Bug#1076011: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk: today's xdg-desktop-portal-gtk upgrade causes slow firefox start

2024-07-09 Thread allan grossman
Package: xdg-desktop-portal-gtk
Version: 1.15.1-1+b1
Severity: normal
X-Debbugs-Cc: wizard10...@gmail.com

This morning I upgraded Unstable and received a new version of xdg-desktop-
portal-gtk, which causes firefox to hang on start but it will eventually start
after 25-30 seconds.

Removing xdg-desktop-portal-gtk resolves the issue.

Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
X-Debbugs-Cc: wizard10...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

* What led up to the situation?

Running Debian Unstable, upgraded qbittorrent-nox to version 4.5.3-2 and
restarted its systemd service.

* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?

content.

* What outcome did you expect instead?

I expected the web interface to display in a browser window.

Bug#991320: flameshot crashing on startup

2021-07-20 Thread allan grossman
Package: flameshot
Version: 0.9.0+ds1-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable
X-Debbugs-Cc: wizard10...@gmail.com

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Have flameshot gui -p /home/username/temp set in openbox autostart. Mapped
hotkeys were not responding.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

This probably isn't a flameshot bug but I'm not sure where it goes - flameshot
crashes when started in openbox autostart or from terminal session and have
duplicated the error on two Sid machines. If you execute
"dbus-update-activation-environment DISPLAY XAUTHORITY" flameshot gui will
start for about half a second and then crash, which is better than running in a
terminal session where it won't display GUI at all before crashing.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

flameshot still not working.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Expected flameshot to run as normal :)

Bug#989255: qbittorrent-nox web UI fails after qt5 upgrade

2021-05-30 Thread allan grossman
Package: qbittorrent-nox
Version: 4.2.5-0.1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Ran aptitude safe-upgrade this morning which updated qt5 libraries. After
reboot, qbittorrent-nox web UI is inaccessible.
Tried opening web UI in Chrome and Firefox and both browsers download the
page instead of opening it. Backend works just
fine as radarr and sonarr are both communicating with it just fine but web
UI is broken.

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

 Restarted qbittorrent-nox several times.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

qbittorrent-nox backend works, web UI does not.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Expected web UI to work as designed.

Bug#912746: volumeicon-alsa: volumeicon causes machine to overheat

2018-11-03 Thread allan grossman
Package: volumeicon-alsa
Version: 0.5.1+git20170117-1
Severity: grave
Justification: renders package unusable

dear maintainer,

Ran apt full-upgrade this morning; had been holding off because of Perl upgrade
but apt said I was good to go this morning.

After rebooting both machines (both Dell Precision laptops, one first-gen and
one fourth-gen i7) for a kernel upgrade I noticed CPU temps above 85°C.

Ran glances to find out what the problem was and found a single core running at
100% on both machines. Killed volumeicon on both machines and temps returned
to normal. Restarting volumeicon caused temps to rise again.

2017-06-27 Thread allan grossman
Package: calibre
Version: 3.1.1+dfsg-1
Followup-For: Bug #866102

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

calibre fails to start if autolaunch_server = True in ~/.config/calibre/gui.py

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)?

Disabled server autolaunch, which allowed calibre to start. After reading bug
report referenced here, installed python-msgpack.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Installing python-msgpack resolved the issue and server now autostarts and
calibre appears to run normally.

Bug#864153: debian-installer-9-netboot-amd64: debian mini-iso manual partitioning option does not allow selecting disks

2017-06-04 Thread allan grossman
Package: debian-installer-9-netboot-amd64
Severity: important
Tags: d-i

Dear Maintainer,

When installing Debian Unstable from mini-iso the manual partitioner does not
allow you to select which disk to partition. It would only allow me to
partition the flash drive from which I booted the installer.

Guided partitioning allowed me to select the correct disk, but the manual
installer should be able to select a disk other than the one booted from.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

As mentioned, conky exits.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Expected conky to autostart.

Bug#785722: conky-all: wlan conditional fails with kernel 4.x

2015-05-19 Thread allan grossman
Package: conky-all
Version: 1.9.0-6
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Updaded Sid to kernel 4.0.0-1

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Have conditional in conky that looks like this -

${if_existing /proc/net/route wlan0}
wireless bitrate:$alignr${wireless_bitrate wlan0}
$alignr${wireless_link_bar 3,150 wlan0}
link quality:$alignr${wireless_link_qual_perc wlan0}%${endif}

   * What was the outcome of this action?

Output displays once then freezes. Wireless bitrate always reads 1mb/sec and
link quality always reads either 34% or 99% Output does not change even though
conky refreshes every 1 sec. Worked fine in previous kernels.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

Expected wireless output to work as in previous versions instead of hanging.

Bug#763209: general: laptop panel no longer powers off

2014-09-28 Thread allan grossman
Package: general
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,

   * What led up to the situation?

Received and installed updates to Jessie this morning.

Up until this morning's updates my monitor powered off after 10 minutes of
inactivity. DPMS can no longer power the monitor off, even using 'xset dpms
force off'

Attaching /var/log/apt/history.log

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

All I did was run daily upgrades.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

DPMS failed to power down the monitor after booting into the new kernel.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I expected to be able to power down the monitor.

Bug#761427: installation-reports: unofficial jessie with firmware fails to find firmware

2014-09-13 Thread allan grossman
Package: installation-reports
Severity: important
Tags: d-i

Dear Maintainer,

*** Reporter, please consider answering these questions, where appropriate ***

   * What led up to the situation?

Clean install of Jessie. Used dd to copy

http://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware
/weekly-builds/amd64/iso-cd/firmware-jessie-DI-b1-amd64-netinst.iso

to a 4gb flasn drive. Command used was

dd bs=4M if=/path/to/image.iso of=/dev/sdb && sync

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
 ineffective)?

Installer fails to find non-free firmware on the flash drive.

   * What was the outcome of this action?

I expected the installer to find the firmware on its own media. What *did*
work was extracting the firmware tarball to /firmware on a *second* flash drive
and inserting that drive before starting the installer.

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

I expected the installer to find the firmware without having to insert a second
flash drive with firmware alone to complete the install.
