Bug#1020315: bind9: Spams /var/log/syslog with appramor DENIED /sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled

2022-09-19 Thread Debian bugreport

Package: bind9
Version: 1:9.18.6-2
Severity: normal
Tags: patch
X-Debbugs-Cc: pkg-apparmor-t...@lists.alioth.debian.org

With apparmor enabled for named, the /var/log/syslog file ends up with
allot of unnecessary DENIED messages,
as the as read access to/sys/kernel/mm/transparent_hugepage/enabled
seems to have accidentally excluded by the hardening.

Restoring the read access seems to resolve the issue, see attached patch.

Bug#778627: live-build: syslinux mbr.bin file not found (again)

2015-05-14 Thread sage-debian-live-bugreport
Hi,

migrating to jessie, i am experiencing the same problem.

Currently live-build is broken on jessie, which distributes version
4.0.3-1 of live-build, not 4.0.4-1. It is currently not possible to build
hdd images, hence it could be very nice to consider this bug as important
and provide a fix to jessie.

Thanks,
Thierry

these bugs look like duplicates. There might be more duplicates, because
of the nature of the bug.

Bug#678341: Digikam crashes when trying to adjust timestamp or geo tag of an image

2012-06-20 Thread bugreport

Package: digikam
Version: 4:2.6.0-1

Hi there,

when I try to adjust the timestamps of a picture and open the
corresponding dialogue, Digikam crashes. Same with the geo localization
dialogue. This behaviour is new and came with some recent updates of
packages other than Digikam. Because when I used the very same version
of Digikam before (I had updated right away, when it was uploaded), it
would display wrong timestamps and/or get mixed up when I adjusted the
timestamps. When adjusting metatags I prefer an application crashing
than an application that would get the metatags wrong.

In my installation the following packages (among others) were held back
in connection with the switch from MySQL 5.1 to 5.5: libqt4-sql
libqt4-sql-sqlite. I just upgraded MySQL and these packages. But Digikam
still crashes.

Thx,

Malte

Bug#675086: No change with KDE 4.8.3

2012-05-31 Thread bugreport

Hi there,

I have the same bug in the current Digikam package (I also had this
problem in the one before that). Rotation is not possible. Usually I
rotate not by hand, but by using the Exif information. I get the same
result.

So I installed KDE 4.8.3 with these instructions [1] to see if the
problem is solved in this. It is not.

Thx,

Malte

Bug#668602: Using IMAP Peek option so email read/unread status is not changed

2012-04-13 Thread bugreport

Package: getmail4
Version: 4.20.0-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi there,

I would like to back up mails stored in a GMail account automatically on
a regular basis, while still using said GMail accout. Since I personally
don't need to preserve the folder structure and don't want copies, I
just use the "All Mail" folder.

Tools like offlineimap, imapsync and such (all in Debian) can't do this,
since they propagate changes back and forth. So if I move a backup mail,
it would be deleted in GMail and if I delete a mail in GMail, it would
delete this same mail from my backup.

I tried Fetchmail, but it utterly fails, because it only downloads
unread mails or all mails over and over every time it starts, because it
doesn't keep it's own database.

In fact, Getmail seems to be the only tool useful for such a job.
Unfortunately, Getmail will mark all mails as read, once it runs. So if
I run it at night, all mails that arrive after I switched off the mail
client will be marked as read when I turn the "normal" client back on.

This could be prevented if Getmail would use the "peek" option. In this
[1] discussion, the author of Getmail indicated [2], that he won't
implement it, because it doesn't work properly with all IMAP servers.

Because of that, someone created a fork [3], in which Getmail uses the
peek option. But only optional. The default behaviour is to act like the
standard Getmail.

This is exactly how I would like Getmail to work. Have an peek available
as an option.

It would also be interesting to know exactly which servers and widely
used IMAP services (AOL, GMail, etc.) don't work well with the "peek"
option. Maybe have a list available, or even implement it directly in
Getmail, so it will tell you when it thinks that the peek option is
unsafe, because it is connecting to an incompatible imap server.

thx,

Malte

Bug#666522: b43 driver couldn't find firmware files

Hi there,

my b43 driver (package linux-image-3.2.0-2-686-pae) couldn't find the

/lib/firmware/b43/*fw

Now the b43 driver can find the firmware files perfectly.

Bug#655404: firmware-linux-nonfree Radeon R300-family problem

2012-01-10 Thread bugreport

Package: firmware-linux-nonfree
Version: 0.34
Severity: low

Hi there,

I recently tried to install a couple distributions on a Fujitsu Amilo M
1420 laptop. Kubuntu 11.10, Fedora 16 and PCLinuxOS KDE 2011 all crashed
either during install or when booting the installed system. Debian
Squeeze installed fine. Until I installed the firmware-linux-nonfree
package to get rid of the missing microcode error message from xorg. If
firmware-linux-nonfree is installed under Wheezy the system won't boot
properly. In Squeeze it is still possible to remove the
firmware-linux-nonfree package and reboot, but you first have to stop
the error messages spamming the console. X11 won't work at all. Trying
to use it will lock the machine.

This problem could be related to the Xorg-Radeon driver as well as a
hardware bug in either the ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 PRO (RV350) chip
generally, of this particular laptop or even this very machine.
Nonetheless, removing or not installing firmware-linux-nonfree is my
current workaround. The graphics still work fine.

thx,

Malte

It is the same like with a cardreader:
I have a cardreader connected to the mainboard usb-pins (stationary) -
when inerting cards, I get the "UDF-fs: No VRS found". I have another
cardreader (mobile) - when I plug in the card AFTER I plugged in the
cardReader to a usb port I got the VRS-Message; when I plug in the card
into the cardReader BERFORE, the card gets mounted as it should.

debian OS last update 11.04.2011

If you need some more details, pls let me know.

Cheers,
Anderson

Bug#611662: kwallet hides behind splash screen, amarok stuck

2011-01-31 Thread bugreport

Package: amarok
Version: 2.3.1-1
Severity: low

Hi there,

I run IceWM and when I start Amarok it wants to open KWallet. The
KWallet password entry windows appears next to the Amarok splash screen.
But when I type in a wrong password, KWallet will hide behind the Amarok
splash screen and wait for the next try.
I can easily rectify this situation by clicking on the splash screen to
make it disappear, but that did not occur to me the first time it
happened. I was wondering why Amarok didn't start up and thought it crashed.

This might be a KWallet bug, but I don't use any other KWallet-dependent
programs. So...

Cheers,

Malte

Bug#607797: boot hangs with pcspkr driver error

2010-12-22 Thread bugreport

Package: udev
Version: 164-3

Hi there,

I just installed Debian Squeeze on my Thinkpad X41 notebook. Then
installed a couple packages and on reboot the system hangs on this message:

Waiting for /dev to be fully populated... [12.612160] Error: Driver
'pcspkr' is already registered, aborting ...

Everything is standard, I did not yet change anything. I replaced the
standard hd with a compact flash module and therefore used the btrfs
filesystem for my root/home drive (boot drive is seperate) and also
encrypted it using the installer (encrypt drive using luks).

System booted fine twice when I first installed it. Only hangs after
installing a whole bunch of desktop related packages, among them udev.
Feel free to move this bug to an appropriate package if you think udev
is not responsible.

Thx,

Malte

It is a headless Debian Squeeze server running on a lvm on top of a
raid1. Two outgoing lines and some fancy routing to have a failover
working together with some basic load balancing:

http://tech.gaeatimes.com/index.php/archive/how-to-load-balancing-failover-with-dual-multi-wan-adsl-cable-connections-on-linux/

Other than that it is only a standard SMB fileserver. The very same
setup worked fine in Lenny.

Bug#602541: pidgin: Logon to ICQ no possible

2010-11-06 Thread bugreport
On Fri, 05 Nov 2010 you wrote:

Same situation here. I can not connect to ICQ since end of October.
Yet this is persistent, not just in some situations.
I was using pidgin 2.7.3 from lenny bpo.
I verified that i get the same behaviour with pidgin 2.7.3 on squeeze.
I have not tried 2.7.5.

Some more details (logs from squeeze):

The usual error message is:
> Received unexpected response from
> https://api.oscar.aol.com/aim/startOSCARSession: Ok

The debug window says:

(i have removed the cookie)

After unchecking "Use ClientLogin" in Account Preferences, the error message
changes to:
> Unable to connect to BOS server: SSL Handshake Failed

with debug window:
> (21:40:47) proxy: Attempting connection to 205.188.3.86

I have not tried to connect without SSL.

The pidgin changelog at http://developer.pidgin.im/wiki/ChangeLog says:
version 2.7.5 (10/31/2010)
AIM and/or ICQ:
# New ICQ accounts default to proper ICQ servers. Old accounts using one of the
old default servers will be silently migrated to use the proper servers.
# ICQ accounts using clientLogin now use the correct ICQ servers. This is
separate from the server settings mentioned above.

But changing server from slogin.oscar.aol.com to slogin.icq.com
(as suggested by migrate_icq_server() from pidgin-2.7.5/libpurple/account.c)
does not help.

Bug#524342: wrong package

2010-10-31 Thread bugreport
Hi,
I didn't use the installer this is the same system that I installed on the
third of october (see original mail from that day in this report). No reinstall
this time. I guess this update should go against grub-pc rather than the
installer. But maybe it is interesting nonetheless, because grub-pc is also
used in the installer.

bye,

Malte

Bug#601823: Root on LVM on Raid1 won't boot custom kernel, stock kernel works fine

2010-10-29 Thread bugreport

Package: initramfs-tools
Version: 0.98.5
Severity: wishlist

Hi there,

this is most likely not a bug, but rather an error on my part, but I
thought you might be interested in this. I installed a Squeeze system on
an LVM sitting on a Linux softraid 1 array. I have a seperate boot
partition that I finally put on a raid as well, but also tested the
following when the boot partition was still on a "normal" partition on
the first disk.
The stock kernel boots fine, but I wanted to build my own kernel. I
build it using make-kpkg --uc --us --bzimage --initrd kernel_image. All
necessary kernel options are set correctly (checked that four times) for
both initramfs, dm and raid. But still the kernel doesn't boot into
root. It drops right into busybox when it tries to access root. It even
says it mounts the "other" raid (the one that boot is now sitting on).

Don't know if this is the right place, but in the past I have build a
lot of kernels and installed lots of systems on softraid. Now on Squeeze
it won't work in combination (softraid and my own kernel).

Maybe you will be able to reproduce this one easily. I use AMD64
architecture btw.

I confirmed that initramfs is working, because it is loading a bunch of
modules for the network and block devices.

Error message is:
mdadm: No devices listed in conf file were found.
Failure: failed to assemble all arrays

And it does load the raid1 modules right above that error message.

append="rootdelay=10" also didn't help.

Thx,

Malte

Hi there,

I just removed the spare and that didn't change anything. Otherwise the setup
is exactly the same. I did an aptitude update && upgrade first. So it is a
Squeeze system.
grub-install (after apt-get install grub-pc) results in segfault at 10d3b48 ip

Bug#524342: Problem might be related to raid metadata version

2010-10-04 Thread bugreport
I should have thought of that one myself (taking out the spare). But
unfortunately I currently don't have access to that machine. I might be back as
early as either this week or this weekend, but I am not sure. Sorry.

Background information: One of the softraid guys said that spinning down spare
drives might work with metadata 1.2, but will not work for sure with metadata
format 0.9. So the whole point of the ordeal to work with the new metadata
version, that seems to be the cause of the grub headache was to get a hot spare
that doesn't spin up.
Otherwise I could just add it as an active member.

Thx for your help,
Malte

Bug#524342: Problem might be related to raid metadata version

2010-10-03 Thread bugreport
Hi there,

I was able to boot into my system using a kernel off the System Rescue CD. But
neither grub-legacy, grub-pc nor lilo was able to install on either the mbr or
any partition.

At that time I only had two partitions on all three drives. One was
softraid1/root and the other softraid1/swap. I believe that problem is related
to the new metadata version in mdadm (1.2) as pointed out over here:

http://www.mail-archive.com/debian-...@lists.debian.org/msg13759.html

But in that bug report they are talking about older versions of Grub2 (prior
1.98+20100720-1), but I even installed from sid ((1.98+20100804-5) and Grub
only gave me segmentation faults.

Then I changed my disk layout during install. This time I created a boot
partition on /dev/sda with ext3, no softraid, no mdadm and put root into a
softraid (metdata 1.2, created by squeeze install) over all three drives. The
softraid partitions start about 1GB into the drives. There is the boot
partition up front. I was not able to install grub on the drive, but I was able
to install Lilo from the installation system. After that I booted into the
installation and tried to install Grub again on the MBR, but even though I had
a simple boot partition that Lilo was able to boot from I got a segfault from
both Grub-legacy and Grub-PC trying to install those. On any of the mbrs from
the three disks as well as the boot partition.

Meanwhile Lenny installs fine with any setup. But Lenny creates softraid
partitions with the 0.9 version metadata.

Cheers,

Malte

Bug#576274: I finally have a meaningful log to report

2010-05-27 Thread bugreport
Hi there,

I am currently running linux-image-2.6.32-5-686 and I checked /var/log/kern.log
instead of /var/log/Xorg.0.log for clues after another "white screen" (I am
pretty tired of testing suspend, because the white screen always happens when I
am right in the middle of work), and here it is. Finally some meaningful log
output to back up the bug report:

May 27 09:15:29 voltaire kernel: [16440.384972] render error detected, EIR:

May 27 09:15:29 voltaire kernel: [16440.385002] PGTBL_ER: 0x0010

For almost an hour nothing is in there before that time and nothing happens
after that until I shut the machine down.

Thx,

Malte

Problem remains the same, computer is fine after normal boot, but the screen
goes white after pm-suspend, wake up, and then some time after that.

Here is some log output from the wakeup about an hour earlier:

Bug#575193: tmux dont refresh console

2010-05-24 Thread debian-bugreport
I have the same issue on an Debian 5.0 vserver installation, Im using tmux only
over an SSH connection.

The screen wont be refreshed, eg if I type something I dont see the
result, till switch the tab and then switch back...
The bug only appears from time to time, also when I dont restart tmux
the buggy behaviour dissappears for some time...

Thought first its because I had used the libc6 stable version instead of
the testing ver, but upgrading to libc6 testing dont solve the problem..
Dont know the steps to reproduce it, maybe SSH connection losses have
something todo with..

Bug#576274: bug still present in current kernel from Sid

2010-04-21 Thread bugreport
Hi,

I tested the current linux-image-2.6.32-4-686 in Sid and the problem is indeed
still there. Current workaround: Don't use suspend.

I use the laptop while testing and I always lose a little of the stuff I work
on when the screen goes dark (the stuff not saved yet). So I really recommend
the workaround for now.

Cheers,

Malte

Bug#576274: This time crash with log output

2010-04-08 Thread bugreport
I finally got a crash with a log output. The strange thing is that this time it
was an X sever crash instead of "just" the blank screen.

I had about three to four "pm-suspend" (without --auto-quirks). This time the
keyboard also did not work any more and the screen went black with hyphen bar
in the upper right corner. Font size looked like the one when not running X.

Bug#576274: additional info

2010-04-06 Thread bugreport
I will continue to test new kernels as they come. This has been a long standing
issue. In early 2.6.32 kernels I had an error message right after Grub. This
went away with later versions. At the same time my own compiled kernels (from
recent linux-source-2.6.32) had a blank screen right after Grub (instead of the
error message I got with the precompiled kernels), but otherwise booted fine. I
just couldn't get them to display anything.
I think they put a lot of work into the Intel graphics driver in the kernel
recently. That is why the error message dissapeared.

I think the screen blanking only comes after a pm-suspend. Usually when
browsing the web. I tried both pm-suspend with and without --auto-quirks.

I don't think it has anything to do with Xorg.conf, since I both tried with and
without one.

So it comes back down to the basic kernel. And I don't think I configured
anything there at all, which leads me to think that it might be a real bug
after all.

I did check for a bit if other people did report this already, but didn't find
anything matching my problem very good. Could you keep the bug open for recent
kernels please? Maybe someone else will come forward with the same problem.

I will see about 2.6.33 from experimental. My internet connection is currently
a little slow, so I might only do this in a week or two.

Thank you so far for bearing with me.

Malte

I don't have hotkey-setup installed

output of lscpi -vvv attached

Thanks for caring so much. I am still not entirely convinced that this is a
genuine bug (which is why I waited so long reporting it), because the graphics
chip in use (and the rest of the hardware) is so widespread, that I can't be
the only Debian user experiencing this.

Bug#576274: additional info

2010-04-04 Thread bugreport
Hi there,

with some help from one of the maintainers I found the latest package from sid
and installed it:
http://packages.debian.org/sid/linux-image-2.6.32-4-686

But the problem remains unchanged. And I still don't have any meaningful log
reports. I wanted to add that in former kenel versions (pre 2.6.31) the problem
was less frequent, but more severe (e.g. crash also took down x input) . So it
might be a different problem.

Also when the screen goes blank it sometimes takes on different shades of grey.
From almost white to grey to black. Backlight is on. And when rebooted the
screen stays that way until the screen powers all the way down.

With the new kernel version I had an uptime of about 3 hours and only two
pm-suspends until the problem occured.

Thanks,

Malte

Bug#576274: infrequent, but persistent blank screens with Intel GMA900

2010-04-02 Thread bugreport
Package: linux-image-2.6.32-3-686
Version: 2.6.32-9

This bug also applies to linux-source and linux-image packages going back to at
least 2.6.30

I have not reported this, because I have no useful log file entries. And I
thought because the chipset is so common that someone else will report it more
properly (with more information).

I have tried different linux-source packages as well as linux-image packages.

The problem usually occurs after some time and one or two software suspends
(pm-suspend --auto-quirks). Shortly before it the screen will usually jump
horizontally. The jumping will not stop if not changing virtual screens in X.
Then, after some time it will get really bad. Then the screen suddenly blanks
(backlight will stay on). It only effects the screen. Everything else will
still work, confirmed by remote login via ssh.

Bug#565434: upgrading to Squeeze from Lenny problems

2010-01-16 Thread bugreport
Hi,

here is some further information. I used this image to make a clean install:
http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/5.0.3/amd64/iso-cd/debian-503-amd64-businesscard.iso

It is an AMD 785G chipset based system with 4 GB of ram and an AMD Phenom II
processor.

To reduce the possible sources of the error I reduced the amount of packages
installed. I did this on the second try and it did not change the outcome. I
attached the outcome of dpkg -l

Then I reduced the apt source to only one line pointing to the Squeeze main apt
source:
deb http://ftp2.de.debian.org/debian/ squeeze main

Then I used the instructions:
http://www.go2linux.org/how-to-upgrade-from-debian-lenny-to-squeeze

aptitude update
aptitude install apt dpkg aptitude
aptitude full-upgrade

I also used apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade another time, but those
produced essentially the same results. The system downloads all requested
packages (upon the first install 7 packages were already upgraded, but not
libc6). First Grub and Dash are requesting some information.

Then I get a whole bunch of error messages (translating from German):

- first package to be installed is "locales".
- libc6 is damaged because of the installation of libc-bin
- unpack libc-bin
- de-configure libc6
- replaceing libc6

then a bunch of compilation errors

then locales complains, that no proper glibc is installed

and it breaks off

further trys with apt-get -f install and aptitude safe-upgrade yield
essentially the same results.

thx,

Malte

Bug#565434: upgrading to Squeeze from Lenny problems

2010-01-15 Thread bugreport
Package: libc6
Version: 2.10.2-2

Hi,

I don't know where to put this. I wanted to get a Squeeze system. I installed
Lenny on my machine and upgraded it to current Lenny (no packages selected in
tasksel, minimal Debian system installed). Then I tried upgrading and it broke
the system every time to the point that I had to reeinstall Lenny. I tried
upgrading with apt-get dist-upgrade and aptitutde install apt dpkg aptitude and
then aptitude safe-upgrade.
Every time I had many libc6 errors and even dpkg stoped working properly. I
suppose upgrading from Lenny to Squeeze is currently very dangerous.

Thx,

Malte

Bug#563163: CanoScan Lide 50 doesn't work in Squeeze, works in Lenny

2009-12-31 Thread bugreport
Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.20-11

Hi there,

I have a CanoScan Lide 50 USB 2.0 scanner. It is detected fine both in stable
and testing distributions of Debian. But when I press "scan" in Squeeze Xsane
stalls for about 10 sec and then says there is an I/O error.

I deleted .sane in my home directory. Nothing changes.

Thx,

Malte

Hi there,

thx for the upgrade to 3.5, I use Squeeze and have been waiting for it for some
time. I also frequently use different profiles and just went to file a bug
report. I checked if it was already open and here I found it.

If you archive it too soon people might file it again.

Thx,

Bug#559113: Workaround for this bug

2009-12-03 Thread bugreport
Hi there,

The file "preferences" should be part of icewm-common IMHO, but is not listed
as part of that package. Maybe the bug (if it is a bug) should be listed under
that package.

Since it took me a lot of time to find a preferences file I thought I should
show how I got it for anyone that has the same problem and comes across this
page.

Finding the file "preferences" on the web proved to be a real challenge. I gave
up on that one pretty quickly.
It looks like it is not part of the Debian package for Lenny or Etch eiter. I
didn't find them listed on the respected web pages:
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/i386/icewm-common/filelist
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/icewm-common/filelist
http://packages.debian.org/etch/i386/icewm-common/filelist
http://packages.debian.org/lenny/i386/icewm/filelist
http://packages.debian.org/squeeze/i386/icewm/filelist
http://packages.debian.org/etch/i386/icewm/filelist

Downloading the source from upstream and compiling didn't work for me, because
it wanted some x11 dev packages I did not have installed.

Downloading the latest fedora-rpm-packages also didn't work for me either,
because rpm2cpio failed to unpack it. I read that there are problems with
rpm2cpio and recent rpm packages. So I downloaded an older one:

Unpacking:

rpm2cpio icewm-1.2.37-5.fc10.i386.rpm | cpio -idm

And there it is:
./usr/share/icewm/preferences

I also attached the file.

Bug#559113: no preferences file created

2009-12-01 Thread bugreport
Package: icewm
Version: 1.2.37+1.3.4pre2-8

Hi,

I just installed Debian Squeeze using the current installer. Then I used
dselect to install icewm and X. I also did "apt-get install icewm-themes" and
"dpkg -P icewm-themes" after that. Maybe that has something to do with the
following.

The files in /etc/X11/icewm are:
menu programs toolbar

The file in ~/.icewm is:
theme

I expected a file called preferences with default options in either or both of
these directories.

I don't even know if this is a bug. Icewm works fine and I will now create a
default preferences file from the web. I like the default features and only
started looking for the file, because I wanted to see the battery status on the
taskbar.

Thx,

Malte

Bug#554719: debtree: fails to choose latest package(s) (bugreport: message 1 of 10)

I didn't have the package installed, this case wouldn't have been covered by
the patch anyway.

And thanks for your swift reaction. About the patch: Perl really isn't my
language of choice, so I must admit that I quickly used up all my patience,
when I looked in AptPkg::Cache to determine what could be causing the
problem I experienced.
So "naturally" I didn't find it there - I did however notice that the output
from apt-cache seemed to be sorted in a descending order. So changing 'pop'
to 'shift' was basically an educated guess. But maybe it should be
considered doing a sort in debtree on the VersionList array, instead of
blindly assuming the sort order returned from AptPkg? - especially since
there doesn't seem to be any documents stating what the sort order is
supposed to be.

Thomas

Bug#529220: warning: data loss through using synce in lenny

2009-05-17 Thread bugreport
Package: synce-sync-engine
Version: 0.11.1-2
Severity: important

Hello,

I used opensync and synce to sync the contacts between Kontact and my Windows
Mobile 6.1 phone. On the first sync my phone had no contacts. So all contacts
were, in fact, synced to a clean phone. I noticed that only one telephone
number per contact was synced and the rest was ignored.

The data loss on the Kontact side of the sync occures when changing a contact
on the phone that has multiple phone numbers in Kontact. The changed contact
replaces all data in Kontact using the data from the phone lacking the
additional phone numbers.

This comes without any warning and might degrade an addressbook slowly over
time. In this case it is hard to work with backups, because they do not contain
new data that constantly gets added to an address book.

Therefore I strongly advise against using this package. I guess it should come
with a big warning sticker: "Currently this package sneaks in and deletes some
phone numbers without notice."

Bye,

Malte

Bug#504814: network manager blanks input fields

2008-11-07 Thread bugreport
Package: network-manager-kde
Version: 1:0.2.2-1
Severity: normal

When setting up a wpa wireless connection using the Network-manager-kde and
failing to connect the dialogue comes back up with default values. All changes
are overwritten including passwort and user name.

This also happens sometimes when the network looses connection. You are then
presented with the dialogue to set up username and password with blank fields.
Also changes in other options are reversed to the default values.

Username and password are deleted from kde wallet as well.

Malte

Bug#403425: Offending change found

2008-08-19 Thread bugreport . 20 . iridos

Hi,

I found the cause for this bug.
The bug was ideed introduced when going from version 21.4.19-1 to 21.4.19-2 and
as such does not come from any change in upstream.

Looking at the changes between 19-1 and 19-2, nothing major was changed.

I was finally able to narrow things down and find that the different behavior
is caused by this change made in debian/rules (see attachment):

-machine_type = $(shell dpkg --print-architecture)
+machine_type = $(shell dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_GNU_CPU)

(and also
-debianconfig = ${machine_type}-debian-linux
+debianconfig = $(shell dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_GNU_TYPE)
)

"dpkg --print-architecture prints" "i386" on my machine, while
"dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_GNU_CPU" prints "i486"; the 2nd part changes
debianconfig from "i385-debian-linux" to "i486-linux-gnu"

This then must cause some difference in the compile or in the paths used by the
final xemacs program and then ultimatively leads to the failure of flyspell.

FIX: Reverse apply the attached patch to make the package and flyspell works as
before.

It would be interesting to know why this innocent change causes the bug, but
for now I would suggest to just revert to the old values for machine_type and
debianconfig.

Now is perhaps yet in time to close the bug and get it fixed in lenny?

Cheers,
Karsten

Are you kidding me? "Stay stable" while trying to compile with bleeding
edge kernel?

Closing the bug with no action. Use Etch kernel for Etch nvidia drivers,
or go unstable.

Eduard.

Unfortunately I need a newer kernel than 2.6.18 for some of my hardware
(2.6.18 gives problems with some of my external hdd drives...). And some
of the power management of my hardware is said to work with at least
2.6.24...

So that's the only part I *need* to be "not-stable". *sigh*

Bug#465174: module-assistant doesn't compile nvidia for kernel 2.6.24

I have package version 1.0.8776-4 installed, which is the newest package
available in aptitude (and also the newest packages.debian.org lists for
stable)

169.09-1 is only available for sid (and I'd like to stay stable :))

Reinstallation of the current version didn't work either.

Thanks for your help!

Bug#465174: module-assistant doesn't compile nvidia for kernel 2.6.24

2008-02-10 Thread bugreport . 20 . gpburth

Package: module-assistant
Version: 0.10.8
Severity: important

I compiled a vanilla 2.6.24 and booted. When trying to build the new
nvidia kernel module with module-assistant the compile breaks, leaving
only the option to view the errorlog (provided below).

I tried re-install of modass, nvidia-kernel-source and related packages
but the build still breaks.
(Installation of the latest shell-skript-installer from nvidia makes it
even worse: it doesn't compile too and the existing 2.6.18 and 2.6.22
kernels wont't use their modules anymore... Uninstalled now, afterwards
re-installed above mentioned modules)

I tried make clean and doing a fresh make without clean before using
modass but to no avail.

Build of module for 2.6.22 still works.

Bug #461228 (module-assistant fail after make-kpkg created wrong
linux-headers deb package on kernel 2.6.24-rc*) doesn't apply, because
it doesn't hang on kernel sources.

Bug#426038: Please reassign to package xemacs21-basesupport

2007-05-25 Thread bugreport . 20 . iridos

Sorry, did not notice it was not the correct name for the package until
too late. Please reassign to package xemacs21-basesupport.

Additional information: there is a newer version of xemacs in unstable.
The newer packet the exact same error as in stable.

Bug#426038: xemacs: Flyspell correction does not work, instead it returns "Wrong type argument: listp "

2007-05-25 Thread bugreport . 20 . iridos

Package: xemacs
Severity: normal

Using ESC-x flyspell-buffer, then clicking on a highlighted word with the
middle mouse button does not yield a menu with the list of suggestions.
Instead, the error "Wrong type argument: listp " is printed.
The term seems to be the first word that the currection
suggested as a replacement for the current misspelled word (the
value of is "save" if
there is no such suggestion).

This error must be caused within the function flyspell-correct-word which
is called by the middle-mouse click. The error appears for the current
stable and unstable version of the dictionaries-common packet. (I started
out with stable, then installed the newer version of dictionaries-common
to see if the problem went away).

The same error is _not_ present in emacs21 - here the menu with a
suggested correction appears as it should.

Looking a bit further, I would guess it is this call, which causes the
error message: (setq replace (flyspell-emacs-popup event poss word))
(although the same line is present in emacs21).

Regards,
Karsten

Bug#425873: libtk8.3

2007-05-24 Thread bugreport . 20 . iridos

Package: tk8.3
Version: 8.3.5-6
Severity: important

Hi,

While t runtime library /usr/lib/libtk8.3.so.1 is in the package tk8.3, as
it should be, the softlink /usr/lib/libtk8.3.so pointing to this file is
in the packagage tk8.3-dev, together with /usr/lib/libtk8.3.a.
That does not make any sense, just as the run-time library belongs into
the normal (not-dev) packagage, the softlink should also be created by
this package.

This becomes more inconveninent, considering that tk8.3-dev conflicts with
tk8.4-dev as pointed out in bug #312517 and so not both soft-links can be
installed by packages (while it is of course trivial to create them
manually).

The same behavior is seen for the packets tk8.4 tk8.4-dev (should I file
separate bug-reports for those?).

Regards,
Karsten

Bug#406604: Enigmail upstream bug and patch

2007-01-12 Thread Debian Bugreport Mailaddress
Package: mozilla-thunderbird-enigmail
Version: 2:0.91-4sarge2
Severity: grave

Enigmail has had a serious bug for a long time, see
http://bugzilla.mozdev.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9730 for details.

An attacker can send properly crafted encrypted emails to the enigmail
user that will crash the receiver's instance of thunderbird.

Whether it is possible to inject code or to access the user's passphrase
using this aproach is unclear.

A patch fixing the issue appeared on the enigmail mailing list. The
latest enigmail release (from yesterday, version v0.94.2) fixes the issue).

I believe this bug justifies a security updates to sarge and etch.

Regards,
  Tobias

Bug#401738: Acknowledgement (nagios2: statuswml.cgi cannot schedule check commands)

2006-12-06 Thread debian-bugreport

I've found the cause of the problem: When using a normal browser
cmd.cgi is called from extinfo.cgi, where extinfo.cgi generates the
start_time parameter. When calling statuswml.cgi it also
calls cmd.cgi but does not generate a start_time parameter. I made
some changes to the code to make it generate the parameter.
