I got a lot of errors for duplicate options, so I tracked them down and deleted
them. This didn't help though, and xmllint still prints the errors in the
attached file, I think they are related to my tags not being closed, but they
aren't in the sample configuration files either.

Please run xmllint on your configuration file, and attach the results to
this bug.

Thanks.

On my system, the init script runs, but silently fails to start inspircd,
though creating both /var/log/inspircd.log (empty) and /var/run/inspircd.pid
(empty). I am using a slightly modified configuration file from a (working)
inspircd configuration on another system, but since I get no errors, I have no
way of knowing if the configuration file is valid or not.

Bug#506862: inspircd: fails to start, complains about missing shared libraries

2008-11-28 Thread peter green

severity 506862 normal
thanks

When I try to run inspircd, it dies with the message "inspircd: error

while loading shared
libraries: libIRCDchannels.so: cannot open shared object file: No such

file or directory"
In my test chroots at least it starts sucessfully using the init script
but fails to start with the error the submitter gives if I try to launch
it directly. It seems inspircd is intended to be started through an init
script and relies on that init script to set LD_LIBRARY_PATH before
launching the IRCD.

I'm not sure this is a bug and it certainly doesn't seem to be a grave
one. You shouldn't really be starting daemons directly anyway since it
will mean the init script can't find them to shut down or restart.

Bug#506862: inspircd: fails to start, complains about missing shared libraries

2008-11-25 Thread Albin Stjerna
Package: inspircd
Version: 1.1.21+dfsg-1
Severity: normal

When I try to run inspircd, it dies with the message "inspircd: error while
loading shared
libraries: libIRCDchannels.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory",
seemingly regardless of loaded modules in my configuration file or
configuration options at
all.
