Bug#1003404: Acknowledgement (debian-i18n: Dead keys functionality associated to some keyboards is not working)
Good morning Please tell me if this layout comply with your requirements. I want to add further information about the problem I reported. The image below shows the computer that I reported as: PC 2. Debian 11 32-bit. Spanish keyboard. Setup as Spanish (dead tilde) This computer (a laptop) has an external Spanish keyboard. The laptop's keyboard is a US English keyboard. This explains why there are two keyboards layout set up. See image [neeihkenbeldlaji.png <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=2;bug=1003404;filename=neeihkenbeldlaji.png;msg=10> (image/png, inline)] If I click on Behavior tab and want to type *música* I obtain: [hedcfgmdenbmedcf.png <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=3;bug=1003404;filename=hedcfgmdenbmedcf.png;msg=10> (image/png, inline)] On the other hand Panel 1 does not know that there is a Spanish (dead tilde) keyboard setup in the OS, as you can see in the image below. [pjabaaalepficmop.png <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=4;bug=1003404;filename=pjabaaalepficmop.png;msg=10> (image/png, inline)] Accidentally I found why the OS shows English - English (US) on panel 1. It is because IBus Preferences (Applications > Settings > IBus Preferences) contains what is shown below: [dglomjbgdlkohiig.png <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=5;bug=1003404;filename=dglomjbgdlkohiig.png;msg=10> (image/png, inline)] A temporary solution is to add the appropriate layouts in IBus and remove the original one, as shown below: [gicijhnmddfjcbig.png <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=6;bug=1003404;filename=gicijhnmddfjcbig.png;msg=10> (image/png, inline)] Now panel 1 shows the correct keyboard layouts, being Spanish (dead tilde) the main layout: [ljamjphlkkljeakd.png <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=7;bug=1003404;filename=ljamjphlkkljeakd.png;msg=10> (image/png, inline)] Now I can use any application and type using the dead keys funtionality as shown below: [ihbajlogefeipfkd.png <https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?att=8;bug=1003404;filename=ihbajlogefeipfkd.png;msg=10> (image/png, inline)] I said this is a temporary solution because I had trouble installing Debian 11 32-bit (the problem is not present in Debian 11 64-bit), because the installer has this flaw and I realized something was wrong with the installer regarding the keyboard layout but I could not tell at the moment what was going on. Of course I realized that the best at installation time was to let the keyboard with the default layout: English US. On top of that I accidentally found the solution. I think that a user installing Debian for the first time would not think that the problem can be fixed tweaking IBus. Anyway, you can count on me if you need anymore information about this. Cheers Ramiro

Package: debian-i18n Severity: important Tags: l10n X-Debbugs-Cc: ramiroar...@usa.com Dear Maintainer, *** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate *** * What led up to the situation? I have four computers, as follows: PC 1. Debian 11 32-bit. US keyboard. Setup as English (US, intl., with dead keys) PC 2. Debian 11 32-bit. Spanish keyboard. Setup as Spanish (dead tilde) PC 3. Debian 11 64-bit. Spanish keyboard. Setup as Spanish (dead tilde) PC 4. MX-21 Linux 32-bit (based on Debian). Spanish keyboard. Setup as Spanish (dead tilde) * What was the outcome of this action? Of the four computers described above only PC 3 with Debian 11 64-bit works as expected. * What outcome did you expect instead? What I expect is dead tilde works as it did from several years ago. *** End of the template - remove these template lines ***
Bug#982501: texlive-full: Not possible to compile a document using the Copernicus Publications LaTeX Template
Package: texlive-full Version: 2020.20210202-2 Severity: normal Tags: upstream Dear Maintainer, Here I am reporting an issue I found to compile a LaTeX document with pdflatex or latexmk when I use the Copernicus Publications Template. Here I describe the issue (this is my first bug-report, please don't hesitate to ask further information!) (1) I have installed Texlive-full and download the Copernicus Publications LaTeX Template. (2) I have compiled successfully the same document with NixOS and Manjaro. Therefore th the latex document is ok and it seems a problem of the package of Texlive (3) With Debian-Testing (Bullseye) it is not possible to compile. At the beginning it reports some warnings and then is the compilation is frozen (with 100% CPU use) for hours without ending. Bug#905854:
Hi! The version openssl-1.0.0.cnf should work correctly for "OpenSSL 1.1.0f 25 May 2017": you can try making a symlink like openssl.cnf pointing to the file and things like ./pkitoo --initca should work OK. Anyway, I think adjusting regular expression to match both, should be fine in order to not split several files into the directory, when the same config works. Borders of windows remain on screen, blinking, after moving, and typing on terminals is a mess, full of glitches that make it impossible to see the characters. Menus show highliting and blinking of several items when hovering over them. Chromium works fine though. Bug#847922: cdo in debian testing: Headers are 1.10.0 but library is 1.8.16
Subject: cdo in debian testing: Headers are 1.10.0 but library is 1.8.16 Package: cdo Version: 1.7.2+dfsg.1-1+b1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, I found the following problem in Debian Testing (I check that I have the last version with apt-get) The cdo in Debian Testing (in particular I tested cdo remapbil) produces: --- The HDF5 header files used to compile this application do not match the version used by the HDF5 library to which this application is linked. Data corruption or segmentation faults may occur if the application continues. This can happen when an application was compiled by one version of HDF5 but linked with a different version of static or shared HDF5 library. You should recompile the application or check your shared library related settings such as 'LD_LIBRARY_PATH'. 'HDF5_DISABLE_VERSION_CHECK' environment variable is set to 1, application will continue at your own risk. Headers are 1.10.0, library is 1.8.16 --- After, > export HDF5_DISABLE_VERSION_CHECK=1 the cdo library produces a "segmentation fault" and apparently it is not possible to use it. After checking the web-page: https://support.hdfgroup.org/HDF5/doc/ADGuide/Compatibility_Report/CR_1.10.0.html it seems to be that HDF5 libraries 1.10.0 and 1.8.16 are not full compatible. Bug#739517: graphite-web: Depends artificially on unneeded and deprecated SQLite 2 Python driver (python-sqlite package)
Package: graphite-web Version: 0.9.12+debian-2 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, graphite-web is a Django web app. It uses SQLite for the standard DB layer only (AFAICS it has doesn't have any other DB access functionality outside of Django ORM.) The Debian package of graphite-web depends on python-sqlite which links and provides access to the old SQLite C lib version 2.x. But Django doesn't support (and never has) SQLite 2.x but rather version 3.x. jessie ships with a default Python version that already includes a working SQLite3 stack in the standard library so the erroneous dependency should be simply removed. Bug#735106: gnome-session: Gnome screen goes blank or freezes
Package: gnome-session Version: 3.8.4-3 Severity: important Hi, my Gnome screen freezes or goes blank from time to time. When this happens, it is impossible to switch to a terminal to restart gnome, so all I can do is reboot my machine. It happens randomly using almost any application, but it is far more common to see that happen while using Nautilus, Iceweasel or Chromium (all installed from the default testing apt-sources). I have a GeForce 6800 XT card install and I'm using the NVIDIA driver version 304.116 with XOrg 1.14.5 (again, all installed from the default testing apt-sources). Unconditionally printing random stuff to stdout from a library being dinamically doesn't seem right. The scenario where I'm seeing is when runnning tests in a stack using sqplite/SpatiaLite (Django Python Web framework pus its GeoDjango sub-framework own test suite) Regards, -- System Informa
Bug#653376: tvtime: Plese switch to new upstream
Package: tvtime Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, Hitorical upstream for tvtime hasn't seen any acivity for years. Keernellabs.com staff had adopted it [1]back in 2009 to update it to current video (v4l2) and audio (ALSA) APIs but that effort also got somwehat stale. Efforts are directed now to contribute with a new [2]attempt to update the code base, this time hosted in the linuxtv.org git repos in a way similar to what's been done with xawtv3. Bug#509999: Taking advantage of upstream-maintained tarball with cherry-picked fixes?
Package: freetds Version: 0.82-4 Severity: wishlist Upstream maintains a further stabilized and fixed post-0.82 [1]tarball, it's located in the same [2]directory than the official stable 0.82 [3]tarball. Also available is a [4]patch with all the fixes backported from trunk (including a ChangeLog excerpt listing them). A perusal of the file shows entries describing some buffer overflow fixes and work done as a result of a Coverity analysis. Both links were obtained from the [5]page linked as "Nightly test results" from the FreeTDS home page. As of this writing, the distribution has been updated on November 11, 2008. in fact, once unpacked, the freetds-patched.tgz tarball creates a freetds-0.82.1.dev.2008/ directory. One of the upstream authors has, for example, worked on Debian's #500451, fixed it on trunk, stated in a comment there that "You should see an updated patch for 0.82 on freetds.sourceforge.net" and done so. Would it be a good idea to base the Debian packages in a snapshot of such a tarball?. Bug#401332: should depend on php-mail and not just recommend it
Package: horde3 Version: 3.1.3-2 It seems php-mail should be moved from Recommends to Depends, I've backported Horde3+IMP4 to sarge and when trying to see some IMAP Mailboxes in IMP I'm getting no message list in the main display panel. Instead, a couple of Warning: MIME::require_once(Mail/RFC822.php) [function.MIME-require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /usr/share/horde3/lib/Horde/MIME.php on line 653 warnings are displayed. Backporting (rebuilding bah) and installing the php-mail package (that provides the /usr/share/php/Mail/RFC822.php file) solves the problem. This is confirmed by the [1]Horde installation documentation that states: " ... 3. Additional PEAR Modules ... These PEAR modules are *REQUIRED* to be installed for complete Horde functionality: a. Log b. Mail c. Mail_Mime ... " So I'm pretty sure this problem could affect etch users too. 1. http://www.horde.org/horde/docs/?f=INSTALL.html#prerequisites -- Der GMX SmartSurfer hilft bis zu 70% Ihrer Onlinekosten zu sparen! >> DVD-R DATA = OK, FAILED >So in this case for example, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't ? Sorry, perhaps I did not explain it right. I meant that a DVD-R from Verbatim brand went OK and a DVD-R from TDK brand FAILED. The experiment is very consistent, the TDK DVD always failed and the Verbatim always went OK. But readcd (gnomebaker) read both fine. Ramiro. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hello Francois, Perhaps it is a hardware related problem. I have tested several DVD media types and brands that I have here, having some random result: DVD-ROM VIDEO = OK DVD-ROM DATA = OK DVD-RW DATA = FAILED, FAILED, FAILED DVD+RW DATA=OK, OK DVD-R DATA = OK, FAILED Gnomebaker reads all media types correctly. Bug#398226: Some files are missign/misplaced
Package: roundup Version: 1.2.1-4 Severity: normal It seems the migration to cdbs has caused some breakage: 1. /etc/roundup/cgiconf.py configuration file is missing 2. /etc/roundup/service hierarchy is broken, it should be: /etc/roundup/service/ log/ main/ (link) supervise/ (link) run supervise/ (link) run README and it is: /etc/roundup/service/ supervise/ (link) log/ log (link) main (link) roundup/ log/ run README run i.e. there is an extra roundup subdirectory one level too deep. 3. /usr/bin/roundup-ctl used to be shipped, it isn't now, I don't know if this is intentional. Bug#318035: apt-cacher isn't compatible with perl < 5.8 anymore
Eduard, Just to report I have been using your modifed apt-cacher.pl script without problems during three weeks now (the apt-cacher clients are six servers [five running Woody and one Sarge] and one Sarge workstation, all downloading security updates and a few new packages). Regards, PS: Sorry for breaking the thread but it seems I deleted your reply by mistake. -- Ramiro Morales -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#318035: apt-cacher isn't compatible with perl < 5.8 anymore
Package: apt-cacher Version: 0.9.9 The package dependency list has a Depends: perl (>= 5.6.0-16) line but the open() form used to execute curl in apt-cacher.pl is present on versions of Perl since version 5.8. See "Using open() for IPC" - "Safe Pipe Opens" section of perlipc(1) As I understand it (with my very basic Perl knowlegde) the combination of a 3-parameter open() call and a second parameter value of "-|" isn't valid on perl < 5.8. I found this trying to backport (not really, it´s only a matter of apt-get source ...; dpkg-buildpackage ...) the current Sid apt-cacher (0.9.9) and Sarge (0.9.4) packages to Woody (perl 5.6.1). A basic test program I made trying to isolate the problem gives: Can't use an undefined value as filehandle reference at ./test.pl line 80. pointng to the open($getpipe, "-|", @elist); line (test.pl:80 is equivalent to apt-cacher.pl:768). The end user symptom is that on Woody the child apt-cacher doesn´t get any data from curl when a client system connects to the apt-cacher central cache, with debug set to 1 on /etc/apt-cacher/apt-cacher.conf, /var/log/apt-cacher/error.log shows: Tue Jul 12 14:30:19 2005|172.17.2.2|debug: fetcher: try to pick up http://security.debian.org/dists/sarge/updates/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz Tue Jul 12 14:30:19 2005|172.17.2.2|debug: Executing /usr/bin/curl -D- --stderr /dev/null http://security.debian.org/dists/sarge/updates/main/binary-i386/Packages.gz Tue Jul 12 14:30:21 2005|172.17.2.2|debug: no header yet... The solution is trivial if you update the above Depends line just for correctness (because the problem never will occur on Sarge or later releases of Debian). Alternatively you may wish to consider the patch below (I managed to assemble it by copying sample code from the relevant perlipc(1) manpage section) to make it compatible with older perls ... and making us users of Woody systems happy :-).
