Bug#1072144: when set BOOT_TIMEOUT, md5sum of ./boot/grub/grub.cfg not match md5sum.txt which in iso

2024-05-28 Thread xiao sheng wen
Package: simple-cdd
Version: 0.6.9
Severity: minor
Tags: security
X-Debbugs-Cc: atzli...@sina.com

Hi,

   When I run md5sum -c md5sum.txt in a mounted iso create by simple-cdd,
I get the following errors:

md5sum -c md5sum.txt
..
md5sum: WARNING: 1 computed checksum did NOT match

then run:

md5sum -c md5sum.txt |grep -v OK
./boot/grub/grub.cfg: FAILED
md5sum: WARNING: 1 computed checksum did NOT match

I find ./boot/grub/grub.cfg is changed.

The last line of ./boot/grub/grub.cfg is:

set timeout=3

The checksum will match after remove this line in ./boot/grub/grub.cfg file.

I had set BOOT_TIMEOUT=3 in my build.conf.

I search simple-cdd source code repo, in tools/build/debian-cd file from line
118:

grubcfg="$TDIR/$CODENAME/CD1/boot/grub/grub.cfg"
if [ -f "$grubcfg" ]; then
if [ -n "$BOOT_TIMEOUT" ]; then
SEC_TIMEOUT=$(( $BOOT_TIMEOUT / 10 ))
echo "set timeout=$SEC_TIMEOUT" >> $grubcfg
fi

The "set timeout=3" line is appended to grub.cfg when BOOT_TIMEOUT is set.

IMHO, the grub.cfg checksum in md5sum.txt should computed again.

This is a little affect about security to iso.

I hope this bug can been fix.

Thanks!

Bug#1023640: screen dark, BUG: kernel NULL pointer dereference, address: 0000000000000010, when use radeon.cik_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=1

Hi,

  My PC has [AMD/ATI] Kaveri [Radeon R7 Graphics] card.

When I add radeon.cik_support=0 amdgpu.cik_support=1 in grub.cfg boot line,
the PC can't boot, it's screen will dark, the keyboard also can't use.

I find the kernel NULL pointer infos in the kern.log after I power restart
the PC which not use amdgpu.cik_support=1:

The following infos copy from /var/log/kern.log:

Bug#932088: gdebi doenst ask for a root password. just silently closes

2020-12-15 Thread xiao sheng wen
Package: gdebi
Version: 0.9.5.7+nmu3
Followup-For: Bug #932088

Dear Maintainer,

/usr/bin/python3 /usr/bin/gdebi-gtk process don't has correct PPID in XFCE, the
parent ID is 1 in the XFCE.

atzlinux3424   1 24 16:09 ?00:00:10 /usr/bin/python3
/usr/bin/gdebi-gtk /home/atzlinux/download/qqmusic_1.0.5_amd64.deb

  ~~~
When I click Install button,I get the error info in .xsession-errors:
Refusing to render service to dead parents.
But in MATE, the gdebi-gtk process has the PPID of caja:
atzlinux16311455  1 15:52 ?00:00:02 caja
atzlinux20231631 11 15:54 ?00:00:10 /usr/bin/python3
/usr/bin/gdebi-gtk /home/atzlinux/download/qqmusic_1.0.5_amd64.deb
The caja is the file manager of MATE.
When I click Install button, there is a root password input display, the
process user became the root, pkexec can been invoked:
atzlinux16311455  1 15:52 ?00:00:02 caja
root20231631  6 15:54 ?00:00:10 pkexec gdebi-gtk
--non-interactive /home/atzlinux/download/qqmusic_1.0.5_amd64.deb
The deb package can install success.
Bug#854661: RM: evilvte -- ROM; depends on deprecated lib, upstream no plan to fix it
2017-02-09 Thread Wen-Yen Chuang
Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal
I am the upstream author and the Debian package maintainer of evilvte.
I have not noticed bug #790168[1] until today, and I think it is time
to remove the package.
evilvte was one of the first terminal emulators to support libvte-2.90,
and could support gtk2/gtk3 via dlopen trick.
I still use evilvte as my daily terminal emulator, but I have no plan
to support libvte-2.91 and newer version of gtk3.
evilvte uses build-time configuration, so remove the pre-built package
will not harm those users of evilvte. :-P
Kind regards
 Wen-Yen Chuang (caleb)
I can not reproduce the bug, and I think crashes happens only in exit
Patches are very welcome. :-)
Bug#648271: [debian-policy] 11.8.3 Packages providing a terminal emulator says xterm passes -e option straight to exec
 Does that look like a good change to you?  (If so, you may second
 it.) Any ideas for improving it?  (Improvements welcome.)
As the upstream author and deb maintainer of evilvte,
I think this new proposal is good enough for me.
I think x-terminal-emulator is used for a basically well-functioned
terminal emulator, not for a full xterm clone.
Some xterm-specific features are hard or never exist in some other
terminal emulators. Debian policy should limit its definition to the
most useful features, not to force other upstreams to rewrite a xterm.
Bug#638971: Wrong debian/copyright, should be GPL-2 only
2011-08-23 Thread Wen-Yen Chuang
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1,SHA512
Package: sakura
Version: 2.4.2-1
Hello,
One of my project was forked from sakura,
so I happen to find the bug in debian/copyright of sakura deb.
The license in upstream file, src/sakura.c, is:
...(omit)...under the terms of the GNU General Public License version
2 as published by the Free Software Foundation
Note that it is NOT:
...(omit)...either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any
later version.
So, the license in debian/copyright should be:
License: GPL-2 (remove the plus sign)
and
...(omit)...under the terms of the GNU General Public License version 2
(remove any later version)
Feel free to tag the bug with lower priority. :-)
The package description is:
 Figaro's Password Manager 2 (FPM2) is a program that allows you to securely
 .
 If the password is for a web site, FPM2 can keep track of the URLs of your
 login screens and can automatically launch your browser. In this capacity,
 FPM2 acts as a kind of bookmark manager. You can teach FPM2 to launch other
 applications, and optionally pass hostnames, usernames or passwords to the
 command line.
 .
 FPM2 also has a password generator that can choose passwords for you.
 It allows you to determine how long the password should be, and what types
 of characters (lower case, upper case, numbers and symbols) should be used.
 You can even have it avoid ambiguous characters such as a capital O or the
 number zero.
After reviewing you strace data, I believe that you are using
libc6-i686.
libc6-i686 is known to has risk of compatibility problems, so I suggest
you to remove the libc6-i686 package and try fpm2 again.
Removing libc6-i686 is absolutely harmless, and you can reinstall it
Otherwise I have no idea why fpm2 segfaults on your machine.
The numexpr package evaluates multiple-operator array expressions many
times faster than NumPy can. It accepts the expression as a string,
analyzes it, rewrites it more efficiently, and compiles it to faster
Python code on the fly. It's the next best thing to writing the
expression in C and compiling it with a specialized just-in-time (JIT)
compiler, i.e. it does not require a compiler at runtime.
And it is required by the update of python-tables.
Bug#576624: Segfault when loading the background pixbuf failed
2010-04-08 Thread Wen-Yen Chuang
tags 576624 patch
thanks
The attached patch will fix both problems for
vte_terminal_set_background_image_file() and
vte_terminal_set_background_transparent().
Upstream git codebase has changed much, so I will not send this patch to
upstream.
The most easy way to test the patch:
1. run Xephyr (and do not set any background)
2. run evilvte in Sid(and Sueeze)
3. Right-click in evilvte and select Toggle background
   It is cycled by the sequence:
background image at $HOME/.config/evilvte/background.png,
pseudo transparency,
no background and no transparency (aka black)
   When there is no $HOME/.config/evilvte/background.png,
   evilvte will show nothing as background(aka black).
   You may link any image file to $HOME/.config/evilvte/background.png.
   (All image formats that can be processed by GTK+, not only png.)
4. Everything should be fine with the patch.
The bug is due to upstream libxdo API transition.
I have uploaded the latest keynav (0.20100302.2713-1) to
mentors.debian.net and sent an RFS to debian-mentors mailing list.
The package can be found on:
- - dget
I would be glad if someone uploaded this package for me. :-)
Bug#554984: [keynav] Fails to build with GNU binutils gold linker
2009-11-09 Thread Wen-Yen Chuang
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1
Jordan Sissel wrote:
 Can someone give me some background on what changed to cause this
 build failure?
This bug is only for the new linker called gold.
Debian still use the traditional linker ld as the default one,
so basically this bug is not a really problem for Debian.
gold is a new linker developed by Google and has been merged to
GNU binutils upstream.
You may think gold as another ld with differerent default behavior.
 * Did the a debian build system change cause this?
No. Only if users uses gold to link the binary will cause this.
 * Did xorg change the way they package libraries?
No.
 * Did debian change the way they package xorg?
No.
 * What does 'no-add-needed' mean? Cursory googling mentions that it
 was a recent gcc/ld patch, but doesn't really mention what it does or
 why it exists.
It reduces unnecessary libraries linking.
 I can't test this as I don't use debian. I can confirm that the patch
 doesn't appear to break it building for me on ubuntu.
I did not test it on Ubuntu but I believe it will work fine on it.
Bug#530504: ITP: libmath-rectorreal-perl -- Perl Module to handle 3D Vector Mathematics
2009-05-25 Thread Wen Heping
Package: wnpp
Severity: wishlist
Owner: Wen Heping wenhep...@gmail.com
* Package name: libmath-rectorreal-perl
  Version : 1.02
  Upstream Author : Anthony Thyssen anth...@cit.gu.edu.au
* URL : http://search.cpan.org/~anthony/Math-VectorReal-1.02/
* License : GPL
  Programming Lang: Perl
  Description : Perl Module to handle 3D Vector Mathematics
The Math::VectorReal package defines a 3D mathematical vector, in a way that
is
compatible with the previous CPAN module Math::MatrixReal. However it provides
a more
vector oriented set of mathematical functions and overload operators, to the
MatrixReal
package. For example the normal perl string functions x and . have been
overloaded
to allow vector cross and dot product operations. Vector math formula thus
looks like
vector math formula in perl programs using this package.
While this package is compatible with Math::MatrixReal, you DO NOT need to have
that
package to perform purely vector orientated calculations. You will need it
however if
you wish to do matrix operations with these vectors. The interface has been
designed
with this package flexibility in mind.
Thanks to Lars.
I just uploaded 0.0.5-8 to mentors.debian.net. [2]
I tested it on Zaurus SL-C3200. It works fine on both directions.
I also uploaded an armel binary [3] for those who want to test it.
The diff file between 0.0.5-6 and 0.0.5-8 is attached.
 1. Without Rotate option, it works perfectly fine, as do
 2. With `Option Rotate CCW' it doesn't crash, but the clicks are not
 handled correctly, as they go to a different point of the screen. Sliding my
 finger horizontally results in a vertical cursor motion, and vica versa, so
 it
 seems that tslib doesn't know that the screen is rotated.
 The result with 0.0.5-7 is the same for me.
Hi Milko,
There are two sections that have to be set Rotate CCW.
One is section InputDevice where defines tslib, and
another one is section Device where defines fbdev.
You have to set both of them Option Rotate CCW.
At least, it do work fine on my machine. :-)
2009-04-13 Thread Wen-Yen Chuang
Package: xserver-xorg
Severity: normal
This is related with (but not depends on) #515214.
X can run perfectly well without the console-setup package. (and HAL,
see #515214)
Please demote this dependency to an Recommends, or,
if it can not be done due to upgrade concerns, please provide an
alternative xserver-xorg-tiny package without HAL and console-setup.
Debian Policy section 7.2 says:
   The Depends field should be used if the depended-on package is
   required for the depending package to provide a significant amount of
   functionality.
   The Recommends field should list packages that would be found
   together with this one in all but unusual installations.
Most users are perfectly capable to install recommends.
This is the default behavior in Debian.
If they like to install every piece of software, that makes their life
easier, they can install recommends.
Setting VteTerminalEraseBinding to VTE_ERASE_ASCII_DELETE will resolve
the problem.
Thanks to Tetralet tetralet AT gmail DOT com for the information.
In evilvte, you may #define BACKSPACE_KEY DELETE,
which will use VTE_ERASE_ASCII_DELETE as VteTerminalEraseBinding.
I have used VTE_ERASE_ASCII_DELETE for about 3 weeks,
and does not find any adverse consequence.
I think it is safe to close this bug once the new upload set
VteTerminalEraseBinding to VTE_ERASE_ASCII_DELETE.
I will provide a hotkey or a menu to toggle it in 0.4.5
but I hope I can push 0.4.4-1 to Sid before the 0.4.5 release. :-)
I think most people may just use click and drag to copy,
and middle-click to paste.
 Apart from this the statusbar could be disabled by default, since it's
 'just' showing the character encoding. This may be useful for
 debuging, but most times it's not needed.
I will disable it in next release.
 - suggest users to install hal, thus touchscreen will be auto-detected
However, my only one machine that can use this driver has only one
It has been fixed in 0.4.4. :-)
 When closing the dialog, I sometimes also get a
It only occurs when GTK_NOTEBOOK has no tab titles.
GTK+ will auto-assign titles for every tabs in this situation.
Default titles in POSIX locale are Page 1, Page 2, etc.
They are i18n-sensitive, and will auto-change according to gtk20.mo.
For example, those titles will be 第 1 頁, 第 2 頁 in zh_TW locale.
There are 3 options in evilvte to avoid this do-no-harm message:
TAB_LABEL, TAB_LABEL_POEM, and TAB_LABEL_CUSTOM.
Just defind any one of them will close this bug.
However, since evilvte has no i18n associated codes,
I think it is better to leave the do-no-harm message there.
Upstream author has fixed it and planed to release fpm2 0.75
(with other changes) recently.
I plan to upload 0.75 directly, thus I do not have to bother my sponsor
twice. :-P
Kind regards
Thank you!
I have tested the patch.
Disable EmulateRightButton and everything is normal on
Sharp Zaurus SL-C3200.
It still do not work when EmulateRightButton is enabled on Zaurus,
as I mentioned before. [1] [2]
Anyway, since it is ok on freerunner, I am happy to include the patch.
:-)
I have uploaded 0.0.5-4 to mentors.debian.net with yor patch.
I have also mailed an RFS to debian-mentors.
Kind regards
 Wen-Yen Chuang (caleb)
