Bug#466508: Package description makes 'ntop' sound like 'top' type console util.

thanks

Thanks a lot for the description. I agree that in a web browser would
be better.

Or even simply:
monitor and visualize network traffic

I'll update this on ext upload.

Thanks

I usually just install the binary packages, not the source -- so I don't

Here's an attempt at revision, if not a patch:

ntop monitors local network traffic and displays connection
statistics in tabular formats reminiscent of the unix top
utility, it also features menus, pie charts, bar graphs,
plug-ins, and more. ntop uses an internal http server for
output; connect with any JavaScript enabled graphical
web browser, (e.g. galeon, iceweasel, etc.).

Note: I put using a web browser, which sounds awkward, instead of
in a web browser as the latter might imply traffic only in the
browser. Perhaps there's a better way to phrase it...

Bug#466508: Package description makes 'ntop' sound like 'top' type console util.

2008-02-19 Thread Ola Lundqvist
Hi

Thanks for the report. Yes ntop needs a browser nowdays. In the beginning
the description was actually true. But I think that refers to about 6 or
10 years ago.

Patch is welcome. :)

Best regards,
