default/cyrus2.2 options?

Anyway, I added support for setting abitrary options from
/etc/default/cyrus2.2 in SVN.

Bug#367027: mysql-server-5.0: Init script fails with bogus error The partition with /var/lib/mysql is too full

Starting mysql fails with this error:

The error happens because I have set the env variable BLOCKSIZE=k, which

Bug#352613: convmv: smart utf8 detection not so smart

2006-02-12 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: convmv
Version: 1.09-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

When calling convmv with -t utf-8, the program behaves differently from
using -f utf8.

For example:
==
% convmv -f latin1 -t utf8 Plkr-AlloCiné.pdb
Starting a dry run without changes...
Skipping, already UTF-8: ./Plkr-AlloCiné.pdb
No changes to your files done. Use --notest to finally rename the files.

% convmv -f latin1 -t utf-8 Plkr-AlloCiné.pdb
Starting a dry run without changes...
mv ./Plkr-AlloCiné.pdb./Plkr-AlloCiné.pdb
No changes to your files done. Use --notest to finally rename the files.
==

Using the following script, I tracked down the problem to an alias
resolution bug:
===
#!/usr/bin/perl -w

use strict;
use Encode;

my $opt_t = shift;
$opt_t=Encode::resolve_alias($opt_t) or die wrong/unknown \to\
encoding!\n;
print opt_t = $opt_t\n;

Output:

% ./utf8.pl utf8
opt_t = utf8
% ./utf8.pl utf-8
opt_t = utf-8-strict

Therefore the following patch should solve the problem:

--- /usr/bin/convmv 2006-01-19 03:21:33.0 +0100

Bug#343683: nagios-mysql: New install scripts do not reask for the passwords when running dpkg-reconfigure

2005-12-16 Thread Farzad FARID
Package: nagios-mysql
Version: 2:1.3-cvs.20050402-12
Severity: normal

Hi,

I let dbconfig-commong handle the MySQL configuration, but made a mistake
when entering the nagios database's password. I ran dpkg-reconfigure, but
it never reasks for the database password again, so I can't correct the
problem.

In fact, I even have to select 'retry' after the config failure to make the
script ask me for the MySQL main password again, which it doesn't do on the
first run.
