I noticed this during translating of the current Debian Weekly News and try
to report all issues I found this way ...

I beg to differ; imho the short description is what the package is
or what it does, and what the program does is display large colourful
characters. See for instance the output of:

Indeed, this is why I think you are wrong (but I'm no native speaker).

toilet displays large colourful characters in text mode

Otherwise I assume you talk to the user. (Please display large
colourful characters in text mode to ...)

http://www.debian.org/doc/developers-reference/ch-best-pkging-practices.en.html#s-bpp-desc-basics
mentions:

It might help to imagine that the synopsis is combined with the package
name in the following way:
 package-name is a synopsis.

Alternatively, it might make sense to think of it as
 package-name is synopsis.

or, if the package name itself is a plural (such as developers-tools)
 package-name are synopsis.

This is what I did (except that I omitted the verb).

apt-cache search create | grep ' - create'

the majority of short descriptions follows what I have been using.

Oops, you're right. OK feel free to close this bug report.

Jens
