Just for the record, now latest version seems to be 1.16.1, 1.17 is
close (it is in rc1 now):

Great! Let's see if that´s enough to have calibre back in the
repository!

repository until we solve this bug?

As I commented above, I guess there is no need to move it to non-free.
The source code is readily available, and satisfies DFSG requiremens,
as far as I know. It would be only a matter of including the source
code in a directory in the package, and maybe a simple command to
reconstruct the minimized version.

Bug#775663: I guess that's the source code...

2015-07-03 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
I've been looking at the src directory in Datejs-all-Alpha1.zip:

% ls src
core-debug.js globalizationparser.js time-debug.js
core.jslicense.txt sugarpak-debug.js time.js
date.jsparser-debug.js sugarpak.js

For each js file, there is a -debug.js file, which seems to be the
source file for it. In the globalization directory there seems to be
only source files. date.js, which is the only one without a -debug.js
counterpart, seems to be source code too.

To me, this directory looks like the source code for date.js...

Maybe it would be enough to copy the files *-debug.js date.js
license.txt and the directory globalization into the source code for
Calibre?

Bug#775663: Reproducing time.js

2015-07-03 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
In fact, time.js seems to be reproduced just by (using the files in the
src directory in Datejs-all-Alpha1.zip):

cat globalization/en-US.js core-debug.js sugarpak-debug.js parser
-debug.js time.js

And then minimizing.

You can check how this file compares to the original time.js for
example at http://prettydiff.com/ which prettyfies and compares
JavaScript even if minimized. The differences seem just cosmetics to
me.

In fact, my impression is that all directories in that package could be
incorporated as source code. They include tests that run on a browser,
for example. Some lines on how to create the time.js file (the above
cat, plus a call to your preferred minimizer, for example) could be
enough. If needed, this could be included in the Calibre build scripts,
to really build from source.

Just my two cents...

Jesus.

Bug#765812: GNOME Evolution SIGSEGV with latest SQLite3 in testing too

2014-10-30 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
Despite what I read in this ticket, it seems that SQLlite3 3.8.7-1
entered testing. I got it with my upgrade yesterday, and evolution
didn't start anymore (segmentation fault).

Reverting to 3.8.5-2 works for me: evolution seems happy again (for some
reason, I couldn't install 3.8.6-1, apt was not offering it to me
despite having the proper snapshot.debian.org apt line).

Bug#531838: #531838: evolution: unusably slow since upgrading to 2.26

 Hello,

you reported or commented a preformance problem with evolution 2.26:
 http://bugs.debian.org/531838

Does the situation became better with 2.28 (squeeze, sid)?
If not does the tip from Olivier helped
 http://people.gnome.org/~sragavan/evolution-rebuild-summarydb from
 https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=575039#c3 ?

 thx for your feedback.

Things have improved in 2.28 (I'm now using 2.28.2 in testing), but are
still slow.

I've seen the performance is highly dependent of the size of the INBOX.
When I delete the INBOX and start fresh, it works quick. When it starts
to grow, it gets slower and slower, when starting up and when switching
virtual folders.

It is also dependent on the number of vfolders: the more vfolders, the
slower. In particular, if vfolders are dependent of small inboxes,
performance is reasonable. But as more vfolders are defined and/or they
are dependent on larger mboxes, performance slows down.

I guess it all has something to do with the implementation of mbox
indexes or something...

Before the migration to sqlite, performance was much better...

[No, I'm sorry, but I see no noticeable improvement with Olivier's
patch.]

Jesus.

Bug#531838: I experience the same without IMAP folders

2009-06-12 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
I'm using only local folders (retrieved via POP). They are large (INBOX
is about 1 Gbyte), and I have several (about 10) search (virtual)
folders.

On startup, it takes several minutes (about 10) until it updates the
vfolders or something (says is working on INBOX, then on other folders
implied in vfolders).

Each time I get new email via POP, it takes minutes in updating the
message view for any vfolder. When switching folders, it is also slow.
When deleting messages in an vfolder, again it takes minutes until the
new listing is produced.

This is since my change from 2.24 to 2.26-1 (which is what I'm using, in
testing).

Saludos,

Jesus.

Bug#387210: First error fixed, but evo still does not launch

2006-09-14 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
The first error, about org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied, has been
fixed, see below. But evolution still shows the other one
(Gtk-CRITICAL), and doesn't start up except when launched with the
--sm-disable option.

For the first error (org.freedesktop.Dbus.Error.AccessDenied), I've
found the problem, and a solution (not sure it is the best one).

The problem seems to be the configuration in
/etc/dbus-1/system.d/NetworkManager.conf (with the dist-upgrade that
took this version of evolution, network-manager came in), which states
that there is little to do for the rest of us:

--
!DOCTYPE busconfig PUBLIC
 -//freedesktop//DTD D-BUS Bus Configuration 1.0//EN
 http://www.freedesktop.org/standards/dbus/1.0/busconfig.dtd;
busconfig
policy user=root
allow own=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/

allow
send_destination=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
allow send_interface=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
/policy
policy user=hal
allow
send_destination=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
allow send_interface=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
/policy
policy group=netdev
allow
send_destination=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
allow send_interface=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
/policy
policy context=default
deny own=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
deny
send_destination=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
deny send_interface=org.freedesktop.NetworkManager/
/policy
/busconfig
--

The fix (nto sure it is the best one, btw), has been to add jgb (my
user) to the netdev group. Using vigr, I changed from

--
netdev:x:117:
--

to

--
netdev:x:117:jgb
--

Then,

--
# /etc/init.d/dbus restart
--

And that's all. I'm not sure if something like this should be done
either in evolution or (maybe more likely) in network-manager.

Bug#387210: evolution: Evolution does not start up

2006-09-12 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
Package: evolution
Version: 2.6.3-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Evolution does not start up after apt-get dist-upgrade (testing).
Formerly, it worked like a charm. I get the following errors:

$ evolution
  CalDAV Eplugin starting up ...
  libnm_glib_nm_state_cb: dbus returned an error.
(org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied) A security policy in place
prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient,
see message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface
org.freedesktop.NetworkManager member state error name (unset)
  destination org.freedesktop.NetworkManager)

  (evolution-2.6:6323): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_layout_set_hadjustment:
  assertion `GTK_IS_LAYOUT (layout)' failed

  (evolution-2.6:6323): Gtk-CRITICAL **: gtk_layout_set_vadjustment:
  assertion `GTK_IS_LAYOUT (layout)' failed

I can startup evolution with the --sm-disable option:

$ evolution --sm-disable
  CalDAV Eplugin starting up ...
  libnm_glib_nm_state_cb: dbus returned an error.
(org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.AccessDenied) A security policy in place
prevents this sender from sending this message to this recipient, see
message bus configuration file (rejected message had interface
org.freedesktop.NetworkManager member state error name (unset)
  destination org.freedesktop.NetworkManager)

It seems to work after this, but after reading some messages, the
view panel seems to stop working: it shows a (deleted) message, and
doesn't change when selecting new messages. In fact, the behaviour is
similar to bug #386303.

Bug#378367: ekiga doesn't seem to start up

2006-07-15 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
Package: ekiga
Version: 2.0.2-1
Severity: important

If I run ekiga from the command line, I get nothing (not even the
prompt). It seems ekiga is stalled, waiting for something. No CPU seems
to be consumed by it, either.

I'm behind a NAT (but it seems this shouldn't be a problem, looking at
the docs), and sound seems to work ok (tested with the gstreamer conf),
using alsa.

Bug#378367: Some more data about the bug

2006-07-15 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
I've noted two facts which could be interesting:

- If I unconfigure the network card (ifdown wlan0), the config panel for
ekiga shows up, and it seems to work (either if ekiga was already
launched, or if I launch it after unconfiguring the card).

- Find below the dump, launching it with eikiga -d 4, when it seems to
hang:

Bug#378367: Solved!

2006-07-15 Thread Jesus M. Gonzalez-Barahona
After using strace and friends, I realized that ekiga was trying to
connect to libresoft.urjc.es, which for some reason was mentioned in
~/.gtk-bookmarks (was the only line there). I removed the file, and now
ekiga seems to start up without problems.

This is also consistent whith the behaviour when wlan0 was down:
libresoft.urjc.es is today unreachable, and there was a dns search that
didn't finish, but without connection to the network, it failed
immediately.

So, I'd consider this fixed. Sorry for the noise.

[It would be nice to know why ekiga needs to look into ~/.gtk-bookmarks
and connect to the urls there, but well, this is beyond my current
expertise]

Saludos,

Jesus.
