Bug#1061379: amule-daemon crashes with the last libwx version 3.2.4+dfsg-2

2024-02-08 Thread Martintxo
Hello again!!

Well, my Testing system has updated the wx libraries to the 3.2.4+dfsg-3
version, and now amule-daemon and amulegui are running!!

There isn't soo stable, but, well, I think that it is working as ussual, like
it was in the last years.

So, for me, you can close this bug report.

Many thanks for all your work on Debian. Greetings. Martintxo.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I knew that amule was working in the last days, so I look at
/var/log/apt/history.log for a change in the libraries that it depends on. I
find that libwx was changed from 3.2.4+dfsg-1 to 3.2.4+dfsg-2. I download the
debian packages for these libraries in 3.2.4+dfsg-1 version from
snapshot.debian.org, install them, an now amule-daemon is working!!

The packages that I download and have now installed are:
 libwxgtk3.2-1_3.2.4+dfsg-1_amd64.deb
 libwxgtk-webview3.2-1_3.2.4+dfsg-1_amd64.deb
 libwxgtk-gl3.2-1_3.2.4+dfsg-1_amd64.deb
 libwxbase3.2-1_3.2.4+dfsg-1_amd64.deb
I put these on hold for now.

That's all for now. Tell me if I can make some thing to help you to solve the
problem. I'm not so expertise on software, but with time I can install packages
and make some test. Many thanks for your work on Debian. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#1020641: dhcpcd5: dhcpcd > 7.1.0 don't work well with dhcpcd-gtk

2022-11-03 Thread Martintxo
Hello...

After several failed test guided by Martin-Éric Racine and driven outside of
this bug report, her ask me to put my working config and changes in the bug
report. So this is how I have wireless conectivity in my ancient laptop, an
Emachines 355 with a CPU Intel Atom at 1,66 Ghz and 1 Gb of RAM

I am running Debian Testing, and have installed the following packages related
to dhcpcd:
- dhcpcd-base 9.4.1-9
- dhcpcd-dbus 0.6.1-3
- dhcpcd-gtk 0.7.8-1
- dhcpcd5 9.4.1-9

For make dhcpcd-gtk work with Debian, I copied the config of the Raspberry Pi
Desktop for PC and Mac that I see in action in my laptop with this live-cd:
https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/raspberry-pi-desktop/

I see, later, that this config is compatible with the dhcpcd-gtk manual page. I
will put excerpts of that man page on this text, bellow. I think that my config
is compilant with these excerpts, but I not totally sure.

1. In /etc/network/interfaces there is not to be anything. The manual page says
that: "dhcpcd(8) needs to be running in Master mode for dhcpcd-gtk to work with
it", so it need to be started in the boot process by systemd or init.d, and no
by /etc/network/interfaces.

2. The manual page says that: "dhcpcd-gtk relies on wpa_supplicant(8) being
configured to write its sockets to /var/run/wpa_supplicant. If dhcpcd-gtk is
used to select and set pass phrases for wireless networks then update_config=1
needs to be set in wpa_supplicant.conf." So I put this in
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf:
ctrl_interface=DIR=/var/run/wpa_supplicant GROUP=netdev
update_config=1

3. I check that wpa_supplicant need to be started by dhcpcd. For this I make
this symbolic link:
$ sudo ln -s /usr/share/dhcpcd/hooks/10-wpa_supplicant
/usr/lib/dhcpcd/dhcpcd-hooks

4. The man page says that: "If dhcpcd-gtk is used to make configuration changes
then the user needs to be able to write to the privileged dhcpcd control socket
as well as /etc/dhcpcd.conf." For that, I change the permissions of
/etc/dhcpcd.conf to these: rw-rw-r-- root:netdev. I put my normal user in the
netdev group too. So, I run these commands:
$ sudo chown root:netdev /etc/dhcpcd.conf
$ sudo chmod 664 /etc/dhcpcd.conf
$ sudo adduser "myuser" netdev

5. As said in my prior email in this bug report, prior to dhcpcd 9.4.1 with
these changes, my setup was working well. But in 9.4.1 dhcpcd is starting at
boot by systemd (prior was by an init script), and this have a "sandboxing"
part that is preventing it from working. So now I need to remove all these lines
from the systemd unit. For this I made:
- Copy that unit to /etc/systemd/system:
   $ sudo cp /lib/systemd/system/dhcpcd.service /etc/systemd/system
- Edit /etc/systemd/system/dhcpcd.service and coment/remove all this lines:
#
# sandboxing
#
ProtectSystem=strict
ReadWritePaths=/var/lib/dhcpcd /run/dhcpcd /etc/resolv.conf
ProtectHome=true
PrivateTmp=true
PrivateDevices=true
ProtectClock=true
ProtectKernelModules=true
ProtectKernelLogs=true
ProtectControlGroups=true
RestrictNamespaces=true
LockPersonality=true
MemoryDenyWriteExecute=true
RestrictRealtime=true
RestrictSUIDSGID=true
SystemCallFilter=@system-service
SystemCallErrorNumber=EPERM
SystemCallArchitectures=native

Whit this, dhcpcd is starting well in the laptop boot, and later, I start
dhcpcd-gtk with my desktop environment and is working well. I can select a
wireless net, type it's passphrase and the system conects to it...

That's all for this to work. I made another change, by this is not needed for
all users, I think. I put this line in /etc/dhcpcd.conf for dhcpcd to not to
change my /etc/resolv.conf file:
nohook resolv.conf
But there are some other modes to achieve this, as well, I think...

Well. So this is the way I work. I understand that it is a very particular way,
and that it does not have to be useful for everyone. But I think it's the only
way to get dhcpcd-gtk to work well in a Debian desktop environment.

Many thanks for all your work. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#1020641: dhcpcd5: dhcpcd > 7.1.0 don't work well with dhcpcd-gtk

2022-09-24 Thread martintxo
Package: dhcpcd5
Version: 7.1.0-2
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: martin...@sindominio.net

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

In a previous upgrade the internet conection stopped working well. In this
ancient laptop I have setup the conection with dhcpcd and dhcpcd-gtk. It works
well and is so ligthwheight. But now, with the current packages from testing,
the conection is made, but the gtk UI is not working properly. i can't choose a
diferent wifi network, only my saved wifi is working and autochoosed, and I
can't see any other wifi in any place.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

For solve the bug, I install and old version of dhcpcd5 that I have saved in
the laptop: dhcpcd5_7.1.0-2_i386.deb. With this all are fine again :-)

I think that "my" bug is this:

https://github.com/NetworkConfiguration/dhcpcd-ui/issues/5

https://bugs.gentoo.org/846515

In the last link, at the end, the upstream author says that the bug is fixed
"on the dhcpcd-9 branch". So I think that the bug belongs to dhcpcd5 and not to
dhcpcd-gtk. But if it is not correct, feel free to change it.

Many thanks for your work in Debian. Excuse my poor english, I made this with
Google Translator's help. Greetings. Martintxo.

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

I am in testing (bookworm). In today automatic upgrade claws-mail and all of
its plugins are upgraded to 3.18.0-1 version. Now, when I start claws, it does
not it.

I have the following packages installed:

/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/claws-mail/plugins/litehtml_viewer.so

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I make the following probes:

1. Start it in debug mode:

$ export LANG=C && claws-mail --debug
claws.c:102:Starting Claws Mail version 3.18.0
/run/user/1000/claws-mail: mkdir: Permission denied
Error creating socket_dir /run/user/1000/claws-mail: Permission denied

mail/4d25dfb98b85cfa7f85b86c3c6ce11a8.lock: No such file or directory (2)

2. Start with another config dir:

$ claws-mail --debug --config-dir /home/martintxo/fakeclaws
claws.c:102:Starting Claws Mail version 3.18.0
.claws-mail

But the claws window dont appear.

3. Change the /run/user/1000 dir permissions for anyone to can write to them:

$ ls -la /run/user/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 60 Sep 13 10:21 .
drwxr-xr-x 25 root root 600 Sep 13 10:21 ..
drwx-- 6 martintxo martintxo 140 Sep 13 10:23 1000
$ sudo chmod 777 /run/user
[sudo] password for martintxo:
martintxo@fundy:~$ sudo chmod 777 /run/user/1000
$ ls -la /run/user/
total 0
drwxrwxrwx 3 root root 60 Sep 13 10:21 .

drwxrwxrwx 6 martintxo martintxo 140 Sep 13 10:23 1000

And them start claws:

$ export LANG=C && claws-mail --debug
claws.c:102:Starting Claws Mail version 3.18.0
/run/user/1000/claws-mail: mkdir: Permission denied
Error creating socket_dir /run/user/1000/claws-mail: Permission denied

mail/4d25dfb98b85cfa7f85b86c3c6ce11a8.lock: No such file or directory (2)

4. Completely uninstall claws (sudo apt purge claws-mail, that uninstall too
all the other packages) and them install all to see if it changes. No luck.

As you can see, the probes does not well...

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Now I cant start claws.

I get a workaround: completely uninstall all claws packages from testing.
Download all my claws packages from stable and install them. Now, with
3.17.8-1+b1 and so, Claws is working well. I will put all packages on hold
until the new version that fixes the bug.

Many thanks for maintain claws in Debian. Excuse my bad english. Martintxo.

changes from UTF-8 (in my case) to ANSI_X3.4-1968...

The problem was, too, that localepurge 0.7.3.9 had delete the files in
/usr/share/X11/locale/en_US.UTF-8.

Apliying the sugested workaround in this bugreport by Michel Casabona (many
thanks!!) solved the problem:
 - sudo dpkg-reconfigure localepurge, and select to NO purge en_US.UTF-8
 - sudo apt install --reinstall libx11-data
 - logout and login to Icewm. Solved!!

For you to know, my locale set in /etc/default/locale is:
 LANG=eu_ES.UTF-8

So, yes, localepurge need to keep en_US.UTF-8 in /usr/share/X11/locale/.

Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#952394: dhcpcd-gtk: Mostly unusable as some icons are missing

2020-02-23 Thread martintxo
Package: dhcpcd-gtk
Version: 0.6.0-1.1+b1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

 * What led up to the situation?

I view that the Raspbgerry Pi Desktop is using a solution for the wifi
connection that is simple, lightweight and works well. It is using dhcpcd +
wpasupplicant + a custom lxpanel plugin derived from dhcpcd-gtk. I want to try
this solution in my laptop.

But installed dhcpcd, wpasupplicant and dhcpcd-gtk, and setting up all of them,
I was a problem with the icon in my panel. Dhcpcd-gtk was working OK more or
less, I could select a wifi and put it's passphrase, change to another one,
goes wired. But the icon and the menu in the panel was looking ugly. In the
wifi selection menu there was'nt a "v" icon to show the selected wifi, and
there was'nt to the icon indicating the wifi "strength"...

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I see that in the upstream web page there is a new version 0.7.7, and in ubuntu
repository there is too a 0.7.5 version. I install the ubuntu one, and the
problem goes away. Now the app looks correct and is working best.

You can see that in the debian package there are only 11 icons for each icon
size:
https://packages.debian.org/sid/amd64/dhcpcd-gtk/filelist
But in ubuntu there are 18:
https://packages.ubuntu.com/focal/amd64/dhcpcd-common/filelist

   * What was the outcome of this action?
   * What outcome did you expect instead?

So, for the package to works OK in Debian, you need to package the last version
of the upstream code. I compile it with the Ubuntu's debian source dir, and
both dhcpcd-gtk and dhcpcd-qt are working OK now.

For compile it with qt5, I pass the variable: export QT_SELECT=qt5, as said
here:
https://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-1071520-start-0.html

For me, this is the most simple and lightweight solution for setup wifi in a
laptop. I think that this good package need to be in Debian in good shape.
Thanks in advance. Greetings.

PD: I do'nt made the above probes in this computer, so the following settings
and packages are not the correct ones.

Bug#935698: amule-utils-gui: amulegui crashing with current libwxgtk3.0-0v5 3.0.4+dfsg-9 and friends

2019-09-08 Thread Martintxo
Many thanks Sandro!!

I think that you are right. Maybe, you can close this bug report...

I make some more tests. For this, I download debian-live-testing-i386-lxde.iso
from 2019-09-02, and start my PC in live mode with LXDE. In this live system I
install amule, amule-daemon and amule-utils-gui (all in 2.3.2-5+b1 version),
and for depends there are installed libxw in 3.0.4+dfsg-9 version. In this
environment I can start amuled and amulegui without problems...

Then, in the live system, I installed icewm (1.5.5+git20190610-1), and logout
and login in icewm. In this environment amulegui starts without problems too!!!

So I copied the amule whole config from my HD to this live environment (with
the relevant changes for the new filesystem...), and now amulegui is crashing
like in my SO... So the problem is in my amule config, and really in the
remote.conf file.

In my SO (icewm), with the newer libxw installed, if I start amulegui with my
original remote.conf, it crashes. But if I backup and delete remote.conf,
amulegui works without problem, and creates a new remote.conf. Now, with this
workaround I'm running without problem!!

I see for the differences in the old and the new remote.conf, but I can't see
any relevant one (there are a lot of configs, and a lot of them are different
in the two files). So I can't tell you what is the offending one. If you need
my old and buggy remote.conf file, I will save it for a wile...

Many thanks for all your work. I'm so happy with Debian and its community!!

Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#932045: icewm: Clock setup preferences don't work if "eth0 wlan0" NOT in preferences file

2019-07-14 Thread martintxo
Package: icewm
Version: 1.5.5+git20190610-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Installed new version of icewm from sid (from 1.4.3.0~pre-20181030-2 to
1.5.5+git20190610-1), and copy the preferences file from /usr/share/icewm/ to
/home/$USER/.icewm. Change some preferences to my own ones (viewing my old
one).

Restart the computer and all ok, but the clock format in the taskbar of icewm
not showing my format preferences, not in the clock itself, and not in the date
tooltip.

Put the preferences file backup of my old icewm in place and restart icewm, the
clock format is ok.

Put a new copy of /usr/share/icewm/preferences in my home, and made the changes
one by one, always restarting icewm. In that maner I view where is the problem.
That is my new preferences file (the important part) that works well:

# Network device to show status for
# NetworkStatusDevice="[ew]*"
#If here is not a "eth0 wlan0" comented statement
# the clock format in the following 3 preferences fails...
NetworkStatusDevice="enp0s25"

# Clock Time format (strftime format string)
# TimeFormat="%X"
TimeFormat="%H:%M"

# Alternate Clock Time format (e.g. for blinking effects)
# TimeFormatAlt=""
TimeFormatAlt="%H:%M"

# Clock Date format for tooltip (strftime format string)
# DateFormat="%c"
DateFormat="%Yeko %Bren %da, %A"
#DateFormat="%A, %d de %B de %Y"

There is another preference that maybe is related. This is:

# Task bar clock/APM uses nice pixmapped LCD display (but then it doesn't
display correctly in many languages anymore, e.g. for Japanese and Korean it
works only when a real font is used and not the LEDs
TaskBarClockLeds=0 # 0/1

If I cut the "eth0 wlan0" statement from the above commented part, the clock
format is wrong, the default one, I think.

That's all. I attached you my related /etc/network/interfaces file. I don't use
any network connection tool. This is a desktop PC with only a wired connection.
There are no files in /etc/network/interfaces.d dir.

Attached too the whole /home/$USER/.icewm/preferences file.

Many thanks for maintaining this package. Greetings. Martintxo.

   * What led up to the situation?

In the las months I install icewm and icewm-common packages from experimental
and sid (i'm in testing). I made it for see the changes in the package from
upstream. I use icewm all the day...

When I installed the version 1.4.3.0~pre-20171225-1, from experimental, I noted
that the load of a jpg image in the background of the windowmanager is'nt
working...

Now I install the version 1.4.3.0~pre-20180217-1 from sid and the problemns
persists (I have some other problems for install it, I think that are from bug
#856080, but now it is working fine).

It seems that now icewm is not compiled with jpeg support...

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or

Nothing.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I have now a solid blue background.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/glib2.0/+bug/1701780

At the end it says that the fix is in glib2.0 - 2.54.1-1ubuntu1. I installed
libglib2.0-0, libglib2.0-bin and libglib2.0-data 2.54.1-1 from sid (i'm in
testing) and that fixed my problem!!

So, for me, you can close this bug report. Many thanks for all. Greetings.

Bug#871690: libglib2.0-0: gtk filechooser places populates with *all* filesystems

2017-09-10 Thread Martintxo
Hello again!!

I was searching the internet for look at other occurences of this issue, and I
find this mail thread:
https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gvfs-list/2017-June/msg0.html

In this mail, the second issue I think that is the same that I have, see the
mail attached image, shows the same mount points that I have in the filechooser:
https://i.imgur.com/bmeN4TF.png

By other side, I need to inform that I'm not using any desktop environment, I
use a plain Icewm, and not use nor udisks, nor gvfs. If that's a problem, you
can forget this report, but I think that this is a important issue...

Many thanks for all. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#871690: libglib2.0-0: gtk filechooser places populates with *all* filesystems

2017-08-10 Thread martintxo
Package: libglib2.0-0
Version: 2.53.4-3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Now, when I go to open a file with any gtk (2 & 3) app, now I see the
filechooser dialog "places" side panel populated with all the filesystem in the
machine. They are the same as the output of: 'df -a'. I attach a screenshot of
this dialogue as "dialog-wrong.png"

The past days the dialoges where well. I see that in these days the unique
packages that have changed and will be the culprit are (taken form
/var/log/apt/history):
  libglib2.0-bin:amd64 (2.52.3-1, 2.53.4-3
  libglib2.0-data:amd64 (2.52.3-1, 2.53.4-3)
  libglib2.0-0:amd64 (2.52.3-1, 2.53.4-3)

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I download these packages from snapshot.debian.org, in the version 2.52.3-1,
and install them:

$ export LANG=C && sudo dpkg -i libglib2.0-data_2.52.3-1_all.deb

Buf!!. I don't know... I need explanations for that... but i can connect from
the desktop to the laptop by ssh, so maybe I can make it with some help But
note that the filesystem is mounted readonly if the bug bites...

> If you are on systemd, systemd-journald must have a similar remote logging

Ok, I see in google that for view the log need to use "journalctl". I try it in
the laptop by ssh and get the full /var/log/syslog (I view the two and seems
the same...).

I reinstalled the last version of laptop-mode-tools (1.71-1), reboot when in
battery, get a console only login. Log as root, and type journalctl... I get
the "syslog" log !!! (great).

Now for get a copy of it save somewhere ... I mount the filesystem readwrite
(mount -o remount,rw /) and type: journalctl > /log.txt Success!!

Later I start /etc/init.d/ssh and get the file log.txt by scp Great!! I
attached you.

I can made some other test, I you need. But I need some help for made it. Many
thanks for all the work. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#854479: laptop-mode-tools: With 1.71-1 boot to readonly filesystem if on battery

2017-02-07 Thread martintxo
Package: laptop-mode-tools
Version: 1.70-2
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I'm in a Acer Emachines EM355, with Debian Testing. In the last dist-upgrade,
the last week, I end with a mostly unusable machine. The symptom was that at
the boot put some messages about some services than didn't start, and ends in a
console login without more explanations. Later I know that the root filesystem
was mounted read-only, and that I can mount it read-write, but in every boot it
mounts read-only...

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I investigate some things, but it was hard to know. I try to install passed
versions of systemd, udev...

In some moment, I realized that the battery was to be exhausted, and I put the
box on AC... Later reboot, and all was good!! Miracle :-D

This carry me to investigate in the powersaving packages, and view that laptop-
mode-tools has an update with some tings related to boot. I uninstall it an
voila! The box boot in all the cases.

Now I installed the old version 1.70-2 from snapshot.debian.org, and it works
good for me.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I spend some hours looking at this problem. But now all is working well with
this old version. I hope that you can fix the problem in the new version.

Many thank for your hard work. Excuse my bad english. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#834885: charmtimetracker: please enable idle support

2016-08-20 Thread martintxo
Package: charmtimetracker
Version: 1.11.1-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm using charmtimetracker and works well for me. But the preferences window
have a option greyed and not working: "enable idle detection".

I search the upstream webpage at github and found that this option can be
enabled for linux since nov-2015:
https://github.com/KDAB/Charm/issues/174

And viewing the attached commit:
https://github.com/KDAB/Charm/commit/e13ab1b273ae02feb5c1833d7882529253d99253
I can see that for compile it we need installed: libxcb1-dev and libxcb-
screensaver0-dev.

I installed them, recompiled the source package, and now charmtimetracker
depends too: libxcb-screensaver0 and libxcb1 (see below). And I can enable idle
support from the preferences dialogue (I don't tested it yet)...

So, we can enable this support in the debian package, isn't it?.

Many thanks for your work. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#829467: claws-mail-vcalendar-plugin: Does not allow to delete unused folder

2016-07-03 Thread martintxo
Package: claws-mail-vcalendar-plugin
Version: 3.13.2-1
Severity: minor

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

I use Google Calendar as my only calendar, and view it in Claws-Mail with the
Vcalendar plugin. For this I have subscribed my google calendar with the
"WebCal susbscribe" option, and now I can see my calendar in claws-mail too.
Its name is "mygmailusern...@gmail.com". OK.

But the plugin have another folder named "Meetings". I don't use it, and I want
to delete it, for don't have a mistake... But I can't...

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

For delete this unused folder, I searched in the contextual menu of the plugin
(where I think there will be), in the preferences, or in the config files in my
home. I try too, to unload de plugin and then load it, to see if the unused
folder disappears. At the end, I unload the plugin, close claws-mail, edit the
file ~/.claws-mail/folderlist.xml where this folder is referenced, and quit the
line where this is, save and load the plugin... The folder appears again :-/

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I have a folder for a calendar that I don't use, and sometimes I made click on
it for mistake... Not a problem, but an annoyance...

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

To have a option to delete any folder in the contextual menu of the plugin.

This is a bug that the upstream have to correct, so send it if you wish. Many
thanks for mantain this app. Greetings. Martintxo.

connman and connmand-ui. The last package was at the version on testing now
(0~20130115-1).

But with the panel and systray at bottom the list of available wifis was
unusable. See the same report at: https://github.com/tbursztyka/connman-
ui/issues/15

I downloaded the source code from github, compiled with the supplied debian
source packages for testing, and now I have a new connmann-ui that works with
the pannel at bottom. So the patch is to package the new version at github ;-D

Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#819585: local-apt-repository: add a "suite" name to local-apt-repository.list

2016-03-31 Thread Martintxo
Hello

I don't know how this things works. I'm only a user (a poweruser maybe)...

But (in my use cases at least) I don't think that a way to put the
local-apt-repository packages in most priority than others is a good idea. For
me, the use of local-apt-repository is only for testing purposes, or for last
resort problem solving...

But you know better than me :-D Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#819585: local-apt-repository: add a "suite" name to local-apt-repository.list

2016-03-30 Thread martintxo
Package: local-apt-repository
Version: 0.3
Severity: wishlist

Dear Maintainer,

Well, local-apt-repository works so good for me :-D But maybe we can do it
better. An example:

I'm in testing.

I need to use a old version of amule, because the one in testing have so many
bugs... So I download the following packages from snapshot.debian.org with a
web browser: amule, amule-common, amule-daemon, amule-utils, amule-utils-gui. I
move all packages to /srv/local-apt-repository/ and...

For install this packages that are oldest versions that I have in my testing
box, I need to specify the suite or the version. But in /etc/apt/sources.list.d
/local-apt-repository.list I can't see a suite name... Is only:
  deb [trusted=yes] file:///var/lib/local-apt-repository/ ./

So I install all my packages appending it version number to _all_ the package
names. Maybe there is a better mode, but I don't know...

Maybe if you can put a fake suite name, as "local-apt-repository" we can
install our packages with it.

I don't know if it is possible. If not, close this report.

Many thanks for all. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#819505: gtk3-nocsd: dont works in apps launched from mate menu

Ok. I install gedit. Then close the session and re-login. If I start gedit from
the menu, it appears without the mate titlebar. If I start it from
mate-terminal it appears with the correct mate titlebar :-/

I can confirm, also, that gedit is working as expected (with the wm title bar)
in Xfce and Lxde... but not in (my) Mate...

No, I dont configure nothing, just install the packages and read the docs... I
restart the pc an try diferent DE in some days...

...

Well, I now updating all the packages (apt-get update, apt-get upgrade, apt-get
dist-upgrade). I had the system without update from 2 weeks or so. In the
process I see that mate-settings-daemon have be updated...

At the end I restart the pc, start gedit... and... Bingo !!!. Now gtk3-nocsd is
working fine. Maybe it was the previous version of mate-settings-daemon ??.

In the apt/term.log, I can see:

.../mate-settings-daemon_1.12.1-2_i386.deb deskonprimitzeko prestatzen...
mate-settings-daemon (1.12.1-2) deskonprimitzen (1.12.1-1) gainean...

mate-settings-daemon-common (1.12.1-2) deskonprimitzen (1.12.1-1) gainean...

So, the change in mate-settings-daemon is from 1.12.1-1 to 1.12.1-2... In the
changelog:
http://metadata.ftp-master.debian.org/changelogs/main/m/mate-settings-daemon/mate-settings-daemon_1.12.1-2_changelog
I can see that there are some patch for the xcursor... Maybe that is :-D

You can close this report for me. Many thanks for all, and excuse this "false"
report. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#819505: gtk3-nocsd: dont works in apps launched from mate menu

2016-03-29 Thread martintxo
Package: gtk3-nocsd
Version: 2-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I installed the gtk3-nocsd and libgtk3-nocsd0 packages from sid in this testing
box without problems. I read all the docs in the packages, and the upstream web
page at github. I see that in Debian the packages are intended to work
automagically.

I'm in a little portatil (emachines) with Mate as default DE, and also with
Xfce and Lxde.

If I start gnome-disk (as example) from the Mate default aplications menu, it
starts without modification. But if I start it from any "X terminal" (in my
case mate-terminal) the gtk3-noscd packages works and the gnome-disk start with
a nice window bar from the Mate default window manager...

In the other DE (current in testing xfce4 and lxde) the packages works as
expected from the menus and from any xterminal...

This is the output from my env command:

Bug#807964: [python3-pafy] some videos dont works in mps-youtube, error says "javascript"

2015-12-14 Thread Martintxo
Package: python3-pafy
Version: 0.3.78-1
Severity: normal

Hello

I'm in testing, now using:
ii mps-youtube 0.2.5-5
ii python3-pafy0.3.78-1

With some videos mps-youtube has an error like in:
https://github.com/mps-youtube/mps-youtube/issues/378

So, the problem is in the pafy version 0.3.78... We need the version 0.4.2 or
newest for solve this...

But I have test to "compile" a new pafy package with these sources and the final
error is (it is not literal): no module youtube_dl...

I have youtube-dl installed:
youtube-dl 2015.11.27.1-1
but it is a python 2 program, and mps-youtube and pafy are python 3. I think
that this is the problem and it not find the youtube_dl module...

So, I think that this is hard to solve. The key is in this debian bugreport for
youtube-dl, when it is requested to go to python 3:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=723990

I'm not a developer, and I may be wrong, but if it is the case, you can tell
to the youtube-dl maintainer to go to python 3... :-D

Excuse my bad english. Many thanks for maintain this. Greetings. Martintxo.

Hello

I'm install the new version of font-manager downloading a ubuntu package from:

After a few error windows derived for changes in the user config... the program
is working well, and the error report in the starting of all gtk apps:

So, I think that a packaging of the new version is desirable.

   * What led up to the situation?

I download the audiotools package from the debian sid repository, and try to
install in a debian testing box, with the gdebi app. All was good, no
dependencies problems... but at the end I get this:

This is basque language. It says that the /usr/share/man/man1/cdplay.1.gz file
in the audiotools package is too in the cdtool package.

If you goes to the file list pages, you can see that this packages share so
many files:

/usr/share/man/man1/cdplay.1.gz

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

I can't install audiotools package.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I can't use audiotools package whitout uninstall cdtool.

Can you rename the conflicting files, please :-DD

Bug#787738: [upgrade-reports] wheezy to jessie boot problem in ata_piix kernel module

2015-06-04 Thread Martintxo
Package: upgrade-reports
Version: wheezy to jessie
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

Hello

I have a boot hang similar to described in bug #776192. The resolution has be
inspired in that bugreport too:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=776192

The server is a old one, but works well in our local radio-station. Is a Intel®
L440GX+
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/18918/Intel-L440GX-Server-Board

It have 2 Pentium III (Katmai) processors, and this is the lspci output:
00:00.0 Host bridge: Intel Corporation 440GX - 82443GX Host bridge
00:01.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 440GX - 82443GX AGP bridge

01:0f.0 PCI bridge: Digital Equipment Corporation DECchip 21150 (rev 06)

The wheezy to jessie upgrade goes well. But in the reboot after dist-upgrade, I
can't boot with the jessie kernel 3.16.0-4. In the screen (after quit quiet
from /etc/default/grub), I can see a lot of:
/script/local-block (or something, I annotate them in paper)
and it finished with an initramfs prompt...

From this prompt, in dmesg, I can see these errors:
scsi2: error handler thread failed to spawn, error = -4
ata_piix: probe of :00:12.1 failed with error -12

A google search with the first error bring me to #776192. It is not the same
case, but it is similar. The only difference is in the kernel module.

As in that bugreport, I can boot without problems with the wheezy kernel
3.2.0-4, with systemd, and with sysvinit. But not with the jessie one
(3.16.0-4), neither with systemd or sysvinit.

In that bugreport last email:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=776192#56
said that the bug in in udev, and it is solved in version 217. In SID is the
version 220-4. I download this 2 packages from the debian webpage:
ii libudev1:i386 220-4i386 libudev shared library
ii udev 220-4i386 /dev/ and hotplug management daem
and install it without problems in stable, and now the server is running well.
It boot well with the jessie stable kernel 3.16.0-4.

Thats all. This report is only for information. For me the problem is solved.

Many thanks. Excuse my bad english. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#766870: podget: MOST_RECENT=1 and -r 1 or --recent 1 not working in 0.7.3

and it is working fine for me.

I tested the 3 parameters (MOST_RECENT=1, -r 1 and --recent 1) and all
works as expected.

Great job !!. I only wait now for the inclusion of this new version in Debian
Testing, for land it in Stable latter.

Bug#766870: podget: MOST_RECENT=1 and -r 1 or --recent 1 not working in 0.7.3

2014-10-26 Thread Martintxo
Package: podget
Version: 0.7.3-1
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

I'm using podget 0.5.8-1 in a server with Debian stable for a small FM radio.
It's working fine. Many thanks for it.

In that server I have this setting in podgetrc (I repeat, is podget 0.5.8):
 most_recent=1
It is working fine, it only downloads the last (mor new) episode of the podcast,
and this is what I need in this case :-D

Now, I'm testing podget in Debian testing for know if it is working in the same
way. I need to stay ready for the new version when Debian testing will be
stable.

So, in my home computer, with Debian testing and podget 0.7.3-1, I create a new
config: delete the full ~/.podget dir, and run podget -vv. It says that it will
donwload one episode from one podcast to test it. In my case it download some
episodes, not one.

Well, I need to check my config like in the radio server. I change the podgetrc
in my home computer (for podget 0.7.3) and put:
 MOST_RECENT=1
and serverlist for put one of my podcast:
 http://www.democracynow.org/podcast-es.xml DemocracyNow
and test it. And the same, It downloads all the podcast in this URL (in this
moment it have 11 enclosure, and I get 11 mp3 in the download dir...)

So I test the -r 1 and the --recent 1 comand line options, and I get the
same result.

I don't know what happens, I check the source code of both scripts (0.5.8 and
0.7.3) and look pretty the same in this case. In any way, the line at 1495
(0.7.3):
 INDEXFILE=$(echo ${INDEXFILE} | cut -d \  -f -${MOST_RECENT})
look wrong, it isn't the -d option of cut must be surrounded with quotes?
(and there are 2 spaces later)...

Well. That is my report. Sorry for my bad english, I'm and spanish speaker.
Greetings. Martintxo.

Hello again, and excuse for another post !

I find in this blog post from Adobe, that only the 11.2 and newer versions of
flash player will be supported :-/ (until february 2017)
http://blogs.adobe.com/flashplayer/2012/02/adobe-and-google-partnering-for-flash-player-on-linux.html

But you can maintain the 10.3 too and put a warning saying that it hasn't
security support !!.

Greetings. Mtx.

Bug#732676: flashplugin-nonfree: Please leave the nosse2 option

2013-12-31 Thread Martintxo
Hello

I updated my testing box, and now I don't have the flash plugin installed. I'm
an happy user of the flashplugin-nonfree package, that have a Pentium III
without sse2. I was so happy with the (now gone) --nosse2 option !!

My last manual procedure for install the flash plugin that works in this box is:
- Go to
  http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html
- Find the newest 10.3 version and download the zip package.
- Unzip it and get the XXX_linux.tar.gz package
- Install the libflashplayer.so file.

Today I make these steps and flash is working now !!.

For make a help and solve this bug report, I look into the flashplugin-nonfree
3.3 source code at
http://snapshot.debian.org/package/flashplugin-nonfree/1%3A3.3/

I see that the procedure in the file get-upstream-version.pl seems similar to
my procedure (I know nothing about perl, but I can see the same url for the
download)...

Maybe, the confusion in the script is because now there are two versions 10.3
in http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html,
the first is Mac only (Released 7/9/2013), and the second is for all
architectures (Released 6/11/2013). The last one is the version that works
in my system !! :-D

I don't know if this explanation is usefull. Many thanks for your hard work.
Greetings. Martintxo.

Hello

I dist-upgrade my testing box today and this (re)-install the locate package. I

I deinstall both, locate and catfish, download the catfish package from
packages.debian.org, unpack it, and run it. And I can see that it can work
without a locate installation.

So I think that this package can work without the locate depend. I think that

Fontmanager create the deprecated file $HOME/.fonts.conf. If I move it to

/etc/fonts/conf.d/50-user.conf, Fontmanager created it newly.

So I can't remove the warning:

Thanks in advance for the patch. Keep on maintaining Debian. Greetings.

Bug#732647: RFP: mintstick -- USB stick formatter

2013-12-19 Thread martintxo
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist

Package name: mintstick
Version: 1.1.9
Upstream Author: Clement Lefebvre r...@linuxmint.com
URL: https://github.com/linuxmint/mintstick
License: GPL v2
Programming Lang: Python
Description: USB stick formatter, GUI in gtk3 and python. It can serve for
write .img and .iso files to USB sticks too.

I'm searching for a tool for that the end user can format a usb stick (usb
flash drive) in the desktop. I think that both Gnome and KDE have these tool.
But I not find one for other lightweight environments like Xfce or LXDE... I
found too in http://wnpp.debian.net/ and in
http://www.debian.org/distrib/packages ...

Now I find mintstick, a tool written in python and gtk3, that works in Linux
Mint. I try it in Debian Testing and works more or less for usb format (in my
system it works only for root or with sudo) :-/. Try it as: sudo mintstick -m
format

Here are other links:
  https://github.com/linuxmint/mintstick
  http://packages.linuxmint.com/pool/main/m/mintstick/
  http://segfault.linuxmint.com/2013/08/usb-stick-formatter/

I would like to see this tool (or another similar) in Debian. Thanks in advance
and excuse my bad english (I'm from Spain). Greetings. Martintxo.

offer a zenity package provides field and a zenity binary (or simbolic link,

OK. I think that all mate-dialogs packages were be build alltogether :-D. No
problem !!

Btw. I'm now using the debian official mate-dialog packages like a zenity
replacement in a Jessie box, with icewm as wm. I only make the following
simbolic link:
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 aza 30 12:30 /usr/bin/zenity - /usr/bin/matedialog
and all is working without trouble.

Keep in this packaging effort !!. Many thanks. Greetings. Mtx.

The packaging of Mate is still work-in-progress and the fact that
mate-dialogs-gnome is missing doesn't mean we don't package it but
that we haven't packaged it yet.

Mate consists of over 50 single packages and it takes some time to get
them into Debian, please be patient.

Unless the other Mate maintainers object, I'd like to close this bug

Bug#727815: aptitude: spanish manpage, safe-upgrade section, translation wrong

2013-10-27 Thread martintxo
Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.8.2-1.2
Severity: minor
Tags: l10n

Dear Maintainer,

The spanish manpage of aptitude, in the safe-upgrade section, says the
following:
Los paquetes instalados se eliminarán a menos que no se utilizen
This means (more or less):
Installed packages will be removed unless they are unused

The english manpage says the following, that is OK:
Installed packages will not be removed unless they are unused
So the spanish traslation would be:
Los paquetes instalados NO se eliminarán a menos que no se utilizen
The remarked NO is not necesary :-D.

Thats all. Many thanks for the work. Greetings. Martintxo.

Actually this file get's converted during build and is available in lnav: If
you start lnav and press '?' for help, you get more information, the online
help, which is this help.txt found in the sources.

 From lnav manpage:

? View/leave the online help text.

Does this suffice your need for online help for lnav?

Normally after I install a new package, i search for the man page and
the /usr/share/doc files for information.

In this case I encounter only de man page, that is limited, and nothing in
the doc dir, so i have to find in internet for more info... So, yes, I think
that is good that this file was in the doc dir :-D

I see that the package only ships the man page as information on how to use

think that you can install the help file that is in

Bug#615075: openshot: provide menu and pixmaps

2012-01-30 Thread Martintxo
Hello Jonathan:

The debian menu files are used for all de WM that are Debian Menu aware.

Currently Debian has two menu systems: the Debian Menu System (this files)
that are in use for all the minor WM, and the Freedesktop specification menu,
that are in use for the major DE (Gnome, KDE...). I read about it in
http://wiki.debian.org/DebianMenu

So I think that if you add these files, the Gnome, KDE... menues will be
maintained like now, and the other WM will be add a Openshot entry in these
menues :-D

Thanks in advance. Greetings. Mtx.

As you can see, I get this email at b...@terxxx.es (in last Received

I don't see the To or Cc headers here, which are the relevant ones
to decide the corresponding account. Where are they?

Ah! OK (and excuses for the bad bug report). Yo are right, there are no To or
Cc headers in the original email. It seems that the mail was mailed to a
undisclosed-recipients account. But I look at others emails that I get with
BCC, and all have the header: To: undisclosed-recipients:;. In this case the
(bad) mailer don't put a To header.

In these others mails, there are too other headers that claws can use for
identify the receipt adress: X-Original-To: and Delivered-To: por example.
There aren't in this original mail too :-/.

My only concern is: Are there X-Original-To: and Delivered-To: (or similar
ones) used in claws-mail for identify the receipt adress?. If the answer is
yes, this bugreport is not for claws-mail, is for the unknow bad mailer
that send the original mail :-D. Then, you can close this bugreport at all.

Many thanks and excuse the work for nothing. Martintxo.

As you can see, I get this email at b...@terxxx.es (in last Received header).

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

For the first time (:-D), i need to attend this acknowledgment and I click in
the OK of the send acknowledgment? window. The acknowledgment mail is
sent...

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I go to the Outbox folder to see the acknowledgment mail that i sent, and I
realize that it was sent from the default account of Claws-mail
(a...@sinxxx.net), and no from the account that gets the original email
(b...@terxxx.es). Here you have the headers of the acknowledgment mail I have in

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I think that the acknowledgment mail must be sent from the original mail

That's all. I think that this bug is for the upstream developers, but I report
it in debian with reportbug for ease :-D. Excuse my bad english (I speak

Bug#651080: rawdog: post dates missing in output, sortbyfeeddate not working

2011-12-05 Thread Martintxo
Package: rawdog
Version: 2.13.dfsg.1-1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

Dear Maintainer,

Playing with rawdog now (I used it years ago), I see that the post date is not
shown in the output html file. And, if I use the option sortbyfeeddate true
in the config, it hasn't any effect :-/.

Googling, I find this thread with the same problem in the project mailinglist:
http://lists.us-lot.org/pipermail/rawdog-users/2010-November/000304.html.

In this message you have the solution:
http://lists.us-lot.org/pipermail/rawdog-users/2010-November/000306.html.

The patch is to revert the changes made in 2.13, that are shown in the last
message. I try it, editing by hand the file
/usr/share/pyshared/rawdoglib/rawdog.py, and is working fine for me. I don't
know anything for coding, but... :-D

Thanks in advance. Greetings. Martintxo.

Only one complain. I will appreciate to start openshot from my IceWM
menu system, so I made two icons (from the openshot.svg shiped in the package,
converted with gimp, at 48x48 px) and a openshot.menu (based in
openshot.desktop). Put the icons in /usr/share/pixmaps/ and the menu
in /usr/share/menu/ and all OK !!.

Many thanks for maintain openshot in Debian. Excuse my bad english.

Bug#593232: usbmount: don't have the README file

2010-08-16 Thread Martintxo
Package: usbmount
Version: 0.0.21
Severity: normal

I update today my squeeze box, and read about the changes in usbmount by apt-
listchanges. But when I go to see these changes in the README file (I expect
it in /usr/share/doc/usbmount), I can't find it.

However I see it at
http://git.debian.org/?p=usbmount/usbmount.git;a=tree :-??. I think that this
file was lost in the packaging process.

BTW, in some bugreports I read about future changes in usbmount to make it no
dependant of presents dirs to mount removable pens. I like this
feature!! :-DD. Go ahead.

Finally, congratulations to all the Debian comunity !!

Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#494704: [abiword] depends on libgnome and libbonobo through libgoffice

2009-11-22 Thread Martintxo
Hello:

Tue, 17 Nov 2009 19:05:12 +0100 eguna,
Patrik Fimml pat...@fimml.at(e)k idatzi zuen:

 Version: 2.8.1-1

 Hey,

the latest version of the abiword package uses goffice 0.8, which has
modest dependencies besides GTK+. In particular, libgnome and libbonobo
are no longer among them. I am thus closing this bug.

Yes, I agree. I install the new abiword 2.8.1-1 from SID and it pull only the
following packages in my box:

   libgoffice-0-8 libgoffice-0-8-common libgucharmap7 libpsiconv6

I have installed from other packages too:

ii libgnomecanvas2-0 2.26.0-1 A powerful object-oriented
ii libgnomeprint2.2-0 2.18.6-1 The GNOME 2.2 print
ii libgnomeprint2.2-data 2.18.6-1 The GNOME 2.2 print archite
ii libgnomeprintui2.2-0 2.18.4-1 GNOME 2.2 print
ii libgnomeprintui2.2-common 2.18.4-1 GNOME 2.2 print

But the others packages (libgnome, libbonobo...) now there isn't in my box
and now I have some more room in it. Many thanks for the work. Greetings.

Bug#361693: usbmount-0.0.17.1: Patch to automatically create (and delete) mountpoints

2009-10-02 Thread Martintxo
Hello:

As I said in other bug reports, I'm testing usbmount, and I think that
it is a so useful app. for lightweight systems.

But I missed the lack of an on-demand mountpoint create and delete. With this
feature, I think that the system is friendly for a normal user (where is the
newly plugged usbstick?, ah! in the newly created dir under /media :-D).

For that, I tryed the pach in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=361693. I apply it by hand
to /usr/share/usbmount/usbmount and add the new options
to /etc/usbmount/usbmount.conf. The pach still runs OK: it creates the
mountpoint at usb plugg, but don't removes it, as saids in the bugreport
#361693.

For this issue I create a workaround that:

1. At usb-plugg stores some variables in /tmp/usbbmount. For identify the usb
number, I get the info from /var/log/syslog, so this package should be
installed and running.

2. At usb-detach reads the variables from /tmp/usbbmount and deletes the
corresponding mountpoint. I need to get the info about what usb-stick was
detached from syslog, because I don't find any other place, all udev apps
are useless now that device is removed !!.

As you can see, the workaround is so weak, as it depends in syslog. But is
working OK for me. I attached it.

I see that usbmout need to be changed as result of some changes in udev, so I
see that this pach will be changed in the future. It is so weak too. But you
can use it as a first point for a stronger one :-DD

Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#548785: usbmount: NEWS file is not in the package

2009-10-01 Thread Martintxo
Hello Rogério

OK, I see the bug #548627 :-D

Now I'm testing a possible feature for create the mountpoints on demand, from
the patch in http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=361693. I apply
it (by hand) and it works, but the mountpoints are not deleted on umount (I
see that the problem is in
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=356227).

Now I have a workarround that works for me, but I need to test it and later I
will send you through #361693. I see that this patch will not be useful
if the package changes, but I think that this feature will be interesting for
the user.

Another thing!: I'm using pmount for the manual umounting of mounted
usb-stiks, prior for detach them. I think that if we use async for preserve
the device, we need to umount it cleanly, and for it pmount is OK.

You can speak about pmount in the README, in the section about vfat devices
and the async option.

That's all for now. Greetings. Martintxo.

The package will receive some modifications now, given that udev

OK. I'm planning on removing this device-name thing for the moment,
to refactor usbmount and reintroduce it once everything is working fine.

That's all. Many thanks for this lightweigth system for mount devices.

Thank you very much for using usbmount. I'm very fond of the idea of

some that I keep on a personal repository of mine). If you are
interested, perhaps we could co-maintain some packages.

Bug#538878: mrxvt: some default settings can't be overriden

2009-08-19 Thread Martintxo
Hello

I have the same issue with mrxvt-0.5.4-1.

In my case the ofending option is Mrxvt.shading, in /etc/mrxvt/mrxvtrc.
Without coment it, elinks don't work fine with mrxvt (always shows a dark
background). So I need to comment it.

I diffied /etc/mrxvt/mrxvtrc in mrxvt-0.5.4-1 and mrxvt-0.5.3-2, and in
0.5.4-1 the file has a GENERAL SETTINGS section that there isn't in the
0.5.3-2 file. If I coment out all the section, mrxvt and elinks works OK.

So please, don't ship the file with that section.

Thanks in advance. Grettings. Martintxo.

Bug#527123: when printing abiword crashes

2009-05-26 Thread Martintxo
Oops, looking at the DBTS i find the same bug, I send mine too, so it has more
info...

Package: abiword
Version: 2.6.8-5
Severity: normal

Today I upgrade my box from Lenny to Squeeze.

Now, wen I start abiword, type something and goes to print it, abiword crashes
and disapears. In the console I get the following error (two times):

** (abiword:9782): WARNING **: IPP request failed with status 1280

I googled and find this workaround. It works for me, but it don't fix the
problem:
http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=547492#p547492

I think that the proper solution is in the upstreams hands (in that thread
someone says something about upstream mailinglist).

Thanks. Martintxo.

Bug#508838: upgrade-reports: etch - lenny: don't keep dbus-x11 package

2008-12-15 Thread Martintxo
Package: upgrade-reports
Severity: normal (or less, I don't know well)

From Etch to Lenny on 3 PC, 2 with xfce and 1 with kde (both desktop the
standard from etch). In both cases the upgrade was OK. I make the upgrade
with (in this order):

apt-get update
apt-get upgrade
apt-get dist-upgrade

Afther this, I have a funciponal desktop (kde or xfce) like in etch, but with
the following problems:

- I don't have sound from some apps that are configured for OSS /devs/ (no
problem, I read the bug 500460, and added the modules snd-mixer-oss and
snd-pcm-oss to /etc/modules).

- In the Xfce desktop I can't see any notification through the
notification-daemon-xfce (for example, for safe remove a mounted usb-stick).
Prior to the upgrade I knew that this system works OK, I see at the installed
packages and see that the dbus-x11 package wasn't installed (and prior to the
upgrade it was, so it was removed in the process without my know :-?). After
I manually installed dbus-x11, notification-daemon-xfce turns to work OK.

In the 'KDE' PC there ISN'T installed the package dbus-x11 too, but I don't
know if it is needed for the notifications, so I use soo little this computer
and I don't use any notification. I don't know too if it was installed prior
to the upgrade. Now I test it for plug a usb-stik and copy a great file to
it, and all the notifications are OK but I think all of then was from the
konkeror filemanager and not for any notification daemon (I don't see if
there are any of them installed in the KDE computer).

My packages now installed from xfce in the 'XFCE' PCs are;

ii gtk2-engines-xfce 2.4.2-2
ii libxfce4mcs-client3 4.4.2-4
ii libxfce4mcs-dev 4.4.2-4

ii xfce4-cpugraph-plugin 0.3-2
ii xfce4-icon-theme 4.4.2-1
ii xfce4-mcs-manager 4.4.2-3
ii xfce4-mcs-manager-dev4.4.2-3
ii xfce4-mcs-plugins 4.4.2-4
ii xfce4-panel 4.4.2-6
ii xfce4-panel-dev4.4.2-6
ii xfce4-session 4.4.2-6
ii xfce4-utils4.4.2-8

ii xfdesktop4 4.4.2-7
ii xfdesktop4-data 4.4.2-7
ii xfwm4 4.4.2-5
ii xfwm4-themes 4.4.2-1

That's all. I see that the problem is'nt important, and maybe only related to
the xfce desktop. But it brokens the user interface for mount and unmount
usbs...

Many thanks for this superb distro. Excuse my bad englusht. Greetints.
Martintxo.

Bug#506785: [poppler-utils] pdftohtml reverse images

2008-11-24 Thread Martintxo
Package: poppler-utils
Severity: normal
Tags: patch

I try to conver a large pdf with some images in it to html with:
 pdftohtml -p -c -dev jpeg file.pdf

I make some probes with others options like -dev png16m... but in all cases
the result was the same, all images result rotates in 90º clockwise.

Later I check for the pdftohtml version (pdftohtml -v) and I realize that it
was 0.36, but I found that in the sourceforge project page
(http://www.sourceforge.net/projects/pdftohtml/) there are some other newer
versions.

I was unable to compile the last stable release (0.39) but the
experimental one (0.40) compiles without problems in Lenny.

With this version all my images are OK. So for me the patch is to throw away
the poppler pdftohtml app and make a package with the pdftohtml from
soruceforge. I install the xpdf-utils package (this one don't have any
pdftohtml app but the other pdf related apps yes) and make a checkinstall
package with this new version. Works OK.

Excuse my bad english. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#494704: [abiword] depends on libgnome and libbonobo through libgoffice

2008-08-11 Thread Martintxo
Package: abiword
Version: 2.6.4-4

Hello:

saw how my abiword package don't updated, so I make a dist-upgrade for update
it.

In this process I saw how a lot of new packages was for be installed, so I
stoped the process, and uninstall abiword.

Now I installed abiword and that's the result:

bertsio-berritu gabe.
Artxiboetako 11,1MB eskuratu behar dira.
Ekintza honen ondoren, 41,3MB gehiago erabiliko dira diskoan.

As you can see, the _new_ packages:
  libbonobo2-0 libbonobo2-common libgnome2-0 libgnome2-common libgnomevfs2-0
  libgnomevfs2-common libgoffice-0-4 libgoffice-0-common
was installed by installing abiword. I track it and see that now the abiword
package depends on libgoffice-0-4, and this on libgnome2-0...

In the abiword changelog I can see a bit (on abiword (2.6.4-1)) about that
now there isn't a abiword-gnome package because now debian only ship a gtk
version. But this seems to be not true...

I was make the change probably betewen abiword 2.6.3-x and this 2.6.4-4.

The problem is with the libgoffice library, and I think (I'm not a developer,
and don't have any skills for it) that it is only necesary for the
abiword-plugin-goffice package, and I don't have it installed:

||/ Izena Bertsioa  Azalpena
+++-=
un abiword-plugin-goffice bat ere ez (azalpena ez dago erabilgarri)

And I read that the abiword developers are saying that abiword don't depends
on Gnome, only for the print proccess. See the 4. response in this interview:
http://www.redhatmagazine.com/2008/05/08/abiword-team-interview/. In this
text the developer says too that libgoffice is only needed for the gnumeric
import plugin, so I think that we don't need this depend in the abiword
package, only in the abiword-plugin-goffice package.

This problem is not so important, but I don't need some of these 41,3MB extra
in my HD :-/. That's all. Excuse my bad english. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#485013: [ibackup] Ibackup lost the user settings in a package actualization

2008-06-07 Thread Martintxo
Package: ibackup
Version: 2.27-4.1
Severity: important
Tags: patch

In the last update of the ibackup package I lost my own config.

Following /usr/share/doc/ibackup/ibackup.html (see: Can I add support for
other configurations?), I had my own backup paths and configs in the
/usr/bin/ibackup script (following code of the other ones). But in the last
update the script was overwrited and in some automated backups (by cron) I get
a 0 bytes tar.gz :-/. Fortunately I realize it and now the problem is fixed in
my box.

But I think that the correct way to set this user backup paths and configs is
in the ibackup.conf that the package have in
the /usr/share/doc/ibackup/examples/ dir and the README.Debian says to copy
to /etc.

For this I test the following (and it works !!). Please review the code, so I
don't have the skills for make it safe/good:

1. In /usr/bin/ibackup put the following (a new target for the user config,
named user ;-)):

 case $@ in *user*)
eval $usercmd
;;
 esac

2. In /usr/share/doc/ibackup/examples/ibackup.conf put the following (the
location for the user paths and configs):

#Add a user backup config (comands and paths)
 # like the ones in /usr/bin/ibackup:
 usercmd=''

3. In /usr/share/doc/ibackup/README.Debian, add some relevant info about how
to use this new way of have a user backup config. Example: (in the 1. point):
For get a personal backup configuration and paths, you can see the ones
in the /usr/bin/ibackup script and copy anyone to your /etc/ibackup.conf, in
the usercmd field (put the code between the brackets ('')). Then edit the
code to fit your needs. Now you can create your own backups by execute:
 'ibackup user'.

And that's all. Maybe this package is not important, and this bug report fall
in the forgotten box. But the impact off any update for the user config in
ibackup can be important by the lost of data and user settings.

Thats all. Many thanks for the attendance. Excuse my bad english. Greetings.
Martintxo.

Bug#472255: Package don't works, need compiled suport for libnotify in libexo

2008-03-22 Thread Martintxo
Package: notification-daemon-xfce
Version: 0.3.7-1
Severity: normal

Hello, and wellcome to Debian, notification-daemon-xfce package !! :-D

I was waiting to this package in Debian for months.

In other computer (not here), I have a Debian Etch installed, with xfce. It
is for a public use, and for get a more easy use for my users, I compiled and
installed Thunar-0.9.0 and libexo-0.3.4 from the debian source packages (and
maybe some others), and notification-daemon-xfce from a tar.gz from it's home
page.

Later, for get that notification-daemon-xfce works, I realized that I need
libnotify support (see
http://thunar.xfce.org/documentation/C/using-removable-media.html, under To
Eject Media). So I install the libnotify-dev package and recompile libexo.

Now, in my libexo package I can see the libnotify1 depends, but not in
http://packages.debian.org/sid/libexo-0.3-0. So I think that this is the
problem for notification-daemon-xfce to not works in my Lenny environment at
home.

Mybe this bug-report should go to the libexo package, but I don't know. Feel
free to alter it.

Many thanks. Excuse my poor english. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#469907: liferea-webkit: Can't paste selected text

2008-03-07 Thread Martintxo
Package: liferea-webkit
Version: 1.4.12-1
Severity: normal

Tired for the recurse hungry of liferea with the xullrunner interface, I test
the webkit one. All goes OK for now (only a one day test, but no crashes for
now).

Only one thing bother me: I can select the text in the news area (i see it
in blue), but this text CAN'T be pasted in any other application (I test it
even with xclipboard).

However, if I uninstall the liferea-webkit package and therefore I start
using the xull interface, i CAN paste the selected text in any
application !!. So I think that the bug is in the webkit interface.

My system is a Debian/Lenny that was updated yesterday. As window manager I
use Icewm, and I not use any Gnome application (the paste test with gtk
applications were made with abiword and sylpheed).

That's all. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#458441: Add mrxvt to the supported console list

2007-12-31 Thread Martintxo
Package: yeahconsole
Version: 0.3.4-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello:

Finding for a lightweight replacement for game-like consoles, like the ones
in kubuntu (I think that this is yakuake, see:
http://www.debianadmin.com/yakuake-terminal-in-a-quake-style.html), I try
yeahconsole. It's great!!!.

I like the tabbed consoles and usually use mrxvt. For this, i test mrxvt with
yeaconsole, and it works fine!!. Only put 'yeahconsole*term:mrxvt' in
your .Xdefaults file and voila!! :-D.

A good config for this is (in ~/.Xdefaults):
  yeahconsole*term:mrxvt -sr -sl 500 -bt
  yeahconsole*toggleKey:None+F12
  yeahconsole*aniDelay:10
  yeahconsole*consoleHeight:20
  yeahconsole*xOffset:5
With this you have a console that drops fast from the up of the screen
(aniDelay), when you press the F12 key (toggleKey) and have a bar in the
down side for open some tabs. Amazing, no? :-D.

For this, I think that we can put mrxvt in the supported console list, and
put a dependency like the xterm and rxvt-unicode ones.

Many thanks for all. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#438612: problem corrected in zim-0.20

2007-08-23 Thread Martintxo
Hello again:

Yesterday, I find in its web page that zim have a new version (0.20). I
download it and build with the zim-0.19 debian source files
(zim_0.19-1.diff.gz zim_0.19-1.dsc) without problems.

Now I'm testing this zim-0.20 and I think that the previous problems with the
internall links don't appears in this version. The author has made some
changes in the links (from the changelog):

=== 0.20 - Sun Aug 19 2007 ===
* Fixed bug causing infinite loop after Link on some platforms
* Fixed bug that could corrupt links when updating links after move

The new version fixes too some other small problems and glitches :-D, so I
think that with a new debian package all my problems with zim will be go :-D

That's all. Thanks in advance. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#439129: gtk print preview fallback command

2007-08-22 Thread Martintxo
Package: libgtk2.0-0
Version: 2.10.13-1
Severity: wishlist

Hello:

I was testing the print-preview feature in Sylpheed 2.4.4 on testing. I see
that when I press the preview button, nothing happens, but in a xterm I can
see that the system try to starts evince.

I don't have evince installed, neither any gnome library. I see that in the
experimentall branch there are a evince-gtk package that doesn't needs gnome,
but I don't need to install it, I have xpdf for view pdf files.

So I googled a bit, and find at:
http://library.gnome.org/devel/gtk/unstable/GtkSettings.html#GtkSettings--gtk-print-preview-command,
that the config for this setting is gtk-print-preview-command, so I put in
~/.gtkrc-2.0 the following:
 gtk-print-preview-command=xpdf -q %f
and now I can see the sylpheed print-preview in xpdf.

So, I think that we can put a short of fallback command for view the previews
in gtk. It can be a list of possible commands, and the fallback one be xpdf
or gv, for example.

That's all. Many thanks for the great work. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#438612: zim: internal links don't work

2007-08-18 Thread Martintxo
Package: zim
Version: 0.19-1
Severity: normal

I find that, after a few usages of zim, the wiki internal links stops
working on my box. It's so strange, so I can't see any difference between the
previous behaviour and the following (wrong) one.

I was tweaking my config (the ~/.config/zim/ files, and the ~/repositorie/
files), and finally I found a workarround:

In my ~/repositorie/ dir I have the .zim.cache and .zim.history.cache files.
If I delete this files, a new ones are created when I start zim, and now the
links works well the whole session.

So now, I starts zim as following;
zim 'masnotas' Home sleep 2 rm /home/martintxo/zim2/.*cache

In this maner, after a zim usage, the 2 cache files are deleted and in the
next ussage the bug don't appears :-D.

Mybe the problem is in my config :-?.

Bug#426369: thunar: Whit LANG=eu_ES don't show the file's date

2007-05-28 Thread Martintxo
Package: thunar
Version: 0.8.0-3
Severity: normal
Tags: l10n

Hello:

I'm have a Debian/Etch environment instaled from the stable release time. In
the last days I have playing with xfce4 (the default packages from Etch). In
the first time I noticed that in thunar I can't see the file's dates (no last
modification date, neither last acces date) that are more aged than one week.
I only can see the dates that are from the last week (I can see: monday,
thusday but in basque languaje :-D).

For other rasons (for see how the new thunar manages removable devices), I
compiled and instaled thunar_0.8.0-3 and libexo-0.3-0_0.3.2-4 (among others)
from the SID repositories. But the problem continues, is the same.

But I can see that, if I kill all of the 'thunar --daemon' instancies, and
later execs 'export LANG=es_ES thunar --daemon' in a xterm, when I start
a new thunar from the desktop icons, thunar have the correct dates in
spanish (the week name for the files changed in the week, and the full date
(28/05/07 for examp.) for the aged ones). The same occurs when I start it
with 'export LANG=C thunar --daemon' (in english now).

So the problem may be related to the basque localization, I thinks.

Thats all. The problem is not serious in general, but is s molest for me.

Thanks in advance. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#405945: mplayer-doc: don't have doc-base documentation indexes

2007-01-07 Thread Martintxo
Package: mplayer-doc
Version: 1.0~rc1-11
Severity: wishlist

Hello:

I build the mplayer / mplayer-doc debian packages from the sources in the etch
repository for a Sarge installation. All OK.

mplayer-doc have a nice documentation in HTML and in some languages. Our
computer is for public-use, so we use dwww for the Debian documentation
support. In this way we think that the use of doc-base is essential for
mantain and look at the doc.

So I make some mplayer-doc.doc-base.lang files for you to install it in the
mplayer-doc package. I copied its structure from the sylpheed-doc package. All
are in the attached mplayer-doc.doc-base.tar.gz file. Its installation is
easy, only put them in the /debian dir and recompile the package :-D.

That's all. My english is horrible, so the text in the doc-base files may be
horrible too :-D (and in this bug-report). Thanks for the inclusion of mplayer
in Debian/main. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#383541: checkinstall: makes the doc directory as /usr/share/doc/pkgname-x.y.z

2006-08-17 Thread Martintxo
Package: checkinstall
Version: 1.6.0-1
Severity: minor
Tags: patch

Hello:

I download and build the checkinstall-1.6.0-1 source package for play with it
in a Sarge environment. In Sarge I used to build my packages with
checkinstall-1.5.3-3, and for make a good package and have a
/usr/share/doc/pkgname doc directory, I used to change the name of the build
directory from /pkgname-x.y.z to /pkgname. With this change, the doc directory
(with the proper config in /etc/checkinstallrc, and the proper version number
in the package values of checkinstall) was always /usr/share/doc/pkgname
:-D.

With the new version, checkinstall always make the doc dir as
/usr/share/doc/pkgname-x.y.z, with the reported change and without it (see
this two examples):

Bug#379203: endeavour2: Please, add doc-base support for the html doc

2006-07-22 Thread Martintxo
Package: endeavour2
Version: 2.6.1-1
Severity: wishlist
Tags: patch

Hello:

We use endeavour2 in a public-use computer, and have dwww as the Debian
help system. The version of Debian in this computer is Sarge (and all of
the libraries and general packages are from Sarge).

For this reason we add to the endeavour2_2.6.1 source package (downloaded
from Sid) the doc-base support.

The steps for made it are (I'm not a programmer, but it works :-D):

1. Write the endeavour2.doc-base file (attached), and put it in the debian/
subdirectory.

2. Edit the debian/endeavour2.dirs file for add the 'usr/share/doc-base'
dir.

3. Edit the debian/rules file for add the line 'cp
debian/endeavour2.doc-base debian/endeavour2/usr/share/doc-base/endeavour2'
after 'cp debian/mimetypes.ini...'.

4. Compile it :-DD

I suggest you to add this feature to the package. Thanks for all the great
work in Debian. Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#375534: Normal unix file system permission (no security breach)

2006-06-28 Thread Martintxo
Hello:

Oh la-la, one feature }:-P

First of all, excuse my ignorance of unix/linux system and permissions. I'm
a simple user... Many thanks for the complete explanation, and for the
patience...

Anyway, I think that the current behavior with the ogg files is not the
correct one (in my humble opinion).

Lest say that we have a dir with mp3 and ogg files, and all are read only
for the normal user (but owned by he, a normal scenario). If he want to
change the file tags with one app (easytag, tagtool...), when he want to
change one mp3 file, the app says Permission denied (easytag), and no tag
is changed (OK behavior). (Tagtool directly no permits to change the tags
in a read-only mp3, but yes in a read-only ogg).

But if we want change a ogg file, the app says nothing, and the tags are
changed (the file is altered, and it was a read-only file!).

So I also think that vorbiscoment must say something (Permission denied
is OK) in this case, and no change the tags. And the other apps
(easytag...) catch the response and show it.

But well, this all is only a filosofical thought, not theme for a Debian
bug. Excuse for the gibberish. Thanks for the great job in Debian.
Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#375534: vorbis-tools: Vorbiscoment changes the owner and permissions of the ogg file.

2006-06-26 Thread Martintxo
Package: vorbis-tools
Version: 1.0.1-1.3
Severity: grave
Justification: user security hole
Tags: security

Hello:

I encountered this problem taggin some ogg and mp3 files with easytag, and
later tagtool, both from Sarge (my sistem is a Sarge environment, with a
few packages upgraded, and NO security upgrades :-/). So I test if it
appears too in the vorbiscoment command line tool, and I see that it is
affected too. So I don't know where to send this bugreport (I choose
vorbis-tools, but maybe there are another packages involved).

The problem NOT appears when taggin mp3 files, only ogg.

The problem may be resolved at this moment by the security system, but I
searched the BTS web interface and no encountered any reference to it. If
it is so, forget this report (and, if you can and it is easy, email me a
patch :-D).

The problem is that if you try to edit the vorbis tags of a ogg file that
you don't own (and that is read-only too), you can made it. See the
following log:

In the last try, with a file that is owned to root, and read-only by all
users, a normal user (martintxo) can edit the tags, and the file pass to be
owned by he.

I think that it may be a security hole, but I'm not a programmer.

Thanks for all the work in Debian. Excuse my bad english. Regards.

Bug#370287: ripperx: Some minor bugs (in man page and in players config tab)

2006-06-04 Thread Martintxo
Package: ripperx
Version: 2.7.0-1
Severity: minor

I download ripperx 2.7.0-1 source package from Sid, and compiled it in a
Sarge environment without problem :-D. I think that it is a great ripper
for old computers with little memory.

* Players config tab:

  1. The cdplay commands that are in the default config of ripperx are
wrong (with cdtool 2.1.5-13 from Sarge). The good ones are 'cdplay %' for
the 'CD play command', and 'cdstop' for the 'CD stop command'. But in the
default config they are: 'cdplay play %' and 'cdplay stop'.

  2. The 'Mp3 play command' should be 'mpg321 %', that is the package in
the Suggests tag of the ripperx package. In the default config the command
is 'mpg123 %', a nonfree? package.

* Man page:

  1. In the 'ogg quality' part, there are two 'mode 6': 256 == mode 6, and
320 == mode 6. I suppose that the first is 'mode 5' and the last 'mode 6'.

  2. The ogg quality modes of this part is no clear (for me, that I'm not a
expert):

I made a wav file from a CD and them encode it with oggenc at some
qualityes (q0, q1, q2, q3, q4, q5 and q6). If you gets the ogg file
information with ogginfo, it says the nominal bitrate of the file, and the
relation of my probes is:

quality = nominal bitrate from ogginfo
  q0 =64 kb/s
  q1 =80 kb/s
  q2 =96 kb/s
  q3 =   112 kb/s
  q4 =   128 kb/s
  q5 =   160 kb/s
  q6 =   192 kb/s

Later, I ripp and encode the same song with ripperx at the same bitrates
chosen in the ripperx config Mp3 tab, and the nominal bitrate gets from
ogginfo are:

 bitrate from nominal bitrate quality
ripperx config from ogginfo from above list
  64 kb =64 kb/s=q0
  80 kb =80 kb/s=q1
  96 kb =96 kb/s=q2
 112 kb = 112 kb/s=q3
 128 kb = 128 kb/s=q4
 160 kb = 160 kb/s=q5
 192 kb = 192 kb/s=q6

This, in my opinion, not corresponds whit the manual page, that says:

Because Vorbis/Ogg uses variable bit rates, there is not a direct
correlation between the bitrate selected for encoding and the rate used by
oggenc. Instead, the bitrates in ripperX are mapped to the quality modes
 (1-6) supported by oggenc. Bitrates 56, 64, 96 == mode 1, 112 and 128 ==
 mode 2, 160 == mode 3 (the default), 192 == mode 4, 256 == mode 6, and 320
 == mode 6.

I'm not have so much experience with ogg files and sound, but I suppose
that this part of the manual should be:

 Bitrate 80 == mode 1, 96 == mode 2, 112 == mode 3 (the default), 128 ==
 mode 4, 160 == mode 5, and 192 == mode 6.

If all of this is a stupid thing (I have little idea of ogg quality modes)
ignore it :-D.

Thank you for maintain this good piece of soft. Excuse my poor english (i'm
a spanish speaker). Greetings. Martintxo.

Bug#365552: dwww: with boa don't make a good 'Other documents' link

2006-04-30 Thread Martintxo
Package: dwww
Version: 1.9.92
Severity: normal
Tags: experimental

Hello:

I think that Debian needs a good Help Browser, and Dwww is a good app for
it. Many thanks!!

I tested dwww 1.9.92 from experimental. I install it in a Sarge
environment. For made it, I touch the debian/control file, for change in
the Depends line: menu (= 2.1.27) for menu (= 2.1.24) (that is the
version of menu package in Sarge). I says it because it may alter the
results in my environment.

dwww-1.9.92 works so well in Sarge with apache-1.3.33. I test a little bit
it and no find bugs. But with boa-0.94.14rc20-1.2 like web server dwww has
a little bug in the 'Other documents' link.

If you made a search (search emelfm package, for exemp.) and made click in
the 'Other documents' link, with Mozilla it says that don't find :0
(badly translated from my spanish localization), and with Dillo ERROR: dns
can't solve.

The link URL is
http://localhost/cgi-bin/dwww/usr/share/doc/emelfm?type=dir, and it works
well with the Apache web server. But for it to works with Boa, the URL must
be http://localhost/cgi-bin/dwww/usr/share/doc/emelfm/?type=dir (note the
last /).

However, the /usr/share/doc folders link in the Dwww home page works
well. It is: http://localhost/cgi-bin/dwww/usr/share/doc/?type=dir (with a
final /).

My computer is a old one, and for this reason I use Dwww, Dillo and Boa. So
I think that it's important that Dwww works well with a ligthweigth web
server. Thanks in advance for the solution. Excuse my poor english.
Greetings. Martintxo.
