Bug#973717: shotwell: Jpeg file commentary are stored as "binary comment"

2020-11-03 Thread Florian Gruel

Package: shotwell
Version: 0.30.10-1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

After importing files from a Canon D 350 adding commentary to files set the
value to "binary comment".

Setting commentary seams OK with files from android smartphone ...

On another computer with stable version, this doesn't happen

I also believe that this bug is probably a libmtp one. This bug has
been waiting two years for a reply, so I'm thinking about
closing it as invalid when buster is released, if there as not been a
follow-up by that time. I'm guessing that will be August or
September.

Debian 9 (stretch) shipped with libmtp_1.1.13-1, which is newer than
what existed when you submitted this bug (1.1.12). Would you please confirm if
I/O can be performed on your Archos Tablet through the file-manager?

In buster we now have 1.1.16-1, and in sid 1.1.16-2. Testing if your
tablet works with one of these would also be appreciated.

Thanks!
Nicholas

I'm curious if basic MTP operations are working with this device on the current
operating system, where you are having issues with calibre ?

- From your logs, it looks like a bug in mtp.
