Bug#1062979: tango-db: the upgraded version of tango-db is not compatible with maria-db from bookworm
> Santiago Ruano Rincón hat am 25.10.2024 20:15 CEST > geschrieben: > Sorry for the noise. I can confirm there is an issue in bookworm, and it > is present even without upgrading from bullseye. Which makes sense with > https://gitlab.com/tango-controls/TangoDatabase/-/issues/69 > > I will propose a bookworm update soon. Yes, this is indeed an issue on bookworm as well. But the problem only occurs if you use the table and not when you create them. Based on Santiago's MR https://gitlab.com/tango-controls/TangoDatabase/-/merge_requests/82 I've created a new one with a test and an upgrade script, see https://gitlab.com/tango-controls/TangoDatabase/-/merge_requests/95. Please test. Thomas

Bug#1065685: ITP: raysession -- Session Manager for Audio Software
Package: wnpp Severity: wishlist Owner: s...@debian.org * Package name: raysession Version : 0.14.3 Upstream Author : houston * URL : https://github.com/Houston/RaySession * License : GPL-2 and ISC Programming Lang: Python and Qt5 Description : Ray Session is a GNU/Linux session manager for audio programs as Ardour, Carla, QTractor, Non-Timeline, etc It uses the same API as Non Session Manager, so programs compatible with NSM are also compatible with Ray Session. As Non Session Manager, the principle is to load together audio programs, then be able to save or close all documents together. . Ray Session offers a little more: . - Factory templates for NSM and LASH compatible applications - Possibility to save any client as template - Save session as template - Name files with a prettier way - remember if client was started or not - Abort session almost anytime - Change Main Folder of sessions on GUI - Possibility to KILL client if clean exit is too long - Open Session Folder button (open default file manager) I am preparing this package in salsa, which is based on the version of ubuntu: https://salsa.debian.org/multimedia-team/raysession -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 6.7.7-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=de_DE.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled

Bug#1061260: ITP: aida-x -- Amp Model Player leveraging AI
Package: wnnp Severity: wishlist Owner: s...@debian.org * Package name: aida-x Version : 1.0.0 Upstream Author : Filipe Coelho * URL : https://github.com/AidaDSP/AIDA-X * License : GPL-3+ and others Programming Lang: C++ Description : AIDA-X is an Amp Model Player, allowing it to load models of AI trained music gear, which you can then play through! Its main intended use is to provide high fidelity simulations of amplifiers. However, it is also possible to run entire signal chains consisting of any combination of amp, cab, dist, drive, fuzz, boost and eq. I agree. | and [ should catch the vast majority of regexes already, and you'll always be able to add [] around a literal char just to disable the warning in the remaining cases. > I'm not even going to bother with checking if the regex is too long (e.g. > somethingverylonghere|somethingelsethatisverylong) because this is a simple > check. Yes, you'd go mad trying to figure out things like something(verylonghere|elsethatislong) anyway. Bug#1037450: procps: [pgrep] [regression]: >15 characters warning when long regex doesn't match
Package: procps Version: 2:4.0.3-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, Bug #896062 has come back from the grave: | $ pgrep "something|otherthing" | pgrep: pattern that searches for process name longer than 15 characters will result in zero matches | Try `pgrep -f' option to match against the complete command line. | $ Note *the regex* is longer than 15 chars, what gets matched is shorter. The 2018 fix was "new kernels have 64 char process names anyway", so I'm surprised to see that I'm having process names limited to 15 chars in 2023. But regardless of the actual limit, the warning is bogus. See https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=896062 for full rationale; everything there applies again, including my offer to help. Bug#975389: Review of dpf-plugins RFS
Hi Ross, thanks a lot for the review. I uploaded a new version, and i think i fixed all problems, hopefully. Best regards, Dennis Am 23.01.21 um 18:22 schrieb Ross Gammon: tag 975389 + moreinfo owner 975389 ! thanks Hi Dennis, Thanks for packaging dpf-plugins for Debian. Here is a review: Need fixing: d/changelog: 1. This is the initial release in Debian, so the the changelog should be empty except for the "Initial debian release (Closes: #953129)" entry. The earlier packaging work for KXStudio & Ubuntu is at least credited in d/copyright. d/copyright: 2. The distrho/extra plugins seem to be using the ISC license (not GPL2+), or at least that is the case for Thread.hpp. 3. dpf/distrho/extra/String.hpp has "Copyright (C) 2004-2008 René Nyffenegger", and Rene is not listed at all in d/copyright. 4. I stopped checking the d/copyright file here. I recommend a thorough check of d/copyright to ensure the package passes smoothly through the ftp-master review. Minor/optional stuff: 5. d/dpf-plugins-vst.lintian-overrides (and for the lv2, ladspa & dssi packages): "splitted" is not grammatically correct, and the lintian output should not be overriden, but a patch sent upstream. "3 Band Equalizer, split output version" would be better. 6. dpf-plugins-common emits a lintian warning about "no-manual-page" for the binaries. I tried a couple of them and they seem to open gui's and the normal -h & -v options do nothing. Maybe we could check the others and override the warning? Other comments: 7. I see version 1.4 is now available upstream. If you prefer, we could update to a full release rather than the "1.3 plus git commit" we have at the moment. I would be happy to upload with at least the first four comments fixed! Regards, Ross FBEE 0190 904F 1EA0 BA6A 300E 53FE 7BBD A689 10FC

Bug#541473: exim4: Per-user smarthost settings
Package: exim4 Version: 4.94-8 Followup-For: Bug #541473 Hi, While Marc Haber gives reasons for not doing this in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=750122#20 , I found the following: https://debianforum.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=147183#p970884 | # Fix to use user specific smarthosts. Save the configured smarthost | # in DCdefault_sh and do a lookup for DCsmarthost. | DCdefault_sh = DCsmarthost | DCsmarthost == ${lookup{$sender_address}lsearch{CONFDIR/smarthost_users}{$value}{DCdefault_sh}} Dropping this fragment into /etc/exim4/conf.d/main/foo (if using split config), calling update-exim4.conf and restarting exim makes exim evaluate the /etc/exim4/smarthost_users file that allows overriding the default smarthost on a per-sender-address. Just plop foo@domain:smarthost pairs in there and make it group-readable by Debian-exim. I can't judge whether this is a gross hack or suitable for inclusion in Debian, but hopefully it helps somebody. (I'd also be grateful if anyone could point out an MTA that is designed for handing off mails to multiple smarthosts like this, while also being able to do local delivery.) regards, Jan signature.asc Description: PGP signature

Package: ratpoison Version: 1.4.9-1+b1 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, When using ":tmpwm openbox", and subsequently quitting Openbox again, some root window X properties set by openbox remain: | $ xprop -root ; ratpoison -c 'tmpwm openbox' & sleep 2 ; killall openbox ; fg ; xprop -root | _NET_WM_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "ratpoison" | _NET_SUPPORTED(ATOM) = _NET_WM_PID | XFree86_DDC_EDID1_RAWDATA(INTEGER) = [...snip...] | RESOURCE_MANAGER(STRING) = [...snip...] | _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "de", "nodeadkeys", "terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp,compose:menu,numpad:mac,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" | XFree86_has_VT(INTEGER) = 1 | XFree86_VT(INTEGER) = 2 | [1] 26304 | ratpoison -c 'tmpwm openbox' | _NET_WM_NAME(UTF8_STRING) = "ratpoison" | _NET_SUPPORTED(ATOM) = _NET_WM_PID | _NET_CLIENT_LIST(WINDOW): window id # | _NET_CURRENT_DESKTOP(CARDINAL) = 0 | _NET_DESKTOP_NAMES(UTF8_STRING) = "desktop 1", "desktop 2", "desktop 3", "desktop 4" | _NET_WORKAREA(CARDINAL) = 0, 0, 1920, 1080, 0, 0, 1920, 1080, 0, 0, 1920, 1080, 0, 0, 1920, 1080 | _NET_DESKTOP_VIEWPORT(CARDINAL) = 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0, 0 | _NET_NUMBER_OF_DESKTOPS(CARDINAL) = 4 | _NET_DESKTOP_GEOMETRY(CARDINAL) = 1920, 1080 | _NET_CLIENT_LIST_STACKING(WINDOW): window id # 0x81 | _OB_THEME(UTF8_STRING) = "Clearlooks" | _OB_VERSION(UTF8_STRING) = "3.6.1" | _NET_SUPPORTING_WM_CHECK(WINDOW): window id # 0xc0020b | XFree86_DDC_EDID1_RAWDATA(INTEGER) = [...snip...] | RESOURCE_MANAGER(STRING) = [...snip...] | _XKB_RULES_NAMES(STRING) = "evdev", "pc105", "de", "nodeadkeys", "terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp,compose:menu,numpad:mac,terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp" | XFree86_has_VT(INTEGER) = 1 | XFree86_VT(INTEGER) = 2 | $ (One or more of) these xprops reproducibly cause Firefox to crash, unless I manually remove them or restart X. I'm tempted to forgive Firefox in this case, because presumably they're announcing some Window Manager capability that ratpoison doesn't provide. Of course, it would be nice if $TMPWM cleaned up after itself, but I'm not sure if that's a realistic ask: most WMs probably expect the X session to die when they quit, so why would they? And if they crash, they can't. Thus I think ratpoison cleaning up after the tmpwm exits is the best place to do it, hence filing as wishlist here. Feel free to reassign/clone as you see fit. I can of course script ratpoison to do the cleaning up, but this feels like a function that should be default. And/or maybe ratpoison should grow a hookable event when :tmpwm returns, so people can easily drop a cleanup hook in there? Thank you for maintaining ratpoison! Bug#967211: swami: Unversioned Python removal in sid/bullseye
Hi Matthias, it looks for me that this bug is false positive, because swami has no python dependency and py-compile from the root dir is not in use. Best regards, Dennis

In [1] I still have I: tango-accesscontrol: hardening-no-fortify-functions usr/lib/tango/TangoAccessControl. and checking with hardening-check gives the same output as before. [1]: https://salsa.debian.org/science-team/tango/-/jobs/808832

Bug#964555: pal: please provide pal2ical and ical2pal binaries
Package: pal Version: 0.4.3-8.1+b5 Severity: wishlist Dear Maintainer, pal2ical and ical2pal from the "src/convert" directory are currently distributed as source in /usr/share/doc/pal/examples/ . I've found ical2pal extremely helpful in the past, and now have a use case for pal2ical as well. Unfortunately, things have bitrotted somewhat and building those programs myself out of /u/s/d/pal/examples/ is no longer possible: * pal2ical.c has several #include "../foo" directives that access pal source files from the "src" directory, which are obviously not present in /usr/share/doc/pal/ . * The libical header is named nowadays. * The makefile doesn't link with libical. * is_valid_mmdd() has changed its number of arguments. * various other issues in pal2ical. Also, C source files being gzip compressed is an annoyance. To prevent future bitrot and to make these useful programs available to all Debian users, please package them as binaries instead. I've started working on this, my WIP patch is attached. It allows building a functional ical2pal and fixes an assert() with invalid/unreadable input files. Unfortunately, I'm out of time for the moment. If you could fixup pal2ical and add the necessary debian packaging bits, that would be awesome. Otherwise, this bug will serve to document the status quo until I find the time to finish things. Thank you for maintaining pal!
