Bug#492837: bug #492837

2009-04-08 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
so you just altered allowed version... did you check if that worked...
ie you could sync bookmarks? I think I have tried pure version mangling
some time (it was prior FF 3.0 iirc) and I could start bookmarksftp but
could not sync... so in other words it was useless

No need for a patch its just adjusting one line in the install.rdf
I will upload a diff of the changes, I just have to figure out how to
upload to bug tracker. If i figure it out in a few minutes ill upload it
tonight if not maybe before weekend.

have you come up with a patch which makes it work (not only to get
loaded/enabled) for FF3?

Sorry forgot. I am willing to take over maintaining it, since upstream
died. I'm still learning Debian's bug tracker its a bit different than
ours, so if there are other bugs on this let me know maybe i can sneak
them in. I emailed asac already since he left for the day, and let him
know what i was thinking.

Bug#492837: bug #492837

2009-04-08 Thread John Vivirito
I have pushed this to my Launchpad PPA, We are at this time unable to
push Debian sources to PPA'a but i added iceweasel and friends to
depends, i may be pushing a version with 3.5 and 3.6 in depends but i
haven't done that yet. Does Debian have package mozilla-devscripts or is
that just us? You can find binaries and source at the following link:
https://edge.launchpad.net/~gnomefreak/+archive/ppa
the only thing i cna think of that would be an issue is the
mozilla-devscripts depend but that is easy enough to change.

On the Ubuntu side of extensions we are not packaging non-free
extensions at this time. If you are than i should be able to do it for
you. Please let me know what you want to do, but whatever extension you
want i will work on it, If all info is available than it should only
take a few hours to package test, I still need to use mbox that may be
todays work

2008-09-17 Thread John Vivirito
Thanks for helping me get it in archives. Im waiting on a reply to an
email i sent to upstream authoer about licensing and hopfully a CVS or
SVN. but can use .xpi if needed.
we can fix mozilla-bookmarksftp but since no newer version than IMHO it
should be replaved by Foxmarks. let me know if *-bookmarks should be
kept and i will be glad to try and update the install.rdf and hop it
works but it should.

2008-08-26 Thread Yaroslav Halchenko
I wonder if any fork from this project is still alive...
there was a fork
Bookmark Sync and Sort
which also got somewhat abandoned and then
PlaceSync appeared (which is a cut version of Sync and Sort)
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8379
also there is
SyncPlaces
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/8426

but both are young projects...

the best alternative imho is foxmarks but I am not sure if they finally
implemented non-foxmarks-server approach... actually they do already
http://wiki.foxmarks.com/wiki/Foxmarks:_Frequently_Asked_Questions#Using_Other_Servers
(FTP and WebDAV are supported), so I guess properly packaged foxmarks
might be a good replacement for bookmarksftp

actually there is RFP #482938

I was gonna look at this on Ubuntu's end to see if i can get it fixed
than ask for it to be fixed in Debian. I have a couple of extensions to
get out first, just found problems with one i thought was ready. I will
try to look at it by end of month as it stands. Someone can feel free to
edit the install.rdf to include ff3 as needed and see if it is compliant
with it.
