Bug#428853: openoffice.org-base: Can not load tables with ODBC: pop-up with [unixODBC][Driver Manager]Invalid cursor state

2007-06-14 Thread Frank Denissen
Package: openoffice.org-base
Version: 2.0.4.dfsg.2-7etch1
Severity: normal

I try to open a MySQL database connected via unixODBC.
I can connect to the database and I can look at the table structure:
field "id" (key): integer auto_increment
field "niveau": integer
5 additional fields of type "varchar"

When I select "open", I get a popup window saying (free translation from Dutch):
Data can not be loaded
[unixODBC][Driver Manager]Invalid cursor state.

Afterwards I get an empty window as table view(no rows/columns).

I can access the same table via the JDBC interface without problems.
I can open other tables within the same database without problems.
Obviously all tables with problems have an "integer auto_increment" as key.

I'm sure I could open the same table via openoffice.org-base when I was working
in sarge under i386.
This is the first time I try this in etch under amd64.

Bug#439896: WPA does not work on Dell Wireless 1390

2007-09-08 Thread Frank Denissen

Hello Kel,

I don't think your conclusion is correct.
I found this in the output of dmesg:

wlan0: ethernet device 00:19:7d:3a:17:eb using NDIS driver: bcmwl5,
version: 0x4640f05, NDIS version: 0x501, vendor: 'NDIS Network
Adapter', 14E4:4311.5.conf
wlan0: encryption modes supported: WEP; TKIP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK;
AES/CCMP with WPA, WPA2, WPA2PSK

Obviously ndiswrapper reports here that WPA is supported.

Best regards,

Frank

This is not a bug of wpasupplicant. See below for why.

Driver does not support WPA.

This is the punchline. ndiswrapper doesn't think your windows driver supports
WPA, and reports that to wpa_supplicant. Maybe yry a different windows
driver?

Personally, I find the native bcm43xx module to be quite okay, ymmv of course.

Thanks, Kel.

Bug#433129: libacr38u: ACR38U card reader does not work in etch on amd64 architecture

2007-07-14 Thread Frank Denissen
Package: libacr38u
Version: 1.7.9-1etch1+b1
Severity: important

I used the ACR38U card reader under sarge on a i386 architecture. There it
worked fine.
Now I changed to etch on amd64 and my card reader no longer works. The card
reader itself
is still fine because it works under windows.

When I connect the reader to an USB port I find following logs in dmesg/log
files:

Nothing happens if I put my identity card in the reader.

When I start up beidgui (version 2.5.9-9) and push on the "read card" icon, I
get the message "Error: Wrong root

According to me the drivers/libraries used to access the card driver are not
working properly on the 64-bit
architecture.

Bug#439896: WPA does not work on Dell Wireless 1390

2007-08-28 Thread Frank Denissen

Package: wpasupplicant
Version: 0.5.5-2
Severity: normal

I have a Dell Inspiron with Dell Wireless 1390. Access to my wireless
router works fine without encryption or with WEP. Only WPA does not work
under Linux (ndiswrapper + windows driver). WPA works fine under
Windows, using the same version of the driver.

Software:

   * OS: I tried both Debian backports kernel:
linux-image-2.6.21-1-amd64 and linux-image-2.6.21-2-686
   * ndiswrapper: I tried both version 1.32 and 1.47 (recompiled on
laptop and installed)
   * wpasupplicant: I tried both version 0.5.5-2 version and 0.6.0-3
(package rebuild on laptop)
   * driver from Dell http://ftp.us.dell.com/network/R151517.EXE (unzip
and use DRIVER/bcmwl5.inf)

Installation procedure:

   * I followed the instructions on
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=31926 for installation of
ndiswrapper and driver
   * I followed the instructions on
