Bug#980833: geany-plugins: markdown-plugin is missing

2023-08-06 Thread Kess Vargavind
Package: geany-plugin-markdown
Followup-For: Bug #980833
X-Debbugs-Cc: vargav...@gmail.com

Works for me, now.

After fiddling around a little more I noticed that I had no plugins activated
under Tools > Plugin Manager.

(I thought that was what Edit > Plugin Preferences was for... Silly me.)

Anyway, the preferences option is no longer greyed-out and the plugin works.

Sorry for the noise. Perhaps the bug can be closed?

Greetings,
Kess

Hello,

Just a little ping that this is still an issue.

There is no Markdown preview for .md files, I have made sure that the filetype
is Markdown source file.

Also, in Geany the menu alternative Plugin Preferences is greyed out.

As earlier mentioned, is there any missing dependencies?

I have not investigated further as I am not using Geany very often.

Thank you in advance!

Bug#684496: ttf-ancient-fonts maintaining

2015-07-12 Thread Kess Vargavind
Greetings,

I have not seen any recent activity of Gürkan Sengün and this package is
both buggy and old, but has a fresh upstream.

As the Symbola font currently is the only font in Debian containing the
recent symbol additions to Unicode this package might be given some
priority.

Could this package be taken under the wings of the Debian Fonts Task Force?

If no one is willing to take care of this package, I can take some time to
do so. I will have to learn Debian’s packaging procedures and policies
first though.

Kind regards,
Kess

Bug#684496: Time to upgrade this bunch of fonts

2014-08-17 Thread Kess Vargavind
Package: ttf-ancient-fonts
Version: 2.57-1
Followup-For: Bug #684496

Update, or, a further incentive to package the updated fonts.

The packaged version of Symbola use “reserved” glyphs at to-be-encoded-in-
the-future code points. As one instance of the future is here now, this has the
unwanted side effect that the “reserved” glyph is shown instead of the
correct ones for fonts with lower priority than Symbola (e.g. the bitmap
Unifont fonts).

At least some of the affected code blocks in Symbola 6.05:

  * Cyrillic Supplement
  * Currency Symbols
  * Dingbats
  * Miscellaneous Symbols and Arrows
  * Supplemental Punctuation
  * Playing Cards
  * Miscellaneous Symbols and Pictographs

Kind regards,
Kess

Bug#684496: Time to upgrade this bunch of fonts

2014-07-16 Thread Kess Vargavind
Package: ttf-ancient-fonts
Version: 2.57-1
Followup-For: Bug #684496

Greetings Gürkan and CC:ed font devs!

With Unicode 7.0 properly released it’s high time to update this package (and
its package name), please consider doing so.

A new font has been added:

  * Asea (at a glance, covers a great deal of ancient Greek typography)

Several fonts have had their version numbers updated, current versions as of
today:

  * Aegean 6.00 → 7.42
  * Aegyptus 3.13 → 5.03
  * Akkadian 2.56 → 7.15
  * Anatolian 3.06 → 5.02
  * Symbola 6.05 → 7.17

Other fonts have both updated version numbers and have been archived:

  * Analecta 3.06 → 4.02
  * Maya 1.06 → 4.14
  * Musica 3.06 → 3.12
  * Unidings 6.05 → 7.17

I have not checked why they are archived.

Yet other fonts have been archived, I have not checked if they are changed:

  * Alexander
  * Alfios
  * Anaktoria
  * Aroania
  * Atavyros
  * Avdira

Kind regards,
Kess

p. s. There are other fonts on the page that I have not checked, such as
Cretan.zip.

Bug#722054: fonts-ebgaramond: drop some fonts and/or split package

2013-09-06 Thread Kess Vargavind
Package: fonts-ebgaramond
Version: 0.015+git20130522-1
Severity: normal

Hello and thanks for packaging these fonts! Some suggestions:

(1) Drop the TTFs, most software can handle the OTFs just fine and having both
will mean double font listings in some software.

(2) Drop or split (to e.g. fonts-ebgaramond-extra) the SC variant fonts. Most
typesetters nowaday know how to handle “smart” font features available in
the base fonts. Suggestion: drop.

(3) Drop or split (to e.g. fonts-ebgaramond-experimental or -extra) the Initial
and Bold variant fonts. They are far from complete and will not behave as
expected on a production system. They are worth packaging for use of limited
scope. Suggestion: split.

Thanks in advance,
Kess

Bug#709805: [Pkg-fonts-devel] Bug#709805: Bug#709805: task-chinese-t: missing glyphs in font set(s)

Hello Toni (et al.),

 is available in, at least, fonts such as HanaMinB [1] and IPAmjMincho

[1] fonts-hanazono
[2] fonts-ipamj-mincho

As for the three characters in the “Bopomofo extended” range, they were
added
in Unicode version 6.0, and support for them will probably come in the not
too
distant future. Lately we have had extremely good CJK coverage, rather fast.

Kind regards,

 Dear Toni and others,

 there are 75 thousand Chinese characters in Unicode, hence one ttf file
 which has a limit of 256x256 glyphs can not contain all Chinese characters,
 at least two ttf font files are required. Some packages contain 2 ttf files
 often labelled A and B one from Chinese characters in the BMP (Basic
 Multilingual Plane) and another for those in SIP (Supplementary Ideographic
 Plane) . The example above is from SIP.

 Dear Maintainer,

 this bug report may be relevant to antother font packages, but I don't
 know which one. Please reassign as you deem appropriate.

 In the Chinese font packages, some glyphs seem to be missing. You can
 see the problem on this web page:

 For me, these characters don't display:

 1. In the table Rhymes Medials, there is this text:

From the obsolete character hē, ...

You can see that the glyph for the character after character is
missing.

Three rows down, the same problem occurs in this text:

From hài, bronze form of 亥

 2. Further down, just above the See also section, there is a table
 titled Bopomofo Extended, where the last three glyphs are missing.

Bug#443915: lilypond-doc probably should be split

2012-02-26 Thread Kess Vargavind
As of version 2.14.2-2 the package is 720 MB unpackaged (packaged: 251 MB).

Some crude counts:
  * Nine languages have about 1.450 HTML files: cs, de, es, fr, hu,
it, ja, nl and zh
  * A couple of PDFs are available for de, es, fr, hu and it
  * The unpackaged size of these localised files ranges between 40 and
90 MB per language
  * The English documention *plus* common snippets, images et cetera
come together at 190 MB unpackaged
  * Nothing else but HTML and PDF files seems to be localized (*only*
considering the file names)

The translations are growing and so is the size of the package.

Kind regards,
Kess

[A] Most of these characters have existing code points elsewhere in Unicode.
All of the characters can be encoded with combining diacritical marks.
