Hi,

I've uploaded tracker 0.8 packages, which are now in squeeze and unstable.
tracker 0.8 has seen a lot of improvements and memleak fixeds.
Could you please upgrade tracker and see if you can still reproduce the error.

Thanks,
Michael

Bug#479820: [tracker] Can't open database, out of memory

2008-05-07 Thread David
Thank you.

I would say that this does not fix the problem. I cannot assure that because
I did the following:

1) Executed this command, it started OK.
2) I needed to reboot the computer, but I made it clean, and without
closing the console where the reindexing was running.
3) After the reboot, trackerd was running OK. Although I was not able to see
the search results because, as the search tool read, the indexing was in
progress.
4) After some time, and without apparent reason, trackerd died and, when
trying to start it, the same problem :-(

Regards.

Could you please run trackerd --reindex -v 1

Maybe the db files got corrupted by an unclean shutdown.

 Cheers,
 Michael

Could you please send me the output of
trackerd -v 3, when it crashes.

It would also help, if you could install the tracker-dbg package and
generate a backtrace.

OK, I ran
trackerd --reindex -v 3

and, after several hours, it exited with this (I hide the name of the files

FATAL ERROR: can't open database at

file1.dat, file2.dat, etc form part of a set of datafiles that are
qualitatively the same. The patern described above for file1 was the same
for many files that came before file1. file2 (the one where the crash
occurs) is not special at all, is not the first or the last one in the
folder.

Hope it helps,

David
