Hi Jeremy, thanks for your report.

This is quite an old package, upstream is dead for more than 5 years at
least. I don't think there is any plan to port this package to use GTK3.

Besides this, this package is not longer so usable as it was before, now
mysql-workbench fulfill all the needs for the users, thought.

So I'll request this package to be removed.

Hi,

I just want to confirm this bug on the package, I'm planning to do an
upload in the upcoming weeks, this is a very simple fix, NMUs are
welcome, but I'll also like to polish the packaging a bit on the next
upload.

Cheers

Description-en: Console-based AOL Instant Messenger IRC client
pork is an ncurses-based AOL Instant Messenger and IRC client. It uses the
OSCAR protocol (the one the windows client uses) to access AIM. Pork
features Perl scripting; an online help system; the ability to
configure nearly all aspects of the program's look-and-feel; an alias
system; and a powerful, fully-configurable key binding system. It
supports being logged in with more than one screen name at the same
time. The default look-and-feel of the client is modeled after the
ircII IRC client. Anyone comfortable using ircII (or any clients
derived from it -- e.g., epic, BitchX, etc.) will feel comfortable
 using pork.

 Hello,

Hi Arthur

Using the rebuild infrastructure, your package fails to build with clang
 (instead of gcc).

Thanks for your bug report and your patch, I'll try to prepare a new
version of this package during this month.

Cheers

2011-03-02 Thread René Mayorga

Version: 1.69-2
Severity: grave

Hi,

I was trying to use this plugin today, but I'm getting «You are not permitted to

following:

(09:10:10) facebook: executing callback for /ajax/chat/send.php?__a=1
(09:10:10) facebook: sent im response: for
(;;);{error:1357004,errorSummary:Authentication

(09:10:10) facebook: got error from facebook of Authentication Failure (You are
not permitted to do that.)
(09:10:10) facebook: sent im error: You are not permitted to do that.

looking on upstream website the issue is already reported there:
http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/issues/detail?id=937

so far looks something related to a change made on facebook side.

  usage: renice priority [ [ -p ] pids ] [ [ -g ] pgrps ] [ [ -u ] users ]

This is caused by minor argument error in the init script (renice -n
 $NICELEVEL -p $PID instead renice $NICELEVEL -p $PID).

This is caused because renice has added the -n option, from bsdutils changelog:

  * renice: add -n option for compatibility with POSIX

this option have being added since util-linux 2.15~rc1-1 on Mon, 23 Mar 2009,
so the only way you can find this bug is using stable (leeny has the 2.13.1.1-1
version) along with boinc from testing/unstable.

I think that applying the patch and asking a release exception for this will not
be a good idea right now, since squeeze already provides the new version from
bsdutils that adds -n.

 then it finds it:

 # /etc/init.d/boinc-client restart

Well, this is a known problem, the GPU and CUDA functions depends that your X
session
be enable at the time you start boinc, right now boinc is being started before
your X session.

Even that this is known problem we don't have a good way to deal with it yet,
since we can not set boinc to have a depends on an fully X installation.

Maybe we need to add an entry on README.Debian telling users about the common
issues with ATI and NVIDIA GPUs and the common workarounds too.

 [2] and [3] will depend on [1]

[2] will require X login manager
 [3] will work in CLI

Yes, this have being already discussed, and having a package that depends on X
stuffs and not including those depends by default(in currente boinc-client) is
the best approach.

However this will only work for nvidia users IIRC, for ATI users the package
will
need to do some other stuffs, for example they have problems if boinc is not
being
run under the same user as X, and running boinc as root is not a sane solution.

Just searching the web a bit I found some blog post from mako about this[1].
But I'm still not sure if the trademark will affect in this case the use of the

Please be sure that if you set a password the order of this option must be
put before any command, this can be found on the boinccmd(1)
«Notice that the order of the options is important. The --host and --passwd

So either boinc is broken or its documentation is. Boinc-manager doesn't
work either (gets disconnected immediately after starting).

I tried to reproduce this bug on 4 boxes, I was able to pass commands
using boinccmd without any password set on gui_rpc_auth.cfg

If I set a password I could connect properly if the --passwd option was
set before the command option:

Bug#557871: Nvidia GPU usage

This is not a good approach, since boinc-client does not required xorg to work.

 start()
 {
   log_begin_msg Starting $DESC: $NAME
   if is_running; then
 log_progress_msg already running
   else
 nvclock -F auto -f
 sleep 1

   --make-pidfile --user $BOINC_USER --chuid $BOINC_USER \
   --chdir $BOINC_DIR --exec $BOINC_CLIENT -- $BOINC_OPTS

Same here, added nvclock as a dependency is not a good idea.

The only idea that just comes to my mind is to use debconf to adjust the init
script and etc/default/boinc-client doing the required actions if the user
decide it, all this changes does not need to go on the default installation
since we do not provide CUDA support for obvious reasons(non-DFSG).

I'm still not tested CUDA support, but I can try to figure out a solution for
this because a lot of users are asking about this.

If you are on the move you can also provide a patch to README.Debian explaining
all this and I can add it on the next upload, this could be a short-term
solution.

I did not catch this when I was updating to 6.10.17, my bad.

The short term solution will be to include config.h on boinc-dev,

Bug#537458: boinc-client: Broken dependencies. /init.d script requires schedtool and ionice.

I found it to be recommended now. This seems fine. If there is not
another email coming in parallel from Fernando or Rene or .. (Thomas?)
... with insights on ionice, could you please elaborate a bit more about
 what you mean here?

I actually remember that I made the upload when schedtool was promoted
to recommends.

But AFAICS Tomasz is reporting this on stable version,
IIRC there schedtool is still on Suggest on that version.

This is because we depends on ca-certificates and don't install the

I did not dig yet to see what if missing here, but in this case this bug might

reassigned to ca-certificates when everything is more clear from my side.

Hi Martin, thanks for your bug report.

Your package fails to build with GCC 4.4. You can reproduce this problem
 with gcc-4.4/g++-4.4 from unstable.

I can reproduce this with 6.2.18 and with 6.4.5 from experimental.
but upstream has already a report on this and also have commited a fix
to their VCS, so this will be integrated on to 6.4.5 and the package
will be uploaded to unstable.

Bug#520091: boinc-client: Init script incorrectly detects --daemon option

Hi Paul!,

The init script for boinc-client finds the --daemon option in
/etc/default/boinc-client, even when it is not there. This appears to be
due, in part, to checking the uninitialise variable $FOO for this
option. In addition, the test of the result from grep seems unreliable.

err, thanks for spoting this, it was a silly, really sillly error that I
introduce, I was making my local tests using this variable and the issue
was sitting for a lot of days on experimental and later on unstable.

Indeed, is a kind of an ugly default behaviour.
and if you check the Checkin_notes from 2005, you see that rather than be a bug

However, I was looking over upstream bug reports, and this feature was already

If I can be of any further assistance then please don't hesistate to let me

There is already a fix on upstream[0], that looks more clean then just
removing the entire check, also this change is already on experimental,

I am wondering this, since there is an old bug on upstream[0]
