Bug#1072144: when set BOOT_TIMEOUT, md5sum of ./boot/grub/grub.cfg not match md5sum.txt which in iso
Package: simple-cdd Version: 0.6.9 Severity: minor Tags: security X-Debbugs-Cc: atzli...@sina.com Hi, When I run md5sum -c md5sum.txt in a mounted iso create by simple-cdd, I get the following errors: md5sum -c md5sum.txt .. md5sum: WARNING: 1 computed checksum did NOT match then run: md5sum -c md5sum.txt |grep -v OK ./boot/grub/grub.cfg: FAILED md5sum: WARNING: 1 computed checksum did NOT match I find ./boot/grub/grub.cfg is changed. The last line of ./boot/grub/grub.cfg is: set timeout=3 The checksum will match after remove this line in ./boot/grub/grub.cfg file. I had set BOOT_TIMEOUT=3 in my build.conf. I search simple-cdd source code repo, in tools/build/debian-cd file from line 118: grubcfg="$TDIR/$CODENAME/CD1/boot/grub/grub.cfg" if [ -f "$grubcfg" ]; then if [ -n "$BOOT_TIMEOUT" ]; then SEC_TIMEOUT=$(( $BOOT_TIMEOUT / 10 )) echo "set timeout=$SEC_TIMEOUT" >> $grubcfg fi The "set timeout=3" line is appended to grub.cfg when BOOT_TIMEOUT is set. IMHO, the grub.cfg checksum in md5sum.txt should computed again. This is a little affect about security to iso. I hope this bug can been fix. Bug#854661: RM: evilvte -- ROM; depends on deprecated lib, upstream no plan to fix it
Package: ftp.debian.org Severity: normal I am the upstream author and the Debian package maintainer of evilvte. I have not noticed bug #790168[1] until today, and I think it is time to remove the package. evilvte was one of the first terminal emulators to support libvte-2.90, and could support gtk2/gtk3 via dlopen trick. I still use evilvte as my daily terminal emulator, but I have no plan to support libvte-2.91 and newer version of gtk3. evilvte uses build-time configuration, so remove the pre-built package will not harm those users of evilvte. :-P Kind regards Wen-Yen Chuang (caleb) [1] bug #790168: gnome team plan to remove gtk2-based libvte9

Bug#648271: [debian-policy] 11.8.3 Packages providing a terminal emulator says xterm passes -e option straight to exec
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1,SHA512 On 07/09/12 09:41, Jonathan Nieder wrote: The proposal is to amend that second bullet point: |* Support the command-line option -e command arg..., which | creates a new terminal window and runs the specified command. | The arguments passed after -e form the argument list to the | executed program. In other words, the behavior is as though | the arguments were passed directly to execvp, bypassing the | shell. (xterm's behavior of falling back on using the shell if | -e had a single argument and exec failed is permissible but not | required.) Does that look like a good change to you? (If so, you may second it.) Any ideas for improving it? (Improvements welcome.) As the upstream author and deb maintainer of evilvte, I think this new proposal is good enough for me. I think x-terminal-emulator is used for a basically well-functioned terminal emulator, not for a full xterm clone. Some xterm-specific features are hard or never exist in some other terminal emulators. Debian policy should limit its definition to the most useful features, not to force other upstreams to rewrite a xterm. Cooke david.m@gmail.com * URL : http://code.google.com/p/numexpr/ * License : MIT Programming Lang: Python Description : Fast numerical array expression evaluator for Python and NumPy The numexpr package evaluates multiple-operator array expressions many times faster than NumPy can. It accepts the expression as a string, analyzes it, rewrites it more efficiently, and compiles it to faster Python code on the fly. It's the next best thing to writing the expression in C and compiling it with a specialized just-in-time (JIT) compiler, i.e. it does not require a compiler at runtime. And it is required by the update of python-tables. -- 真理从来没有战胜过谬误,真理只有在坚持谬误的人死去后才成为真理。 -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? tags 576624 patch thanks The attached patch will fix both problems for vte_terminal_set_background_image_file() and vte_terminal_set_background_transparent(). Upstream git codebase has changed much, so I will not send this patch to upstream. The most easy way to test the patch: 1. run Xephyr (and do not set any background) 2. run evilvte in Sid(and Sueeze) 3. Right-click in evilvte and select Toggle background It is cycled by the sequence: background image at $HOME/.config/evilvte/background.png, pseudo transparency, no background and no transparency (aka black) When there is no $HOME/.config/evilvte/background.png, evilvte will show nothing as background(aka black). You may link any image file to $HOME/.config/evilvte/background.png. (All image formats that can be processed by GTK+, not only png.) 4. Everything should be fine with the patch. Debian still use the traditional linker ld as the default one, so basically this bug is not a really problem for Debian. gold is a new linker developed by Google and has been merged to GNU binutils upstream. You may think gold as another ld with differerent default behavior. * Did the a debian build system change cause this? No. Only if users uses gold to link the binary will cause this. * Did xorg change the way they package libraries? No. * Did debian change the way they package xorg? No. * What does 'no-add-needed' mean? Cursory googling mentions that it was a recent gcc/ld patch, but doesn't really mention what it does or why it exists. It reduces unnecessary libraries linking. I can't test this as I don't use debian. I can confirm that the patch doesn't appear to break it building for me on ubuntu. I did not test it on Ubuntu but I believe it will work fine on it. Bug#532552: VTE 0.20.5 undone the unintended .soname bump (libvte.so.9 come back)
Package: libvte9 Version: 1:0.20.1-1 Severity: wishlist Hello, Thanks for the quick soname bump to libvte.so.10 (in Debian new queue currently). However, VTE 0.20.5 has undone the unintended .soname bump. We should keep using libvte.so.9 (libvte9) currently. I report this bug to prevent someone to rebuild all VTE applications against libvte.so.10 (libvte10). (I am the maintainer of evilvte. Evilvte works fine with VTE 0.20.5 aka libvte.so.9.) Bug#530504: ITP: libmath-rectorreal-perl -- Perl Module to handle 3D Vector Mathematics
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: Wen Heping wenhep...@gmail.com * Package name: libmath-rectorreal-perl Version : 1.02 Upstream Author : Anthony Thyssen anth...@cit.gu.edu.au * URL : http://search.cpan.org/~anthony/Math-VectorReal-1.02/ * License : GPL Programming Lang: Perl Description : Perl Module to handle 3D Vector Mathematics The Math::VectorReal package defines a 3D mathematical vector, in a way that is compatible with the previous CPAN module Math::MatrixReal. However it provides a more vector oriented set of mathematical functions and overload operators, to the MatrixReal package. For example the normal perl string functions x and . have been overloaded to allow vector cross and dot product operations. Vector math formula thus looks like vector math formula in perl programs using this package. While this package is compatible with Math::MatrixReal, you DO NOT need to have that package to perform purely vector orientated calculations. You will need it however if you wish to do matrix operations with these vectors. The interface has been designed with this package flexibility in mind. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble?
