I've just sent this to the bug, should make things easier.

I've tested with the newest version in backports, and no change. I've
added the extra bits to the trace log and attached it as well.

Wine does not seem to use any special driver features. So, well, I can
only suggest trying to upgrade the nvidia drivers, or upgrade Wine to a
newer version (0.9.52 or 0.9.53) to see if the problem still exists.

In the meantime, I've found a similar report in WineHQ's bug tracker,
and am marking this report as forwarded there. Maybe your log is of use
 to someone there.

I've reviewed the report in the WineHQ's bug tracker and it does appear
to be an upstream change. Apparently the ddraw code was rewritten from
scratch, and this seems to be an affected bit of code.

The latest version, 0.9.55, is still affected ( I now get the WineHQ
backported packages which are fairly up to date)

Regards,

Russell

Thanks for your efforts, I do appreciate them. This bug has been
somewhat annoying for quite a while now, and I'm happy to see that
someone else seems to have the same problem. Pity it doesn't appear to
have been fixed... *sigh*.

I have been attempting to do some regression testing (as recommended by
the WineHQ bug tracker), but don't really have the patience to work out
why my system doesn't appear to want to do what it is told. So I went
and had a look at something different, and set up retrieving the latest
version from WineHQ for etch - 0.9.53, from what I can see.
Unfortunately, the problem does still exist.

From my quick read of the other bug, it would appear that D3D has been
completely rewritten (for some reason) and now doesn't appear to work
properly for things like this program.

Regards,

Russell.

I have my system up to date (as far as stable, backports (for some
things) and multimedia.org are concerned. If there's anything else you
would like me to try, please let me know.

What version of Wine are you using now then?

Well, the current version of Wine is 0.9.52, but we could always
investigate. (You could consider at least grabbing 0.9.34 from
backports, though.) Try setting the WINEDEBUG environment variable to
+x11drv,+opengl,+wgl,+ddraw,+seh,+tid and capture the output, to see
what your program is doing.

Hello,
