Bug#954311: Not just rendering issues...
Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. Apparently I missed the transition from intel_drv to modesetting_drv. After switching to modesetting (instead of intel) and purging xserver-xorg-video-intel, the workaround in /etc/drirc is no longer needed. Bug#954311: Not just rendering issues...
Thanks A LOT for the /etc/drirc trick, it fixed the problem detailed below for me. Took me over an hour to figure out what was wrong and to end up on this bug report. I have a Thinkpad T480 (Intel UHD 620). The new iris driver causes all my video players to crash (e.g., VLC or mpv) and prevents Zoom from converting my recorded sessions. Bug#935653: 100% CPU usage for a long time
Dear Balint, I confirm that, like Thibaut Girka, I actually get tons of "sanity check failed" which actually trigger those numerous "falling back to adjusting 's dependencies recursively". Best regards, -Pascal -- Homepage (http://pascal.giard.info) École de technologie supérieure (http://etsmtl.ca)
Bug#935653: 100% CPU usage for a long time
Hi Balint, Thank you for looking into this. Running "time strace -f -c unattended-upgrade --debug --verbose" it became obvious that unattended-upgrade was going through ALL the experimental packages in order to, in the end, ignore them (priority), causing a significant delay. Disabling experimental from my sources: I don't have the time to let it go all the way through yet, but the number of stat calls and errors is still significant. And a lot of time appears to be spent "recursively adjusting dependencies", e.g., falling back to adjusting asymptote's dependencies recursively falling back to adjusting asymptote-doc's dependencies recursively falling back to adjusting binutils's dependencies recursively falling back to adjusting binutils-common's dependencies recursively falling back to adjusting binutils-x86-64-linux-gnu's dependencies recursively falling back to adjusting cpp-9's dependencies recursively etc. Note this may very well be expected behavior. That I can't tell. Bug#935653: 100% CPU usage for a long time
Dear maintainer, Recently unattended-upgrades started to consume a LOT more CPU time than before. Similarly to the original report, I looked at what strace gets in terms of statistics, here it is: strace: Process 5193 detached % time seconds usecs/call callserrors syscall -- --- --- - - 100,004,762247 2 2288315 1703451 stat 0,000,51 0 100 read 0,000,15 020 openat 0,000,08 020 close 0,000,05 020 fstat 0,000,05 020 fcntl -- --- --- - - 100.004,762331 2288495 1703451 total Looks odd, no? It is so bothering that for now I've disabled unattended-upgrades on all 3 laptops. Manual update + upgrade requires a fraction of the resources currently required by unattended-upgrades. I hope this issue gets sorted out. Please let me know if there's something else I can do to provide useful information. Dear maintainer, In case that may shed some light... Before having gimp-python installed, gimp would start. I could modify images and save them in the native gimp format. Attempting to export to png or jpg would freeze though. (With the exportation processes visible with `ps` but not doing anything, it appears). After installing gimp-python, attempting to start gimp, I get stuck on the splash screen with status message "Interrogation des nouveaux greffons" (python-eval.py). Sorry, attempting to start with LC_ALL=C doesn't work; this loosely translates to "Querying new plugins". Nevertheless, please check if this has been fixed in a newer upstream release. No, there are no pending changes upstream. That being said, unfortunately, I haven't played Atris for a long time. The delay it took me to answer your report might be a good indication that I should put Atris up for adoption. Bug#627687: [SoX-devel] Bug#627687: sox: Unable to load LAME encoder library (libmp3lame)
Hello Chris, On Wed, May 25, 2011 at 1:49 PM, Chris Bagwell ch...@cnpbagwell.com wrote: [...] I guess we only stressed this on windows were we've hit the problem but solved it differently. It looks for both libmp3lame.dll/.so and libmp3lame-0.dll/.so; -0 be windows version of .so version #'s. I couldn't really find any common solutions to this so I guess the main solution would be to add libmp3lame.so.0 to the list of filenames to search for. I think lt_dlopenext() can handle this full name. at least here, lt_dlopenext() goes straight to attempting libmp3lame.so.0.{la,so} when libmp3lame.so.0 is specified. I can't seem to find a way to modify the extensions it will attempt, it does not seem to be accessible from the outside of ltdl. lt_dlforeachfile seems to be total overkill for this and only returns the filename without the extension anyway... (in my case it calls my function with /usr/lib/libmp3lame while only /usr/lib/libmp3lame{.so.0,.so.0.0.0} exist). But ltdl does not seem to be designed for our purpose as there is no other mechanism... I could only fix this by using lt_dlopen() with a full filename (appended extension myself with sprintf). I'm to shy to share my ugly patch tho as it involves a fixed size char array that can only be abused. (The magic should happen in the lsx_open_dllibrary function of src/util.c). -Pascal -- Homepage (http://organact.mine.nu) Debian GNU/Linux (http://www.debian.org) COMunité/LACIME: École de technologie supérieure (http://www.comunite.ca) Integrated Microsystems Laboratory: McGill (http://www.iml.ece.mcgill.ca) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. While it's only a symlink to so.0, the .so is installed by libmp3lame-dev this if you install the latter, it should work. That being said, having the dev package should not be required. SoX dev guys: Under Debian and Fedora at least, the .so symlink is created by the -dev or Devel packages respectively. So I wonder how other applications using libltdl handle a situation like this. Do they depend on the -dev/Devel package (which I'd like to avoid at all cost) or do they workaround the issue by e.g. calling lt_dladvise_ext to get the OS-specific extension and then look for libname.advised_ext* before issuing an lt_dlopen on the found files...? Choose 'Tools-XML Filter Settings' to install the filter, or use the setup to install the component. Looking into Tools/Tools-XML Filter reveals that, indeed, there is no MediaWiki export filter to be found. That's new to me, then again I don't have a mediawiki I can publish to anyways. OK, I can imagine two (or maybe both are the cause together) causes of this. I guess that there's just a dependency missing. 1. libreoffice-java-common (anyone needing Java stuff in OOo needs this anyway) 2. libreoffce-filter-mobiledev (Mobile Devices Filters, shouldn't influence Wiki PUblisher, more or it's optional anyway) I bet you don't have libreoffice-java-common installed. (Which would make this bug not grave but serious anymore for the missing dependency) Hello Rene, thanks for the quick reply! Unfortunately, both are installed... FWIW, libreoffice-filter-binfilter is also installed. Also note that for raising that error, you don't need to connect to any mediawiki server. Simply selecting Send/To MediaWiki... will raise the error. And while the filter is indeed not shown in Tools/XML Filter Settings, the extension is correctly shown in the Extension Manager. So it seems it's partially integrated... On a final note, this does sound as grave to me as I have the dependencies you mentioned and I'm unable to use this package... In any case, my objective is to get this to work, not to get into an argument ;-) Any other idea is welcome... Now I wonder where something fails on my desktop at work. It must be something minor. I think it is this change: DefaultDepth 24 + SubSection Display + Viewport 0 0 + Depth 24 + EndSubSection DefaultDepth already has to be defined in every fglrx release, without it, X wont start. Could someone verify it with his old configuration and just adding the subsection, that it is working then? Another possible change would be: + Screen 0 aticonfig-Screen[0]-0 0 0 Or yes the dpms thing, if AMD changed the DPMS handling: + Option DPMS true Simply adding the DPMS option to the monitor section fixes my old config file. That sounds odd, shouldn't power management options default to working values?! Here's another test i've written (for FoFiX) that allows you to go thru three modes: array-based drawing, VBO drawing and direct-mode drawing. Bug#525986: [Bug 315950] Re: [needs-packaging] FoFiX (Frets on Fire X)
Unfortunately, there are still a couple of show-stoppers for this to happen, at least in Debian unstable. The most notable problem right now is the bad python-pyvorbis 1.4 package that throws a double-free error. Please see: http://bugs.debian.org/521559 Another issue is that python-pygame is still at version 1.7.1 (or 1.8.x in Ubuntu) while = 1.9.x is required, at least for 64bit CPUs. Until those two issues are tackled, i don't see a FoFiX package for Debian/Ubuntu coming. However, if they're resolved, i'll gladly package it myself or make sure it gets packaged. Finally, as a comment to the Debian RFP, please note that i'm not the only upstream author, not at all! Actually, there are quite a few active developpers these days. I hope i won't hurt anyone's feelings but i think the most active developers currently are (no particular order): Chris Paiano Pascal Giard (me) Blazingamer Qstick akedrou John Stumpo volshebnyi Cheers, -Pascal PS: As a side note, we'd like to modify FoFiX so it can use multiple songs folders. I no longer have the energy nor motivation to properly maintain it. Those who have followed mail-notification thru the years might be already aware that the upstream author can be uncooperative to various degrees. e.g. SSL support is not included as the upstream disagrees with the FSF interpretation of the OpenSSL (OpenSSL+GPL issue)(see [1]). Upstream also refuses to use the GNUTLS patches proposed to workaround this issue and seems to be willing to resort to trademark to prevent it from being merged w/o a name change(see [2]). All in all, this is a great application that would benefit from a new motivated maintainer. I sincerely hope someone will step up and will do whatever necessary to bring SSL support back in (even if it implies renaming the package and merging the GNUTLS patch in). Attempting to run a library linked against libsndobj results in the following error: /usr/lib/libsndobj.so.2: undefined symbol: jack_on_shutdown This can be fixed by: 1) modifying the 01_shlib.patch to make it use $(LFLAGS) (i've included the modified patch in the attachment). 2) adding -ljack -lasound to LFLAGS in debian/rules. Bug#518954: [D-m-team] Bug#518954: Bug#518954: Attempting to update my GPG key with new expiration date
Hmmm... Perhaps my problem is elsewhere then. Invoking the following command: gpg --list-key B16CCA95 --no-default-keyring --keyring /usr/share/keyrings/debian-maintainers.gpg I get that the expiration date is 2009-12-22, the new (correct) one. How is this even possible? I changed the expiration date 2 days ago. I've uploaded my new public key to hkp://keyring.debian.org . But still, the last change to debian-maintainers was on feb. 24th. So i don't understand how /usr/share/keyrings/debian-maintainers.gpg could contain my new expiration date. I also figure there's still something wrong as i didn't get any email (either accept or reject) for the latest dput i did. If you have any hints as to what i'm doing wrong, it'd be greatly appreciated. Well, whatever the problem was, this should workaround the problem. I've added one of my emails and removed a depricated one. I've also removed the expiration date as i'm not willing to go thru this again. That said, did i just loose all my signatures because of the expiration date that was met in last december? Do i need to get my GPG key to be signed by another DD again? Cheers, -Pascal PS: A modify file is created for another key (modify-64451521809DE012). I haven't included it as i don't see any connection with Marcelo Jorge Vieira[!?] -- Homepage (http://organact.mine.nu) Debian GNU/Linux (http://www.debian.org) LACIME: École de technologie supérieure (http://lacime.etsmtl.ca) add-D4B7DDF7B16CCA95 Description: Binary data
