Bug#305748: libmpich1.0-dev: doesn't links properlly

Hmm, hazelsct is me, the maintainer. I don't know why my home directory is mentioned in those files. (Also, I've never run into an error of this kind...) Can you please send the exact error message you are seeing, so I can try to help diagnose and fix it? I knew that hazelct where you when I see the acknowlodgment of the bug. I have installed the 2.1.6 version of petsc because the interface to petsc-fem has changed with version (i've installed the version from a bunch of .deb packages that you can find on the oficial website of the libraries) the message was linking petsc 2.1.6 in /home/hazelct/petsc2.1.6/.../something Due to design problems (I've finally found that the specific thing I need to do, that package isn't able to do it) I've uninstalled the software so I can't reproduce the exact error. But the error apears when I've tried to test the mpich capabillities, not when I run the test without mpich. Hmm. I know there were some issues with non-PIC code in old mpich libraries, where static mpich objects were pulled into shared PETSc libraries. That wasn't fixed until PETSc 2.2.0, so the problem might be gone... Nope, grep in the latest libs shows hazelsct still there. And it's there in the 1.2.5.3-6 packages I just built. But I don't have any trouble linking or running programs, so that aspect of it might be fixed. Hmm, I'm afraid I don't have more time to investigate just now, and need to upload -6 soon. I'll leave the bug open and try to fix it for the next release.
