Bug#329658: tetex-extra depends on ptex-bin for installation but not specified in package requirement

2005-09-27 Thread Magnus Sundberg

Hi,

My system was upgraded from Woody. At that time I failed to get
the tetex-extra package installed, I do not know why. But I have
now verified that I now can install tetex-extra without having
ptex-bin installed. I do not know how this old bug propagated
through my system.

Please close the bug

Magnus

Bug#329658: tetex-extra depends on ptex-bin for installation but not specified in package requirement

2005-09-26 Thread Magnus Sundberg

Dear sir,
I run the stable distribution.
When I try to install tetex-extra, the system fails with

===Snip of error Message===
mktexlsr: Done.
Running initex for missing formats. This may take some time. ...
/usr/bin/fmtutil: line 253: ptex: command not found
Error: `ptex -ini  -jobname=platex -progname=platex platex.ini'
failed

===End Snip of error message===
==(This is not the actual error message its a copy from bug
#232990 ==

After tracing down the error, I find that it is the ptex program
that is missing.
I therefore beleive that tetex-extra should be declared as
depending of ptex-bin, since it fails to install if ptex-bin is
not installed.

Bug#329658: tetex-extra depends on ptex-bin for installation but not specified in package requirement

2005-09-22 Thread Magnus Sundberg

Package: tetex-extra
Version: 2.0.2c-8

Dear sirs,
Thank you for maintaining Debian.
I have the following problem with tetex-extra:

Command "apt-get install tetex-extra" fails
Error something like "command ptex not found"

Workaround

apt-get install ptex-bin
(Gives error code depends on tetex-extra)

finally

apt-get install tetex-extra ptex-bin
gets tetex-extra installed

Bug#324987: loading of mousedev in kernel-image 2.6.8

2005-08-25 Thread Magnus Sundberg

Package: module-init-tools
Version: 3.2-pre1-2

Thank you for maintaining the Debian Linux system.
I upgraded my Debian 3.1 system to kernel-image 2.6.8
This broke the Xwindows system, since it could not access the mouse.
After some debugging, I found out that the mousedev module was
not loaded.

# modprobe mousedev
solves this problem.

I beleive that mousedev should be loaded by default during boot.

Bug#316098: Interaktive install hangs at inactivity

2005-06-30 Thread Magnus Sundberg

Dear sirs,
I am very sorry for taking up your time with this bug report.
I found the source of the problem.
Power saving after 20 minutes was activated in the bios.
Apparently does the kernel not support that.
I have now disabled the power saving and I do not expect any more
problems.

Well, maybe look in the logs but I suspect you won't find anythign in
case theis is a hardware problem

applications to install.

So, a pretty "random" hang which does not depend on what is really
running on the system.

Debugging this will be kinda hard as I suspect some hardware problem.

Dear sirs,
Thank you for creating and maintaining Debian.

Method of creating hanging:
First, I did a pretty standard install from the
CD-image that downloads packages from the net.
At the reboot, I left the computer for a quite long time
about 1 hour. When I got back had the computer hung.
It was a hard hung, CTRL-ALT+DEL did not work. I had to press the

Bug#312532: Postfix upgrading to revision 3.1

2005-06-08 Thread Magnus Sundberg

Package: postfix
Version: 2.1.5-9

Dear sirs,
Thank you for developping debian and maintaining the packages.
I upgraded my 3.0 installation to 3.1. It is possible that I may
have missed some dialog box during the installation.

Anyway, I got this error message in the mail log:
Jun  8 11:26:39 dican postfix/smtpd[17244]: warning: connect #4
to subsystem /var/spool/postfix/private/proxymap: No such file or
directory

Then I uninstalled postfix and moved /etc/postfix -> /etc/postfix_old
and reinstalled the package.

Postfix would not work now either.
I then added the following lines to the main.cf file

setgid_group = postdrop
mail_owner = postfix
local_recipient_maps = unix:passwd.byname

anyway, after adding the last line, I could telnet localhost 25
and get the banner.

To do alias lookup I had to add the following line
virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/aliases

It looks like I failed to get the mail proxy to work, and my fix
is to access the data directly.

Magnus Sundberg
