Bug#449351: sed: Fails to dist-upgrade: fails while processing post-installation script

2007-11-27 Thread Art Sackett
Greetings:

Errno.pm is from the package perl-base.

I have neither vserver nor xen installed so neither was the culprit when
the sed upgrade failed for me a moment ago.

I worked around this error by commenting out lines 11, 12, and 13 in
Errno.pm long enough to complete the upgrade. After the upgrade
finished, I tried:

  apt-get install --reinstall sed

and again received the error message about Errno.pm.

Hope this helps.

I am somewhat ocnfident that perl-base does not install an Errno.pm into
/usr/local. `dpkg -S /usr/local/share/perl/5.8.8/Errno.pm` should
confirm that perl-base is not the owner of that file. Please verify.

Sorry; I didn't notice that you weren't the original submitter. Are you
both experiencing an upgrade problem under Xen with an error message
about vserver from an Errno.pm installed in /usr/local ?

You're using Xen and not vserver?

Where does the Errno.pm in /usr/local/share come from, and do you really
need a local perl installation?
