Bug#320024: Processed: Combine fai-cd bugs

Bug#320024: fai-cd does not work with sarge
 Bug#329547: fai-cd: sources.list should be configurable
 Merged 320024 329547.

Aehm, I'm not so sure if this was a good idea: 320024 could be fixed within
sarge, where 329547 maybe not.

(If we only wanted to fix the issues in sid, merging is certainly a good
idea.)

Holger

But properly fixing #320024 certainly demands a solution similar to my
suggestion, which is #329547. Thus I'd say this merge was not that wrong; but if
it was, anyone is free to unmerge these bugs.

Hi,

no need to cc: on mails to the fai-BTS, i'm subscribed to the package
fai... ;-)

As said: maybe we dont want to properly fix #320024, because a proper fix (as
is required by #329547) might not be accepted in sarge.

And if Thomas now uploads a 2.8.4.1 which fixes #320024, #329547 will also be
closed. (Or maybe #320024 does not gets closed as the bugs are merged, not
100% sure.)

That's all I wanted to say.

 Thus I'd say this merge was not that wrong;

I never said it was wrong. I only said it might be wrong depending on our
target ;)

Holger

IMHO we should try to find a proper fix and try to get it accepted by the Stable
Release Managers - if they don't accept that, we should first unmerge those bug
reports.

Would that be fine?

Michael, not quite. This is all a bit complex because of the exact
wording that is used in the bugreports:

Fixing 320024 just puts testing instead of stable into the sources list.
But that's not enought to get to a working FAI cd.

Fixing 329547 so the worst symptom is gone, namely, the fai cd cannot
install a system properly, is only taking contrib and non-free out of
line 214 in fai-cd.

This, again, does not fix 329547 as requested in it's title
sources.list should be configurable - sources list won't get any more
configurable by removing main and contrib from line 214.

Possible solutions
extend 320024, so it's clear that there is more broken than just using
testing instead of stable, namely contrib and non-free in the same
line won't result in a working cd for now.
When we fix this, the bad symtom of 329547 is gone. So we set 329547
back to wishlist level and can make it real nice sometime.

I'd like to do the bugfixing and testing and checking in to svn work,
who does the bts stuff? :)

Henning
