Bug#1040907: aerc: Freeze when pasting to body on email compose
Package: aerc Version: 0.15.2-1 Severity: normal Dear aerc maintainer, I find that aerc almost always freezes when pasting into the compose area. It can easily be reproduced here: * Open aerc. * Compose an email. * Move cursor from headers onto the email body compose area. * In another window, open a text editor, enter "hello world" 100 times and copy it. * Back in aerc, paste into the compose area by `SHIFT+INSERT` * Some of the text will be pasted, but then aerc will get stuck, sometimes like "hell|" * Aerc stops responding to any input, including `CTRL+C` I have tested an confirmed this is an issue whether using vim or nvim text editor, and whether using kitty, alacritty or foot terminal emulator. -- System Information: Debian Release: trixie/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 6.3.0-2-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_FIRMWARE_WORKAROUND Locale: LANG=en_DK.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_DK.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages aerc depends on: ii libc62.37-5 ii libnotmuch5 0.37-1+b1 Versions of packages aerc recommends: ii dante-client 1.4.2+dfsg-7 ii gnupg 2.2.40-1.1 pn w3m Versions of packages aerc suggests: ii notmuch 0.37-1+b1 -- no debconf information

Bug#987360: swaylock: Occassional unlock without password entered
I cannot answer for Pelle, but I was also experiencing this bug back when it was reported. FWIW: I'm unable to reproduce it with 1.6-1. That being said, triggering the bug does seem somewhat stochastic, so I can't rule out that a bunch more suspend/resume cycles would trigger it. But so far, so good! Same here, no crashes recently, yay, however, I think that this crash bug illustrates the more general issue that the lock screen is bypassed on any crash. Swaylock should be able to restart itself on failure, perhaps with a daemon. There could be more vulnerabilities of this class, right? I believe XScreensaver has a strategy for mitigating these types of vulns too. Thank you so much for your work. I wish I knew C and could help, but now I can only complain and hope someone else fixes it. I could probably write a daemon in shell script though if such a patch would be accepted, although there are probably more elegant solutions to this in the swaylock code itself.

I ran those commands again, just to check, but now they gave a different result. Then I tried running `lollypop /home/pelle/foo.mp3` over and over again, and this resulted in foo.mp3 being played about 10% of the time, and a random track the rest of the time. The behaviour appears to be nondeterministic. What settings to you have for playback? Anything exotic, like "Continuous playback", "Automatic playback (random)" or "Automatic playback (similar)"? To reproduce: - Create a new 256x256 image - Put a bell pepper stamp in the upper left corner - Make a four point selection using the cage transform tool on the bell pepper in the upper left corner - Now a large visual glitch (a heavily geometrically distorted bell pepper but no distorted colours) may appear in the lower right corner - After pressing Enter to apply the cage transform, the visual glitch will stay in the image, even if to points of the cage transform selection were moved anywhere -- System Information: Debian Release: bullseye/sid APT prefers unstable-debug APT policy: (500, 'unstable-debug'), (500, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Foreign Architectures: i386 Kernel: Linux 5.10.0-4-amd64 (SMP w/2 CPU threads) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_CRAP Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_US:en Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) LSM: AppArmor: enabled Versions of packages gimp depends on: ii gimp-data2.10.22-3 ii graphviz 2.42.2-4+b2 ii libaa1 1.4p5-48 ii libbabl-0.1-01:0.1.86-1 ii libbz2-1.0 1.0.8-4 ii libc62.31-10 ii libcairo21.16.0-5 ii libfontconfig1 2.13.1-4.2 ii libfreetype6 2.10.4+dfsg-1 ii libgcc-s110.2.1-6 ii libgdk-pixbuf-2.0-0 2.42.2+dfsg-1 ii libgegl-0.4-01:0.4.28-3 ii libgexiv2-2 0.12.1-1 ii libgimp2.0 2.10.22-3 ii libglib2.0-0 2.66.8-1 ii libgs9 9.53.3~dfsg-7 ii libgtk2.0-0 2.24.33-1 ii libgudev-1.0-0 234-1 ii libharfbuzz0b2.7.4-1 ii libheif1 1.11.0-1 ii libilmbase25 2.5.4-1 ii libjpeg62-turbo 1:2.0.6-4 ii libjson-glib-1.0-0 1.6.2-1 ii liblcms2-2 2.12~rc1-2 ii liblzma5 5.2.5-2 ii libmng1 1.0.10+dfsg-3.1+b5 ii libmypaint-1.5-1 1.6.0-2 ii libopenexr25 2.5.4-1 ii libopenjp2-7 2.4.0-3 ii libpango-1.0-0 1.46.2-3 ii libpangocairo-1.0-0 1.46.2-3 ii libpangoft2-1.0-01.46.2-3 ii libpng16-16 1.6.37-3 ii libpoppler-glib8 20.09.0-3.1 ii librsvg2-2 2.50.3+dfsg-1 ii libstdc++6 10.2.1-6 ii libtiff5 4.2.0-1 ii libwebp6 0.6.1-2+b1 ii libwebpdemux20.6.1-2+b1 ii libwebpmux3 0.6.1-2+b1 ii libwmf0.2-7 0.2.8.4-17 ii libx11-6 2:1.7.0-2 ii libxcursor1 1:1.2.0-2 ii libxext6 2:1.3.3-1.1 ii libxfixes3 1:5.0.3-2 ii libxmu6 2:1.1.2-2+b3 ii libxpm4 1:3.5.12-1 ii xdg-utils1.1.3-4 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.11.dfsg-2 Versions of packages gimp recommends: ii ghostscript 9.53.3~dfsg-7 Versions of packages gimp suggests: pn gimp-data-extras pn gimp-help-en | gimp-help ii gvfs-backends 1.46.2-1 ii libasound21.2.4-1.1

Bug#983873: retroarch: Menu freezes shortly after start
Are you using sway as compositor? I reproduced the freezing behaviour when running under sway. In a GNOME session on Wayland, retroarch seems to work fine. Yes, I'm using Sway. The message "Failed to create shell" helped me find what I think is the corresponding upstream issue: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/7064 It's unfortunate that retroarch wasn't updated for bullseye, but I'm not sure trying to backport the xdg-shell feature to this version of retroarch is a good idea now that bullseye is in hard freeze. I notice a similar bug in other packages in Debian Sid, such as ChessX. Would it make sense to report a bug with each of those packages, or would this be considered an issue with Sway / wlroots / xdg-shell? Bug#983873: retroarch: Menu freezes shortly after start
I'm using X11 (not Wayland) The issue happens on Wayland. On X11 the RetroArch menu works (although some of the menu icons are black squares and a few other glitches). If the 1.9.0 you tested was the flatpak, I wonder whether it's possible for you to also to test a flatpak of 1.7.3, in case there is a relevant difference in the build environment or the libraries used? The oldest available version of RetroArch on Flathub is 1.7.6: $ flatpak update --commit=a437b0ef4eb1f1563d84a8ec881b9f19eb9fb84c06b35ecafe4ce85d5aad918a org.libretro.RetroArch That version does have the menu freeze issue under Wayland which I guess means that the issue has been fixed in upstream. Could you please run it as "retroarch --verbose" and post some or all of the output up to the point where it freezes? $ retroarch --verbose [INFO] RetroArch 1.7.3 (Git b2ceb50) [INFO] === Build === Capabilities: MMX MMXEXT SSE1 SSE2 SSE3 SSSE3 SSE4 SSE4.2 AVX AES Built: Nov 20 2020 [INFO] Version: 1.7.3 [INFO] Git: b2ceb50 [INFO] = [INFO] Environ SET_PIXEL_FORMAT: RGB565. Bug#984976: mumble: Keyboard shortcuts can't be assigned
Package: mumble Version: 1.3.4-1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer, In the "Shortcuts" settings, when I add a new shortcut and click in the "Shortcut" column, a "Press Shortcut" label is shown. Bug#891879: closed by Jeremy Bicha (Bug#891879: fixed in gnome-chess 1:3.28.0-2)
Hi maintainer, I'm not sure this bug has been resolved yet. When I search for gnome-chess with apt, it is described as having 3D graphics: % apt search gnome-chess Sorting... Done Full Text Search... Done gnome-chess/unstable,now 1:3.28.0-1 i386 [installed] chess game with 3D graphics However, the most recent version does not have 3D graphics. Bug#893907: lynx: The subdomain name 'news' freezes Lynx
Package: lynx Version: 2.8.9dev16-3 Severity: important Dear Maintainer, When I use Lynx to read a web page, it freezes when the web page starts with the subdomain 'news.' For example, on the terminal when I type in this: lynx news.ycombinator.com Then Lynx freezes while displaying this message in the status bar: Making NNTP connection to news.ycombinator.com Lynx handles https://news.ycombinator.com just fine, but when https:// is missing, Lynx just assumes that I'm looking for something one Usenet. Same problem with news.google.com, news.yahoo.com, etc. I think it would be more reasonable if Lynx assumed HTTP unless told otherwise, or perhaps had a time out in case NNTP lookup failed. Bug#890600: gtkterm: No prompt
Hi I may have misunderstood the purpose of gtkterm, as there is another program with the same name, described like this: "GTKTerm is a small graphical shell like XTerm." https://sourceforge.net/projects/gtkterm/ I was mistakenly expecting GTKTerm to be a terminal emulator and was expecting it to show a prompt. Something that may have contributed to my confusion is the fact that GTKTerm segfaults when clicking in the "Help" menu, and that the service, on which the project web site in listed the GTKTerm man page ( https://fedorahosted.org/gtkterm/ ) is hosted, has been discontinued. -- Pelle Hjek h...@member.fsf.org https://news.hjek.tk On Fri, Feb 16, 2018 at 07:01:14PM +0100, Willem van den Akker wrote: > On Fri, 2018-02-16 at 18:44 +0200, Adrian Bunk wrote: > > Control: severity -1 grave > > > > On Fri, Feb 16, 2018 at 05:04:13PM +0100, Willem van den Akker wrote: > > > Hello Pelle, > > > > > > Please notice you are using reporting against an older version. > > > The latest version has many updates. > > >... > > > > This is the version in stable. > > > > This is the version normal users are expected to use, > > and it is supported by Debian until 2020. > > > > I cannot comment on the contents of this bug, but if it is as broken as > > it sounds this might be an RC issue in stable that should be fixed by > > the maintainer for stable. > > > > > Greetings > > > Willem vdAkker > > > > cu > > Adrian > > > > Ok, point taken :) > > Hello Pelle, > > Can you describe the situatie when the failure is shown? > What is connected to which serial port. Bug#890617: pyscrabble: No metaservers available and pyscrabble-server also doesn't work
Package: pyscrabble Version: 1.6.2-10 Severity: grave Justification: renders package unusable Dear Maintainer, When opening PyScrabble, users are asked to "register on a public server", however none are available, and the game is not playable without connecting to a server. It is possible to run the pyscrabble-server package, but this comes with no documentation describing how to register. The server listens on port and , and when navigating to http://localhost: with a web browser, I'm presented with a web interface to the server. This web interface does not provide the option of registering either, but running `dpkg -L pyscrabble-server` indicates that there's an endpoint called `user_admin`. When navigating to `http://localhost:/user_admin`, I get the following error in the browser: ``` : tuple index out of range /usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/twisted/internet/defer.py, line 150 in maybeDeferred 148""" 149try: 150result = f(*args, **kw) 151except: /usr/share/games/pyscrabble/python/pyscrabble/net/site.py, line 71 in locateChild 69 70if (segments[0] == 'user_admin'): 71return UserAdmin(original=segments[1], ctx=ctx, factory=self.factory), segments[2:] 72if (segments[0] == 'xmlrpc'): : tuple index out of range ``` To me it looks like pyscrabble-server is broken, which makes PyScrabble unusable. -- System Information: Debian Release: 9.3 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: i386 (i686) Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-5-686-pae (SMP w/2 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE=en_GB:en (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages pyscrabble depends on: ii pyscrabble-common 1.6.2-10 ii python 2.7.13-2 ii python-gtk22.24.0-5.1 ii python-pygame 1.9.1release+dfsg-10+b2 pyscrabble recommends no packages. Bug#436514: amsn-remote-CLI is broken
Package: amsn Version: 0.97~rc1+dfsg1-4 Hi! The amsn-remote-CLI TCL script (located in /usr/bin in debian) fails with this error message: couldn't read file "amsncore.tcl": no such file or directory while executing "source amsncore.tcl" (file "/usr/bin/amsn-remote-CLI" line 8) making a copy of the script and adding an absolute path (/usr/share/amsn/) solves the problem, and you get a similar problem for migmd5.tcl. After changing into an absolute path there too the script works fine. The script amsn-remote has the same problem, though I haven't tried fixing it as I don't use it. /Pelle -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#382427: Problem solved
Hi! At first I thought that the first lines of the form Warning: Color name "Black" is not defined had nothing to do with the segfault, but they turned out to be the source of the problem. Similar error messages started to appear in other apps (sawfish and gnuplot) and some googling indicated that it had something to do with the file /etc/X11/rgb.txt. After reinstalling the package x11-common that owns that file, the problems went away in all the apps, so the bug must actually have been in the update process of xorg in the debian packaging I guess. You may close the bug unless you think it's unacceptable for XEmacs to segfault in a broken xorg installation. /Pelle -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#368604: Cannot download dot-files
Package: bittornado Version: 0.3.15-1 Hi! If a torrent contains any files starting with a dot (.), bittornado will refuse to open the torrent altogether with the error message like this: ERROR ( ) - got bad file info - path <.filename> disallowed for security reasons This behavior is probably inherited from the Windows version. It isn't really justified in Windows either as far as I can see, but certainly not in linux. A torrent-file which is affected by the problem is located at http://static.thepiratebay.org/hashtorrent/3470417.torrent/The.Chronicles.Of.Narnia.The.Lion.The.Witch.And.The.Wardrobe.200.3470417.TPB.torrent /Pelle -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#351540: Zeroconf overwrites working IP
Hi! I had the same problem as others have reported here. Zeroconf was installed automatically and kept overwriting my perfectly healthy IP-adress received through DHCP with a private IP-adress. I solved the problem by following a tip to add "FALLBACK=yes" to /etc/default/zeroconf. Since multiple people have experienced this problem I really think you should look into this. /Pelle -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Bug#338051: Cron sends malformed mails
Package: cron Version: 3.0pl1-91 Hi! The mails I get from cron use utf-8 as charset, but they aren't marked as using utf-8 (they completely miss a Content-Type mail header). I guess that the mails coming from cron use whatever charset is used by the system's locale, since it just mails the output from the cron-script unaltered. But as far as I can see, the mails should still be marked with the correct charset, as it make perfect sense to have one charset in the system's locale, and another default charset in one's MUA for mails lacking charset info. /Pelle -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Bug#294281: Problem solved
Hi The problem is solved in the new version (0.3.10-2), it works fine now. Seems like the previous version depended on the wrong wxgtk package. /Pelle -- Pelle Nilsson [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Bug#294281: btdownloadgui refuses to run
Package: bittornado-gui Version: 0.3.10-1 Hi I installed the bittornado-gui debian package, and as a consequense the following packages were also automatically installed: libwxgtk2.5.3 (2.5.3.2) libwxgtk2.5.3-python (2.5.3.2) wxpython2.5.3 (2.5.3.2) Other relevant packages that were already installed include: python2.3 (2.3.4+2.3.5c1-2) bittornado (0.3.10-1) Despite this, btdownloadgui refuses to run with the following error: wxPython is either not installed or has not been installed properly. There is no other output. The result is the same for the other bt*gui programs. The curses versions work fine. /Pelle -- Pelle Nilsson [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
