Bug#649817: sniffit: please enable hardening options

Hardening options is a proposed release goal for Wheezy [1].

Having important package compiled with the hardening options will add
various protections against issues such as stack smashing, predictable
locations of values in memory, etc.

I have rebuilt the package with hardening options enabled and there was
no error (during build, or at runtime).

The attached patch adds a minimal modification to the debian/rules file
to add support for hardening flags (other methods are available).
Note that PIE and bindnow are not enabled by default, and that you can
decide to enable this options for additional features (see the following
link for details).

You can control and enable/disable each hardening flag independently,
see
http://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-announce/2011/09/msg1.html
for details.

Bug#633917: libgtk-3-0: key typing causes infinite-loop in VNC environment

[ this bug is copied from https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=653706 ]

For example, gtk3-demo freezes when I type a key on GtkEntry.
I trace gtk3-demo using gdb, it maybe run infinite-loop in
gdk_x11_keymap_get_entries_for_keyval at gdk/x11/gdkkeys-x11.c.
It occurs in only VNC environment, not plain X.

gtk+ 2.24.4 : not occurs
gtk+ 3.0.10 : occurs

http://git.gnome.org/browse/gtk+/commit/?h=gtk-3-0&id=c5d26520d2d6c72fcd13941cc30e35c40294a2ba

This is fixed in upstream master and gtk-3-0 branch,
but gtk+ 3.0.11 still has this bug.
I am glad to apply attached patch in debian package.

Bug#597045: sylpheed: sometimes folder tree does not show mail number when new mails arrive

2010-09-15 Thread VDR dai (deb)
Package: sylpheed
Version: 3.1.0~beta3-1
Severity: normal
Tags: experimental

Sometimes folder tree does not show mail number when new mails arrive.

Ordinarily, if new mails are arrived into some folders by sylpheed's POP3,
folder tree shows number of new mails. Sylpheed 3.0.2-1 works so.

On sylpheed 3.1.0~beta3-1 (also beta2),
folder tree sometimes does not show its numbers.
Therefore, if new mails arrive, I have to check all folders.
And I click folder that has new mails actually, it shows its numbers.
I am troubled that it does not always occur.

I guess it is caused by 3.1.0~beta2's new feature mentioned below changelog,
but I do not know whether it is a bug or just supposed action.

http://sylpheed.sraoss.jp/en/news.html
> # New features
>
> * On POP3 receiving, new messages are displayed on the summary view
> immediately. Folder switching is not required anymore.

dai

2010-05-28 Thread VDR dai (deb)
Hi,

I found out where ghostscript crashed.
So, I modify random shot and it does not crash.
But I do not know what original and modified line means.

Here is debug built ghostscript's execution log.

Package: ghostscript

When quitting ghostscript, after some example CJK postscript files processed,
it segfault.

2010-01-25 Thread VDR dai (deb)

Hi,

I cannot install/upgrade python-wxgtk2.6 2.6.3.2.2-4+b1
with python-wxversion 2.8.10.1-2. For the reason that
python-wxversion does not have /usr/lib/python2.6 files,
I guess.

Hi,

Target filesystem doesn't have /sbin/init.

I try to pass rootdelay=30 bootarg, but it is useless.
Of cause, no rootdelay sometimes fails to boot.

Previous kernel linux-image-2.6.29-2-amd64 2.6.29-5 no problem.
Maybe 2.6.26 - 2.6.29 I used in the past were ok.

Any suggests or ideas?

Bug#533329: ruby1.8: tdiary's amazon.rb segfault in the cause of ruby's bug

2009-06-16 Thread VDR dai (deb)
Package: ruby1.8
Version: 1.8.7.173-1
Severity: normal

Hi,

tdiary's amazon.rb segfault in the cause of ruby's bug.

(tdiary/lang/ja.rb):36:[BUG] Segmentation fault ruby 1.8.7 (2009-06-08
patchlevel 173) [i486-linux]

It is reported to tdiary's BTS (in Japanese).

http://www.cozmixng.org/retro/projects/tdiary/tickets/142

It is investigated by hiraku, and his blog is in Japanese.

http://www.hinet.mydns.jp/tdiary/?date=20090506#p01
http://www.hinet.mydns.jp/tdiary/?date=20090508#p01

Here is simply reproduce one liner.

ruby -ve "C=0; o=''; o.instance_eval('def m; C; end'); o.clone.m"

And hiraku points that this bug is due to below patch.

debian/patches/905_class_dup_should_copy_constants.dpatch

It is introduced to ruby1.8 1.8.7.72-3 and dropped in ruby1.8 1.8.7.173-1
because of the upstream's inclusion.

This bug is fixed in ruby1.8 development branch.
But I do not know what revision fixes it... Sorry.

Regards,
dai

Definitely, I disable IPv6 and needless to modify privoxy.

It is true. But we use IPv4 now and for a while.

Iceweasel, wget, w3m and so on, has disabling IPv6 (IPv4 only) option.
So, it is better that privoxy also has it, I think.

But it is fix patch of #491043...

Simply workaround, using audtool.
Instead of using ~~Add CD'' menu, do below.

audtool playlist-addurl cdda://

But I hope for fix both #491043 and #491043...

Bug#471021: locales: EastAsianAmbiguous character width is always 1 in UTF-8

2008-03-15 Thread VDR dai (deb)
Package: locales
Version: 2.7-9
Severity: normal

First, this has been reported to upstream,
but there is no progress for a while.
Please allow me to report same one.

http://sourceware.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=4335

According to /usr/share/i18n/charmaps/UTF-8.gz,
Character width is 1 by default. W(Wide) and F(Full Width) are 2.

% Character width according to Unicode 3.2.
% - Default width is 1.
% - Double-width characters have width 2; generated from
%"grep '^[^;]*;[WF]' EastAsianWidth.txt"
% and "grep '^[^;]*;[^WF]' EastAsianWidth.txt"
% - Non-spacing characters have width 0; generated from PropList.txt or
% "grep '^[^;]*;[^;]*;[^;]*;[^;]*;NSM;' UnicodeData.txt"
% - Format control characters have width 0; generated from
% "grep '^[^;]*;[^;]*;Cf;' UnicodeData.txt"
% - Zero width characters have width 0; generated from
% "grep '^[^;]*;ZERO WIDTH ' UnicodeData.txt"

A(Ambiguous) is expected that it is context-sensitive,
but its width is always 1 irrelevant to context.

According to http://www.unicode.org/reports/tr11/#Recommendations

> When mapping Unicode to East Asian legacy character encodings

I think EastAsianAmbiguous character width should be 2 in CJK UTF-8
locale.

It's caused by "--enable-chrome-format=flat".
I rebuild iceweasel deb with "--enable-chrome-format=jar" (by default),
solves this problem.

Since firefox 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.1-3, chrome format is changed to flat.
I think this problem does not occur before (not checked).

Benjamin Smedberg, a Mozilla developer, says that
flat chrome format is for debugging and causes bug
(I think #399753 #401255 are same problem).

Please re-change chrome format to jar?

Bug#402888: dh-kpatches: [patch] "Kernel-version: all" is not allowed

2006-12-13 Thread VDR dai (deb)
Package: dh-kpatches

In dh-kpatches' document,

Kernel-version

As a special case, the value "all" is allowed, for patches that
don't depend on a specific version (eg. if they just add a set of
files).

but "Kernel-version: all" is not allowed.

For example

2006-11-09 Thread VDR dai (deb)
Package: audacious

Hi,

First, please add ~~touch mk/rules.mk'' before make distclean.
If mk/rules.mk does not exists, audacious build system ignores
general build process.

Second, please add --enable-chardet to configure option.
Character set detecion support is useful for id3tags.

Mono's Mime routine uses /usr/share/mime/{magic,globs,subclasses,aliases}

If there do not exist, just not used.
I think not depends but suggests shared-mime-info.
