In this alpha software series, frequent unannounced incompatible interface changes are common. I'm running the current kernel from debian unstable. These interface changes make user land commands like cdrecord fail. If you are using developer grade alpha kernels, you of course need to use userland programs that are _newer_ than the kernel and that have already been updated to work around the incompatible kernel interface changes. I'm running the current cdrecord from debian unstable. >Cdrecord-Clone 2.01.01a03 (i686-pc-linux-gnu) Copyright (C) 1995-2005 Joerg Schilling This version of cdrecord is 14 months old, 14 months older than your kernel! >/usr/bin/cdrecord: Warning: using inofficial version of libscg (debian-0.8debian2 '@(#)scsitransp.c 1.91 04/06/17 Copyright 1988,1995,2000-2004 J. Schilling'). This indicates that you are not using an official version of cdrecord but a version that has been bastardized by Debian and that implements bugs that are not present in the original. This is one of the reasons why I report my bugs to debian bug tracking systems, and not directly upstream. >/usr/bin/cdrecord: Cannot allocate memory. read buffer: scsi sendcmd: no error >CDB: 3C 00 00 00 00 00 00 FC 00 00 >status: 0x0 (GOOD STATUS) This is most likely a problem caused by an incompatibility introduced by Linux-2.6.16 and the official cdrecord already implements a workaround for this imcompatibility It seems that there is already a bug report about the new version. As it seems that Debian maintainers do not take their users for serious anymore and did not update cdrtools for a long time, I am no longer sure whether they still know about the Debian roots and about it's early people Bruce Perens who did write the Debian social conteact guidelines (see remark at the bottom of http://www.opensource.org/docs/definition.php). Some Debian maintainers recently started to ignore the Debian social contract: http://www.debian.org/social_contract which is identical to http://www.opensource.org/docs/definition.php. That's too bad. I recommend to just use the original from: ftp://ftp.berlios.de/pub/cdrecord/alpha/ I'll try that. It is true and (opensource.org aproved) free Opensource Software Just avoid the versions from Debian that limit your freedom.. If you don't like debian so much, why are you on its bug system? I didn't send this bug report to you. -- Haggai Eran -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Bug#375625: gnome-power-manager: Weird interaction with powersaved daemon
Package: gnome-power-manager Version: 2.14.3-2 Severity: normal Hi I have both gnome-power-manager and powersave daemon installed. I've used powersaved for some time, and it worked fine. When I installed gnome-power-manager, it seemed to work fine together, only when closing the lid, the machine suspends and then when opening the lid it does another supsend. The weird thing is when I tried shutting down the powersave daemon, and running gpm alone, it wouldn't supsend at all. It says 'Suspend Problem', and advises me to consult with the FAQ page. This happens even if I boot without powersaved.
