Could or might be so.

I need a consensus in Debian that your interpretation of
the problem is correct, however.

If it is clear I'm willing to link lynx against OpenSSL.

I don’t agree with that interpretation of the GNU GPL,
and there have been strong points raised that this is
probably not true.

I think the problem here is not the licence but Debian’s
interpretation of it, trying to stay on the FSF/RMS posi-
tion.

As the FSF doesn’t even hold copyright in Lynx, it is
extremely unlikely that, even if their interpretation
of the GPL were correct, anything would happen if Lynx
were to be distributed as _dynamically_ linked binary
against OpenSSL.

*shrugs*

I believe lynx-cur can't be linked against OpenSSL
because of its license in Debian. Please see
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=%23187972

If I misunderstand something, please let me know.
I'm willing to accept your request if the license permits it.

2009-05-19 Thread Thorsten Glaser
Package: lynx-cur
Version: 2.8.7pre2-1
Severity: wishlist

Please link lynx-cur against OpenSSL instead of GnuTLS to make use
of the bugfixes I already submitted upstream, like the X.509v3
subjectAltName support code, which would fix #231609 and others.
