Bug#958287: More recent release on author's GitHub
Hello. There seems to be a marginally more recent release (version 1.1) on the author's GitHub: https://github.com/niklasso/minisatp Martin Lester.
Bug#1030289: Problems with the debian entry of the efi partition in the bios of my laptop.
trying to install Debian in a laptop with a dual boot setup of Windows 11 and Ubuntu 22.04 (before was 20.04). Debian will reemplace Ubuntu in his same partitions (Ubuntu never had in all these years any problems I'm talking about). With both versions of Ubuntu I don't notice any problem. The only problem is with Debian (11 and 12). I can install Debian perfectly and it boots with no problem if it is selected in the bios entry, but the problem is how the bios recognized the debian entry in the efi partition. I will separate the cases of who i installed Debian (both versions 11 and 12 have the same result): Case 1: In the first attempt to install Debian, I did not delete the ubuntu entry from the efi partition and the result was three entries. One for Windows (that works), one for Ubuntu (that does not work of course) and one for Debian that works but is shown as a blank line. If I remove the ubuntu entry and select the debian one, I can not enter my bios. The bios showed a black screen and only the power key of my laptop changed the scenario. Similar to what is described here: https://superuser.com/questions/1348328/cant-enter-to-bios-after-debian-install-black-screen Case 2: Remove Ubuntu entry and install debian later. Here the result was only one entry with a blank line as a label that loaded Debian, but I lost the entry of Windows. If I manually remove the Debian entry, then the Windows entry shows up again. Regards. Lester.
Bug#1009698: util-linux: more is less like more and more like less now :-)
I just wanted to add that, like the original poster, I use more and less for different purposes, and was unpleasantly surprised to discover this change in testing. Martin Lester.
Bug#1017416: RFP: libfile-kdbx-perl -- File::KDBX - Encrypted database to store secret text and files
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist * Package name: libfile-kdbx-perl Version : 0.0.905 Upstream Author : Charles McGarvey * URL : https://metacpan.org/dist/File-KDBX * License : GPLv1 and Artistic (same as Perl itself) Programming Lang: Perl Description : File::KDBX - Encrypted database to store secret text and files The File::KDBX module allows Perl programs to operate on the newest, KDBX4 file format, used by programs like KeePass and KeePassXC. I (Lester Hightower) am the author of kpcli, which is packaged in many distributions, including Debian. Since inception, kpcli has used File::KeePass to manage KeePass files, but File::KeePass only supports KDBv1 and KDBX3 files. File::KeePass is also stagnant and has been for many years. The most requested feature for kpcli is KDBX4 support, and also has been for many years. In late April, Charles McGarvey released File::KDBX and I have enhanced kpcli to use it. I am now releasing "beta" versions of kpcli that support KDBv1, KDBX3 and KDBX4 files, and anticipate making a production release fairly soon. https://packages.debian.org/sid/kpcli https://sourceforge.net/projects/kpcli/files/prereleases/ I have only ever made personal packages for Debian (nothing within Debian) and would need a sponsor.
Bug#1006917: kpcli: "not well-formed (invalid token)" when opening a file
I do not equate your one, esoteric data access problem with justification for removing the package from Debian. There is no security problem and no data was lost. Even if you had not fixed the problem in File::KeePass yourself, there are many other programs that operate on KeePass files that could have been used to access your data. -- Lester >

Bug#1006917: kpcli: "not well-formed (invalid token)" when opening a file
Hi Rhonda, I am happy that you found and fixed your problem. I suspect, however, that the code that you changed was not actually kpcli code but, instead, File::KeePass code -- the module that kpcli uses to read and write keepass files. https://metacpan.org/pod/File::KeePass Can you confirm that I am correct about that? Bug#823186: chromium: crashes on many websites
I can add that this bug affects 52.0.2743.116-2 in stretch on i386. Searching Google for (for example) "define:donkey" seems to reproduce the bug reliably. I am currently using 49.0.2623.108-1, which was the most recent unaffected version I could find. Martin Lester.

Bug#832935: Bad patch
This patch is not effective as Math::Random::ISAAC does not overload the built-in rand() function as the reporter believes it does. Earlier today, kpcli v3.1 was released and it allows for Math::Random::ISAAC to be optionally used in place of the built-in rand() function. An objective evaluation of the ways that rand() is used in kpcli would likely lead one to believe this is an unnecessary change, but I made it none the less. Bug#483487: xserver-xorg-video-intel: font rendering problem hit me about two weeks ago
Package: xserver-xorg-video-intel Version: 2:2.3.1-1 Severity: normal I track all the testing updates and ended up with no font rendering starting about two weeks ago. At first all the fonts became invisible/transparent. That lasted for two weeks, as I was trying reinstallation of all the X parts to no effect. Then it suddenly started working normally for awhile on Saturday. After rebooting that time, it turned into the black rectangles as in the JPG included in this thread. To confirm that my hardware had not glitched, I installed another fresh testing image onto a spare disk, but it had black rectangles, too. Then I tried installing Ubuntu 8.4 and that worked perfectly out of the box, including compiz, etc. I took the deb from the Ubuntu install and used dpkg to force it onto my Debian testing. That turned the font rendering back into transparent. So I tried a couple more older versions from snapshot.debian.net, but those were all transparent back to November. The working Ubuntu version is 2:2.2.1-1ubuntu13. I guess that depends on a related core version to work so nicely. One odd effect that drove me crazy was that every once in a while, maybe every 15 restarts, the fonts would come back working normally. Just enough random reinforcement to drive me nuts. Then on the next reboot they were back to black rectangles. I thought I had some kind of disk corruption of those particular GUI fonts for awhile, then worried my hardware was unstable, since it worked sometimes but not others. Finally I stumbled across this bug report. The workaround to add AccelMethod XAA works perfectly for me. -- Package-specific info: Contents of /var/lib/x11/X.roster: xserver-xorg /var/lib/x11/X.md5sum does not exist. Package: libdatetime-timezone-perl Version: 1:0.28-1 Severity: important Tags: l10n AKST9AKDT is absent from /usr/share/perl5/DateTime/TimeZoneCatalog.pm and therefore one cannot use the Alaska standard timezone AKST9AKDT, which is analogous to EST5EDT (US/Eastern), CST6CDT (central), etc. AKST9AKDT is the same timezone as US/Alaska and America/Anchorage.
